unironincally my favourtie piece of commentary i've ever heard. It's like saying to Messi "we're having a kickabout in the park later , are you any good at football?"
He wears the bucket and mask to cope with anxiety. Not sure if its stage fright or agoraphobia but hes notoriously private and for many years no one even knew his name. He loves basketball and has several songs dedicated to Jordan and Lebron. He also has several songs dedicated to his mom and his aunt Suzie. One of his best is a nearly 30 minute ballad for his late mom called "Hold Me Forever". He hands out quirky toys at his shows and is known to play requested songs on the spot. He has over 300 studio albums of original compositions. A very humble man whos genius on the guitar is unmatched.
I'll add that by wearing a mask and being visually anonymous for decades, he achieves other things too. Like Japanese Kabuki, he removes his real appearance from the performance, it's all about the art. Plus, he doesn't have to worry about being mobbed due to fame. We likely wouldn't recognise him if we walked by him on the street, and that's the way he likes it. He may well be the best living electric guitarist on Earth.
His studio album count is well over 400 now. He's released 94 new studio albums just this year alone before the end of August. His quantity and quality of output is unparalleled.
The nicest musician I ever met. A rare thing indeed in any business but especially rock music. I read an interview from one of the editors of Guitar Player Magazine, and he has "sponsored" a number of young guitarists over the years, and Buckethead came and lived with his family for a time. The editor said that was a really kind person, who would spend hour after hour in his room, just playing his guitar, for 9 or 10 hours straight. He said that while he had a natural aptitude for playing guitar, the amount of time and effort he spent practicing and learning was mind blowing, and that's what really makes his playing so spectacular.
I have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Bucket, I'm not sure if even those that like and follow him know all the work sessions and behind the scene work this guy has done. You just watched the GOAT
Best guitarist ever IMHO
He is the Megalodon of guitarists
HE is 6”7 and a bad MFer
Plays a oversized baritone guitar
Has over 600 albums
His left hand seems to have a life of its own. The rest of his body is merely surplus to requirements.
Living legend, buckethead is all in a class of his own.
Listen to Dawn Appears, Hall of Alluminum, Whitewash
He is a master
7:26...... the face we all made the first time we were blown away by BH...and after all these years we are also still processing. :)
She thought he was a joke. LOL Cute young lady.
t takes 20 yrs of playing to get the picking on the level he is at and skipping all of the 6th notes all through the chord modes; flawless control of harmonics... impressive mystery guy
He’s so good
