I've seen Bill's routines over and over and he has me in stitches every time! He's said it before that if he can "piss off everyone in the room" then his job is complete. He's a brilliant comedian.
That reminds me of a Patrice O'Neal quote. "The idea of comedy, really, is not everyone should be laughing. It should be 50 people laughing, and 50 people horrified."
His skill is that by pissing ppl off he's managing to somehow communicate that he's been paying attention and cares enough about you to see you. He's one of the few people that can manage to do this without making people feel attacked if they actually are paying attention.

I never got that from Burr. I think the process of learning to be more assertive for someone who is a people pleaser take courage. Burr just seems like a guy who talks his mouth off because he's naturally indifferent. I never got the sense he put any effort into it, so I never got courage from him.

I disagree. He does have filters and he's fully aware of them and that's why he can tackle "sensitive" topics and make it funny to everybody, even when they're the butt of the joke. A person without filters have a tendency to "cross the line" or rather crash the line with plump jokes that often lands wrong.

I think part of that might be from scheduling events that have both tickets on it at the same time helps with the revenue. I don't see it as a generalized skill or training issue in most cases. Those women work hard to be there for the most part.
i went to a 5000 and a 20 000 seated bill burr show and what i can say is if you can go to a smaller one, he riffs more and it felt like he was more relaxed. both were amazing but in the smaller show he riffed about a bunch of stuff like ocean gate and did it so well i cried laughing! Love bill
That clip from The Conan O'Brien Show was pure gold. The best part was the way that the actress (Lea DeLaria) reacted. She didn't get offended, because she knew it wasn't about attacking her. Ot was about what was legitimately funny. So she affectionately held Bill's arm as she laughed her ass off. The best comedy always comes from telling the truth that we all ignore. Comedians are like modern day prophets. They revealing the bullshit that society tries to tell us is reality. But deep down we all know the difference. And we're vindicated when a good comedian cuts through the lies.

He's not lying about women taking over football. I've been a die hard fan since early childhood and have seriously been considering turning it off for good. I remember when Sam Wyche (Bengals Head Coach) was torched for kicking female reporters out of the players locker room. Everyone raised hell and they were then permitted in the locker room. Imagine if a male reporter complained about not being allowed in the ladies locker room as they are running around naked.
You caught it at 10:14. Yes Bill will admit himself he's a hypocrite and half the stuff he gets mad about he is guilty of too. He's also been with his wife for 20 years married for 11 with 2 kids and goes out of his way to praise her any chance he gets. So while Bill does have an anger problem and is very opinionated, this all just comedy and he isn't too serious about any of it.
I already liked Maddy and thought she was gorgeous but after seeing Maddy's unexpected logical real world reactions to these jokes put her on another level in my book.

Bill is great and i really loved your reactions. He likes to dance around the line as you say and isn't afraid to stay in the pocket when it gets uncomfortable. Obviously he exaggerates for comic effect. IRL he's a sweetheart who loves his wife and he always talks about getting up every morning to make breakfast for his kids and takes them to do stuff every day.

No pay? This is something women always say, but it's like...if you're a stay at home mother, we're assuming you have a husband working? Is the "free" housing not payment? Food? Entertainment? Running water? Electricity? You get paid for being a wife/mother, just not monetarily.

He's not lying about women taking over football. I've been a die hard fan since early childhood and have seriously been considering turning it off for good. I remember when Sam Wyche (Bengals Head Coach) was torched for kicking female reporters out of the players locker room. Everyone raised hell and they were then permitted in the locker room. Imagine if a male reporter complained about not being allowed in the ladies locker room as they are running around naked.
You caught it at 10:14. Yes Bill will admit himself he's a hypocrite and half the stuff he gets mad about he is guilty of too. He's also been with his wife for 20 years married for 11 with 2 kids and goes out of his way to praise her any chance he gets. So while Bill does have an anger problem and is very opinionated, this all just comedy and he isn't too serious about any of it.
I already liked Maddy and thought she was gorgeous but after seeing Maddy's unexpected logical real world reactions to these jokes put her on another level in my book.
