Oh, and yes… you’re absolutely correct that “Jordan” is a reference to Michael. Buckethead is a huge basketball fan, and you can easily find videos of him performing in a Jordan jersey
You asked about his tapping and how much was technique vs. gain. Mostly technique. Gain, or more specifically compression, definitely helps makes the individual notes easier to produce with less physical force required. But more importantly, compression keeps all the notes at the same volume, which also aids sustain (you don’t have the sharp peak of the note’s attack and then have it quickly fade).
The difference is that guys like Buckethead don’t go long periods of time without playing/practicing. They treated it like a job even before it was a job. I was like that in my late teens and early 20s, there was a stretch of about 5 years where I played a minimum of four hours a day every day, and usually it was more like 8-10 hours a day. I had designs on being a professional musician, but it was the early ‘90s and the anti-technical movement (grunge and then nu-metal) had taken over, and I (probably wisely) decided guitar was better for me as a hobby than a career :) I still play (I’m 52 now), though not as well as when I was younger. And it’s really the lack of dedicated practice time… I can go weeks at a time without picking up a guitar, and it’s pretty much impossible to maintain your skills (forget actually getting better) without putting in the time.
@Wyl7 yep. Sax player here. I was pretty much doing the same amount of practice time as you at that age. You are correct about being consistent with practice. Here’s something I hope encourages you; My saxophone teacher who played with the Doobie bros and Steely Dan told me “ It’s better to practice ten minutes a day rather than five hrs on a Saturday” I’ve personally found that to be true. Our brains stay connected to music if we are consistently in it. Sort of like lifting weights, in the fact of you don’t have to have a killer workout all the time to maintain your musculature, or in music( your chops)
No need to feel bad just because BH is unbelievably amazing. Just soak it up and enjoy. A longer track that shows not only his prowess as a guitarist but his ability as a composer is Wall Slide. The title makes sense once you hit the motif riff and start sliding down the wall because your face is melting. Insane.
@@RonBluu No, a chambered body means a lot of the inner wood is removed, so underneath the top of the guitar it has air pockets rather than solid wood. giving the guitar more of a resonant sound.
You can never get too much Buckethead!
Absolutely!
Just stopped by to hear the master. I loved it when your just sitting there with your mouth open. I hope to see him soon.
This guy is amazing!!!
Buckethead is the master! Loved the reaction!
He is!! And thanks !!
This man makes me flippin fly ☺️

If you want to hear the pinnacle of musicianship and composition, have a listen to his track called Far. It's about 28 minutes long.
Nottingham lace live!!!!

Jordan is dedicated to MJ. Buckethead got a few basketball tribute songs. Such as Redeem Team.
Nice!
Badassery is BuckETheaD like no other
Just saw him in Atlanta.
Yes, he is still badass.
If he does an Ohio or Detroit show I’m there !!
That giant Marshall amp helps his sound but it’s mostly his technique
There's nobody like Buckethead. Btw, he's on tour right now, check him out if you can.
You probably already know this by now, but Gibson makes a Buckethead signature guitar set up exactly like his.
Chamber body guitars help a lot my man.
Does chamber bodies mean it’s a modern guitar?

Hardest song in Guitar Hero 2......
Can you react to Buckethead - torch please?!
I got you!!
Buckethead- final wars or Lebron
