People shit on SF2 in general so much despite those games having some of the most fun versions of every character except maybe Cammy. Can't appreciate what they've lost in favor of watered-down versions of their favorite characters made to appeal to people who don't play or understand fighting games while wanting them to change in order to suit their own warped view of what a "good" game should be like (usually balanced, predictable, and orderly to the point of boring homogenization).
One thing i liked about sf2 in general is that it's not super dependent on combos. You can win by any tactics like zoning or any type of traps. It feels more like chess.
i am still trying to understand what do meant when you said "most newer fighting games feels heavy". then again i don't play much older games so it's hard to make comparisons
Movement in newer fighting games are either conditional, restrictive or both. Besides that, stuff like camera slowdown on counterhits or grabs for example make the game feel heavier.
I like seeing low tier heroes like Fei Long take out O. Sagat players. What do you think of Ultra SF2 on the Switch? I wouldn't mind trying it out, they added some funky stuff like throw teching.
Could you put more effort into playlisting this year? Your videos have already covered a lot of ground, and so it helps newer viewers to have the topics already grouped together, so that we don't have to ask you about something you addressed before.
Technically it had one patch - Removal of the Zangief magic throw. Even more technically, that may be a Super patch that could be applied to ST cabs that updated Super without the patch that allowed the magic throw in ST. Whatever the case, yes it is the GOAT.
i cant stand the new blood talking shit about the classics. idk at what point people decided these games that have been obsessively played and unchanged for 20+ years are bad.
seriously, again I dont remember was it 2 years ago or something now when I made all those footsie videos cuz I just couldnt believe you had all these dudes trying to talk about footsies and its like wtf you have no idea what youre even talking about. You dont even know what the word means.. and then nonsense like vega is unbeatble because his footsies are to strong. Like jesus... if you are actually using the term footsies correctly would know his footsies LOSE to other characters. Its one of his weaknesses from a traditional meaning of the word in SF compared to a character like Ryu who the wording actually comes from. The whole reason his wall dive stuff etc is strong is because that traditional footsie stuff if youre actually using the real meaning of it that we used back in the day at least is because its weak. Just complete nonsense listening to the way that people talk about SF2 now a days.
What do you think about the top tiers in ST? To me that's what has always been the issue with ST and why I don't consider it the greatest SF title. Vega and Sagat always seem really degenerate to me and they're so prevalent at the highest level. While Yun, and Ken are really strong in 3S for example, they are really fun to watch and play around the systems in a cool way. Idk I feel like its a great game still, but slightly gets beat out by 4 for me as the best sf title. Very close though. I think SF4 combines what's great about every game prior with it's systems, and is REALLY varied and complex while being really approachable. (basically it's what everyone pretends SF6 is rn lol) As far as the worst game (other than sf1 ofc) is EASILY SF6 imo. You put into words exactly why I fking hate that game before I even fully understood why. It's a mockery of what makes SF great and different. I'd be curious to see a video where you talk about every SF game. What you like and what you don't like about each one and maybe ranking them? Would be cool.
i think 2 > 4 > 3 but anyone of these are worthy of best street fighter. I don't think Yun is fun to watch though i think i would honestly rather watch chun
@@michaelmoonlight4484 Most people think that Chun is the boring one. I think both are fun to watch personally. 4 is just insane though. Absolutely insane variety of playstyles, and each character feels individually deep and interacts with the systems differently. I think SF2 is simplicity made into perfection, but it lacks a bit of depth and polish which I tend to prefer. Still the absolute gold standard of fighting games though. Every character is distinct and plays uniquely. There's tons of skill expression without it feeling like it takes away the fundementals.
yea theres already many many videos on that game discussing it at many different levels on my channel. Its not a game that holds up to any scrutiny whatsoever. And the games biggest dick suckers have run from me even in it so that should tell you something when I dont even play the game.
new games are totally unconsidered. the idea of the "update" allows devs to push shit out without thinking; what they make can always be undone, so it's okay to not think about what you're doing. not to mention how fuck ugly new games are
I agree with everything you said. As a child I remember playing casually in the arcades... but when HDR came out I was older and decided to buy a stick and "get good". I miss those nights after work playing koth lobbies all night winner stays on. If anyone doesn't know "HDR" was a remaster / updated version of Super Turbo that came out right before SF4 and you can only play it on xbox 360 or ps3 :(
8:50 how many money now involved in sf2? If it was at least comparable to KofXV, people would play Guile/Sagat x100 times. They want to make fast money, choose the safest path and quit insead of making experiments. I doubt anyone will enter 5k+ bucks tournament as Cammy, saying let's to this shiеt. Game's old and autistic, good music tho also sf2 without "patches" is x3 times slower lel
@@CriticalQuacker >How is Super Turbo autistic? 2k25, most of highlevel sets ends with 2 hit combos and boring spam of only one special move. two/three jabs into super means a cool combo Now compare this crap to regular sf6 match
@@Gera56s You mean button into dr the game? Yeah, ST is more interesting even with the broken stuff, at least the characters play diferent from each other.
@@Gera56s You clearly have no idea what is going on in ST. SF6 is SO boring to watch with every combo being a dial a combo with 5 frames of input buffer leniency. It's the equivalent of fighting game fast food and diet soda. If your criteria of a good fighting game is the length of the combos, you clearly have no idea what makes a good fighting game.

Well, there it is. It's finally settled
Hey, I think Chrono is one of the best turn-based rpg ever and it came out in 95

just look at a match in guilty gear strive vs guilty gear accent core and you'll see what he means.

"SF2T... you might be the best Street Fighter game...but Marvel VS Capcom 2 is the best fighting game of all time." - Kanye West
Mahvel 2 isn't even the best Mahvel game.
this channel never fails to make me chuckle

ST is the 2D GOAT hands down and like you said, by far.

Nice Vid. I know I'm old, but I always felt Super Turbo best, with Third Strike second.
