stfu. u foo,ls .the ,meguairs compound he was using was stronger chemmical and compound than the turtle wax. all you have to do is get a stronger grade of compound from turtle wax, companys have diffrent views on what is a light, medium, and heavy duty cleaner,, polisher. and compound thats all. tutle wax might have had a lighter formula whcch the specific one he was using. try gettiing the next grade of compound and then compare them for real results, fuktards. i dont know what you fools are thinking

I just used a DA for the 1st time and went with Meguiars ultimate compound followed by the ultimate polish, it turned out very good and I didn't ruin anything. I'm actually surprised how it came out for my 1st time. Gives me confidence to go after more defects.

I must thank you Scott. I was at the auto parts store last week end. I bought the turtle wax be cause it was much cheaper. I figured Meguiar's was most likly a bunch of marketing bull. I watch your channel often & I must thank you for helping us back yard guys with your knowledge.

I think anyone with normal wear and tear on their paint from using car washes and normal stuff and bought the HF DA and the ultimate compound and polish can make their car look great. May not kill 2000 grit marks but most people that care at all for their car don't have scratches like that in the paint.
I like that they offer a version to the masses that can't hurt your paint. Even if you did 3 rounds of ultimate compound you can't remove enough clear to damage.
Yes other pro products are more efficient but for the masses, the ultimate compound and polish are a nice "safe" product that can still do some work

I used Meguiars today for the first time with a Harbor Freight DA. I have a black Toyota 4Runner that has spiderweb scratches from carwash this winter. I would be way to nervous to have mine on such a high speed. Anyway the Ultimate Compound worked great. I would say it lifted 80 to 90 percent of the scratches. That's good enough for me looks great. I used an orange pad.

This guy's uploads are superb. I might add that I got somewhat different results in my own experiment a month back. Many variables are involved, technique, type of paint (OEM vs non OEM), temperature, pads etc. I wet sanded my entire car last month and was also curious. I used the Turtle Wax product on the front bumper and used M105 on the rest of the car. DA with cotton/terry bonnet. The front bumper looked amazing and just as good as the rest of the car done with M105 but I did notice you had to be FAST with the Turtle Wax product. The paint was non OEM and was very finicky at times. I wasn't afraid because I was the one who painted it a year ago but got lots of orange peel as this was my 2nd time painting an entire car. Finished off car with M205 and finally Gold Class wax. The car looks amazing and gets looked at in traffic. It's a 20 year old car mind you. Thank you for your informative videos keep up the great work !

I bought about 6 different compounds to restore the black paint on my car that had sat for years under a tree - including some professional meguiars compound, even their 2nd most aggressive. Used a wool pad, and a HF rotary polisher. The Mequiars Ultimate by far outperformed them all.. their ultimate line, esp the soap, compound, and wax - is just amazing.

Ultimate compound is great for a consumer/retail level product. It’s not as aggressive as M105 but it’s safe for beginners like me! I had great results working on my car, got rid of all the swirl marks and medium scratches. Only the deeper scratches remain, albeit less obvious.

I use Meguairs Ultimate on EVERYTHING! It's awesome! Chrome, showers, paint, windows, and everything else you can imagine, it just works. I used it on my 05 truck that I bought that had probably not been washed in 3 years, I washed, clayed, and then used Ultimate Compound on it and it turned out absolutely amazing, the truck literally looked like new! Washed again, waxed it, and wow, it held up great. Absolutely adore Meguiars Ultimate Compound!

Meguiar's ultimate compound is for me one of the best compound "consumer and beginner" of market, in addition to being safe for body shops, without fillers, it's really a good little brother of the M105! Once trained with ultimate compound then ultimate polish, we are then able to move to M105, M110 etc. Followed by M205 and M210

I do a Turtle Wax heavy compound, Meguires 105, 1st coat Meguires Tech Wax and a top coat of Turtle Wax hard shell. It gets it real clean, the tech gives the show and that hard shell protects. It's a lot of work but looks great. Anything heavy I get into my 3M compounds.

I used Ultimate Compound after I 2500 gritted my entire car with a squeegee wet sand. I was able to remove most of the orange peel. I used more product than the three dots you put on your pad. I also used a much less abrasive pad than you though. So, I had to go back over a few spots, but all the scratches came out. Then I used the ultimate polish/ swirl remover. Then finished with hand wiping on the ultimate synthetic wax to really make it pop. My car has a wet look all the time. The reflection quality is beyond amazing. I just use my duster on a regular basis, and use the ultimate detailer spray when I get extra Grime on it. I rarely wash it. I get positive comments all the time about the paint. " is that a custom paint job"...lol
I've even fooled a few car painters.

High speed orbital with a wool cutting pad with just water with two passes would cut better, oscillating orbitals are mostly used for final step polishing and removing swirl marks. Trust me its the grit of the pad used! I can use a spray on wax with 5 step level grit pads and get a bring a 1000 grit block sanding back to a mirror shine. I have done it!

Another great video from Scott and the fine folks at Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing.
Ive been repairing and restoring Exotic/Super cars for 20 years and I use and recommend MeGuires Ultimate Compound. It's a safe bet to use any MeGuires products on your car they make a superior product. It has been my experience that each car is different and at the level of car I work on they are treated individually. Some cars want to look good and some will fight you all the way to the polish line. In addition to MeGuire products I have several others I use. When first working on a car I do a test to see which product will produce the best result and while Meguire products are my default brand I'm open to using any product that works best on that car. So don't be afraid to try a couple of different products to see which one works best for your car and for you. If it's great stuff but a pain to apply, or remove and because of that you don't use it that much try something else. Once a year, or more, take your car to have it professionally detailed it's like driving a new car again.

As an skeptical amateur who does detailing from my own garage, i think Meguiars Ultimate Compound work just like any professional compound on the market. Of course its better to finish with 3000grit before compound but the Meguiars could remove 2000grit easy. I never had success with Turtlewax compound. I always direct people to the Ultimate Compound

Let's be fair, It didn't beat up anything from Turtle Wax. The Ulta Compound is more aggressive than the Turtle Rubbing. The UC abrasive also degrades into finer grit so it's a compound and a polish in one product. The Turtle doesn't play like that. There's more scratches on the Turtle side of the panel. Look at it before you started polishing. The Ultra Compound is $10.00 at Walmart, $4 and something for the Turtle product.I've noticed you have some GREAT pricing at your local shitmart store compared to mine. Same thing on your best 6" polisher price you quoted. When WE go to buy them they are double what you said.

McGuires has carnauba wax, paraffin, and other waxes in it…which is fine if you don’t want to wax after prepping. I think the turtle polishing compound is a better choice to get to final stage of a good graphene type wax, after ipa applied to remove the polish.

4:05 If you watch closely, all the heavy scratches he done was on the left side, and watch how he lost grip of that foam? You could clearly see that it was much harder he did on the left than right. And when he does it on the right, just some light scrubing.
    8:23 amount of Turtle Wax
    13:26 amount of Meguiar's
I don't think there are even close.
I am not saying that he did it on purpose. I am researching videos to look for a product myself. I just think it's not a fair demostration.

Not tryna bash your hypotheticals, but if you made the same test avoiding these errors he made, I’d bet that the results would still be about the same. Turtle wax makes some good products, especially with their “ice seal n shine”, but when it comes to paint correction on a retail level, meguiars is the best bang for your buck.

I have that turtle wax product and it's actually a two stage compound. There is another bottle in black that will get the big scratches out and then you hit it with what you have there and it looks pretty good. Just a heads up on the turtle wax product... Not being a douchebag lol but it does make a difference to do the two stages.

I noticed the same damage and compound size on the pads.. You have to realize that Turtle-Wax is focused on cleaners and protectants while 3M/Meguiars has extensive experience making compounds at different levels of paint correction for the professional market. The chrome polish from TW is excellent for the price and their ICE line is also outstanding. Compounds have a designated purpose, the professional brands are always made to out perform consumer grade.

stfu. u foo,ls .the ,meguairs compound he was using was stronger chemmical and compound than the turtle wax. all you have to do is get a stronger grade of compound from turtle wax, companys have diffrent views on what is a light, medium, and heavy duty cleaner,, polisher. and compound thats all. tutle wax might have had a lighter formula whcch the specific one he was using. try gettiing the next grade of compound and then compare them for real results, fuktards. i dont know what you fools are thinking

Long story-short, go with Meguiar’s over Turtle compound. Turtle brand may have been great on your grandpa’s car in the 60s but when it comes to cars these days (especially black glossy ones), Meguiar’s is the way to go. And you can’t beat that low price! Thanks for the video! :)

I've been using the Mequiars UC and the Griots Fast CC. I honestly can't say one is any better than the other. The Mequiars was easier for me to clean off. The Turtle Wax was horrible.

Meguiar's uses the same type of abrasive in UC that they do M105. They just give it ingredients that make it more user friendly. Unfortunately, these ingredients don't allow for it to be used in body shops. Good thing is that I rarely work in a body shop!
I love the Ultimate Line, and use them as often as possible.
Great review and comparison, one of the best I've ever seen.

Hey Scott, my 2004 mystic blue BMW has somewhat a rough clearcoat but it is still clear and adhered to the paint. Outside 24/7 it has toweling swirl marks, some scratches here and there, a little etching and some dryness. Wanting to remove the swirls, spidering and etching I used UC with the Drill DA and the Red pad and it nearly destroyed the clear coat...really clouded and hazed. Tried it twice...slow speed, fast speed, 1) the temp was over 90 degrees in the shade red pad and 2) in the 40s (nice and cool) with shade with the red pad. Both times it immediately started to cloud the clear and I stopped. Was able to rub some of it out but much of the cloud is still there. Used Black Wax with a microfiber finishing pad on the Drill DA. The clearcoat seems to love Black Wax and the microfiber pad.... starts to come back to life looking very liquid. The cloud/haze on the hood has diminished a little but still am trying to figure out how to get it out. Did NOT use UC on the rest of the car. Only Blackwax and rest of car is OK, the clear coat is still intact and crystal clear. Only the hood is messed up after UC.
My BMW clearcoat loves Blackwax (Have used Ultimate Paste Was it it seems to love that also) with the microfiber pad.
    1. What do I use to get out the cloud and haze?
    2. What do I use as a polish to remove the swirls if UC and the red pad destroys it in seconds? Have not tried UC by hand.
I have Ultimate Polish but afraid to use it because the UC destroys my clearcoat. What do I do?

This is why on a beginner level I recommend Ultimate Compound & Polish to new beginners. It's super easy to work with, great working time, isn't super aggressive for cutting so it's hard to remove a lot of paint.
Also look into the Kevin Brown method of pad prepping, after you learn about it. It makes alot of sense, I think you'll get better results out of your polishing. :)

And I have a mobile detailing business just like you, and once college is out i'll be polishing my truck and applying CSL & C2V3 and documenting the entire process. I'm not trying to say you're polishing incorrectly at all, just giving you my thoughts and hopefully helpful tips. I enjoy the learning and sharing process of detailing.

I have a new black car that has a hairline scratch on the hood. You have to look real close to see it. The scratch is about 6 inches long and I use Meguiars Ultimate Compound with my Harbor Freight polisher did two tries at it, 4 or 5 passes each, and the scratch is less noticeable but still can be seen if the light hit's right. I guess I will have to wait to get my "Griots Garage BOSS Fast Correcting Cream" to give it another try.

I love the vids, I’m a vehicle collector with a waxing/buffing addiction. I have turtle wax, meguiars, chemical guys and a ton of others. At the moment Chemical guys is my favorite pre made, esp on new vehicles. But honestly for me my vehicles all like different stuff. Some do better with turtle wax others meguiars. So I can’t say one is better than others, Just off of that alone. Haha but my dad has used turtle wax for years that’s what I started using when I was 5yrs old helping my dad and grandfather out! So it has special place!

Hello i have a question and i hope someone can help me. The turtle wax compound he is using in the video, is it the same as "Turte Wax Rubbing Compound"? i'm trying to fix some minor small dents from rock chips on my bonnet and i was watching a video where someone used Turte Wax Rubbing Compound and then "Meguiars Ultimate Polish". I want to instead of the turtle wax rubbing compound use the meguiars ultimate compound, but i'm not sure if they do the same thing?

Ultimate Compound is M105 in consumer level.

    • @kenlawton1531
      @kenlawton1531 7 лет назад +7

UC has less cut than 105, is easier to remove and much more forgiving so it's a completely different product. They are not even close in comparison. However I get what you mean if you use the UC with the Ultimate Polish you could suggest it's the consumer version of 105 with 205.

In terms of finish they are similar, however the working time is longer with the Griots than Meguiars. The dusting is non-existent with the Perfecting Cream and Fast Correcting Cream.
