I’m neutral on it depending on how it’s executed. Are they going to try something different, hire competent people and do the character justice? Or is this a desperate cash grab and they’re just gonna turn doom into an evil iron man? Knowing Disney it’s probably the second, but there’s no sense in taking a stance until it’s out
Not really. He could wear prosthetics to the point where he's unrecognizable and just greatly acted, he could be a variant, he could be multiverse, doesn't have to touch Tony at all. Movie stars always play the same character in every movie they’re in (e.g Dwayne Johnson always plays Dwayne Johnson), whereas actors change to fit the role. What made the movies up to End Game so great is we've been wanting a connected universe with super heroes and teaming up to fight a bigger threat. The MCU finally gave that to us. But then they also made every character an iron man clone with funny quips, only they weren't as good as the original. They should have ended it at End Game. This just smells of desperation

Don’t get me wrong, RDJ is my favorite actor, but I feel like Marvel has become desperate and I’m pretty worried, considering they ditched the Kang storyline because Jonathan Majors got in trouble with the law and Quantumania flopped. Why couldn't they just hire Cilian Murphy for that part? He would've ABSOLUTELY nailed it. Or maybe he'll indeed play Doom but in the future once the MCU has been rebooted
I was hoping that Deadpool & Wolverine would break the multiverse and introduce the X-Men to the MCU. Neither of those happened. Marvel is determined to drive this into the ground

There are so many things wrong with the MCU right now that should be an easy fix: focus on their characters and tell their stories the right way. RDJ shouldn't have been brought back as anyone but an Iron Man variant. Him as Doom makes absolutely no sense, no matter how you twist it.
Honestly, you can’t say it doesn’t make sense yet because we haven’t heard the explanation. It does feel a bit like a panic nostalgia choice but we’ll really have to wait and see before figuring out if it works and if it makes sense. Plenty of amazing creative decisions have been made out of desperation (and plenty of awful ones) Once it comes out and we have the explanation I’d suggest we’re either going to be very happy or feel a little conned
@MrEwragg I don't think anything they come up with will convince me that a Tony Stark-looking variant of Doom will have been the better choice over a properly casted original Doom as the first MCU introduction to the character. But you're right-- maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. But I doubt it.
@@TheGreatMattao I think that’s fair. What I would say though, is that it’s also very likely he will be the best screen adaptation of doom to date. It just so happens that the bench mark is very low
Last year, Guardians 3 reminded people why they loved the MCU in the first place and Deadpool & Wolverine is already breaking records, I don't understand why Marvel feels the need to be desperate right now.
It’s not the only reason but there is the fact that the man in charge of the beloved Guardians 3 did such a good job that he’s now in charge of their #1 competitor probably contributed.
Tbh the only memorable MCU projects post endgame have been guardians 3, loki , spiderman no way home, wandavision(besides the last episode), and deadpool & wolverine. although that is an upwards trajectory considering majority of those are semi recent
GOTG3 is not really as successful as fans make out to be... It got lower box office with higher budget than GOTG2. (GOTG2 and GOTG3 release six years difference) The announcement was before D&W release.
@@IVMZR I kind of hated Guardians of the galaxy, marvel does these cheap emotiional plot points to manufacture empathy rather than doing good storytelling and writing. I liked Captain Marvel more than the deadpool movies, and it looks the same as the Flash and about three multiverse movies. But different strokes for different folks. It took me a few minutes to process that this wasn’t Marvel trolling like they usually do. Honestly, a better and even PERFECT idea to bring him and other actors back would be to bring the Supreme Intelligence back! The Supreme Intelligence takes the appearance of whoever the viewer admires meaning they can be played by anyone! I don’t care that Carol killed them. We’re in the Multiverse era; they can have their own variant. Maybe they know they’re doing and it’s not desperate. We have two more years to figure it out
@@theserpent8667 And Downey isn't that. He doesn't look like that. So exactly, what will he face racial persecution for since it's one of the primary things that defines Doom as a character?
2:04 Hmm, I think even before the firing of Johnathan the MCU has been in a free fall. I don’t think Kang the character or actor would’ve helped with all the failed shows and films that came before and after him. There’s a big disconnect of fans from those projects and where this is heading imo.
I don’t think the character or the performance were all that enthralling. Even if the domestic violence stuff never came out, I think marvel would still have done away with the kang storyline.
I was really confused by this casting choice. I mean, wouldn’t they want a villain like Dr. Doom to be a reappearing threat throughout the films? Doom’s got everything: genius-level intellect, armored suits that give any of Iron Man’s designs a run for their money, wealth, sorcery skills that credibly rival Dr. Strange’s, full control over his own country and all the diplomatic immunity that comes with it, and a compelling tragic backstory. I feel he would’ve worked a whole lot better as the “next Thanos” and the new overarching villain of the MCU. Unlike Kang, I can actually see Doom as being able to go toe to toe with, and perhaps even defeat, heavy hitters like Scarlet Witch, Thor, and Captain Marvel. I think he’d also work a whole lot better as being the “David Xanatos” type of villain who prioritizes intelligence and “backup plans for their backup plans” over physical might but is still MORE THAN capable of throwing down against any opponent when he needs to. Doom would be practically unstoppable if it wasn’t for his grudge against Mr. Fantastic that’s Eobard Thawne levels of pettiness. Though his petty grudge against Reed has always made sense of course; Doom’s a narcissist incapable of admitting to having made a mistake, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the very personal matter of trying to find a way to communicate with his beloved mother.
I want to live in the timeline where the MCU & DCU are actually LIKE the comics, i.e. different actors and directors doing their own versions of the characters, some getting multiple movies to do bigger stories, but most just being one-shots where different people get their chance to tell their versions of the stories.
Yes! And not every threat / villain has to be "world ending". It's not like after you save the world/ universe smaller threats just don't exist. The best storylines focus on character development, not on the scale of the villain's threat.
Doctor Doom is my favourite Marvel villain and such a complex character with a fantastic rivalry with Reed Richards (pun intended). Though I LOVE RDJ, and the man as Iron was the catalyst for starting the MCU in the beginning as a phenomenal actor, but nevertheless I do worry if this casting will affect how they adapt Doom since his rivalry with Reed and Latverian/Romani heritage, which are both quintessential aspects of his character. Regardless, Im willing to give this a chance and Im excited to see Doctor Doom return to the big screen again, but Im still very adamant about this casting. They could explore a solid story about Tony being his worst enemy and the biggest threat to the multiverse; since the MCU started with RDJ, it feels rather poetic that it would end with him. I do think they can touch on good themes surrounding the power of our choices, as Doom could reflect the juxtaposition of Tony's entire character arc in the MCU since Tony learned humility and what it means to make sacrifices for others because of his experience in Afghanistan and friendship with the Avengers, Doom on the other started out with nothing as a Romani peasant and lost his whole family and had to learn to fend for himself mastering both science and magic and liberating the people of his country and becoming the ruler of Latveria for the better, thus creating this god-complex in Doom and establishing an underlying sense of resentment for others if they disagree with his perspective as shown with his immense pettiness against Reed Richards fueling their iconic rivalry, so there is room for them to explore the parallels between the two. But the problem with that is that no matter how you choose to see Doom as his own character in the MCU despite being played by RDJ, you are still going to look at Doctor Doom and think of Iron Man, which is so disheartening since Doom has hardly anything to do with Iron Man as his own origin, motivation and complex and burning hatred for Reed Richards and the Fantastic Four are what makes Doom one of the most influential villains in fiction. I feel mixed about the casting since they're hyping up this movie by bringing back RDJ. Not to mention, there were better choices out there to play Doom and indeed allow the character to be their own individual villain to truly make a name for themselves, not to mention actually cast a European actor to better portray and tap into Doom's Romani heritage (some of my fan castings included Rufus Sewell, Dominic Rains, Nikolaj Costa Waldu etc...) all without the need of being tied down to a previous MCU character that completed their arc. But like I said, I'm always happy to be proven wrong since RDJ will surely do a great job. Still, since the character has been done terribly in all of his live-action appearances, and this will be the 4th time they will see the character, a lot is riding on them to truly nail Doctor Doom for a whole new generation. Guess Harvey Dent was right: *"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain"*
This is such a crime against art! Doom is the best comicbook villain and Disney is using him as stunt casting, a cheap ploy to win back audiences. 😮💨😮💨😮💨
It’s a crime that Madd Mikkelsen was in talks with Disney to play Dr. Doom, only for them to go with Downey. They threw out what was most people’s dream casting
@@SOPHIA-LOVES-MEATBALLS-69 I get what you mean, but that's not the point. He may have already played a character in another Marvel movie, but so did RDJ. The argument that he couldn't play Doom because he's already appeared as another character doesn't make any sense.
I hope they make Doom stays in his mask because i hate it when you give a character a cool helmet or mask they just never put it on. Doom is a very serious character god I hope they don't make him do quirky one liners
This is definitely done out of desperation (to gain traction etc.), however it can still be executed well. There are so many ways they can approach this casting, they just need to not do any bad ones. And depending how they adapt Doom, RDJ is very much capable to play him. Because we literally have zero info, we have basically no idea how they’ll do it. One I wouldn’t mind is if as a baby of a child, bla bla bla, gets kidnapped or family caught in accident, and he gets adopted. Therefore while technically a variant of Tony, is really just Victor but with extra steps. And could be used to make the stakes clear to the audience who may not know much about him. Everyone knows how smart Stark is so imagine fighting him. Thanos took many films to build up. If done like this, Doom would also have been ‘built up’, as in, we know what kind of threat he can posses (as an audience not knowledgable with the comics). One of the most important, maybe the most important one, is that they need the acting and writing direction to be far removed from Tony Stark. At most, the only familiar element should be his intelligence and also possibly anxiety from external threats.
Thank you for voicing your concerns. I’m also worried about this story arc. I have the 94 movie on RUclips. I don’t care that there are still fans who don’t acknowledge that movie. It had the best Doctor Doom by far and most of the Fantastic Four looked really good too. The only one who I would cling to from the 2000s version is Michael Chicklis as The Thing who I thought did a better job of capturing his emotions in the role. This is a very desperate journey Marvel is on right now. Also as much as I like RDJ, I need to see them do something really different with him before I trust their desiccation to him right now. Given the fact that it’s so hard not to see him as Iron Man. If they give us a decent different story then I’ll give it a chance for now but otherwise I’m gonna bail out and go back to the Marvel cartoons where I know they have better stories.
I think Downey can give us a fresh take. When have the Russo brothers ever let us down, they did a fantastic job ever since Winter Soldier till Endgame. (Infinity War had the best plot twist in the whole MCU till this day cannot be unmatched ) People criticised Robert Pattinson as Batman and were blown away by his acting skills and interpretation of the complex character Downey this year just won an Oscar showing us what his capable of outside of fictional movies(Oppenheimer) Robert has a range of acting skills which have never been explored, Dr Doom is that perfect chance for him to show us exactly what he can bring Whichever way us fans may feel I’m confident that in 2026 we will truly be amazed when he appears on the big screen.
Doom's personality is something that can't be easily replicated without coming off as cartoonish and it needs to be played seriously, which I do think RDJ has the talent, especially if you see his older movies in which he was a villain, but to say that he will give a "fresh take" is an insult to Doom. Doom doesn't need a "fresh take". Doom is Doom!
I'm not really worried about whether or not RDJ can play Doom, I'm confident he's got the skills for it. My concern is that the MCU's writing has been overwhelmingly hit-or-miss lately, with few real hits. After the last phase I just dropped the MCU because I didn't feel engaged by it anymore. Bringing RDJ back in general screams desperation and that doesn't give me confidence that the writing will improve.
To me it only works if there’s a logical, exciting story reason for them to look the same. We’ve seen variants of all sorts at this point, but I need Doom to use this to his ADVANTAGE
I think the original MCU worked because there weren’t so many people critiquing the MCU as the MCU was happening, and because we didn’t have a standard to be met like we do now after Infinity War & Endgame. At the beginning of the video, the clip says “you can’t win,” and that’s how Marvel must be feeling right about now, with everyone criticizing things before they even happen. Before the announcement, I’d heard over & over that they shouldn’t have gotten rid of RDJ or Chris Evans, now they bring back RDJ & again the fans are complaining about that. They can’t please everyone, and they should focus on making something good, but they also need to pay attention or social media might bury the movie before it even releases. They can’t win.
The exact same thing that’s happening to Star Wars. And the same thing happened to the Witcher. I don’t even know why it’s happening. Are all the writers bad? Is it bad directors? Do the higher ups constantly change and meddle in the project making it a mess? Are the films just extremely rushed? Or do Disney just demand that they try and do the ‘safe’ thing rather than create something original because they think it’ll make more money? And if it is bad writers/directors who’s decision is it to hire these people and why do they keep doing it? Nepotism? You’d think the idea of ‘good film = better for company’ would be simple, but at some stage they keep messing everything up and I have absolutely no clue why.
@@BananaWasTaken yeah it's hard to say why it's happening, especially for us that are outside of hollywood. but i think it's that movies are making more money than eve, and the huge success of a few have caused a gold rush for executives / investors who want to repeat that success. the problem is they don't understand why it was successful in the first place - because they don't actually like they movies, they just like the money they make. they attribute it to things like branding, marketing, famous actors. they cannot see quality, and don't think it's an important part of success. they aren't trying to make good movies, they are trying to make profitable movies. marketing has such a big impact on the success of the movies that they most likely blame marketing for the failure of a movie rather than the quality. i honestly dont see it changing any time soon. when the person in charge of the whole production only cares about making money, it's never going to result in something great. the only time it turns out great is when they're trying to do something that's never been done before - iron man was an attempt at making an unknown character popular and launching a series of connected movies, and avengers were trying to tie together a big team of super heroes into one. now that both have been done, they don't need to prove anything, they just want to repeat it. the first star wars movies were great because they were trying to be groundbreaking. the rest were mediocre because they were trying to recapture the success of the originals. they focus so much on trying to make them success and appealing to a wide group, that it ends up being appealing to no one. whenever you focus on success instead of execution, you get something mediocre.
@@BananaWasTaken I think it's about risk. Movies, especially superhero movies have such bloated budgets they HAVE to make a profit or the studio is in trouble. This makes the studios risk averse, and forces writers and directors to play it safe, ironically leading to bad and/or boring movies filled with nostalgia bait that fewer and fewer people are interested in seeing.
I am hoping against all hope that it is some kind of a trojan horse. Doom enters the MCU using Tony Stark's appearance knowing full well that it would disarm some of the strongest Avengers.
@@Nerdstalgic Knowing that Disney uses anything to capitalize on their stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought him back because of his Oscar win At least, that's why I believe they ensured Chloe Zhao and Nomadland's victory, considering the movie is from Fox and that Disney just acquired it
The Problem is that Marvel ONLY Hired Downey for HIS face and voice, NOT for his acting talent. IF for the whole film, and that is a BIG IF, Robert Stays under the mask, then it will probably be A decent/good movie. But when the trailer Drops And first thing we see is Doom Unmasking himself, then its a clear sign to NOT watch the movie.
While I'm curious about this, from a story-building perspective I'm pretty shocked they didn't just recast Kang and keep moving. Characters get recast in long-running series all the time. If you're worried about how different the actor is, make up some shit about how the multiverse reincarnated him because of timeline energy flux blabbity-blah. Most people wouldn't even blink. It's a problem fixable in a writer's room over an afternoon.
We just know Hollywood too well. Bringing Robert Downey Jr in as Doom shows they have no faith in the script. If they did, they'd confidently hire a less famous but still competent actor to save on the budget. The solution is to rework the script, which takes time. But no no no LINE MUST GO UP FILMING MUST START IMMEDIATELY MOVIE MUST RELEASE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
Dr. Doom is always a physically imposing character in the comics and is anything but lighthearted about how he does things. Robert Downey is 60 and is usually a joky/witty character. Maybe it can be an interesting storyline, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to feel like I didn't get the "real" Dr. Doom as a cost of this narrative choice. Which is disappointing. They could've gone with a young new actor, but they are playing it safe to not mess with the IP and it's going to result in another "could have been great" scenario.
My theory is that Downey is just a stand-in/variant, the real Doom will appear in Secret Wars (someone they probably haven't casted yet, maybe Cillian Murphy idk.)
yes rdj as DR DOOM makes no sense but i think the bigger problem is the amount of plot holes they have created since end game theres so many post credit scenes that make absolutely no sense as to why , who or what.
Well idk at this point. It contradicts the ending of endgame meaning that the “canon” ending never mattered. But I also blame Disney on trying to force this “multiverse” saga on us wayyyyyy too much
they have spent about 200mil already just on Russo and RDJ contracts. to make a movie itself they will spend 200mil more. they will spend another 100mil on marketing and "miscellaneous". the total budget of the movie is going to be at least 500mil. it will need a 1 billion box office just to break even. It's very difficult to see this ever working out.
I'm not feeling RDJ as Doom, not gonna lie. Doom is supposed to be menacing, terrifying even, way more than other Marvel villains. Juggernault, Taskmaster, Kingpin and even Hydra are just "tuesday" for the Avengers and F4. But Doom? When his name comes up, EVERYONE gets serious. He's almost like Darkseid from DC in that regard, and I don't think RDJ can deliver such "aura". Would love to be proven wrong tho.
I’m still in the camp that wanted to see the Kang storyline wrap up. Kang is so awesome in the comics. Hopefully we get a little bit of a transition in the movies. Like seeing Doom overtake Kang. Something that ends his story because they left such a big cliffhanger at the end of Quantumania.
I watched Deadpool on Saturday and after coming back from the theater and seeing this revelation on Comic Con and I couldn't stop thinking about Deadpool 3's idea of the "Anchor Being" and many people were already discussing how RDJ's Stark was that for the MCU and lo and behold whe got him back on the MCU, maybe it could be desperation just lime Deadpool picking a Wolverine to save his world Kevin Feige and company are also desperate to save their cinematic universe from the slow death it is suffering.
If andor a dead guy can get a show. Marvel should do miniseries with the cameos bin. A 2000s ff fighting the moleman and kiju in the city. Janes punisher fighting his version of a king pin
I think it's a cool idea, given that they've been hammering us with multiverse stuff for the last few years, but it is a hail mary pass for sure. I wish they would build on their successful new properties, like Shang Chi and Falcon.
I’ve been hearing alot of this. This is coming from someone who hasn’t seen more then half of the film since endgame but they haven’t even rolled cameras yet. Rdj is an amazing actor. Let’s see what they do
all the people that could’ve got that role instead of RDJ David Alpay - FROM TV Series Penn Badgley - Margin Call (Movie) Jared Padalecki - Supernatural TV Series Rupert Friend - Hitman Agent 47 (Movie) Jamie Campbell - Stranger Things
RDJ had always been a deep drill character actor. He would do well to evolve within the MCU to achieve more challenging new roles leaving his great path for others to follow. I love it. I want a new Iron Man now. I want this role to be so good that we dont want RDJ to go near the arc reactor again.
"RD Jr. isn‘t the type of actor to embody Doom" Well, you say that, but you have seen his range as an actor, right? If directed well, I have a lot of faith that he would be able to portray a character like Doom very well, in fact, I suspect his portrayal of Doom just might have the potential of being so incredibly unlike Stark that it‘d be very easy to tell the two apart
Im scared but I am going to cautiously trust the process. I trust the actor. I trust the character, I cautiously trust the studio. Some real Marvel stinkers recently but also the Deadpool movie gives me hope that it can still be done well.
How much of the overall budget did they spend on a marketing stunt and a lead actor? I bet, that they spent so much that Doom would be walking in a mask 5 min tops.
if they brought back anyone, it should've been Josh Brolin to play Dr. Doom. great actor and played a great villain already. he also gives off a more stern, aggressive vibe than RDJ which would suit Doom better. but i'm also gonna hold judgement until we see what happens. if RDJ can play an Australian guy who's pretending to be black, then he can probably play Doom too. and if he keeps the mask on plus a little voice changing, it won't even feel like Tony at all.
I think that character is a most superior being in the multiverse, who’s going to be the villain for all. It makes sense it would be an amalgamation of the best from current universe and other beings from other universes that we haven’t seen yet, like doom or any other villain. Just a being that is the ultimate bad guy, who could that be, Tony Stark plus Doom. Who shadows both of them, something like that. For a multiverse film i would imagine some wild villain, and rdj playing doom, is a wild villain. It makes sense for overall mcu aswell. I think it could work. But a doom character should ve been established already to make sense of an ultimate multiverse variant. Thats what i think logically would happen and make sense, given russo are involved.
I actually think it could work, as long as they *commit* to making RDJ play Doom completely straight. No "alternate Tony Stark," no "dramatic reveal where they realize he looks exactly like Iron Man." I think RDJ has the screen presence to capture Doom's villainous charisma - I just don't want the character to be dragged down by that kind of obvious story. If Disney hired RDJ just to put him in the mask and never use his face for marketing, then that is a ballsy gamble that I can at least respect a little bit. We *know* RDJ has the charisma to embody an egotistical person - Tony quite literally is that for many movies. I think he could totally lean further into that direction
It could work where introduce doom as a character. Then in phase 7, you have a new doom and go a bit deeper in explaining him. My only concern is if RDJ hits it out of the park, people will have trouble accepting another actor in the role. It’s too bad they shit the bed with Kang.
If I were them, I’d choose an actor that has potential to play Doctor Doom, like Michael Kelly (you may know him from Special Ops Lioness, or as I first knew him [which shows he has potential to play a villain] Chronicle) or maybe since Disney likes nostalgia so much, bring back a past Doom actor like Julian McMahon or Toby Kebbell. I think they both have what it takes to play Doom, they just got the wrong script.
I'm not big into reading the comics, but I figured with the idea that with the idea of the multi verse, my thought was that he is from a different timeline, and rather than being raised in America at some point in his family history the family ended up in Latveria.
What makes me feel better about this is that RDJ is an insanely strong actor. I've watch more than one movie where it took me half the film or more to realize RDJ was in it. He disappears into roles. Chaplin? Oppenheimer? Tropic Thunder? Iron Man? So I wonder if RDJ can manage to pull it off.
This casting isnt doing a character like Doom justice. He should be able to stand on his own and not a tony stark that went a darker path
agreed! but maybe it'll work! We'll see
I completely agree which is what bothers me on how people can’t see that as a problem
How do we know it's Tony Stark? I'm sure it's just Victor Von Doom played by RDJ, but it wouldn't matter because Doom's face is often covered by his mask.
Quick, Marvel! Walk it back. Give us:

Not really. He could wear prosthetics to the point where he's unrecognizable and just greatly acted, he could be a variant, he could be multiverse, doesn't have to touch Tony at all.
A friend said "RDJ is coming back as soon as he wins an Oscar" 😆
He was right.
3:22 superhero fatigue isn't real. If they changed things up people would love it. That's what invincible did

I want to see doom in action but he got to nail it on point
My favourite part is when Dr Doom starts rapping
This is such a crime against art! Doom is the best comicbook villain and Disney is using him as stunt casting, a cheap ploy to win back audiences. 😮💨😮💨😮💨
It’s a crime that Madd Mikkelsen was in talks with Disney to play Dr. Doom, only for them to go with Downey. They threw out what was most people’s dream casting
He was in Dr Strange 1 bro bruh😂
@@SOPHIA-LOVES-MEATBALLS-69 I get what you mean, but that's not the point. He may have already played a character in another Marvel movie, but so did RDJ. The argument that he couldn't play Doom because he's already appeared as another character doesn't make any sense.
We just need grounded and simple movies now.......that are fun to watch........
He died a hero and also lived long enough to see himself become a villain.
(Infinity War had the best plot twist in the whole MCU till this day cannot be unmatched )
People criticised Robert Pattinson as Batman and were blown away by his acting skills and interpretation of the complex character
Downey this year just won an Oscar showing us what his capable of outside of fictional movies(Oppenheimer) Robert has a range of acting skills which have never been explored, Dr Doom is that perfect chance for him to show us exactly what he can bring
Whichever way us fans may feel I’m confident that in 2026 we will truly be amazed when he appears on the big screen.

Are we running out of actors?
Yes
Actors? No.
Ideas? Yes.
Deadpool and wolverine proves "superhero fatigue" is not real, what is real is "bad superhero film fatigue", that we have had way too much
The exact same thing that’s happening to Star Wars.
Man do you guys even watch the video? He said this point about Deadpool and Wolverine already.
@@BananaWasTaken I think it's about risk. Movies, especially superhero movies have such bloated budgets they HAVE to make a profit or the studio is in trouble.
Exactly!
Majors had a contract that only he could play Kang.
I don't think it is superhero fatigue as much as craptastic story fatigue.
I'm afraid best thing about Dr. Doom becoming an oneliner in a future Deadpool movie
They could've gone with a young new actor, but they are playing it safe to not mess with the IP and it's going to result in another "could have been great" scenario.
what was working in the past? STORYTELLING, TIME, CARE, LOVE, GOING THE LOOONG WAY.
If they don’t show his face 90% of the time, then I don’t think it will be all that bad. I just wish some other actor could have gotten a chance.
My theory is that Downey is just a stand-in/variant, the real Doom will appear in Secret Wars (someone they probably haven't casted yet, maybe Cillian Murphy idk.)
PLEASE let this be right! 😩
Honestly if he keeps the mask on the whole time it might not even matter. They just don’t have to tie him into Tony stark
yes rdj as DR DOOM makes no sense but i think the bigger problem is the amount of plot holes they have created since end game theres so many post credit scenes that make absolutely no sense as to why , who or what.
Well idk at this point. It contradicts the ending of endgame meaning that the “canon” ending never mattered. But I also blame Disney on trying to force this “multiverse” saga on us wayyyyyy too much
I'm shocked that Multiverse of Madness came before an adaptation of Triumph and Torment.
This could've been the perfect introduction for DOOM.
they have spent about 200mil already just on Russo and RDJ contracts. to make a movie itself they will spend 200mil more.
they will spend another 100mil on marketing and "miscellaneous".
the total budget of the movie is going to be at least 500mil. it will need a 1 billion box office just to break even.
Truthfully, and this may or may not happen, but I really hope it backfires on Marvel. 🤷♂

RDJ Is The Face Of MCU
I think it's a cool idea, given that they've been hammering us with multiverse stuff for the last few years, but it is a hail mary pass for sure. I wish they would build on their successful new properties, like Shang Chi and Falcon.
I’ve been hearing alot of this. This is coming from someone who hasn’t seen more then half of the film since endgame but they haven’t even rolled cameras yet. Rdj is an amazing actor. Let’s see what they do
People complain when they bring something back but hate when it left, it’s part of life 😤
all the people that could’ve got that role instead of RDJ
David Alpay - FROM TV Series
Penn Badgley - Margin Call (Movie)
Jared Padalecki - Supernatural TV Series
Rupert Friend - Hitman Agent 47 (Movie)
Jamie Campbell - Stranger Things
RDJ had always been a deep drill character actor. He would do well to evolve within the MCU to achieve more challenging new roles leaving his great path for others to follow. I love it. I want a new Iron Man now. I want this role to be so good that we dont want RDJ to go near the arc reactor again.
I pray he’s not a stark variant a totally stand alone character
I’m still trying to recover after being SOOOO offended and disappointed at how DIRTY they did Kang🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
1:45 Don't forget She Hulk and The Inhumans
He could be a variant of Tony Stark that swapped bodies/lives with Doom.
"RD Jr. isn‘t the type of actor to embody Doom" Well, you say that, but you have seen his range as an actor, right? If directed well, I have a lot of faith that he would be able to portray a character like Doom very well, in fact, I suspect his portrayal of Doom just might have the potential of being so incredibly unlike Stark that it‘d be very easy to tell the two apart
In my restless dreams, i see that man... DOOM. Making a long awaited come back in this movie
I mean, it seems Disney can't find anyone good to fill shoes or else they wouldn't have recast so many already to come back and play other roles.
Can’t wait to see this evolve over the coming years.
Peter Parker gonna be devastated when he sees Doctor Doom in the future 😂😭😭
We shall see when the movie comes out
That whole case is completely ridiculous.
Im scared but I am going to cautiously trust the process. I trust the actor. I trust the character, I cautiously trust the studio. Some real Marvel stinkers recently but also the Deadpool movie gives me hope that it can still be done well.
And I am… The Infamous Iron Man.
How much of the overall budget did they spend on a marketing stunt and a lead actor?
I bet, that they spent so much that Doom would be walking in a mask 5 min tops.
I’ve never heard someone outright doubt RDJs ability to pull off a character. This is a dude that played a dude disguised as another dude. 😂
if they brought back anyone, it should've been Josh Brolin to play Dr. Doom. great actor and played a great villain already. he also gives off a more stern, aggressive vibe than RDJ which would suit Doom better. but i'm also gonna hold judgement until we see what happens. if RDJ can play an Australian guy who's pretending to be black, then he can probably play Doom too. and if he keeps the mask on plus a little voice changing, it won't even feel like Tony at all.
