      how is your equus doing now? I am curious because I am looking at a 2016 with 60k miles. Also how are you the driver treating the car? Are you driving it daily to work or is it a date night car? How are you handling servicing? whats the number one recurring issue you see as an owner?

    Most people see Hyundai as just car manufacturer, however the company is much more. They're huge in other areas such as heavy industry, finance and insurance, construction, engineering, retail, aerospace, defense, steel etc. Hyundai is the number 1 and biggest shipbuilder in the world. Also Hyundai made one of the best and most expensive battle tank XK2 which is in the Guinness book of world records. I'll admit their cars weren't all that in the past, but it came a long way, so give credit where it's due.

      @desertdetroiter so far, not a single one and I am heading into three years of ownership. Bought it at the end of my senior year in 2017 and now i'm in my third year of college in LSU. Only two cons is one...city gas mileage is horrible (I average 16 mpg city) and it's quite a large car to parallel park. But other than that it's beautiful, I have racked up so far 52k miles

      @@carsanmar13 I got a 2017 Nissan Rogue when my 2013 Ford Focus was totalled out by my insurance... I kept looking for a 2011 to 2013 Hyundai Equus, but couldn't find any close enough to me, so I got the Nissan... I'm only resenting it because I constantly saw someone who apparently works where I work, bought an Equus, & often parks right next to me...🤣

    Not a bad review until the end when he gives his rather tepid endorsement of the car by saying that if you want "better luxury, better build quality, better styling (yadda, yadda, yadda) you may want to look elsewhere." Look where? To a $360,000 Bentley or a $120,000 S-Class Mercedes? I think that unfortunately some people can't get past the snob appeal of the luxury badge of a high priced European car. And, yes, they are nice but nothing that Germany builds has the reliability of a well-built Hyundai. Mercedes-Benz is a notorious maintenance nightmare. And just how much "luxury" do you need? Was there anything missing in the luxurious interior of this Equus? I now own a Hyundai Genesis and it's a great vehicle. I'm done with European brands. They are over-priced, over-hyped, over-rated and too expensive to keep running.

      +JACK KANGAROO Well, a reviewer is supposed to offer his honest opinion. That said, the opinion could have been delivered in just a tad less snarky tone. Besides, CNET's Brian Cooley thinks you aren't gong to sit in a less impressive automobile cabin under $100,000. Finally, the rear door shades in the Ultimate are powered, not manually operated.

    I love how all these reviewers dis Hyundai and ooo and ahh over the German mfgs. The German cars are over priced and are constantly in need of repair. You buy a car to drive it, not worry about when it is going in for it's next over priced repair. These reviewers that rev the engines shouldn't be allowed in these dealer's cars. Thumbs down for the abuse of the engine and snarky attitude.

    This Equus and the Genesis actually come with FAR more features, standard, than any Mercedes, Lexus or Audi. Also, have you seen the Audi line? You have to be a midget to get in anything less than the largest A. Mercedes cars are designed for people under 5' 8" with a butt width under 19 inches. Its ridiculous. The Hyundai line still offers ADULT seating in a vehicle with great leg and headroom and an enormous number of features. Have you priced the "other brands"? Please! An E350 with nothing is 60k plus. the S class, which is the only car that can actually fit 4 adults is from 90k to 140 k. So don't even try to hold an Equus to the same level. Put this car next to any Audi and wave to them! Cause you have plenty of room, the best of rides and not stuck paying for the emblem. This Equus offers great substance, standard items, power and plush.

      You obviously haven't sat in a car larger than a Smartcar. Even a Nissan Sentra can fit people that are 6 ft tall easily, and you are saying that an A8 can't? This car doesn't even compare to any of its competitors. This car doesn't even have all wheel drive, and has an interior of every other car brand all mushed into one. No originality at all.

    Just stumbled across this video. Excepting for my 2016 Equus being a Signature edition, the color is the same. I've had mine for 4 years now and it's still a joy to drive. The only drawback is the inevitable failure of the air suspension. I wound up doing that service myself, and when I pulled out the old struts, I was surprised to find "Made in Germany" stamped on them.

    The Hyundai Equus appealed to those who desired a durable luxury vehicle with modest exterior styling, and reasonable maintenance costs. Although 429hp may not seem like a lot of horsepower, in terms of the total cost of this car when it was new, it was ample and acceptable to the targeted buyers. It is unique, indeed luxurious, as reliable as its rivaling luxury counterparts, has ample usable power (not everyone needs a sub 5 second car), parts are affordable, and it is built with durable quality in mind. Cadillac Escalades of 2016 cost more than these cars and are powered by a similarly powered push rod v8 and had the foundation of Yukon SUV. I like the concept of Equus.

    I remember when I first saw one of these at a Hyundai dealership back in 2016 the one I saw was loaded it had the rear reclining seats a refrigerator and much more it has a ton of features for a Hyundai product I was very impressed with the Equus really really impressed to say the least honestly the S Class and 7 Series both demand a great deal of attention Mercedes Benz and BMW knows exactly what it takes to make their large luxury sedans stand out I believe if Hyundai would have stretched out the Equus and made it a little wider like they did with the Genesis sedans the Equus would have sold better that's where the S Class and 7 Series shine when you see these vehicles you know that they are the flagship of their company this is where Equus falls short it's too tall as far as vehicle comparison according to size it's more in the category of the INFINITI
    M37/Q70 the presence of the 7 Series and S Class speaks volumes I would buy it before the lexus ls460 or ls 500 though

    Excellent review. I recommended this car to my boss a few weeks ago. He prefers full size cars with a V8. Those are getting harder to come by these days without spending a fortune. He has a Ford Crown Vic and feels it's time to move on and up. He finally test drove a used one yesterday and looks like he's gonna go for it. I new something of this car when it first came out but never looked any closer so I figured I would check a few reviews. Thanks for posting.

    I don't understand how you're disappointed with the image quality and compare it toa Corolla. What Corolla has a 360 view and cameras on every side of the car, not just the rear? In fact, what car under 60k except for the 2016 Maxima has that? This car has features, materials, interior noise levels and ride quality (Which is adjustable) well outside it's price range.
    A competitively priced car would be a 5 series BMW (no displays for back seats), A6 or E class without all the bells and whistles. Even a base S class will be well outside this price range while missing all kinds of features, and anything with similar power and features will be $100-150k. Yes, a Rolls Royce will also have a nicer interior, but that's nearly 10 times the price. You have to compare cars realistically. This craps all over any BMW, Audi or Merc under 70k.

    I would much prefer to be in this car on the road, then have a Mercedes, BMW or Audi in the shop, again. The shop, is the German cars second home. If the German cars are so good, why are they in need of constant repair? That’s the price of luxury quote doesn’t work for me. To me, reliability is King and a car shouldn’t turn into a money pit when it’s only 4 years old. This car will be far more reliable and last much longer then the Germans. See through the smoke and mirrors of image.

      Also for the competitors i.e. Audi,bmw, and Mercedes all three start at 80 to 90 grand with none of the standard features the size of this care is comparable to an s class also the seats recline and are very plush and comfortable

    • @garrettjohnson1812
      @garrettjohnson1812 9 лет назад

      You cant compare this car to a bmw or a mercedes because although its a large sedan its not on the same level as a mercedes or bmw i like the car ive sat in and driven the car as well as the mercedes and they are both very plush comfortable cars

    Sorry but somebody wealthy with money will "NOT" buy a Hyundai for $70K .. That's simply insane! just in a few years the Aquus will be sold dirt cheap "used" this vehicle will not hold it's value. C'mon its a "Hyundai" Yes it may look good, try to emulate German quality but Hyundai is not even close... The car is not even impressive.... NEXT!

    • @Tampa0123456789
      @Tampa0123456789 8 лет назад +1

      +chgofirefighter I agree. I like hyundais personally. They offer a lot for the money but at that price range people don't buy for quality the buy for status. If someone had to chose between a used name brand or a brand new Hyundai the hyundai will lose everytime.

    • @alexrazmjookhah6195
      @alexrazmjookhah6195 8 лет назад +2

      why the fuck do you care what brand it is are buying brand or car??? you don't make sense! it's very reliable more than mercedes with it stupid high cost maintainance.

    • @chgofirefighter
      @chgofirefighter 8 лет назад

      Alex Razmjookhah
      Moron, you know why because it's a "KOREAN" car that absolutely holds no value for the money that you invest in this POS you will eventually lose. Besides why pay $70,000 for a POS Korean car when you can purchase a Benz, Porsche, BMW and so many other TRUE HIGH quality made vehicles! Morons like you would pay such a price for a POS vehicle. So go ahead, make the purchase you fool!~ Many will laugh at you later.. Hyundai would be saying "We got another one, yay!"

    • @fazerkj2699
      @fazerkj2699 8 лет назад +2

      +chgofirefighter the comparable bmw 7 series or benz s class with similar options will cost you 120k so yeah i'll take te hyundai

    • @chgofirefighter
      @chgofirefighter 8 лет назад

      Yeah ok, and the Hyundai will be worth what after a few years of use? No thanks! For that stick with the real thing, not a Korean car maker which wants to bank on the "luxury" end of the spectrum. Plus, why spend that type of money on a "Hyundai?" for that buy a used/pre owned "REAL" luxury car.... Keep the Korean car, see how much it will be worth, they lose their value quite substantially. Not worth the investment
