    I bought this exact car almost 2 yrs ago for a SIGNIFICANT discount. After about a month after I got it I got hurt at work and workers comp had my claim on hold for 90 days. No income led to couldnt pay rent. Got a 3 day notice to pay rent or quit. The little money I had left to put my furniture in storage and I proceeded to live in my Equos for 4 more months. The reclining rear seat has got to be (and I'm not joking) in the Top 5 places I've ever slept in my life. Normaly I have trouble sleeping but in the back seat I had such a deep sleep

      that's not what a relationship is all about. It would be absurd if she got upset because of it, it's a fucking car ffs. It's not about the material present, it's about the gesture. Oddly, my father started buying Hyundais new every two years back in the late nineties. He'd only put a few thousand miles on it and trade for another. His last one was a 2006 Azera Limited Ultra. He couldn't wait to show off all the neat little gizmos to me. In August 2008 he called me up and asked if I wanted to have it, no strings. He had bought a Toyota truck. I flew from Kansas and picked it up in NC. It was the last time I saw my dad alive. He died the next month. I still have the Azera. It's my daily driver. It only has 78K miles. Totally reliable car that changed my mind about Hyundai quality. I'll probably drive it until it fails. I purchased a 2014 Tucson for my wife. She loves it for driving around Wichita. I have loved the Genesis/Equus line since their debut. They really need an SUV.

    The guy I use for shuttling me to the airport drives an Equus. Sadly his isn't the "Ultimate package" although it does have the reclining passenger side seat. It's a nice car and he says he has put about 150k on it and the service is a lot cheaper than the Maybach they used to have in the fleet (so much cheaper, they dumped the Maybach). It isn't as nice as the S class, which just has better leather and overall feel, but if I was running a towncar service, I would buy this over the Mercedes.

    Jesus...That’s is a killer price for a car of that level. With that much power and luxury... one of the used market gems for sure.
    Now if it’s reliable then it’s a perfect family car or luxury sedans better then buying a hell of a lot of brand new cars.

Yes it might be more reliable than an S class or a 7 series or A8 for that matter. However the car itself the fun part the design and the esteem that comes with it is a whole different level with similar Premium german cars ;)

    • @Shintsu2
      @Shintsu2 5 лет назад +1

      Well, you could take a look at the interior on the Equus...I wouldn't even call it equal to Lexus or anything. It's not terrible, but it's just off compared to that. Not on features, on design aesthetics. Same with the exterior, all the top tier Korean luxury cars always look really generic. The designs on the German top luxury models are far more distinctive. I'm not going to say they're more reliable, they really aren't. But these cars are made for rich people who almost always lease and then after 30-40k miles they turn it in for the latest version. The second owner takes it usually to about 80-90k. Any subsequent owners are in for the high maintenance period.
      I don't agree with this practice, but there is a price to pay for absurd gadgets. A working top tier German luxury car is hard to rival if you're going to be honest with yourself. The Equus might last longer with lower repair costs, but it's also far less impressive looking and more bland. For $70k, not hard to see why most would have passed this up. Personally I'd much rather an LS460 over the Equus, it still lacks some personality of the Germans but it has more substance than the Equus. But you'll be paying almost twice as much thanks to that Lexus reputation and reliability. Probably the best compromise between luxury, gadgets, and long term reliability.

    This depreciated from $70k to $15k. A similarly equipped S class or 7 series would have gone from around $150k to $30k, and a Maybach would have lost several Equus in value over that same period, so I don't see any problems here. @Jim S. But depreciation has a lot to do about what people think about the car not always what it's really worth, as he even mentioned the car is perfectly fine and reliable, it's just such a low price because people don't think a Kia/Hyundai (Since they're both the same company now) is worth that much money as they are used to the cheap runners, imo they're great cars, better than Mercedes, and I 'm not saying Merc is bad, I'm their biggest fanboi, but in terms of reliability and price to fix things it's so much better, my dad had to pay 3,000 Euros to fix the wing mirror on his Mercedes, moneypits.
