    It seems to me that most of the folks writing negative reviews about the Equus have not had the chance to park it in their garage for a week or more. When you use this car as your daily driver you will be convinced that this is a VERY impressive car for the money. I have a 2015 Equus Ultimate and am MUCH more impressed than I ever thought I would be. I actually bought it b/c my wife was complaining about how I always needs to drive a Porsche/Audi or Benz. She said why can't you just go buy a normal car like a Hyundai SO i did expecting it to be a nice low end car. I like it more than the E class AND s class benz I owned. All you haters go drive it and you will see.

      Ehh its a nice car but Its like having the knock off Iphone instead of the real one, ur knock offs battery will destabilize much sooner electrical components wont hold up and youll get bad reception cuz your gsm isnt legitimate. Same thing with Hyundai cars, there meant to fool you with the flash, and then leave you high a dry needing to get a new car way before you had, fiscally planned.

      Andrew Walker Because Audi, BMW and Mercedes are reliability champions right? I got news for you buddy. I know two guys who owned, key word OWNED, as in past tense, a BMW and they laid it on me the stories on how they were reliability nightmares loaded with electrical problems. Another person I know had the same issue with the Mercedes M-Class. And guess what? He traded it in for a Kia Sorento. Another guy I know had an Audi Allroad, only 3 years old and with all his windows closed it wasn't the first time he found an inch of water in his footwells. The German cars aren't the tanks they were once before. And when you do things like remove the oil dipstick from an engine block it simply shows how proud you as an auto manufacturer are proud to have your customers pay those insane repair bills only to you. THAT is where this car shines. For people that pay the extra money for a quality vehicle and NOT a badge even if the badge comes with an array of electrical problems. But I can tell you one thing for sure. I had a 1996 Hyundai Accent (the era of when Hyundai was crap) and it was the best car I ever had. I bought it from my uncle who never took care of it and yet one engine flush later after getting it and 112K miles later and it ran like brand new with no problems. So for that, I'd trust a luxury car from Hyundai.

    I test drove a 2016 Equus Signature today and truly enjoyed the drive. The interior is beautifully appointed and the seats are very comfortable. Although the exterior front fascia looks a little too busy, I like the overall appearance of the Equus. It combines a typically sedate look with sporty rear end cues and the cool jet fan blade wheel styling.

    I think Hyundai make suitable luxury car, of course not luxurious as other German or Italian cars. One big thing Hyundai missing is a story. The story makes car special. Mercedes, BMW, Maserati, Rolls Royce, these famous cars have great names because they have some story and that makes rich people to buy the cars and that makes spread words to people. That's all about. The story is a name and name is brand.

    • @technobrend0
      @technobrend0 9 лет назад +1

      +Dooyong Park Give it time though. Sure the equus in brand new. In fact I would say that the modern day Hyundai is still kinda a new company. See I think everyone would agree that what they make todays compared to 10-15 years ago is a day and night difference. If you were around to remember what the cars were like in the 80's up until the late 90s you would know that they were cheap. Cheap to buy, cheap to mantain and just cheap overall. Good luck finding one today that isn't a pile of parts in a junkyard. Look up the similar Japanese model and find it selling for some absurd amount on Craigslist. People think Hondas are worth their weight in gold and charge accordingly. Not that I'm hating on the brand, I love Hondas (And Acuras).
      Hyundai had to do a few things to get the respect they so desperately want (and now finally deserve IMHO). First was engineering a quality product. I think this happened around the time they started (an industry first) 10 year warranty. This is and amazing thing if they can pull it off. First off it tells the buying product that the company has faith in its product. Second it provides a safety net for new buyers and even CPO and later, used buyers. I know that if I were looking at cars from around the late 2000s to have a lineup of vehicles that still have warranties from that period is a VERY strong selling point in my book.
      Hyundai had/has to prove that they are just as good as their Japanese counterparts, a feat easier said then done. The Japanese brands have basically held the title of "Most reliable" since the 80's. Everyone knows it. Just look at used Civic or Accord prices to the American counterparts. So its safe to say that this is a monumental task for Hyundai to step up and show the world.
      I think they are moving in the right direction. Didn't they get the head designer from Audi to work for them. I just searched it, Peter Schreyer is his name. He is the head designer for Hyundai/Kia. Look at what he has done recently. Check out the Kia Optima. That car is BEAUTIFUL. Take off the badge and most people would probably think its a German car. I think the interior has a lot fo design cues from Audi. I always appreciated the interior design of Audi. While the exterior on some I think were bland (BMW is sportier), of the big-3 German makes, Audi always had the best interior. This of course is just my opinion.
      So getting back to where we started, the story. Sure I dont think Hyundai will ever have the story, the history, the "panache" of a Rolls or Bentley. History is history and people who appreciate that kind of thing will never consider otherwise. Until Hyundai starts hand making the leather in the cars and rolls the fenders on with an english wheel, the people who appreciate that kind of stuff will never look elsewhere. Hyundai (and even Merc and BMW...ect) are too "cookie cutter", too mass produced..... and there is nothing wrong with that.
      Will Hyundai ever approach that, I doubt it. Where they need to focus on is BMW and Mercedes. Right now its clear that with the Equus they have Lexus and Acura and Infiniti in their sights. Go for those brands first. If they succeed at taking away sales from the Japanese big-3, I think they will have pulled off what they want, to be a top tier, mass market luxury manufacturer. Sure they can try and go for BMW and Mercedes next, but remember, even with the high end Mercedes, they wont be able to compete on price. Its not that they wont be able to produce a less expensive product, they will. They will always compete on price and that works in the "mass produced" markets. However when you get into the upper echelon of cars, Mercedes has a few 6 firgure models, the people who buy those cars will not care about price that much. "So what if the Huyndai model xxx is half that of a S600 AMG, the Mercedes is a Mercedes and I, Mr wealthy bond trader can afford 10 of them if I want...." This I don't think Hyundai will be able to overcome for some time. Most people today that can afford the 6-figure Mercedes still remember the Hyundai of the 80's and 90's. So convincing those people is out. Now children growing up today, see that Hyundai is making qaulity cars. Keep up this momentum Hyundai, when these kids grow up and start making a decent living, THAT is when they have a chance to compete with Germans.
      Just IMHO of course...

    Also, this car is good for it's price even if the exterior looks like a 35k$ car. Hyundai are making good progress. But it's no way near a BMW 7 series or a Mercedes S-Class, from the design, the performance, the technology and the quality of the product. But for the price it looks pretty decent, my only concern is the quality of the materials. I can't talk from the video and I havent seen one in person, so until then I cant say if it is really the deal.

    Great value for money and tons of features, almost steal for the money. Bigger cabin space than & 7 series. Not as good as S class but it does a fantastic job for the money. People who think driving +60K 2nd hand luxury car to be recognized, should also consider maintenance cost of the German luxury cars. Howeverm if one really needs badge then just buy 2nd hand german luxuries. It is the person make ths luxury who gets out of the car not the badge, if one really really needs the 2nd hand badge, he/she wouldn't likely to make that income to afford the new car anyway.

It's got a digital instrument cluster, heads up display, soft close doors, a better infotainment system, more modern interior, it also has better tail lights and wheels and tail lights, and two Tvs instead of one. I don't know why they got rid of that stuff though. I live in Korea and they still have all of they stuff plus all the new things too in the KDM version. I don't understand. What's the point of selling this car for such a cheap price in the U.S.?? It's like almost as good as the new Benz S-class. Hyundai Equus and the Kia Quoris is a fond by Korean riches.

    • @MrClint1957
      @MrClint1957 10 лет назад +3

      The lower price of the Hyundai (or Kia) is largely based on the $ being worth more than the Korean Won. The exchange rate between the Korean Won to the US Dollar is much more favorable than that of the Deutsche Mark (or Euro) to the dollar. While both Korean brands have heavily invested in quality improvements, many folks have long memories and recall when Hyundai stood for: "Hope you understand nothing's driveable and inexpensive". I am not yet 60 and owned my first car in 1974 and "back then" most folks looked at Toyota & Datsun (now, Nissan) with contempt--concerning quality. Detroit is begging Americans to "buy American" even as many of us recall the garbage that was largely put forth as US autos in the 70's/80's/and 90's.

    • @MrClint1957
      @MrClint1957 10 лет назад

      "What we have here, is a failure to communicate" [Cool Hand Luke] My use of the noun, "poor"; was not a provocation concerning your financial viability (why that would agitate you, I'm not sure) how much you earn is nobody's business but yours and your spouse. The definition is was implying was : "not good in quality or condition". Good luck finding a new Equus for 60K. While our {my wife & I} decision is not final, I am looking more & more at the A6 TDI. But finding the color combo I want is proving difficult; one further cudo to Hyundai. Color combo and trim package choices {that I want} are readily available. As I am a disabled and retired US Navy officer, I've nothing but time to find exactly what I (we) want. PS./BTW I always carry full coverage {liability, etc...} on our vehicles; which are paid for in cash.

    Garbage vehicle. So unreliable it's not even funny. On the Equus forums & FB pages, you find owners regretting ever purchasing this lemon when their air suspensions fail with vehicles that barely have 75k miles on them, and their repair bill averages $1500.00 PER WHEEL for ORIGINAL Hyundai air suspension parts (not talking about the cheap Chinese ones that break down even faster but that most people buy because they can't afford the original parts). Then you have the issue of the Pre-Collision and other safety systems not working. Again, on Equus forums & FB pages you have owners complaining how their Equus didn't warn them of an impending crash, didn't take evasive maneuvers as Hyundai says it will, and even air bags that didn't deploy. Aside from those serious issues that could kill you..you have seats that hurt your back after 10 minutes of sitting. Cheap and fake looking leather, wood applique, and plastic controls. And a ride that felt nervous and jittery..instead of smooth and luxurious as advertised. Save your money and buy something that is really luxurious and not this POS. It's no wonder Hyundai killed it. Korean junk at it's finest. Too bad some people have no idea what real luxury is so they think this POS is "quality"..lol. A sucker really is born every minute. 🙄

      When you know absolutely nothing about something then don’t criticize it. Maybe you should learn about it first before you make any assumptions.
      Or maybe you should just go out by a bike and ride it for fun and see it it rides better than the equus ..

    I work at a Hyundai dealership. Ive obviously driven the Equus.... My take? Nothing more than an overloaded Genesis sedan. They both have the 5.0 engine, chassis, and similar luxury functions for the passengers. The rear IS missing in its center console the audio functions however. The Equus is nice, but I personally wouldn't pay 70 for it. Id say maybe 50-55 for one of them

    So as I stated. I have been insulted and cursed by 18 people. But not one of them has proven me wrong. I am INTITLED to speak much my mind. And it is guaranteed by the constitution. As long as my statments are truthful. I will restate to all. I will remove all my post from all websites and apologize to Hyundai in person an on all web sites the day that any one can prove me wrong. Unlike some of these want to be car guys. I have worked on and driven the competition. I have driven all types of cars. From the 30's to present. From hot rods MERCEDES. LEXUS. Corvette. BMW. TO A YUGO.
    I was there in the 90s and saw the crap Hyundai built. I actually bought INTO all the Hyundai hype. And we bought 2 Hyundais. And both of them have more issue than the average car. And both of them have the lowest resale value in there class. I sold my wife's 12 year old CIVIC with 159k for $ 4,000.00. Our 09 ELANTRA with 70k and a extended bumper to bumper warranty is only worth $4,000.00 . THE Same with my 2012Elantra. Which. Also. Has the lowest resale value in Its class. My car has been in the shop twice and Hyundai can't fix. It.
    almost lost the front end and Could have killed me. Hyundai knows about theses issues with the Elantra but has not told anyone.
    I stand behind my review's. Hyundai sucks. So I challenge all you wanna be car guys prove me wrong. Or keep your slandering REMARKS to yourself. Just remember if you have to insult someone it's because you have nothing. And you loose credibility when you lie. Hyundai had refused to comply.

      My little Elantra can put you to a deep shame. My 2001 Hyundai with 183K and it's still adding happy miles like new. I am absolutely honest with you on this. When it comes to Hyundai I never have to question the quality. Sure, my car isn't perfect but it does what it was made to do and it does it rather very well. Hyundai owners are smart car buyers.

      @rickpettry 10 лет назад

      Your a funny little man with potty mouth. If you could read I am 53. Years old was ASE.certified.That mean I held a automotive certification. For 16 years. I worked on all cars from a YUGO to MERCEDES. Rolls Royce. Stock cars. I have also Driven all the competition. Mazda 3. Dodge Dart. Camry.Ford focus. I found thr Focus to be thr most uncomfortable car. But a step above Hyundai. Funny peple admit the Mazda 3. The CIVIC Etc. Are better cars and have a higher resale VALUE. So what I have been trying to teach you is with all that plus thr Lawsuits. And other reviews. Why should anyone buy a Hyundai. Simple as that. Did you read all the articles I sent you. Of course not. It just proves my point. You pretend to HAVE knowledge of cars but you just read what you want to hear. You most definitely must work for Hyundai. So you say you have 180,000 miles on a 2001 Hyundai. How much time was it in the shop. Dose it hsve the original motor and tranny. I bet you have have had the tranny rebuilt and have had the Head replace. ..anyways hugs and kisses. Grass hopper.
