Hi glad you enjoyed. Never expect Voiceplay to be sensible for too long they are the loveliest dorks around! The part of the song you didn't recognise was written by Geoff, he's added bridges to quite a few songs including some on his own channel. I always think their songs should be called remixes rather than covers because they make them so much their own.
If you want vikings, the order is ,first My Mother Told Me and after that Valhalla Calling. If you want post-apocalyptic the trilogy us Warriors(Imagine Dragons), Dream on( Aerosmith) and finally 7 Nation Army ( White Stripes) More game music Enemy( Imagine Dragon). Next outcoming VoicePlay is also gaming music. But you have the Disney world to discover too. Little Mermaid Medley is a must as well as We Don't Talk About Bruno.
I was so excited for you to watch this one! They call it their special brand of dumb. I call it the perfect way to cover that song! Looking forward to watching some more Voiceplay. Buckle up and enjoy the ride
So glad you reacted to this one, the BTS for Patrons are hilarious. If you want a change to something serious I recommend checking out their cover of Creep.
"One VoicePlay video a day" would have convinced me to subscribe if I hadn't already 😂 My favourite arrangement of theirs is Nothing Else Matters but if you want to go by theme I'd recommend the kidnapped trilogy starting with Billie Eilish's Trapped mash up (followed by Panic at the disco in five minutes part 1 and 2) they are a bit older in comparison with an original founding band member who left a few years ago.
I've been watching these guys for a little over two years now and no matter what I expect, they always manage to surprise me. The creativity is top tier, for real. As for what's next, yes! Vikings! "My Mother Told Me" and then "Valhalla Calling." Valhalla is freaking epic. It was my most listened to song on RUclips music last year, lol. I can't wait to see your reactions! ❤
That part you didn't recognize was written and added by Geoff. He does that sometimes. He also did it in "Golden Hour" and a few others. Your reaction was awesome! The next time you watch it, check out what Eli is doing while Layne is playing with the boat, and after he has it "eaten" by the whale. It's so funny!
Might be good to check their version of "Wellerman" too. I kind of see that as somewhat explaining Eli here. They actually did "Wellerman" relatively straight and not terribly long before this one. "Drunken Sailor" they turned into an absolute bop!
That section you didn’t recognize? That’s because Geoff wrote it. Often when arranging a repetitive song, Geoff adds a bridge to add interest. But he’s so good at it that people seldom realize it’s new. Sounds like it had always been there.
As I have mentioned before, so many of us Voiceplay fans really enjoy going through the Tubes and watching others experience the joy and laughter that VP can bring us with their talents and sense of humor. Wonderful pastime and it always depends on who it is we watch. Some are better than others. I'm fairly new to your channel (about 1.5 weeks now), and simply just get a better vibe here than in some others. Music is a wonderful tool that brings people together. It contributes to our mental health, can extend our lives by the energy it provides, and can be a dopamine trigger for some who connect with it on a more personal level. Back in earlier periods of time, it contributed to tribal welfare and celebration, bringing those together closer. These days, even from all over the world, it brings so many people from different belief systems, cultures, even practices together in a positive manner typically. I'm here for it and have really been enjoying the atmosphere in your channel. Hope to see you react to more VP, and others as people suggest more music! I'm about as eclectic as people can be, listening to every genre and even go into other languages, so I doubt you'll disappoint. Cheers and have a wonderful day! I like to make musical examples out of things too, so I would venture as far as to call my experience here a tonic triad. Meaning, there are three fundamental notes that play harmoniously; myself, You and those in the channel. It's a constant and is based on three notes but it all fits together perfectly. If I were to do the notes myself, I would have to do them one at a time and would be more like an arpeggio, but all together it makes a beautiful harmony. That's what I meant by the atmosphere and the way music brings us all together.
Wow, thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful comment! This genuinely made my day haha! We're all about discovering new music (and other content!) from all over the world so I'm certain you'll enjoy your stay in the Velo Fam 🥳 Absolutely agree with your take on music - it really is the universal language that connects us. And I love the arpeggio metaphor too 😭 Thank you again for the kind words and for watching! Genuinely so grateful to have you aboard for the adventure. Here's to the future! 🥳
Loving your enthusiastic response to Voiceplay! Not sure if you'd want to save this for next October, but they've also done several Nightmare Before Christmas songs (Oogie Boogie's song, This is Halloween, What's This?, Kidnap the Sandy Claws, and, on Geoff's solo channel, an AMAZING version of Jack's Lament). They really excel at Halloween songs (okay, they really excel at just about everything!).
This is so much fun. Of course you recognize Jose Rosario Jr from Hoist the Colours. They did a short - Wellerman another shanty. Buckey, our drunken sailor was a member of VoicePlay for a short time long ago. He had damaged his voice so singing wasn't on his agenda. He went to work for Disney as a voice actor. He has been in VP's mini - the Wellerman, and in Geoff's Monster Mash he is responsible for Geoff's choreography. A delight watching you enjoy these. Consider In the Hall of the Mountain King, Tennessee Whiskey, We're Good, Valhalla Calling. Their low-level Patreon is not expensive which should you get in the back door.
These reactions are so much fun! I dig it when other people are as entertained by VoicePlay as I am! They are a lovable bunch of goofs, they're adorable in the best possible way but literally everything they do is epic. My personal favorite is 7 Nation Army, but I love their medleys too. All the Halloween stuff is fun. Hall of the Mountain King is totally goofy and fun. Truth is you'll never get bored with VoicePlay there's nothing they can't do. They did a Jingle Bells to the tune of Mission Impossible that still breaks my brain LOL
This one is so fun. Geoff wrote the section you didn’t recognize. I thought to myself the beginning is what you think you sound like when you’re drunk and the end is what you really sound like 😂
I don't know - I think many of us wouldn't sound anywhere near as good drunk singing as their last bit! I get what you mean, but they still sound better!
Voiceplay's collective sense of humour is bought out in covers like this... along with Geoff's added lyrics make them even more so... As others have mentioned, Creep is one to listen to if you want to hear something serious. .. but whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll love it. 😊 🇬🇧
Another great reaction, thank you. Your excitement always makes me happy. Maybe it's time to dip into the past: one of their early and frequent collaborators is Rachel Potter, and her collab with them on Attention in the summer of 2017 is excellent. It's one of the few when they have an additional instrument - Boomwhackers - which they give enough camera play that there's no confusion about what is Layne, and what is an instrument. You'll see a slightly different line-up: always Geoff, Layne and Eli - but it was before Cesar, and while Earl was still a member. (The group originally started the summer they graduated from high school, which was 1997 or 98 - they called themselves Four2Five. In 2010 or 2012 Eli joined at about the same time as they changed their name to VoicePlay.)
You could always consider heading into the VoicePlay Cinematic Universe at some point- that's what I jokingly call three videos of their's that, when watched in order, tell a story. First up is Trapped: Billie Eilish in 5 Minutes, and then you'll want to follow it with Panic! in 4 Minutes, Parts 1 and 2. The two Panic! at the Disco medleys were actually filmed first, while Trapped (filmed over a year later) was conceived as a prologue to the other two. The level of detail that went into linking those videos, if you pay attention, is really amazing. Some folks like to add Queen in 5 Minutes as a conclusion, but that video's concept came a health scare suffered by one of the members while on tour.
One of the things I love about this video is that Jose actually is playing the part of the ship's captain--he's not just singing and goofing off, he's trying to motivate his unruly crewmen, keep them in line and when necessary, protect them from each other, even if that means diverting them from a murderous course with a stupid dance number! The poor guy's really got his work cut out for him with this lot 🤣
There's so much to enjoy with #VoicePlay! They even fool us sometimes and do almost more typical acapella arrangements; Tennessee Whiskey and I Can't Make You Love Me are good examples. How about checking out something like Warriors which is the first of a trilogy or perhaps a change and do their Wicked medly.
They'll always give tribute to the original songs while changing it to make it their own. They've even said if they can't improve the song then they won't do it. So no cookie cutter style here. It's one thing I love about them. I am going to recommend Golden Hour and Season of Love - ruclips.net/video/u7SglbQSPAg/видео.htmlsi=jItl1mRt8NdJMWp1 (this is an older song but I think still a classic) Enjoying your reactions. 😊
I think they said if they can’t add something new to a song they wouldn’t do it. To claim that everything they do is an improvement from all other versions would be a bit bold😊. Even if I personally almost always think that their version is an improvement😁❤.
Any time you want to check out Voiceplay, I’m here for it. Great reaction!! Speaking of Vikings, please please PLEASE react to The Bass Gang’s If I had a Heart. They deserve the attention!
Someday I'm going to be able to up my patron tier for them so that I see my name on that screen. They did a version of I Can't Make You Love Me that is stunning.
Another great reaction. Next stops Vikings with “my mother told me” and then “Valhalla Calling”. FYI I suspect that they are dropping their new one next week, and it is right up your alley. See you next time.
I didn’t come up with this, but I saw a comment saying Voiceplay doesn’t do covers, they do upgrades. I believe there is no greater example of that than my favorite Voiceplay song “In the Hall of the Mountain King.” The costumes are incredible and it is a master class in arrangement.
I vote for the Apocalypse Series first. Discover the origins of one of Layne's nicknames and see some really amazing covers in the process. Warriors --> Dream On --> Seven Nation Army But really, you can't go wrong with any VoicePlay song. As a suggestion for songs not part of a series (as far as I am aware), I'll also suggest In the Air Tonight, Golden Hour (the woman in the video is Kathy, VP's Production manager & Geoff's wife), or Lion Sleeps Tonight for more of the VoicePlay "brand of dumb" that Drunken Sailor has in spades.
Hello there! In this video, Shabir from Velo City (Guitarist, Rapper and Doctor) reacts to VoicePlay's awesome cover of Drunken Sailor for the first time!

Yaay for more Voiceplay!! This was so much fun. 🌹🕊

I agree, creep is soul searching and so emotional. 😢 but they crushed it.. gets me every time.

They are the most talented group out there and just really nice people! They couldn't have had more fun than this doing this song.

You definitely need to do vahalla calling and hellfire... they are insane

Grazie reaction to a fun song!
the bit you didn’t recognise is because they added it themselves! ❤
Please please react to seven nation army by voiceplay its absolutely amazing
