Geoff's range is incredible. I'm pretty sure there are only 2 things Geoff can't do....
    1- admit he's a bass (he claims he's a baritone with a bass range)
2- fold a hoodie (see his cover of Blue Christmas).
Subbed for more Geoff and Voiceplay!

@@dianeschluter9995 just as much as I love Geoff for trusting Layne's judgement and giving Layne what he wants when he's doing the arrangement :) I don't think it gets mentioned anywhere near often enough, just how amazing Geoff and Layne's friendship is. They've been best friends since they were about 12 yrs old, and have been working, traveling, and performing together for 30 years, their friendship is more like really close brothers who know & understand how the other thinks, what their abilities are, and what the other is capable of with a little nudging from time to time :)

I never heard the song before, but as usual, it doesn't matter. Geoff could sing the phone book (if they still made one) and I would be enchanted. What is amazing is that it was just Geoff and his wife in a rented space. Four fixed cameras and the piano that they brought from home.
He has only done a few covers without showing additional Geoffs. If you want more piano Geoff, try his version of an old American folksong, Shenandoah.

@@dianeschluter9995 Would YOU want to be singing next to Geoff and The Geoffettes? I mean, unless you're Josh Groban or Michael Crawford or someone!
Nah, joking, I kid! I'm sure Geoff would be a total prince and work excellently with any guests. I'd love to see him work on a full song with Peter Hollens, given the latter's work with Tim Foust. I know Geoff cameoed on Peter's Christmas Movie Medley. That was great! But I'm greedy and want more! I'd love to see them do one of Peter's parodies! They're the best, right up there with The Hillywood Show, though their's are of course a very different sort of parody. Hillywood's are truly epic musical (mostly) parodies of shows and movies. Well worth watching and even reacting to. LOTR, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Twilight (the earlier ones of Twilight were a bit rough, but still good), Walking Dead, S****** Squad, Supernatural, POTC, Good Omens, and more! Oh, and Sean Astin, Samwise Gamgee himself, tweeted how much he liked the LOTR one! And they are all fan funded, and two young sisters run the channel.
Whoa, sorry this got so long! Just sharing the love and great artists so others can enjoy them!

If you haven't already please do a reaction video to Geoff's solo cover of Sounds of silence, he really knows how to reach deep down into your soul with this one. Also Geoff's solo cover of Shenandoah. So smooth & absolutely beautiful. Thank you for your awesome reaction to Geoff . I always love your reactions.

This whole song is like ASMR to me, lol. It's so moving and haunting in the best way. I just love it! ❤
He did a cover of "Jack's Lament" from The Nightmare Before Christmas this past Halloween. He goes from like E1 to C5 or C#5 in that one and it is a masterpiece! I know it's not Halloween or Christmas anymore, but it's always a good time for a Nightmare Before Christmas musical number. 😂

This song was haunting when Chris Isaak did it, but Geoff's version is even more so. And the 'dragon' purr in his lows just send chills up my spine. His facial expressions are perfect for it and I really love the muted color palette of the video. It kind of seems like the fog has rolled in.

Hi, Shabir! Love seeing more Geoff here, and great reaction as always. If you like this one with just him and his piano, possibly my favorite cover of his is High and Dry by Radio Head, and it's done in a similar style (though I think he's playing keyboard on that one technically). If you liked seeing his upper range come into play on this one, I think you'll like it. 😉

That's all Geoff. This is so somber, he sounds so taken and doesn't want to be in this wicked game. Favorite Geoff's solos - Monster Mash was my first music on RUclips, Sounds Silence, 16 Tons, House of the Rising Sun, Ain't No Sunshine, Way Down. These will get you started.

Geoff and Layne, beatboxer/baritone of VoicePlay, have been singing together since middle school. Layne's arrangement of Oogie Boogie's Song required Geoff's entire range at the time, highest to lowest. He's since gone lower while retaining that smooth, resonant sound. Want to hear him do amazing slides up or down, like the one in Hoist the Colors? Try Enemy, Little Mermaid Medley (Geoff as Ursula is not to be missed!) or their mini, Peaches.
There are also audience recordings of VP doing Elvira, their finale when they were touring, which has great humor and an amazing finish. This one is my favorite: ruclips.net/video/sYlzZUwpd-0/видео.html
With Geoff's permission, Tim Foust, bass of Home Free, tweaked Geoff's arrangement, and Home Free still performs Elvira at every concert. HF even got to record a video of it with the Oak Ridge Boys.
For more Geoff on piano, try Blackbird, High and Dry, Till Then, Jack's Lament, Sound of Silence, and Shenendoah. The latter shows some of his acting skills as well, as the piano in the video was a half-step out of tune and clashed horribly with the playback of the finished audio track. I think that's what led Geoff to buying the piano seen here, so they could bring it to wherever they filmed rather than relying on a borrowed instrument.
For the full experience, Geoff and VP are best enjoyed with headphones and captions on. Geoff's wife Kathy is his/their production manager and has significant hearing loss. (He made a video about it.) Geoff often puts fun text in the captions.

Hey Shibir loving watching as you go down the rabbit hole. We did warn you that Geoff does have a five octave range. To be fair we joke in the Geoff/Voiceplay fandom about it. Sometimes we joke that Geoff’s vocal range is yes; sometimes “what key do you want to sing this song in?” Geoff answers “yes”, and then Geoff says “I bought the whole piano I’m going to use it.” To blow your mind even further from what I understand this song is all chest voice and chest/head mix, no subharmonics and no full falsetto. See you for the next one.

Hi Shabir, loving the Voiceplay and Geoff reactions, it never gets tiresome watching your reaction to their amazing voices, if you want to here more of Geoffs vocal range I suggest you check hi cover of Paul McCartney 's song "Blackbird" or Simon and Garfunkels "The Sound of Silence" also a definite must see is Voiceplays "Valhalla Calling". If you fancy a change I might suggest checking out a n up and coming acapella group called "The Bass Gang" they are four bass singers from around the globe who met up online and formed a group and they all have large vocal ranges. They are Tomi P. (Czeck Republic), Bobby Bass (USA), Marian Ayman (Egyptian), and Peter Barber (USA), All of their songs a recorded virtually and then the songs are put together (usually by Marwan). Peter Barber is also a trained opera singer and you tube reactor who does reactions to songs and also analysis of the vocal techniques used. They have recorded several songs, their most recent being a cover of "If I had a heart" from the TV show "Vikings" this is a truly epic version of this song. Other songs they have done are "Mad World", "Jolly Sailor Bold" (a very dark and sinister version) of this sea shanty. "Hooked on a Feeling" (whith Tim Foust from Home Free) and a cover of "Hide and Seek" with Lauren Paly, Voicplay also released the same song in the same week last year also with Lauren Paly, but it has an entirely different feel from the Bass Gang version and makes for an interesting comparison. Anyway I have taken up too much of your time. Keep the reactions coming, am looking forward to more. 👍👍😃

Geoff is a master arranger; especially when it comes to being able to harmonize with himself (which I understand isn't always easy.)
You'll see his full range in some other pieces. He is a bit more restrained on when he uses it than you would expect; waiting until it fits the song rather than showboating. Recently his cover of Jack's Lament is the most exceptional and illustrative video where you can see some of it. VoicePlay is where you'll more likely see the stupid full sustained lows in some of Layne's arrangements .
