I heard it described really well. The OG was the warning, Disturbed's version was the anger, and Geoff's version is the sadness and reflection afterwards. Every time I listen to this cover, I cry. It touches my soul, and I feel like a am seeing the light at the end of a long, dark tunnel. Absolutely amazing cover.
Awesome reaction Tylr. It's all Geoff singing. He clones himself for harmonies. And he gives each their own personalities. And names. In his video coming out next week there's 5 of him and you'll get to see them all. Two of my favorites by him are Rains of Castemere and Ghost Riders In The Sky.
So... The super-duper low rumbling bass is an instrument 🙂, he uses instruments and plugins in his solo works to create the music and subtle background effects. 🙂 ALL voices are Geoff' layering his own voice in different registers. 🙂 He always harmonises with himself, and usually he "clones" himself in 4 or 5 characters, often with different outfits and makeups. Check, for example, "Ghost riders in the sky" or "Far over the Misty Mountain cold" to see what I mean 😉. This, as far as I remember, is the first time he doesn't bring out his "clones" (they even have NAMES! Goff, Jeff, Jeoph and Daryl 😁) in a video in which he harmonises with himself 🙂. The only other video I can think of in which there's just Geoff is "High and dry", but there are ho harmonies there. Very good video though. 🙂 The man is beyond talented. 🤩 See you next time!
His growth as an arranger and with his instrumentation is just a wonder this last two years. He is from West Virginia so he does get twangy when he chooses. Especially in the tenor range.
Actually, he was born in Virginia then moved to Florida as a child. He does however have a slight southern accent. Sometimes it is more distinct than other times.
The really low bit before he starts singing is part of the instrumentation. Not him singing. More an effect of sorts. He uses plug ins to create the music, through a keyboard and a computer.
Thanks for asking. It's said as Casteluchi. In Italian the CC is pronounced as CH. Hope that helps. And yes Geoff = Jeff. And yes Geoff multi layers himself to sing all the parts of the harmony. That change of mood is almost shocking. Certainly stunning. The really low notes are called subharmonics and it's something Geoff has been working on for some years.
Thank you so much for another great reaction to Geoff. I think the lyrics of the song itself are quite sad & Geoff conveys it very well with just enough anger at the end. Geoff always knows how to reach deep down into your soul. He makes you feel the meaning of the lyrics where as others don't.
Thanks for a great reaction. Geoff truly is a force to be reckoned with. For a couple of great covers that really show off his full range, check out Blackbird, High and Dry, Ain't no Sunshine, and House of the Rising Sun. The man has so much talent! (PS: I HAVE played his songs in the car and had to turn it down because I was afraid for the speakers lol)
I love how he used the background music/percussion to ramp it up to the finale. I LOVE his bass, but that Eb4 during the last verse is mind blowing. His range is amazing. As for the country twang you mentioned be on the look out for his next solo release and you'll really hear it. VoicePlay just released Valhalla Calling and it's.......words fail but it's their best yet.
Geoff almost always sings harmony in his "solo" videos, this is the only time (so far) that he hasn't shown multiple Goeffs while singing the harmony. Layne from Voiceplay made a cameo appearance in one of his solos (Saddle Up) but did not do any singing. Usually, it's just him and his wife Kathy producing these. Great reaction! Voiceplay's new one dropped today, Geoff's will drop on the 14th. Just so you know!
I think the word that you were looking for is somber. It’s not dark as in threatening, it’s dark like when you are in a dark place in your life. Normally you can see all of his clones but in this one, I think to emphasize the feeling of aloneness, he chose to keep them vocal only. He does have a little bit of a country sound from time to time as he was born in Virginia. Often he’ll either insert a “yeah” or a “c’mon”. Wait til you see and hear the one that’s coming out on the 14th. He did go old school country. I’m not a big country fan but this has a feeling of something that maybe Johnny Cash would’ve done. It has a depression era feeling. And the one that VoicePlay is releasing today: Geoff does his all out war horn in it.
Geoff’s voice is like smooth dark velvet. It resonates right through you. Next check out Far over the Misty Mountain Cold and 16 Tons. Also Oogie Boogie Song (with Voiceplay). Hell blow you away 😱🤯
Listening to Geoff is mindblowing every time 😍... but I have to ask: will there be other PTX or superfruit reactions???! Or Voctave? It would be sad if not. So far, you have only scratched the surface
This is beautiful and conjures up all the emotional content found in the original. This starts deep but as the emotions change so does Geoff's upper registers. Someone last week called Geoff a panther purring inside a cello. Yeah. Geoff did the vocals including the background voices. Eli did the lighting for this and Layne handled the Steadi-Cam. Geoff's range on this one is Eb1 subharmonic and Bb4 for high note. He has a couple of videos on How to Sing Really Low. You might enjoy those. Don't miss doing VoicePlay's newest just dropped today, Valhalla Calling. It's incredible.
Have reacted to Geoff's Imagine (John Lennon). So gorgeous as well. Before that he did Big Iron (Marty Robbins). Geoff's version of Sound of Silence has become the version I want to hear. I love the lines where the chorus comes in (all Geoff), and then he cautions people, hearing without listening - and silence like a cancer grows - Hear my words that I might teach you- take my arms that I might reach you (wanting to help) but (sadly) my words like silent raindrops fell, echoed in the sound of silence. What makes Geoff's my go to version is that the rage from Disturbed isn't there, PTX- beautiful but really without the human touch Geoff brings, ahd Geoff's sounds like the answer is buried in what he's trying to convey so that we don't have to be alone.
Geoff's name is Italian, so it's pronounced Cas-tah-LOO-chee (primary accent on LOO, secondary accent on Cas). The extremely deep noises in the background in the beginning are an instrument, not Geoff's voice - although I wouldn't put it past him to be able to actually do it if he wanted to. He gave his patrons access to the instrumental background he created for the song, and it shows up there. Mostly Geoff's low chest notes are in the 1-2 register - he can hit G1 fairly easily, so much so that one reactor nicknamed him "Mr. G1". But using his subharmonic techniques, he can get into the 0 register - his lowest recorded note in a video so far is a B0 in VoicePlay's video of the Halo theme - and he hits the B0 twice! Geoff was born in Virginia, but has lived most of his life in Florida around Orlando. So occasionally his southern roots do show up in his singing.
You should do a reaction to Geoff's Take Me Home Country Road and his Ghost Riders in the Sky. For pure fun try his cover of Elvis Presley's Way Down! There are so many and all are great! It is all Geoff. He has about a five octave range. Thank you for this reaction!
I’ve lost two soundbars and one IPhone external speaker since I found VoicePlay. I blame Geoff. I only listen with headphones now. They’re cheaper to replace if needed.
The choir is Geoff multi layering his harmony parts. 😊. How much talent can one man have? Apparently Geoff has it all. So jealous lol😉🇬🇧
Geoff's solo work isn't acapella, but he does all the parts and backup vocals. He does all the arrangement, too.
All voices are Geoff!!!!!!!

Apt description, I would add that PTX's version is the pleading.
@@risperdude you are correct
Excellent description!!! ❤

He is also the arranger of all of his music....
So...

It speaks to Geoff's abilities that all the reactors just accept that it's him though! Like he probably COULD do that if he tried.
Yes it's a synthesized bass, not made by Geoff's voice

Yep - it's all Geoff!
Geoff truly is phenomenally talented. Be on the look out next Friday for his new one to drop 😉😁💜
One said that S&G gave us the warning, Disturbed the anger, and Geoff the resulting sadness
All Geoff. ❤❤❤
And Voiceplay relece Valhalla Calling today. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Eli helped with light, layne with filming.
Thanks for the reaction.
I love how it's all him on singing I LOVE IT.

They just released a new mini yesterday on their minis channel and a new full video today! Your reactions are awesome!

Great vídeo, I love your respect with the singers and arrangements they do, keep doing this good job.
Listening to Geoff is mindblowing every time 😍... but I have to ask: will there be other PTX or superfruit reactions???! Or Voctave? It would be sad if not. So far, you have only scratched the surface
The low sub bass you’re hearing is an instrument

Cas tell oo chee. Geoff is always his own group, no matter how high or low.
Another solo venture you should have a look at is Tim Foust of Home Free and his cover of Will You Still Love Me / Stay.
His chest voice is F#1-B4. Add in subharmonics, growls, fry, head voice, and falsetto, his range grows to A0-A5.
Geoff's name is Italian, so it's pronounced Cas-tah-LOO-chee (primary accent on LOO, secondary accent on Cas).

I just listened to Valhalla calling by VP today. You have to react to that.
Great reaction
Voiceplay release a new song today
It’s voiceplay Valhalla calling me
Please react to this please
very reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkle's version
You should do a reaction to Geoff's Take Me Home Country Road and his Ghost Riders in the Sky. For pure fun try his cover of Elvis Presley's Way Down! There are so many and all are great! It is all Geoff. He has about a five octave range. Thank you for this reaction!
Hop you do some more
Hoping you react to more Voiceplay soon! ❤
I’ve lost two soundbars and one IPhone external speaker since I found VoicePlay. I blame Geoff. I only listen with headphones now. They’re cheaper to replace if needed.
You need to react to voiceplays Valhalla Calling OMG!!!!!!!!
