Everyone is agreed that he made this cover hauntingly beautiful. ❤❤❤❤

Geoff is amazing in fact that you can understand everything he says/sings. For bass singers, their words get muddled when they hit those really low notes. He enunciates every word carefully. That may come from speaking carefully because his wife, Kathy, has profound hearing loss.

Also, from the days of working at Disney/Universal theme parks - they had to do this for those shows too...

One of the benefits of being an independent artist means you are totally on control of what you produce. Geoff works on it until he's satisfied. He did say that by the time he got done editing this one his behind was numb. But it was worth it. :)

In the description of the original, he said he thought he'd never cover this song - but we are all SO glad that he did! 🥰

Truly hauntingly beautiful. So nice to see Geoff's talent cover this song. Love the high range with the sudden drop.

Ed Boyer is the king of sound mixing for VoicePlay and Geoff. Geoff should be hired out to record answering machine messages. Freak people out with his super deep voice.

Geoff has a 5+ octane range. He is singing around a D1. The lowest he can go is B0. The first time he did it was in the "Halo Theme" video by Voiceplay. He has since done it many times thanks to Layne (beatboxer in Voiceplay). Layne challenges Geoff to go lower and lower in the videos he arranges.
Voiceplay's new video will be released tomorrow, Friday the 16th. It is literally out of this world fantastic.

Definitely not at the bottom of his range which is crazy and that is his speaking voice 😅

Great reaction guys!! Voiceplay's new one will be out shortly.

Great reaction to an absolutely stunning performance. Thank you for pointing out that his voice is in the forefront. There is so much music that I would enjoy more if the instrumentation was not so overwhelming.
I don’t know if it’s the way my ears receive that sound or if it’s just a really strong personal preference. But I love when they do a rock (or in the case of Nothing Else Matters, a metal piece) because I get so much more out of it. So often the lyrics seem to be almost an afterthought. Those lyrics sometimes are so gorgeous and I can’t appreciate them because of the aggressive instrumentation.
His cover of Til Then it’s also sung in this lovely grizzly bear voice. It’s like what ASMR must be like for the people who actually enjoy it.

His range here is F#1 to A4. (F1 is his lowest full chest voice so this is close, his subharmonics starts at B0, growl A0, falsetto Bb5).

It's an artistic choice by him to sing in a more breathy way here, as he can put a lot more heft behind those G-sharps if he wants to but not in this arrangement. And I think that's a good thing because it suits this song much better.
F's and F#'s are Geoff's true bottom notes.
So this is indeed towards the bottom of his range, but not quiiiite 😄

    3:16 🤣”What a wicked range you have”-Ryan.
    True.
Thank you. You two “Get it”. I showed this song to someone who was a bit like “Hmmm…I like the original better.” (Womp.)
If you look on Geoff’s channel you’ll find that he has done some reading of poems and short stories. I’ve listened to some of them. His voice is just so pleasant to listen to!

That’s maybe the bottom of his chest voice, but he has a whole sub harmonic range beneath it 😅

According to a comment on Geoff's video from someone who can actually tell what notes Geoff is singing, unlike me (I'll stick with Peter Barber's description, "stupid low"), Geoff's range in this song is about 3-3.5 octaves all told.

Good reaction. Not my favorite Geoff solo. But he never does a bad video - ever.
