I have to say I love this "ridiculous version" of an over exposed but wonderful old sea shanty everyone and their mother sings .A music video is like a snapshot in time creating a wonderful experience evoking memories and emotions and they excel at that.The best part is you can still just listen to the track and really enjoy the music alone it's so good. Great reaction and analysis. The BTS was ... no words ,when someone is laughing from behind the camera you know it's gonna be gold. Not just singers but entertainers probably what makes their live shows sound like so much fun. VP is the entire package. Speaking of childhood Geoff just dropped a short of Paul Bunyon.
Their use of the bts footage to promote their Patreon was a great way of marketing their brand. And true, if they're all laughing, you know it's gonna be great! 😂
What I thought was interesting was seeing them put the set together, already in costumes and makeup. And thank you for commenting on the acting-all these guys are amazing actors. Great reaction, Jeff!
As an actor myself, I've gotta show appreciation for those with amazing talent. I also enjoyed looking at some of their behind the scenes setup for the Patreon promotion at the end. Glad you enjoyed the video 😁👍
Yes this one was so much fun to watch! They did have a blast filming it. Eli once again did the lighting for this video. The drunken Sailor was a former band mate way back before VoicePlay was VoicePlay. His name is Matthew “Bucky” Buckner. He recently had a small part in the VP mini for 500 Miles. He also choreographed Geoff’s Monster Mash video from 2 years ago.
@@JeffreyHackReacts Bucky does voice overs in movies now -- Disney maybe. I saw one comment saying he'd ruined his singing voice singing to much, but he sound pretty good in their 500 Miles video.
I like the fact that Geoff had a wooden spoon during his "full on dark" bit. Takes me back to when folks used to say, "I'll carve his heart out with a wooden spoon!" That added part at the ending just made me what to grab a pint and join them!
This was such a hoot to watch, I just love it. Geoff's arrangement is amazing, especially the bridge he added. And, after they did Creep, we needed some giggles. I think my favorite bits of acting were Eli crying when the whale got the longboat, his reaction to Bucky drinking out of his cup, Cesar wiping his hands on Bucky's vest after touching the toilet seat, Layne's expression when Jose sunk the longboat, Jose and Cesar conspiring on what to do next. And I didn't even skip the ads, hope it helps!

I think Geoff's version is better than Johnny's. Listen till the end when Geoff is explaining something interesting. Yes, he has a surprise in the video. Cesar is my favorite. His expressions & attitudes are the best & so funny.

I believe the touch of self-irony when Eli says "And we should make him listen to Voiceplay while we do it!", and Bucky makes that gesture with his hand and finger, and then José says "You... Are a monster!". And Bucky kinda "completes" the gesture, sort of "approving" what José just said. It's as if the truly HORRIBLE thing isn't to have his heart carved out with a wooden spoon (BTW, nice reference to a Alan Rickman's line in "Robin Hood"...), but instead "having to listen to Voiceplay in the meanwhile"! 😁😁😅😅 And also the last part, after the end of the song, when they really sing like drunken sailors 😅😅. But it's all an excellent video, and musically, well, what could we ask more? 🙂 See you next time!
Did you notice the camera was not still for a second? Always swaying and swinging which gives me a slight queasiness when I concentrate on that (I get it on a real boat too 😅)... This gives this song an extra vibe in my opinion... all other parts: exquisite entertainment -> in other words "VoicePlay"... 🎉😂❤ great reaction btw😊
One bit of really great video editing is when Bucky throws the doll. If you watch really closely there is a change of angle as the doll flies off the table. I think it was done in 2 shots. One to push the doll away (but she is still on the table) and one of just the 'blanket' wrapped to look like the doll is inside which actually goes to the floor. Therefore Clara would not have broken as she hit the floor. So I bet we see her again someday.@@JeffreyHackReacts

I never liked Johnny's version of it but as always Geoff made me love it.

Also loved ‘riding the wave’ of Eli’s voice right as the dancing starts. We got a taste of it in”Wellerman” but this was a more robust ride.
I saw someone ask if anyone had ever seen angry beatboxing before. That made me giggle.
