      100%. I’ve been a guitarist for over 30 years, I cut my teeth on this album. There’s a lot of great metal out there, but I have to say Rust is probably my #1. Very musical, great lyrics, great song writing, and of course, Marty Friedman. Of note: they remixed and remastered this album in 2004, and I much prefer the sound of the drums on the original. I think both versions of the album are available on Spotify. This one in your video is the remastered version. The snare sounds completely different.

    First off, there are 11 solos in Hangar 18. Most are by Marty. Dave has a few during the second part of the song. Second, yes, Megadeth has long intros into many of their songs. Third, you need to check out an older Megadeth song, "My Last Words". It has a great bass line. Not what you might expect. David Ellefson plays bass on both songs. His style worked great with Dave's rhythm tracks. One thing I love about Megadeth is many songs are recorded in the midrange allowing the bass to often shine through, compared to other Metal bands whose songs are all on the bottom end of the guitar.

    • @ExploringTheSmoke
      @ExploringTheSmoke  8 месяцев назад +3

      One of the first things I picked up with this one, is for a thrash metal song, how much groove there is in the bass line, my last words will also be added to the list thank you Metal for the knowledge, glad you enjoyed 💪🏻

    • @mattsabath

    Dave Mustaine's Megadeth is a blast of military-precision munitions. The architect of aggression, Mustaine, is one heck of a songwriter. And this album is probably their best, the instrument composition and guitar solos are just . . . *chef's kiss.*

      @@ExploringTheSmoke (@ronpaul1082) For sure, those recommendations are excellent and far more educated than the most popular 101 recommendations people give to a first-time Megadeth listener, but from a bass perspective, I would say keep Five Magics and add Poison Was the Cure from the same album, but skip Looking Down the Cross (in your no. 1 priority list) and take Peace Sells instead of My Last Words (these 2 from the same album again).
      On the long term, all songs recommended above are worth listening to, because as a whole, Looking Down the Cross and My Last Words are some of their best songs indeed.
      EDIT: Oh, very important note! Take extra caution to avoid remastered versions when it comes to any Megadeth, because aside from various mistakes and general bad sound, bass is what especially suffers.

    megadeth, slayer, black flag... ooof
    Marty did all the very musical (arpegio-filled) solos and dave did al the shrieking, screaming heavy uber fast ones.
    the bassist was also a legend in the metal community, David ellifson. Marty was very famous w guitarists, had some solo instrumental albums before he joined that were highly regarded in he guitar community back then. he was a teacher at GIT ( guitar institute of tech) in LA. he still does a ton of masterclasses and still goes into GIT to do some.
