    For MIDI controllers and interfaces, you can get USB-C to USB-B/mini/micro and just replace the cable outright so you only need to carry the cable, not a cable+dongle.

    Dude. Love your vids. I feel ya on the ports. I absolutely hate dongles. It’s just another thing to keep track of. What I ended up doing for my 2017 MBP was getting a usb-c printer cable, which has the usb b end on it. I rarely have to use a dongle, and they’re cheap. I think I spent $8 per cable.

    Been waiting for your opinion and review as a music producer about the new MacBook Pro. I order myself the 16 inch 32gb ram 1tb ssd and m1 pro the other day, and from what youre saying this will be enough for me to produce music on, so im happy I made the right choice. I didnt go with the pro max chip because the battery time get affected ALOT and you dont really need better grapics anyway if going for music production. Saved myself 585 dollars on that. Again ty for your inputs on this bro highly appreciated!!! :)

      This is true, so it's not a major inconvenience, but it would have been great if they had included just one regular port like Bolo said. Hate carrying dongles personally. Thanks for the review. Ive been wanting to hear from musicians on these. Im still going to wait until they come out with a mini using these chips which probably means another 6 months or so. I was looking at the 14 inch machines but the more powerful GPU versions might be better for me, I also do graphic design so thats still important to me. I occasionally use after effects too but dont know how well it even works on these machines. Adobe has always been terrible at optimizing. Im actually rocking a 2009 5’1 mac pro tower. Lol. So my machine is ancient BUT i upgraded everything last year. SSD drives 32 gigs of ram and faster CPU so it’s sufficient and MUCH faster than it was . I would like to get a few more tracks without the CPU screaming though.

    Thank you for this video. However, I'm a bit surprised to see that you didn't mention the HUGE problem everyone seems to have trying to make music out of a MIDI keyboard/controller, no matter the software as this MBP doesn't recognize them at all. I own an AKAI keyboard and it doesn't work one bit on my 14" MBP. Same problem occurs for many people so I contacted Apple and they basically admitted that it would be a long road to having my MIDI keyboard working as it should. PS: My keyboard works just fine on my PC. Quite disappointing, to say the least.

    If you seen the logic benchmarks (sourcefrom Music Prod. and Max Tech), regardless of 16GB or 32GB of RAM on the unbinned M1 Pro both had the same limit for amount of tracks which I think was around 150-180. Even so if RAM is overused it will go into swap using storage. This is the first time we can confidently say that 16GB will actually be fine for 90% of people. Apple is changing the way we think of normal computer components today. I was hesitant on planning for 32GB RAM but I may actually go with 16 with a extra storage bump. It's just so pressuring to want to spend more and not regret it haha.

    • @deannguyen1910
      @deannguyen1910 2 года назад

      I think actually on M1 it isn't called RAM (Unified Memory, which mean it would have further function than RAM). It is used VRAM, DRAM and especially Rosetta spends much RAM). So I just think 32GB is worth for some cases need alot of Rosetta and editing.

      @@deannguyen1910 True, in some cases it would help but it seems to be the better the CPU, the better that Logic will work under it.
      While RAM definitely does matter, after 16GB it seems to be more a shift towards CPU power handling. 32GB seems like a waste but 64GB with the M1 Max will benefit hugely down the line in the future.
      M1 with 16GB can handle like 80 to 90 tracks but M1 Pro with 16GB can handle 120 to around 180 maximum.

      true. the new M1 and M1 Pro/Max are superior processors, meaning RAM isn't needed like in some Windows setups

      @@BoloDaProducer now I don’t recommend this for making Beats, only for those who are paid to squeeze the most quality out of a recording...I used to have a Pro Audio store so I’ve used it all from Behringer and Focusrite to DPA and Prism Sound.

      SSL 2+ has two inputs and two headphone outs with separate volume controls. Or just get a cheap headphone amp like the Mackie HM4 with four headphone outs and it can go with any interface.

    I’m running fairly large sessions (almost every session is around 100+ tracks). In my current MacBook I have to try so many times to get the session played properly. (Even after freezing some tracks) so I would really like someone’s opinion on this.

    Hey man, great vid as always! I’m looking to getting a similar model for home and travel. Although I’m familiar with logic (ish) I want to learn more and create music hence the purchase. Could you please recommend a good audio interface to use as currently using my Allen and health mixer but I can record individual tracks together. Any help would be great and keep up the great content :)

    No dongles woohoooo!!! My only grip is the usb slot.. all my keyboard workstation has usb slots… the 16gb is more like a 32gb because of the efficiency of the cpu and gpuu… so I just went with the 16 inch 16gig ram with 1tb storage… fl studio works flawlessly. Logic works good … I also use the symphony desktop… sometimes my symphony goes in and out.. but I think with an update it will be fine!!

    I have the 16" 2019 intel 8 core version 2.4Ghz with 64GB of Ram haha..200 tracks , no problem - ALL my plugins actually work. Can't believe only 50% of the plugin makers are willing to change over to true Silicon support. But the headphone out, bigger size and thickness, ... I WANT IT!!! And your 2012 was a 15.4" ;) Also there are worlds between a 2012 and 2016, then worlds between the 2016 and 2019.

    What Studio One do you have? I have S1-4 and I updated to waves V13 and I couldn’t get them to work. Waves said they are backward comparable so sounds like it was something on me? I pulled up a session with a lot of plugins and my DAW couldn’t recognize them. As soon as I deleted them and uploaded the V12 waves they came right back up.
