Excellent description
Thanks 👌💎
Nice to see more and more native vsts arriving!
Yeah Zeus, I think adoption has gone fast and smooth. I though it would go slower. Very happy that the products I use for the majority of my own work is now fully compatible: Logic, FL Studio, Omnisphere, Serum, Valhalla Supermassive, Davinci resolve, Affinity, Godot, VS Code etc. 🥳🦊🌞 All my hardware also work with the M1 except the old Maudio Keystation Mini 32mk2. Lol but I replaced it with a Arturia Keystep 37.🎂
Great review, thanks! :)
You are welcome!
the video quality is insane!! 💙
Thanks Blue. Good lighting and 4k for the win! I try to improve all the time with my content! Glad the hard work comes across. 🏆🥳🎉🦊
Great info!
Glad it was helpful!
I have not had any issues with the 8gig for music production or 4k video. I have the Air with the same specs as your pro. Like yourself, I have been going crazy with plugins in logic and no issues at all.
Yeah it works just fine! The M1 equipped macs are great machines!
are you recommending this over the Pro? I really want to save money so if I can do all I need on an Air, then I will go that route? (Production, recording, video editing)
@@_SZNN I would over the Pro if you aren’t doing super heavy work loads with video sucks as RED or 6K stuff. Even with that being said 16gig would be fine if you stuck with the air. The only real differences between the pro and air in this lineup are the fans and Touch Bar. The Touch Bar is silly and the use of fans is almost not a thing if you arnt doing super heavy processing. I’ve had no issues at all. I do plan to get a 16gig Mini for heavier work loads :)
After 2 years is it still running fine?
Indeed it is @@AdrianTorres

So nice to see this little experiment, Mattias, thank you! Though I'm not really into Apple equipment, it's still so interesting to see the progress and these significant changes in CPU architecture. So yes, glad it seems to open new possibilities for you at reduced pricing! Ready to complete the transition to M1 fully yet?)
Oh yes, the M1 performance surpass what I could ever expect. Running OBS recording video AND making music at the same time on a laptop this size, at this price...pffff...it's just ridiculous. Also good for running VS Code, since it's now optimized for arm64 too. Although upgradability is lost, it's still awesome to have the memory in the same package as the cpu and with the arm64 RISC instructions we get less heat. Every time I work on my 2016 MacBook Pro I think, man why the heat....lol M1 Jummy! 🌞
@@MattiasHolmgren Oh yeah, nice! Hopefully there'd be more models with it in future

Really helpful video, thanks! It would be really great if you could you show us what your system latency is? Also, would it be possible to test these plugins on lower latencies - under 10ms? For example, if you didn't want to use quantising but give a performance/record without the grid.
Hi I was running buffers size at 128 = 8.7ms roundtrip latency in Logic Pro X.
@@MattiasHolmgren great stuff, thanks!
Great video. What hub/dock are you using to get more connections?
Hi Maramind, I am using a mixture of hubs:

Great review sir, may I ask how much space does the logic use? If I only had the base model, how many tracks do you think may work?
You are welcome Kayrelle! Do you mean how much space Logic requires once installed? You can always skip installing the extra soundlib content which is like 70GB. Logic on M1 can handle "enough" audio tracks for major projects. SSD is very fast and responsive, as expected. I can give u an exact number later today. 😉🥳🦊
@@MattiasHolmgren well thanks for the info.
Amazing review. I'm planning on buying an M1 MBP with 16Go of RAM next week. I'm still hesitating between the 2To version or just the 1To with an extra external SSD.

Is it working fine with 8 gigs of ram?
Do you think it will run good while running steam labs OBS & FL studio? My 2017 MacBook is not able to handle all that 😔
It worked fine for me running OBS + FL Studio. Yeah, my old intel MB Pro also got pretty hot running FL and OBS. Check my clip running FL + OBS on M1 Macbook pro 13" (2020): ruclips.net/video/4D03sywZHgE/видео.html
Good stuff. Makes me feel good about what a 16 GB RAM, 512 SSD might do but do you think such a machine will be good for 4+ years or should I look to the 32 GB models? Mainly for EDM, sampling tracks in ableton with a few plugins..
For EDM Absolutely!
How's the disk space? How does it handle 2Tb of Native Instrument software that hogs all the disk space?
Great video thanks for making, question - which interface do you use with your M1? I'm having a bit of trouble with my Audient Sono. ..!
Hi Edward, thanks. Sorry for the late reply. Sometimes comments get lost. I using Apollo Twin X, Komplete Audio 6 mk2 audio interfaces with the M1 MacBook Pro. Works fine!

So M1 uses different approach to RAm? Like people cried about 16 or 8GB in PCs with windows and here 8GB enough for semi hard core user? How come? How it's explained technology wise?
@@MattiasHolmgren So M1 uses different approach to RAm? Like people cried about 16 or 8GB in PCs with windows and here 8GB enough for semi hard core user? How come? How it's explained technology wise?
8GB is always 8, so its limiting in the way you can max out running multiple apps with heavy images, video etc. But the mem usage of Big Sur is very clever and I never ran into mem issues even though I run OBS, Logic at the same time... And often VScode + Affinity Designer too. Since the mem is in the same package as the cpu core its very swift mem swapping between cpu and RAM thus its a faster computer in many ways. I don't have insight into the actual OS handling of memory. But the swift internal ssd and mem close to cpu makes it speedy. I also think Big Sur has a clever way of handling the mem between the apps, when you shift apps. Probably some nifty caching going on too. All in all its a huge leap in performance. And I actually dont feel that the 8GB feel low when working. It can't be compared to precious gen. Its a new design in the M1 architecture.
I have 64 GB / 128GB on my stationary desktop Macs and they don't feel faster. But I can obviously load up several huge sample libraries, running video editing and gfx edit big images at the same time. That said, we humans often work on mostly 1 or 2 tasks at the same time. 😉 Apple M1 wins in my eyes. Cant wait to see the next gen of Apple Silicon when it comes out. 🌞
@@MattiasHolmgren alright so I grabbed today $1460 deal:

I'm a full time remote freelancer for an IT company, my work is basically lots of Helpdesk via browser, at times I have 40 tickets (tabs) open and I need swiftly run between them.
On my windows laptops, it's no longer as swift and smooth as I want, even though one laptop has 24GB ram with i7 6700 and one 16GB ram with i7 8580 or something like this....
У меня MacBook air 2015-го года и в нем логика отлично работает без всякой задержки и перегруза
Hey there sometime when I connect my studio monitor to audio interface my cursor in MacBook Pro works little slow becomes little dizy can you help out in the issue … by the way love your content style really appreciate the effort
Hi, connecting your studio monitors to the the XLR / TELE output of your audio interface should not effect MacBook Pro performance in any way. They only thing that would effect MacBook Pro is when you connect / disconnect the USB cable from the audio interface to the computer. Because the computer will handle the connection / disconnection of a new peripheral device. Connecting tele / xlr cables back n forth to the audio interface will not effect performance of the audio interface. So I can't really see what the root of your problem could be. What Audio interface are you using?
One of my main interests was to see how fast you can switch between sounds in omnisphere and you edited all those parts out lol. Is it faster than your previous setup?
Sorry, 😂, yeah the M1 and M1 Max is definitely faster with Omnisphere 2 than any of my previous configs. 🍿☕️
@@MattiasHolmgren Would be cool to see how many instances of Omnisphere you can run at the same time without problems. Like 10 of them, for example. It's a pretty realistic "demo" considering Omnisphere tries to cover everything (bass, piano, pads, drums(?) you name it). Pretty much all the instruments you'd need for a entire track.
Appreciate the intel
You are welcome Doral! 🎉🌞
I'm upgrading my computer to the new M2 MacBook Air. I'll use it for music production. l'm using Komplete Now plug-ins plus the Roland Cloud plug-ins. My current MacBook air early 2014 won't handle using those plug-ins. The new one should be able to handle these virtual instruments
Yeah you'll get an awesome facelift from that 2014 Macbook Air in your new M2! Let me know what you think once you get to try it out! Happy producing James! ☕🌞
Hi there can you do a video where you layer serum/Omnisphere sounds on top of each other until it overloads?
That would be fun. ;)
Hi ! So firstly, I'm thankful for your video, it's precise and nicely built !
Secondly : I plan on buying a mac mini m1 with 8gb of ram, for music prod with something like 15 tracks per project. I'd run it all on Reaper, do you think it should be enough ? It's mostly about recording guitars, composing midi drums, bass and maybe a synth from time to time :)
Absolutely! That's totally fine for your music prod. process. 💪 Appreciate the kind feedback! 🙏
@@MattiasHolmgren Thanks a lot ! Then it's a really afordable piece of second hand tech here :D (around 450€ in general)
Your communication and kind vibe are also appreciated, thanks a lot 🤗
I have a questions...Are you able to use crack plugings and flp on the your Mac or new Mac's 2022? I haven't done beats in a long time. The beats are from back in the early 2000 when there was a lot of plugings and flp being cracked going around. I'm thinking of getting back into making beats on my free time just not sure if Mac's would allow my plugings that I have from those days, for example hypersonic. Love you videos by the way 👏🙂🔥
Eh… I don’t use cracked plugins so…
Bonjour, ta vidéo est très intéressante.
Mais concernant la température du CPU, il y a t'il pas des problème sur de longue durée de production musicale ? Y-a-t-il du throttle avec des lag ou freeze après quelques heures avec des vst lourd ?
Well the MacBook pros has active ventilation so that helps a lot, I haven’t heard of heating issues
Hi Mattias,I’m a new subscriber and would like to say your videos are very thoroughly professional technical and very helpful.I’m
a 54 year old beginner to intermediate beginner producer just starting and wondered which Mac to get I’m on a very very tight budget and prefer a mobile solution .I use Ableton Live 9 which I have to upgrade and use Komplete 13 standard and M32 keyboard with an external 1TB thunderbolt.Produce lofi and a few other genres ,coming from a mid 2012 15” i7 that overheats massively what would you recommend?I also use few instances Output’s arcade ,Noir Piano and such instruments and keep some drum samples on another external drive .Current laptop struggles massively after 17 to 20 tracks.Thank you. Robert Primus
Hey Robert, the M1s can handle a massive amount of audio tracks and plugins even on the base models. As long as the plugins are optimized and compiled for arm64 (Apple Silicon) they run like a charm. I have a new M1 video dropping today where I will give an update on my experience with the tech. Watch out for that one. ☕️☀️
@@MattiasHolmgren Ok that’s good to know as I’ve been trying to make a decision.Would you say that the latest M1 Air or Mac Mini would do the job just fine using Kontakt instruments particularly? I will check out your new video today. Thanks for your quick reply.Keep up the good work .🙏
And would it be best getting the 2020 M1 which ever model Mac air or 13” MacBook Pro running Big Sur or Monterey to avoid any issues? Which OSX is more stable?Sorry to repeat myself.Thank you very much.
running omnisphere single patch would not task the m1 or Intel based for that matter
its loading multi 's that are busy that would at least show some processor movement
Yeah, I know it's a quick and simple test. That said depending on the patch setup, effects, filters, engine etc it always tax cpu and memory. I did load a multi on the final patch. But yes, i didnt load several tracks of Omnisphere. Thats for another video. 😉🥳🌞 Good to see ya Izzy!
@@MattiasHolmgren thanks
Hi Mattias! Thanks for your video. What about using Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 with MacBook Pro 13" or 14"??? If I have to buy my first Macbook Pro to begin in amateur music production at home. It's just to create my own music and record my creations. I've tryed with a Windows Laptop and I'm bored of all. Do you think its better to buy new 2021 Macbook pro 14" instead of 13"?? I think there are many diferences, not only price. Dankeschön
Hi I think the Scarlett will run just fine. You can check my article on compatibility www.morningdewmedia.com/should-you-buy-a-new-macbook-with-apple-m1-silicon-cpu-for-music-production/ The 13” MacBook Pro M1 8GB is excellent for music prod. The 14” M1 Pro / Max features more power but its pricey. I would totally recommend the 13” for amateur to intermediate music prod. I am personally using it every day. But obviously using the 14” a bit more since grabbing it. But the 13” is perfect form factor! Good luck! 🎻☀️🍿🥁
Awesome
Thanks!
Can I install komplete 13 in an external ssd ??
I feel like it needs more ports. But how well does it run avid protools?
Yeah my old Intel MacBook Pro 15" from 2016 has 4 TB ports. I wish they pushed for that into the 13" MBP 2020 with M1 too...can't have everything I guess. I solved it by using a TB hub, you can see it in action here: ruclips.net/video/G2zMIKsPywg/видео.html Pro Tools apparently works through Rosetta 2, but I don't use PT anymore so I wouldn't know how well. ;)
Just layer some serum presets/omnisphere.... Let's see how m1 respond
It just works fine. 😉
Also, Spectrasonics software just got Native Apple M1 compatible softwares! So performance should be even more epic now. 🌞🚀🥳
Mathias, what you think about MacBook Air m1 16 gb 7 core vs MacBook Pro m1 8 g 8 core? I sold my 2018 MacBook Pro to go M1 now. I’m going to used it for techno live ableton production and catch samplers thru a Scarlett interface like my octatrack elektron.
I would go with the Air 16GB. Because there is enough power in the M1 cpu, and RAM isnt upgradable in an M1 cpu. It will work great to capture audio recordings. How do you like the Octatrack? Do u have mk2? I have the Digitakt, its lovely little random accidents sample player. 🥳☕️🥁Good luck and enjoy that new M1, lovely tech!
Hey Matias do you think the screen is to small? also Are you going to get the new macbook when it comes out?
Nah, you get used to it. I still have my 15" around (but only use it for certain company booking tasks) and also connect to an external 28". But day-to-day I work on the 13". It's so flexible with the size. I move around the house and my second studio with ease. I might grab the new MacBook when it comes out, we will see.
@@MattiasHolmgren Good to know! newwer models look promising but I will probably just grab the 13" m1
my pc has 32gb and it is ok for now, but soon will have to upgrade. vsti samples are getting heavier. 8gb is pure nonsense this days if you use virtual instruments.
Hi thanks for the video, do you think there is a big difference between the air and the pro, because I’m a student and the 300$ are a huge difference for me
Know what u mean. The Air should definitely be good enough for general purpose music production Shaymaa. Cheers! ❤️☕️☃️
I do music production and sound design. a lot of
folks say that a lot of ram is a good thing when
using vsti with huge sample-banks. On the other
hand a lot of cpu-Cores should in theory be a
good thing when using a lot of tracks with
several vsti and also when using real-time fx on
audio and stuff. Should I get the 8c 14' with 32
gig of ram, or rather the 10c 1 4" with 16 gig of
ram?
I am going to run tests on the M1 MAX 14" 32GB when it arrives in a few weeks to get a better solid answer to your question. But the 8GB 13" M1 already performs excellent! Never had a laptop this cool and with great performance. Love the M1 tech so far! Generally you always want as much RAM as possible to be future proof since it's not possible to upgrade internal memory, while you can always grab external discs for more disc space. Take that into consideration when selecting your next Mac. Thanks Benjamin.
@@MattiasHolmgren I am so keen on your upcoming video Mattias!
In how long will you receive your new macbook!
it is going to be great to see your reaction, as i trust you fully know how it is to produce using a m1.
most videos online are just regarding video export times…
and some reviewers are saying the new mbp’s are great, but they arent necessarily comparing it to the already amazing m1 macbooks.
@@coose0 hey, yeah I got the M1 MAX 14" MacBook Pro yesterday, and I'm currently installning all software to begin the tests and prepare the comparison episodes. Yeah, like you mention most current videos are not even from music producers, but rather video editors who just load up Logic without knowing what to show / load and compare. LOL
I'll be focusing on comparing performance between the M1 and M1 MAX, since, like you know, Intel isn't even close anymore. But I will probably throw in some intel comparison just because it's such a vast space between them. ,)
What I can say for now, before any videos, is that I initially like the form factor of the original M1 before the M1 MAX 14". It has a brand new overall design and I've grown so accustomed to the light package of the 13" M1. Insane power in a small package. But M1 MAX will probably have a lot to compensate with regarding raw cpu power performance.
The new keyboard is sleek and feels nice. The internal speakers of the M1 MAX does indeed sound much better than previous. FInally you can identify a little bit of bass.
Loading projects and updating plugins (when installing new pluggs) in Logic is insanely fast on M1 MAX! ;)
@@MattiasHolmgren sounds awesome. you are helping myself and many others out. thanks!!
I'm able to make good beats on a 2012 i5 macbook pro with a 500gb ssd I'm sure a base model m1 or m2 will have a massive performance boost
Yeah nothing wrong with older Macs. I also recall logic pro 9 was super lightqweight compared to logic pro x. Ran like a beauty! 😄
Single core performance that equals or betters the Ryzen 5950x which is the best of x86 and faster than anything from Intel. Runs totally silent and cool which will ensure long life. Sips power at 18 watts total system power. And all this at a price point of, well, if you're buying the little Mac Mini you can get them as low as $599 from the Apple refurbished store, hmmm yeah I think you could say it's total game changer. You get better single core performance on this than the fastest Intel macs at the moment (the i7 2020 imac). Also a quick clarification about the Thunderbolt ports. Yes there are only two but each of those ports have a dedicated PCIe lane and each is on its own separate bus. This means 40gbps throughput per port for a total of 80gbps total. That's a hell of a lot better than the 27" 2020 iMacs which have two ports but only one bus so 40gbps total throughput. Great machines. There's never been this much performance at this price point. My M1 mini embarrasses my 27" 2020 iMac i7 for music production.
Hi, yes it's finally a great leap in tech. The thing I love about it the most is the tight portable setup, and that I can finally run my favourite software like Logic Pro, FL Studio, Bitwig, Davinci Resolve, Affinity Designer AND VS Code with a completely cool computer. It's lovely!
Great note on the available throughput of the dual thunderbolt/USB-C ports!
I second the price point! My previous mac cost around €3.800 when it was new. This M1 cost €1.600.
Yes, the my intel MBP 2016 is 15" 16GB, and my M1 is 13" 8GB. BUT the M1 still outperforms the old intel mac. ;) I'm glad we finally can get macs at a more reasonable price.
Thanks!
Hey! I hope you have time to respond at some point. I don’t produce music; however, I do plan to run Keyscape and logic to produce sounds for my midi keyboard. I’m wondering which MacBook would be suitable for me?
All Spectrasonics products work great with the new M1 technology so I would advice on an M1 Air (if limited budget) or the M1 Pro with as much RAM and SSD as you can afford. Hope the info helps! //Mattias🥁☕️☀️
Hey Claudio! Yeah, for larger orchestral libraries I advice using a desktop computer. 🌞
Hi !
I was wondering if you could help me with working out how to use bitwig with 2 moinitors? Im wanting to put the mix panel on one and arrangement on the other but I don't know how to do this
Hi Dominus. You can do this by going to Dashboard > Settings > User Interface and selecting "Dual Display (Arranger/Mixer)" in the "Display Profile" option.
Setup dual display in Dashboard/Settings/User interface. There are several ways to split the view on dual screen setups. 🥳🍿
Great upload! Have you tried to connect the M1 to an external monitor yet?
Yes,connecting the M1 to my regular external Asus IPS display via USB-C to HDMI worked just fine.
Hi Mattias, I got my new MacBook Air M2. I installed Logic Pro X, The sound libraries should run a lot quicker now. It's going to be a great year for music production!
Great to hear! Happy holidays and hope you get some awesome tunes made on your new M2! Sick laptops!
10 months lates, is it worth? Your macbook is 8gb or 16gb? I'm thinking about a M2 pro 8gb/256 for music production and work. But today I have a normal PC with Intel core i9 and 16GB RAM. Does it worth the change? (Both are the same price, so if I sell my PC I will be able to buy the macbook).
@@meditation8231Hey man! Did you buy a macbook and can you tell me something about your experience now?
i was liking the preview of blacklight 👌
Thanks happy to hear you enjoy the sneak peak of Backlight. 🌞
Hi! I’m thinking about buying a new M1 MBA or Mac Mini for composition/music production. I use Ableton Live and Cubase mostly with third party VSTs. Everyone recommends me to get the 16gb version. Apart from that, do you think with 256gb I’ll be good if I use external storage? How do you manage your VST’s libraries? Thank you! :)
Hi, 256 GB is def enough for the OS disc, if you run with external disc for your big sample libs. Personally I always go for the 512GB in my laptops so I can have stuff like Omnisphere etc on the main disc. So I don't need to bring extra external discs everywhere. I do have most other big sample libs (Heavyocity, East West, 8DIO etc.) on external discs though. But Omnisphere, Trilian, RMX stays on my system disc. 🌞
@@MattiasHolmgren thx! I like your channel! 🙌🏻
Thanks, much appreciated fb! 🥳🎂🌞
Thank you so much for the breakdown.
Being on a budget constraint I am in a bit of a pickle.
To future proof the M1 13' Pro, would you recommend going with 256gb memory and 16gb RAM or 526 GB memory and 8 gb RAM?
My style of music takes up a mix of vocals, instruments and vsts like Kontakt, Vital etc.
I would suggest going for 512GB SSD & 8GB RAM. The 8GB RAM will take you very far. That said if you are really on a budget go for 256GB SSD and 16GB RAM, you an always extend the disc space with an external disc, but it's impossible to extend the internal memory. But as I said, I own the 8GB model and it's been totally enough this past year. And I do professional work in music, graphics, animation, videos, apps, games, web etc.
Note: I just ordered the brand new 14" M1 Max with 1TB SSD, 32GB RAM which will ship in 3-4 weeks! Excited to do an update video comparing the first gen M1 against the brand new M1 Max. Stay tuned for a review. 🌞🎅
8GB is perfectly fine for everyone. If you find you need more juice you're far better off buying a refurbished slave machine for 1/10th of the price of upgrading to 16gb ram. Also don't ever plan to use a laptop long term. Their useable life for production purposes is 5 years as you're more likely to buy the next iterations of the M1. Also it amazes me why people don't freeze audio tracks. Once you've made your composition freeze the track as there is really no need to run samplers or synth plugins live. Free the CPU.
@@kehindea I noticed that some samples sound different especially with added effects like reverb or chain. So thos tends to discourage me from freezing them.
I wonder if with the M1 I can still have a productive session without without freezing?
Yes, I never freeze because of cpu issues during production. Only when I need to work with audio rather than midi. :)
In Logic, make sure you have the advanced tools available in preferences. Right click a track, select Track headers. Tick ”Freeze” so its available to select on the tracks. Now you can click the freeze icon on whatever track you want to freeze and save up CPU. ;)
It’s mentioned some plugins use more memory. I don’t use samples and such. I record my music and want to add reverb, effect like delay and tube compression effects. I can’t find info about this. Say ten audio tracks with 4-5 recorded simultaneously. I could get an m1 with 8gb for 1k. To me it seems like a no brainer.
Absolutly! M1 MBP is a great machine.
Hej hut mar du? This video helps me to decide between a MacBook Pro 8Gb / 256GB or the MacBook Air M1 8GB / 512GB, Im electronic music DJs and some ableton live audio or machine sets and to produce some tracks in Logic Pro. What do you recommend?
Hi thanks Im fine. 8GB is totally fine for general music prod purposes. If you do heavy orchestral templates more RAM is recommended. Cheers! ☕️🍿
TRYING TO CHANGE PRESETS OF OMNISPHERE DURING PLAYBACK THAT 3 SECOND WAIT OR SO IS INFURIATING
Should I wait for the MX1 Macbook Pro chip or will it not be much different?
Its all up to you. I feel the current one rocks. Tight cold package with excellent performance.
Why does it sound like you got a Tremolo/vibrato effect on your voice?
Brilliant video btw.
Thanks, haha dunno why it sounds so? Maybe slept too little. Lol 😂🍿🥳🥁
Hey there, after all these days. Does the Komplete Audio 1/2/6 is compatible with m1 macbook ?
Yes Prem, I am using it with a Komplete Audio 6 mk2 without issues. Also running an Apollo Twin X at the same time. Aggregated audio interface device. ;)
You Need At Least 8 💪
always! ;)
Do you think I should get 16 gb of ram or 8 gb? It’s for my future Mac mini M1 setup with 512 go of storage. It’s cheaper than a laptop for my home studio and it leaves me more budget to max the thing out. For the portability side I can use my iPad.
If anyone has experience would love a little advice😉
Thanks in advance.
Grab as much ram as you can afford for future compatibility. ☀️🥁
Ah man I've been looking for this video!
Thank you so much for the info! I cannot afford 16GB so I think the 8GB will be enough!
Superb, happy to help out! ☀️
What kind of dock / converter are you using? I have a problem with usb-c ;/
Atm i'm using a Thomann Super Speed 3.1 Gen 1 HUB with 7 USB-A and One USB-C port, I also have secondary HUB chained to my primary hub which is also a Thomann 7.1 Port USB 3.
IS 8GB RAM (mac mini M1) ENOUGH FOR MUSIC PRODUCTION ?
I USE 15-25 AUDIO AND MIDI INSTRUMENTS (TOGETHER) in reaper, cubase or Logic pro x !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi, are there any compatibility issues with a Behringer Umc22 and an Arturia KeyLab 49 keyboard? Thanks for support!
Hi, I dont have the Behringer UC22, but I do have a Arturia Keystep 37 and it runs just fine. Only usb gear that didnt work so far is the old M-Audio Keystation Mini 32. But all other gear was found and could be used just fine.
@@MattiasHolmgren Yeah, thanks! I produce music and do graphics on a daily basis. Which one do you recommend between the MacBook Pro 8 GB and the MacBook Air 16 GB? The price is similar
I personally always go with the pro models so thats what I recommend. But this new air model is probably very nice too. Heard great things about it. Im very happy with my 8GB MBP 13" 2020. Its perfect for music and gfx design.
Great video...But that wall paper 😵😵😵
Maybe a blue paint with some LED and dim the lights
Best regards, Rick
This is a temporary studio location, during reconstruction of my studio nr1. Say no more. 😂😉🥳

Oh Awesome
OK I'll subscribe
Cant wait to see it
What about the Mac Mini? Been looking at that for music produktion
The Mac Mini M1 is also superb for music prod, it's the same cpu so you should be alright!
Do you think you could have done this project on the m1 Air? With 8g ram?
Hi Adam, yes I believe so. There isn’t that drastic difference between the two. I just ordered the M1 Max MacBook Pro 14” with 32GB RAM, will do a review of it in a month or so. ☀️
Nice
Very nice
How many instances of VSTs did you run in total, in Logic when you put together the major music production you had in this video? Can you state the number of native vst effects, native vst instruments, 3rd party effects, and 3rd party instruments, and audio tracks please?
54 tracks total.
8x alchemy synths, each with Space Designer + Compressor
11x Space Designer reverbs
6x Chroma reverbs
5x Valhalla Supermassive (delay / reverb)
10x simultaneous audio tracks
9x samplers
1x Diva (now fully M1 compatible)
1x Zebra (now fully M1 compatible)
5x Vital Synths
1x Retro Synth
3x El-piano
33x Channel EQ
4x Overdrive / Dist / Guitar Amps
1x Silver reverb
I was just fooling around adding MUCH more stuff than I usually do. I would never layer this creazy with that lead melody (8x Alchemy tracks) it would just muddy up the lead sound and make things unclear in the mix.
Hope the info helps. Thanks Craig!
This is great! Thank you. This chip has a lot of punch to it. It will be interesting to see how the upcoming M1x (or whatever they call it) will perform. Maybe time to ditch the old Intel… lol
Oh yes the M1 tech is just mindblowing. A huge leap. Cant wait to demo the M1X! 🥳🍿
@@MattiasHolmgren i wonder if i should wait...just got apple credit..LOL
As the former speech holder said Your the Best Mattias! But we decided to go with the 2019 inch 8 gb model just in case we wanted or needed to run Windows 10 via Bootcamp (as it had the intel cpu still) We run Win10 in tandem with MacOS on dads iMac 5K i7 here in family though on 32 gig to not lack in case of 4K editing, and he wont have to loose it on Mac´s weird OS lol... ;)
Hehe thanks! Yeah better safe than sorry when it comes to. Bootcamping. 🌞
Oh I have a MacBook Air (memory 8GB- 13 inch) from late 2019.
Do you think Logic and other plugins will run more or less the same?
Logic if both faster and more responsive on an M1 than any previous gen Intel Mac. This new tech is a leap forward. I especially like the reduced heat. Its much cooler than prev gen. 🌞🥳
I have the 2019 inch model 8 gig. And i can tell you it wont have any problems as long as your not doing like Mathias say symphony orhestra arrangments or super advanced trace maby with maby 50 tracks or so. The 2019 even have 4 cores on the cheapest model which we got here as we didnt need anything more. Super happy with the 2019, and as i said in other comment it have the ability to also run Win10 if a need should arise. Other than that, probably even better of with the newer M1. If it HAS to be a Mac that is. Im not really a Mac guy, but the hardware & some of the software is good.
@@tredfxman thanks!
What type of music do you make?
You got nexus, serum or big plug ins
Just stopping by to say hi, hope you are well! I don't have opinions on Apple products hehe
