    Beautiful images Roger. I suspect that my wife and I were taking pictures of Buttermere that day. Magical light. Just lucky to be alive and there on a day like that.

      Thanks Christian. This trip was the first time I had filmed the `to camera` parts using an `action camera` rather than my other OM1. I had recently bought the DJI Action 4, and although its a great little camera, I think the skin tones are better when videoing with my OM1. It was the first time using it so maybe I had the setting wrong !

    Superb Scenery and Images Roger, I'll have to walk around Crummock again instead of Buttermere for a change, weather was beautiful, there is no better Camera to use in good light than a OM1or the OM5, the Images prove this time and again, best wishes, Colin.

      Thanks Colin. Thansk for the kind comment. The weather was beautiful. Buttermere is the more popular of the two lakes, and equally as photogenic.

    Excellent images and great job on describing how you achieve those quality shots . Looks like all the shots were with the evening light too ?

      Thanks for the kind comment John. Much appreciated. Yes, the shots were late in the afternoon. In November in the lakes, evening light is about 3.30pm /4.00pm.

    Beautiful work. The composition of the photographs is top-notch as usual. You have got the best out of OM-1. By the way, does your camera have built-in ND filters?

    • @rogerhance5883
      @rogerhance5883  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the kind comment Chandima. The OM1 does have built in ND filter. They are not `physical` filter, but electronic. Not sure how they work. All I know is they do. The OM1 goes up to EV64 (6 stops )

    I noticed that you didn’t try any 50/80Mb photos was there a reason for this.

    • @rogerhance5883
      @rogerhance5883  8 месяцев назад

      I very rarely use the 50/80Mb HiRes setting. If your printing pictures to A1 or A2 size, it would be worth doing. I very rarely print above A3, and for that size, HiRes mode is not really necessary. I may make a video in the future when I use it though.

    Roger do you prefer to use filters over the exposure bracketing on the OM-1?

    • @rogerhance5883
      @rogerhance5883  8 месяцев назад +1

      That`s a fair enough question Iain. Generally speaking, I prefer to try to get it right in one exposure if I can, but there are times when exposure bracketing is by far the best option. In this case, with the mountain in the background, I did consider using exposure bracketing, but I tried the grad filter first, and it seemed to work O.K. (if I had used a hard grad it would definately have not worked) I have been thinking of making a video of the pros and cons of grad filters vs exposure bracketing, so thank for prompting me to do so.

    • @Iain_M84
      @Iain_M84 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@rogerhance5883 great thanks Roger. I'm fairly new to photography and have heard some photographers mention you don't need to use filters as exposure bracketing is so good nowadays. With my beginner knowledge I'm just trying to understand if filters are worth the expense for the OM-1. A video would be great highlighting the nuisances.

    • @rogerhance5883
      @rogerhance5883  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@Iain_M84 To be honest Iain, there is a lot of truth in that. Some photographers only use exposure bracketing , and get stunning results. Look up Guy Edwards Photography. His results are stunning, and he does not use grad filters. On the OM1, using bracketed HDR exposure will virtually eliminate the need for graduated filters, and as you say, they are quite expensive. If your fairly new to photography, try blending the exposures in Lightroom using the HDR facilty on the OM1. I will be making a video in the new year highlighting the `pros and cons` of filter vs expoure blending.
