Hi Dr. Allen greetings from Lisbon, Portugal. I love Ur channel!
I'm struggling for a while on finding the right solution for me. I would be pleased to know Ur opinion.
I play Padel (tennis in closed court with glasse 😂) and I sweat/dehydrate a lot so i can't use glasses, cause they fog even with antifog.
With contacts I'm fine with the total1 (-1 D Myopia) on the left eye, but the biofinity toric Rx ( -4 regular astig.) get blurry after 20min.
There's other brands better for exercise, should I try rigid/hybrid or cirurgy?
I would appreciate a lot Ur guidance ❤.

Hello Dr. Alan, The last 3 months of 2023 is the worst time in my life as well. I had an ICL surgery in September, and I regret it a lot. I don’t blame the surgery itself, it is more about myself. I am kind of person who can not tolerate any kind of imperfections in my vision. If I don’t see 20/15 or 20/13 I feel bad about it. I am extremely dissatisfied with the outcome. First of all I had glares and halos at very dim light situations. This is because my pupils exceed the optical zone at extrem darkness. Although I don’t see them very often but it bothers me a lot when I see them. Besides that the toric lens in my right eye has rotated by 10 degrees, and it causes a 1.5 diopter of residual astigmatism. And I have 0.5 diopter of residual nearsightedness in my left eye. I was -7.5 with-2.5 astigmatism prior surgery, but I could see better than 20/15 with glasses. But now without glasses I only see 20/30 from each eye and 20/20 with both eyes. And I need glasses to see 20/15 again. And I have a lot of worries of potential complications. Although everything looks good and I don’t any complications or discomfort by far except the glares at darkness. Again I don’t blame the surgery, I just think that I am kind of person that has OCD with things that potentially damage eye or make my vision worse. Therefore it was really stupid that I decided to correct my vision with surgery. But now it is too late. I am not considering about removing the lens right now, but I would like to know, that if I don’t have complication by far, and if the removal went uneventful, would my long term eye health and best correctable visual acuity go back to the level prior surgery?

Thank you so much for this channel. And thank you for having the bravery to talk about your personal challenges.
I am so inspired by what you produce. Where did you get your mad video skills from? 😮
    Do you teach yourself?
Any tips for someone else who wants to work more with creating video content (but feels a bit intimidated)?

Damn you look seriously incredible dude! Freaking well done on the fitness work and keep it going! I don't have much else to share that other people haven't said but your channel has been greatly appreciated and I've learned a lot about eye care through it. Biggest thing personally was, as someone who stares at computer screens all day, Lutein supplements have really helped reduce eye strain. You're making a lot of direct impact on people's eyes.
Really happy you're undergoing all these changes, I'm pretty starving for big changes in my life and hope I can get them to happen this year but a lot of other factors are promoting stagnation, but this whole video was inspiring and hopeful. Wishing you and this audience the absolute best and happy New Year!

The value of your content is filling in the blanks and answering the questions that our doctors often don't take time to give us. I've learned so much more about my eye condition from you that I feel I have more choices in my treatment of it. For example my eye doctor did not tell me anything about MGD. All he said was get some over the counter eye drops. I kind of knew that he didn't mean visine but had no idea what type or what kinds of ingredients etc. After watching a lot of your content I was able to treat my MGD in the way I want to which includes daily dosing of Omega 3 oils and eyedrops with manuka honey in them. To me a natural alternative approach is the one I'm more likely stick with, as opposed to using chemicals in my eyes or doing invasive painful cleaning and warming protocols. Thank you so much for your generosity in giving us so much information to help ourselves. I really appreciate it. Looking forward to 2024.

Hey Dr. God bless you in this new year.
I’ve been binge watching your content the past 3 days since I’m doing research on which lenses I should get.
I’m between the transitions Xtractive polarized, xtractive, and the gen 8 signature.
Is the polarized version more clear than the xtractive non polarized?
Which would you recommend for everyday use? I’m in front of a lot of screens but not old LCDs.

Good morning Doc. Ironic you post this “rise of the Phoenix”. I’m a huge fan and also work in ophthalmology and have for 15 years. I just got home after spending weeks in ICU on life support. I had a ruptured intestine out of nowhere that less than 5% of people live from. Removal of almost 7 feet of intestine and Gods will…. I survived and am given a new life. To be at home catching up on your inspiration is an unreal thought!!!! Pain, change, challenge and life are ALL relevant in nature to the spirit that is fighting. You are so correct…. Time for something new… take each day like it means everything. Never ever take a breath for granted… go get em!

Don’t lose heart, be kind to yourself. You have accomplished so much, maybe now it’s time for you. I have learned more from you than any Dr I have seen over the course of coping with MGD, corneal ulcers, multiple chylazia excisions ( excuse spelling) etc. Be a beacon of light to yourself now.
