    I have been seeing an Opthalmologist for 25 years & just learned that a have AMD! I have learned more from you then I ever learned from my Dr! I have done my own research as have been told only eye drops help; well I have learned that I might have been able to Prevent AMD. I am so disappointed that Opthalmologist's are not more informative with their patients; my Opthalmologist retired a year ago + I am seeing a younger one, however, he has not been anymore helpful then the older one. thank you so much, you have educated me on what I can do & I feel I am doing better trying everything safe that I can with your guidance. I live in Canada. Recently a local Optometrist has advertised treatment for AMD called MacuMira. Have you heard of this treatment? If I lived in Minnesota, I would be calling you for an appointment. Keep up the amazing work on RUclips, you are making a difference!

    Thank you so much for this!
    Just one small comments:
    - sleep absolutely impacts my dry eye and how intense that “foreign body feeling”, blurred vision is. I travel a lot for work and feel my eyes way worse as soon as I sleep in a new environment or even if I sleep 1 hour less than usual. As soon as I’m home and back to the normal routine, the dry eye becomes manageable again.
    It is really nice to understand this is not just a coincidence I made up in my mind - it feels very validating. Thank you again!

    I’ve been suffering from dry eye for two years after lasik. Please do not get lasik it will ruin your life.
    Restasis has made my condition very manageable. The reason know this is because I ran out of my prescription for two weeks and my eyes got bad again.
    Heating eye pads nightly by OPTASE have helped in the past, but I do not do it as much as I should.
    Tried punctual plugs once, did absolutely nothing for me.
    So yeah, heat packs and restasis has been helpful for me so far. Don’t give up hope!

    Miebo convert here. I've been using it for a month and for the first time since April 2021 I've had zero staining when I got my dry eye check up. Dry eyes have been a problem off and on for years but in 2021 I developed an ulcer on my eye (work in healthcare and constant masking then). My journey from then to Miebo has included: lotemax, restasis, xiidar, cequa, tyrvana, punctal plugs, nightly ointment with protective goggles for sleep, autologous serum tears (4 rounds), amniotic serum drops, and two rounds of amniotic sac membranes placed on my corneas that finally healed them enough to wear scleral lenses. I'm hopeful that Miebo will continue to improve my eye health. First ray of hope in a ling time.

      @drpeggyhudson 5 месяцев назад +1

      This is so exciting to hear! 😊 I was just prescribed Miebo & it was approved by my insurance on Friday. Looking forward to starting it this week. Are you using any other prescription or OTC eye drops/treatments during the day or at night in addition to Miebo? I’ve been using Restasis & wonder if I should use Miebo in addition to Restasis. Or do you use any other eye drop right before using Miebo?
      I’m also going to ask my eye doctor about the scleral lenses in the future.
      Happy for you & hope the Miebo continues to work for you.

      Currently just using Miebo during the day with Optase hylo ointment at night (with dry eye goggles). I stopped Restasis when I started Miebo as directed by my doctor. Still doing fairly well. Awaiting my latest adjustment to the scleral lenses since the new ones didn't fit quite right.

      @@victorianovoselski4411 I'm a Miebo convert as well. After dealing with severe dry eyes for 35 years (due to Accutane), I'm finally hopeful. I liked Tyrvaya, but I started to get sinus headaches after being on it for 18 months. I've been on Miebo for four months. I've been off Tyrvaya for one month.
      Europe has EvoTears (same as Miebo) for $18/bottle and it is over the counter. Miebo was $834 at my local Walmart. I got a free bottle of Miebo from my doctor and my insurance approved Miebo, but since I learned Europe has it much cheaper, I'm now buying EvoTears from Europe. I'm in Houston, Texas.
      p.s. New Zealand has NovaTears (same as Miebo), but I was unable to order it online.

      I second the eye ointment suggestion. Muro 128 5% hypertonicity ointment (or a generic version) is what my eye doc recommends, and it is a miracle for me, as long as I actually use it EVERY night. Ask your eye doc about it if you think you might like to try it. It’s not an Rx, but it is very expensive, so if your doc doesn’t recommend it you should stick with the less expensive versions!

    • @SuziRider5D
      @SuziRider5D 8 месяцев назад

      Dry eyes are viral based, so any physical, chemical, or emotional stressor lowers the immune system and introduces toxins to the body for the virus to absorb, concentrate, and excrete, causing inflammation.
      Patent drugs and their fillers are semi-toxic synthetic chemicals NOT recognized by the liver (thus stored in the deep fats), so look for nature-based organic hormone sources, such as yams. 95% of soy is 'RoundUp-Ready' GMO, so avoid it and unfermented soy (tofu, etc).
      Also use anti-viral herbs and teas, such as Lemon Balm and Nettle Leaf, mixed with your favorites.
      Also remember Menopause symptoms are not based on female hormones. Men get hot flashes, too. They just call them Night Sweats & blame them on overwork and stress. They are from a dormant EBV (HHV-4) virus re-activating in the liver as the immune system weakens and fatigues. Hence some women getting them in their 30s and men getting them. Insulin Resistance (from inflammation in the liver), weight gain of 20-35 lbs, and pre-diabetes usually follows. Hence the weight issue in America. 50% of children and 99.9% of adults carry the toxin-excreting Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV).
      It underlies 102+ chronic diseases and cancers per the 2018 Cincinnati Hospital EBV study of it's DNA and transcriptions (RNA), with no 2 people having the EXACT same symptoms, since their toxin exposure and diets differ.
      Research doctors who sort sick people by symptoms instead of common underlying cause miss this completely.
      Viruses cause epigentic changes inside cells, so all the current genetic research for the 'genetic cause' of disease (like breast cancer) mostly just results in tests that tell people they have a viral infection and toxins deposits in the fat in their body.
      Universties that expose this lose millions of dollars of funding for doing genetic research. Many med school professors and grad students working on post-doctorates thus get fired and discredited if they go public. Many MD doctors seeing this happening to their friends & get fed up with not being able to cure their patients. They often quit their practice.
      Hence the many good doctors who are now 100% online, and most are DCs, NDs, TCM, Aturvedic, and other 'Alternate' types since MDs get their license threatened the allopathic medicine 'Western' Medical Industry.
      This may get fixed within the next 10 years, as thousands of medical doctor groups worldwide file lawsuits after the 2020-2022 fiasco and continuing censorship of their Papers, RUclips & FB postings, and outreach.
      Japanese doctors won't even publish their cancer and diabetes cures in English language journals, since many of those who try to seem to suddenly die shortly thereafter. Is it just coincidence? They don't care to find out.
      It will be interesting to see it all play out, and learn the truth.
      Meanwhile, see a holistically -trained doctors and nutritionists that can test your hair and blood for nutritional deficiencies and switch your patent Rx & OTC meds to the original nature-based ones they were derived from.
      In the old days, doctors only got paid AFTER they cured a person (or whole village) and it was affordable. Bad doctors (the 'quacks') were run off and good ones paid well so they would stay. It was a much better system.
      Nowadays we keep the bad and run off the good healers. That is unsustainable.

    Great video, good suggestions. Lyme disease and dry eye. Alpha-gal syndrome, ehrlichia chafeensis from the Lone Star tick. I didn't get dry eyes until a few years after I took much antibiotics for an unrelated problem. That's when the Lyme went ballistic. I was dumb and happy with Lyme, but the antibiotics ruined me. The Lyme spirochetes built biofilms, and my immune system tuned on me instead of the Lyme. Also, with regards to the collarettes, in the 70s my baby sitter had these h her red eyes- they raised Pekinese dogs. Had them all thru the house. Mites. There ya go.

    I’ve had dry eyes for almost 20 years. I’ve been on Restasis (hate it - it burns!), and Xiidra (better than Restasis, but still burns), and both at the same time (really bad dry eyes). My doctor put in plugs in my lower tear ducts, as drips would drain almost as soon as you put them in. She then put me on Lacricert (a tiny tube placed in the lower lid that dissolves. I like that, but can’t wear overnight, as my eyes are too dry. They discovered that my mybomium glands are mostly gone 😞 on one eye and 1/2 gone on the other. I also have a demodex mite issue (I had 2 in-office treatments where the lid was scrubbed with a tool and a tea tree oil solution. The second treatment caused a scratched cornea). Plus fibromyalgia. Then my doctor left the practice. I lost one of my plugs. The new dry eye specialist requested I start using an overnight eye ointment. I discovered that most over the counter overnight eye ointments contain lanolin (I’m allergic). Ended up with 2 major eye infections before we figured out the cause. My new specialist seems so ambivalent about replacing my missing plug. He did give me a trial of a prescription dry eye treatment, I cannot remember the name, it was new 2ish years ago and starts with an “S”. It seemed to help, but as I’m unemployed, there was no way I’d be able to afford it.
    I have found that taking 2,000 mgs of Omega 3s a day is helping. I also wash my eyes with Thera Tears Eye wash for dry eyes, and use Clearadex wipes. Lots of different eye gels (Dr looked at them and approved). I don’t have insurance so I can’t afford any of these new treatments coming out. I can’t even afford to see my eye doctor right now! We need affordable options so we don’t lose our sight, as I’m told that will be my future.

      Just so you know, many pharmaceutical companies have programs to help with the cost of your medication. We did that for my granddaughter since the medication was so high even with a copay. The program covered the ENTIRE cost of her ADHD medication! My daughter didn't have insurance, but they covered it even when she did, because the copay was high. Now it's generic and only $10 a month. Anyway, definitely check it out. You may be pleasantly surprised. Wishing you success!

    • @j5Kit
      @j5Kit 8 месяцев назад +4

      I also can’t use lanolin products and most night ointments are too thick and goop up. My eye dr. recommended Muro 128 and it’s better than anything I’ve tried for night time. You can buy a generic version of it, (CVS). Still a little pricey but the best for me. Ask your eye dr. if you can use it nightly. Mine allows it. The best day time drops I’ve found so far are Systane PF Complete. I can’t use anything with a gel in it. The gel sits on my lower lid and causes the skin to become red and irritated. I also use Restasis, a heated mask, and preservative free tears 6-8 times throughout the day. Tried plugs but had to have them removed, again the tears just sit on the duct and cause irritation. Lipiflow did nothing for me and it was expensive. I hope you can find relief.

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned on the channel before, and the stats for the treatment aren’t that amazing, but I was one of the lucky ones I guess. It’s more or less IPL and given how well I responded to it I’ll keep doing it and probably also invest in a red light/NIR panel or mask (because it genuinely felt amazing, not just for the eyes).

    The past few years I've struggled with pyogenic granulomas, unaware of the cause. I have been wearing contacts for over 20 years, but have had to resort to glasses to deal with these issues.
    A few months ago, I had a pyogenic granuloma surgically removed, as well as an upper eyelid chalazion drained. Blurred vision has been the main issue I've dealt with -- it comes and goes. I take plenty of algae based omega 3 supplements and eat hemp seeds/flax seeds daily for omegas, use a warm compress (rice in a new sock) nightly, and perform a q-tip eyelid massage I followed from your channel, as well as purchased an ocusoft lid scrub I use nightly as well. I've had clear vision on two separate random occasions since the procedure, however it keeps returning to a blur and my eyelid seems to be slightly red and puffy still.
    My eye doctor told me it could take 3 months for my vision to go back to normal after the eyelid procedure.
    Are there any tips or methods you recommend to help with blurred vision?!
    Thank you Dr. Allen!

    I purchased Hycosan from the UK. It’s another substitute for MIEBO. It works great and is about $25 with S/H

    I would love to try CBT-006 for my pingueculas. Can you keep us updated on treatments for this condition?

      @@BigBadFinstad Ok great. Did you know that only 5% of women who need/could be on hormones are receiving hormone supplements? So if you know, what are you doing about it? Women who receive replacement hormones maintain better health while they age.

    76 yo used punctal plugs for 6 months great response. Used drops rarely
    Last visit such improvement decided not to put in permanent plugs but to see how long the effects of having had the disposable plugs
    Have been without plugs no blurred vision from only using drops if symptoms return I will probably put in permanent not disposable.
    I understand not all people have such a good response to the disposable plugs as I did. So far so good

    I have myobian glad dropout in both eyes, 85% in one eye and 70% in the other. Tested negative for sjogrens. Doc said lipid flow and ipl will not work. I've been taking ciders for a couple of years and am excited to say that I am starting mieob today because I heard about it on your channel. I asked my doc about it and he said it will be too expensive and I said let me be the judge of that. I was pleasantly surprised that I have a $0 copayment through the company's coupon. They even helped with the prior authorization. Thank you!!!!

    I found Stye ointment put in lower lid and blink several times for really bad grit and burn. Then, Opcon-A for itchy
    allergy (cats). Also, wet wash cloth laid over eyes while sleeping.
