My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa. Paris (yes the one in France) has been my home for years now and I have every intention of staying here for as long as they'll have me. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlogged daily for 3+ years, and love pizza a little too much. Now I make videos about visiting Paris, traveling in Europe, and try to share what I've learned along the way. I hope you enjoyed what you found.

I've spent more time with you in the past week than I have with my wife. She's getting suspicious. We have to stop hanging out so much. Lunch next week 🤣?
We can't let those suspicions go unsubstantiated.
I happened to pause at 1:42 and got a good laugh at the tattoo on the guy who crossed in front of the camera.
😂 totally missed that
Yay! Putting this on my list of traditional French restaurants to try. Thanks for the tour
It's a fun one
👕🎁😊🗼I wish Jay that you can relaunch the T Shirts soon again, specially the Arc Du Triumph one is the Best Seller👕
Yes, I preordered the Eiffel Tower one and hopefully if it were to relaunch as a permanent item, I would buy the Arc du Triumph one as well!
happy weekend! waving from arizona!
You have such a sweet heart Jay. Stay true and be your best self, whatever : - ) xx
Thanks!
Yes! I went to bouillon pigalle after watching les frenchies…and the queue was long, waited almost an hour for underwhelming food and the staff were not attentive. Plus…those tables lmao never again Awful. ..
That was our worst meal, both for food and service. The waiter left after food was delivered and no one checked in to replace him. So weird. Food was underwhelming, however that was the first place we had escargot and that was the best thing we ate there 😂
Sweet jeeesus that steak, frites and dippin’ sauce 😍
😂
I tried a few of your recommendations last month. I enjoyed them all.
Glad you like them!
I miss steak frites and escargot in France. I know that sounds super basic, but it's so good!
Since I can't walk very well or do stairs at all, I wish there were more ground floor restrooms too. I know it's a space thing, but I hate having to stress about that...
I had Valentine's dinner with a party of 5 (random people I was seated next to) at the Bouillon Chartier Montparnasse then a lunch at Bouillon Pigalle with some University students. Also had lunch with a kind older gentleman at Bouillon Chartier Grands Boulevards. I was flying solo in Paris for over a month so I appreciated having others around me to talk with. And you can't beat the price! The one in Montparnasse is so beautiful!!! That one is my favorite although the line at Grands Boulevard was non-existent. It's a noble goal to put only fabulous mentions in your guide but can the Bouillon's at least get a dishonorable mention for single people low on funding (and expectations)? The food isn't bad and some of it was awesome. Beef Bourguignon was amazing, fish & chips not so much. Stew & rice was good but the rice was unexpected... must be a French thing? Duck Confit is a crap shoot - time of day, location, etc.
I miss Paris but love having coffee with you every day!
You could always add a "cheap eats" section
I hope that steak tasted as good as it looked. I really liked the look of that bistro 👍
It was great!

While the Louvre does have a four-hour Friday night tour, such tour opportunities should be expanded. This could be a huge benefit for art lovers weary of daytime mob scenes, and provide ample extra revenue to eliminate tiresome strikes over poor salaries. Art instructors and graduate students from the Sorbonne and other schools could be employed as cicerones. If Versailles can have line dancing in the Hall of Mirrors, the Louvre should talk to its marketing gurus.
Are you going to show us any of the Impressionist shows?
Jay, if you didn't take photos, take screenshots from your video.
Had the same steak at Bellanger once when I was around the area (ironically I tend to only eat at proper places when I'm on my own, with others we indulge the trashy places). It's a nice brasserie. I should go back there at some point. Was there anything else on the menu that looked good to you?
Also the boullions without a queue are ideal. A quick hop in/hop out sit down meal for not much more than fast food prices. If there's one trick with Pigalle at least it's take 1-2 people max and during off-peak hours. Line will be shorter and the smaller parties get to skip since larger groups need to wait for a whole table to clear up.
I need to try the tartare next time, I think
@@JaySwanson Maybe I'll go for this too.
@@JaySwanson Tried the tartare this weekend. I do recommend. It was great and it's served quickly too since it's a cold dish they have ready.
Of course I stumble upon this vid a week after making lunch reservations for Bouillon Pigalle. When you have reservations there, can you skip the line? I'll be in Paris for the first time in 3 weeks.
There were 2 lines, one for reservations and one for walk ins. They were equally as long 😊
I have to disagree on Braisserie Bellanger. It was the worst meal I had in Paris. I couldn’t even finish my steak. I think it might be a hit or miss joint.

Thanks for joining in!
oh le steack frites "mayonnaise" ... miam miam (onglet ou bavette ?) ; il a l'air délicieux ce déjeuner avec un bon vin rouge !!! j'en salive.
That's not mayonnaise... That's béarnaise 😉
@@domitiennegegou5967 Exact ! Merci, mais comme je ne me souvenais plus du nom de la sauce, j'ai donc écris le mot "mayonnaise" entre guillemets. La sauce béarnaise convient parfaitement avec un steak frites, ce petit goût d'estragon c'est ...... divin. 🙃
😀🌴🌴Aloha
hola

Have you considered putting any African restaurants in your guide? By the way, I was in Paris in the 17th in January, and I spoke to a guy and asked him if he was Jay Swanson, the youtuber.... "No."
ha - my Parisian doppelganger. I do have a couple of African restaurants in my guide, including my favorite Ethiopian resto. Some great stuff in Paris.
Sleep deprivation? We don’t know her 🌝
Love to hear you are wearing sunscreen! Thank you!
Gotta remember haha
