It really used to drive me crackers when Boris Johnson would say "I consider the matter closed", as if he and he alone got to decide, and nobody would challenge him. We're the "British people" they love to wank on about, and when it comes to our elected representatives WE'LL decide whether WE consider the matter "closed" or not.

Excellent work. I think we all know who this refers to ... this week, and I hope she does resign although wishful thinking on my part as current crop of cabinet ministers never resign and never apologise for any of their mistakes. So many to choose from now! From the politicians point of view, I remember years ago in Little Britain (I think) there was a sketch where David Walliams played a disgraced politician that would be interviewed at the end of his driveway whilst his family stood by him trying to look supportive. Matt Lucas would usually play his wife which made it all the more amusing to watch
It is particularly appropriate in that case but I see it as being rather generic too!

Even compared to your usual standards this is superb. Very funny and also sums up how desperately tired we are of their antics - the path to ignominy is exactly as you describe and they could often avoid it if they just told the truth at the start and apologised. But they don’t. And here we are. Yet again.

Timely and concise, “I refer to the the sketch I made earlier”, standard P.M. practice in Parliament.
This is just tory leadership, the rest of the world is in awe of the work they're doing, quite unbelievable. I routinely look at political news from the UK and say to myself "I never would have thought they'd sink this low", which just goes to show what monumental effort they are putting into their jobs.
