    The Challenger makes me wonder why anyone would blow money on an HD. It's superior in a majority of categories. With HD, you're 100% paying for the name

    • @Anton_G_604
      @Anton_G_604 2 года назад +8

      With HD, there is a massive aftermarket, almost complete rebuild-ability and value retention over time. The only issue is can Indian sell enough of these. Competing in the same space is great, but is it worth switching for something that doesn't have good aftermarket support or a dealer network? Almost all Indians look better than HDs on paper, but so did Victory. From experience of owning and riding both HDs and Indians, HDs feel more solid and substantial. My Road King Special handles incredibly well for a touring bike and leans more than the Low Rider S. Where Indians shine is how they carry their weight and that extra bit of power from the 108. I personally prefer an air cooled big twin from Harley, but I will never rule out Indians. With right machines and right marketing will continue to push HD.

      @@semperfipar1299 I don't disagree. Parts and service will be an issue over time though. I seriously considered buying a Victory but didn't because of lack of parts and service where I live. Victories are truly amazing bikes. I still think Polaris made a huge mistake by canceling the line.

      @@Anton_G_604 You can still order any factory parts from Polaris and I do my own wrenching so service is not a problem for me. If it is stock then there is no service required other than oil changes and tire changes. Most bike shops can repair and replace parts.

    OMG. I'm only 5 minutes into the video, and I'm in shock at how many amazing features this Indian Pursuit has.
    This is by far the coolest V-Twin long distance touring bike I've ever seen. Looking at all the features, this bike is really in a class of its own for fully dressed classic "bagger" cruisers.
    They literally made the bike more powerful and better in every single way, and didn't cut a single corner. This is a proper build.
    This bike should do for Indian, what the Harley Pan America did for Harley. This Indian Pursuit is simply the best classic bagger out on the market today.
    They managed to create something that is visually stunning, modern, and yet "classic." It feels like an impossible achievement.

    When I look at the HD line up this is what I wanted to see. Once again HD is being outclassed by a competitor that is offering more for the money. I just wish it was from a company that didn’t have a history of leaving its customers high and dry without notice. Indian pulled out of two nearby dealerships without a word taking their authorized service with them. Now the only place left to get warranty work is two hours away.

    • @MrEiniweini
      @MrEiniweini 2 года назад +3

      It is a shame you feel that way overall. The Sportster S and Pan America are internationally competitive and do outclass Indian with those bikes. From Australia the price of the Indian Scout can't be justified against the Sportster S (an 18% saving on the Scout with simple ABS compared to the tech package and 20% added power on the HD?). I admit that the FTR Carbon is a great bike that is the near paper equivalent of the Sportster S, but they are a different ride style so although the specs match they don't closely compete in the market. The Pan America is competitive with high end ADV tourers across the category. Having said that, I would buy the Challenger over the Road Glide on any given day. I bought the Sportster S on spec two days after the announcement (after a year of looking at the Scout and Rebel- I had settled on the Rebel) but would still buy the Challenger over the Road Glide. HD is on the right path but I think the heavy tourers will need to up the engine to at least 1700cc before release. I actually see a return of the discontinued Sport Glide with the 1250 Rev Max as a light tourer first. I think it will be before November and that will knock Indian back a bit. I fully expected Indian to capitalise on the Powerplus with naked cruisers by now. They left a huge hole for HD to beat them to the punch.

    For me, the power difference between my RG Limited and the Challenger is a non issue since a stage 2 on my bike would equal out to Indian’s power plant. I I came from an FTR and parts of me do miss every bit of it and loads of me is attracted to the Challenger. I almost bought the Challenger instead of the RG Limited.
    What makes me the most jealous of the Pursuit is the suspension and braking. It’s a MASSIVE cost to put that level of suspension and braking on my RG. The cheapest direct bolt on inverted front suspension is 4 grand and to upgrade to radially mounted brakes would be another ~$1,600.
    Basically, a ~$2,000 stage 2, ~$5,500 suspension upgrade, and a ~$1,600 brake upgrade to get the same kind of things the Pursuit has stock. It also doesn’t help that since November, I’ve had to get 3 warranty repairs done on my RG over 5 different trips to the dealer, and 2 weeks total of being in the shop.
    If this continues, I’ll be VERY tempted to lemon law my RG, get the money I invested back, and go back to Indian.

    • @glickmpb
      @glickmpb 2 года назад +2

      The point is that you would have to put in a stage 2 and the Indian already has it. One of the biggest Achilles heels with a Harley is that they have always been underpowered. Just about every other brand out there puts out more power for approximately the same money, but the Harley argument has always been that, "Ill put a stage 2 or 3 in it" without even thinking about how much it will cost to do so. Many guys even say, "I do it myself and will save a ton of cash", which is comical to me.
      Harley should be using dual front disc brakes as standard and Its mind boggling that they dont. Electronic suspension? Not on a Harley... "Lets spend x more thousands to fix the suspension..."
      I have had MANY new bikes and the Harleys were the only bikes IU have ever had problems with. I just picked up a 2019 Fat Boy 114 and so far so good. However, no bike is perfect but this one suits my needs.

    Can the ABS be turned off, like i could do on my moto guzzi norge. so I would actually have conventional breaking on the unexpected snow squall, or which happened to me, a downhill gravel covered road on my BMW K 1200 LT. When I tapped the brakes to maintain my descent on that gravel road, to my surprise, I had no brakes front or rear. For about 200 feet of descent on that gravel covered steep road, I was picking up speed on my almost 900 pound BMW with a 90° corner I was not going to be able to make at the bottom of the hill… I was very lucky that about 20 feet into the grass straightahead at the bottom of the hill was a cyclone fence around a salvage yard. I ran into that fence with my front wheel of my BMW to stop. The only damage I sustained was a broken front fender. I got rid of that bike immediately after that and bought the Moto Guzzi Norge because it had ABS that could be turned off in that situation.
    personally after more than five decades behind bars, six road racing championships, two National championships road racing, tire test rider for continental,108 motorcycles so far, I think ABS brakes are for idiots, beginners, to give them a False sense of security… better training and stricter testing to get the license would be a better solution than ABS brakes on vehicles with a single front wheel..
    In my experience, I have found that the letters ABS Stand for, all breaking stops.. Think about it. You’re in the rain, a deer runs out in front of you, I have hit two of them while riding my motorcycles, but you nailed the brakes instinctively, and the brakes don’t work because they detect a little bit of wheel slippage..
    let’s say you have a motorcycle like a V Strom 1000, and you are doing some back road traveling on dirt and gravel roads. You have ABS brakes, you’re going down a muddy back road dissent. You touch the brakes, the ABS detects that the surface is somewhat slippery, and rather than you being able to modulate and compensate for a little bit of slippage, you have no breaks at all..
    I had a Suzuki V Strom 1000, it did not have ABS. I wanted to buy a new one, but it had ABS that could not be turned off. So I passed on that machine.. I would have bought that machine, and I wanted to see if the ABS system could be disarmed for off-road riding

    Unhappy with the seat and the reduced luggage capacity.
    I been a goldwing rider since high school 1980.
    I rode harleys during the era of golwing 1500 as I worked for the company. I then returned to the 1800 and rode it for 12 years.
    I thought I would up grade to a new 2021. While it is a great machine and handles way better than previous model, it mean next to nothing to me when all I want to do is pull over and rest my bum.

    Its the bike harley should of made long ago instead of v rod.
    I am going to ride this pursuit.

    American icon, liquid cooled, infotainment and decent luggage capacity. It cant be any less comfortable than goldwing.

    Here's a brief clip by the Indian channel of the "Power Plus" 108 cubic engine. Why they use cubic inches, I'll never know, since nobody ever uses "Cubic Inches" unless they are a dedicated, life long Harley rider. The reason I'm posting this is because this is a Mandela Effect for me. I've never heard of this. I've watched videos and reviews on all Indian motorcycles for years and years, and today is the very first time I've heard of this "Power Plus," 122 HP 128 Ft. Lbs torque, engine. I am really dumbfounded, because this engine has apparently been around for a couple years at least. It's my favorite Indian engine by far. ruclips.net/video/9EGFk7RybH0/видео.html

    Est 1903, not. Indian has been in and out of business more times than I can recall.
    Polaris revived Indian in 2011, in the meantime their Victory line went out of business.
    The Indian has some of the line's of the defunct Victory.
    Polaris is owed by a Canadian Corp.
    American?

    Different perspective here. I am from the school where more products from the leading American Motorcycle company is good for us and the competition. I love the new Indian Pursuit. Not ecstatic about the name but the bike, options, and color selections are wayyyyyyy better then HD Road Glide Limited and the 2022 Road Glide CVO--which by the way does NOT include a trunk….and the Pursuit is less pricey than the CVO. I will surely be waiting for them to drop at the dealer….my 21 Challenger may be for sale….who knows. YOLOnce.

    When, oh freaking when is Polaris going to update the top case for their motorcycles.
    Come on, On Road Team, I know some of you are sick and tired of that top case. At least change up the look if nothing else. Have Industrial Design in Medina do something about it. Please.

    I forgot to add that I like the fork mounted faing bike as well and feel that Indian should offer the liquid cooled engine here as well along side the Thunderstroke.
    I would likely buy it over the pursuit as I rode many hd classics.
    I will take H2o allday everyday.

      I own 2 Harleys, you’re fooling yourself. Go test ride one like I have (Challenger, stock). The Stock Challenger blows the fairing off of my 21 SG Special 114 with S&S Cam and 2 into 1 pro pipe dyno’d. Seriously, stop hating

      @@likebikes302 I have rode 2 Challegers and not disputing they are quicker than my 2019 RGS, its just the way the figures are quoted here are not at the same place.
      Check online, most stock challengers put out 108 on the dyno where as a stock 114 RGS is 86. So not a hater, just disagreeing with this RUclips giving misleading information

    Rented a Challenger and hated it.
    It was like riding a Crack head. Twitchy and hard to control.
    Glad to hear they have tuned the Pursuit for slower speed work.
    Rented a Roadmaster for a trip from Ft. Meyers to Key West...fabulous bike easy to ride and control. Blew the Harley Ultra out of the water.
    I have Rented a BMW Grand America and loved, loved that bike. You can do 12 hours on that bike and wish you didn't need to stop and sleep.
    I have sadly not been able to rent a Gold Wing.

      I'm split between the Roadmaster and the Grand America, seeing the Pursuit makes me wish the Roadmaster had this motor...what do you choose?

    • @clroger4
      @clroger4 2 года назад

      @thestcroixkid tough choice, love them both.
      Love the Roadmaster big twin style and ease of use.
      But that Grand America with it's clutchless shift was so fast and so smooth, it lacked an exhaust note, So it had little personality.
      One of each?
