  • Koei released a unique warring states historical turn based RPG in the early 90's called Inindo: Way of the Ninja on the Super Famicom and Super Nintendo. In addition to RPG staples like turn based combat and exploration the game included strategy war minigames, espionage mechanics, and a real sense of history with gameplay altering events taking place while the player journeys across Japan.

Wow, this is exactly the kind of video game review/informational I love most. No padding, no filler, just straight info, while still being entertaining instead of dry. Excellent work!

As someone has has actually played it, what would your takeaways be for a modern remake?

This is the first time I've heard anyone but myself talk about Inindo. The game became something of an obsession of mine for how innovative and ahead of the curve it was only to get forgotten, probably because it was very mediocre underneath it's extremely cool ideas. Funnily enough, the thing that spurred my most recent obsession with the game was Wandering Sword as well.

I feel like this game is underrated because the graphics aren’t as advanced as the stand out rpgs on the snes

That's a curious win condition. Nobunaga died to suicide in 1582 after he lost a disastrous battle, i guess in this version he doesnt lose and goes on to continue the conquest that Hideyoshi took over from him?
