I LOVED 7th Dragon III Code VFD! I bought it on a whim and instantly fell in love with the battle system and the soundtrack. I really think we in the west missed out on a great series and hope Sega brings this and more over.
We finally got an Etrian 1-3 Collection, we got an Yggdra Union remaster, hopefully one day we'll see a 7th Dragon Collection for Steam and Switch(2?).
Yuzo Koshiro also Composed all of the Etrian Odyssey series musics. He is the sole reason i discovered 7th Dragon series. Man, i wish Sega would release 7th dragon remastered collection like they did with Etrian Odyssey.
I played the DS game and 2020-II. 250 dragons to kill is too much in 2020-II, which shows you how ridiculous having to kill 666 dragons is if you want to complete the post game in DS. The repetitive dragon grinding really kills the games. The sidequests are fine, but mostly yield useless rewards. Aside from the skill points issue in DS, it has an absurd encounter rate and stepping on bloom demolishes your health. Interestingly, if you complete a string of sidequests regarding an annoying love struck dude, you learn about a character creation code that gives you items to eliminate enemy encounters (I think only Mage and Healer can equip it, but you should have a Mage anyways) and take no damage from bloom (anyone can equip that). So yo u could mitigate those problems from the start, or just use a patch that reduces encounters and bloom damage. 2020-II is better, but still has the same dragon grinding problem. It starts to get really bad in Chapter 4. Also, I feel the classes are really imbalanced. Hacker sucks, Samurai is mid, Idol has good ideas but is poorly implemented. Feels like Destroyer/Trickster/Mage is the obvious best party. But I do like the format of having a central "Hub" that slowly gets rebuilt throughout the game. The post game sucks, I stopped playing partway through. Take out the dragon grinding and they would have been better.
Thank you for watching!
I loved all of the 7th Dragon games, but Code: VFD is my favorite for its story.

Probably couldn't keep making 7th Dragon 2020 games as sci-fi considering it's now halfway through the decade almost.
