Other than being very expensive, I find crocodile/alligator straps rather tacky. Plus, wearing exotic leathers is like wearing real fur, those animals are bred and killed almost exclusively to feed the fashion industry, whilst 'regular' leather is mostly a by-product of the food industry. Cheers!

I may be committing an unwritten watch foul: with my NATO straps, I cut them to fit by using a penny to trace a curve; then I trim them with scissors & burn the edges...

      @cuauhtemocmorisco3493 4 года назад +13

I had never heard about this and i have nato straps but im used to tucking the extra length inside so it feels natural to me. Id be wasting money if i messed with my straps and the fit didn't turn out well.

I hear what you’re saying about the authenticity of the elasticated NDC versus the Erika’s Original “homage” but the extensive choice of colours, lug widths, buckle finish choice and crucially, the fact that Erika’s tailor the band to your wrist size is a huge plus point in their favour for me. And they’ll add a flag of choice too, if that’s your thing!

3:44 the crafter blue with its "vulcanized" rubber is way too stiff to be comfortable imho. I own a CB10 and I don't even wear it because of how stiff and uncomfortable it is. I guess the rubber strap on the Oris aquis just completely spoiled me because that's a true rubber strap done right. The difference in comfort is night and day. Like a full 180. The comfort level of this strap compared to the aquis rubber strap is probably a mere 1/128 of the comfort.

A month or so back this channel introduced me to the Seiko Alpiniste, which I managed to pick up at a good price - leaving me sufficient funds to invest in a better strap (as mentioned in TGV's review, the factory-supplied strap is not that great). A few weeks later and Colareb straps were featured in one of the Urban Gentry videos, and one of their Sienna straps now resides on the Seiko. The difference is incredible and really has transformed both how I feel about the watch and the amount of pleasure I get from wearing it - so once again, many thanks for the recommendations.

Love the video. I've been wearing NATO straps for years, and recently got into MNs. Just in case you didn't know, Erika's Originals offers a "vintage" series of straps that is also claimed to be made from rolls of NOS Marine Nationale elastic webbing, both yellow stripe and red stripe variant. I have one each of their newly-made "Original" straps and NOS "Vintage" straps, and it's easy enough to tell that the weave pattern and even the coloration are slightly different, so I believe the Vintage is truly military surplus material. Decent enough excuse to get another watch and an NDC strap to go with it in order to compare and contrast!

Apparently a little late to the party, but my go to NATO-style straps are Chevron and Supreme NATOs from Crown and Buckle and straps from Haveston. The Chevrons are similar to perlons and NATOs from both companies have single pass options, which I adore so as to minimize the addition of thickness to the watch.

I used to only wear my watches on the original bracelets. Then after I found your channel a few years ago I bought a bond (the incorrect black and grey) NATO strap for one of my divers, then I bought a dark brown crocodile strap for my gold Seiko day/date to tone down the bling a bit, now I have all kinds of NATO's, crocodile, leather, and rubber straps. When I get a new watch the first thing I do is try a bunch of different straps on it. I even have bought a bunch of tools (case back, rolex case back, hand pusher/puller, press, vise,). My girlfriend says I have an addiction.
I got my Vintage Tag Heuer 2000 the other day on a OEM rubber strap that was well worn, in the 3 days I've had it, it's been on 4 different straps. Found a nice brown leather rough grain strap with a stainless brushed buckle that matches the case perfectly. WK1112-0 silver dial. It's sharp. Cheers!

This video was absolutely enjoyable, thank you! One can never have enough straps! My favourite source for NATO straps is cheapestnatostraps (best bang for buck imho), but I also buy at Watchgecko from London, UK, or Wristcandywatchclub (I love their red Seiko Monster Nato!).

This was an awesome video! I tried the NDC Strap and much prefer the more expensive parachute stretch material (more expensive), and the ColarReb one as well (rugged and really compliments the watch) - both look nice on my Explorer 2 16570. I did not love the Wrist Candy Watch Club strap as it felt a bit cheap. The Hadley Roma one too was not my favourite - felt a bit stiff and uncomfortable.

I ordered some NATOs from Wrist Candy Watch Club, actually kudos to your design, most of the NATOs I purchased were colorways designed by you, TGV! I was somewhat surprised that you didn't mention WCWC NATOs here in this video since you did design those, but I suppose here you are preferring the real McCoy providence of the Phoenix NATOs. But I really like your NATO designs, especially the SOE and El Alamein!

I’m gonna take the heat and vouch for Archer Watch Straps.
This Amazon-Dwelling brand makes affordable, get-the-job-done, NATO straps. They’re decent quality, and priced well enough that 1 will last you quite a few years.

I'm saving up for a SARB035 and the Reindeer strap with cream stitching from FinWatchStraps looks really tempting... Not cheap, but handmade and without branding on it (which I prefer). Has anyone tried a FinWatchStrap... strap?

I have a huge problem... a 16.5cm wrist. Sometimes normal straps are too long. Fortunately I live in Italy, where you can find the best crafters in the world. I'd like to suggest a friend: "2D straps". You can order completely personalized straps: materials, colors, size... Extremely high quality and really good price

I purchased 2 leather straps from Crown and Buckle's Black Label collection for $95 each. DO NOT RECOMMEND. These straps are the thinnest and shortest straps I have ever seen. Very overpriced and disappointing.
I like BluShark straps for their Natos, but they NEVER seem to have anything in stock. They have been out of the basic James Bond strap for over a year now.

The NDC was a much better match for the Flighty (21 mm!) which is a too modern watch for the WWII style RIOS strap. But a diver strap on a pilot watch is not the real thing either...
I have several MN straps from Erika and they are very good, very well designed and very comfortable even in combination with very heavy watches. The problem with them is not the quality but that they are ridiculously overpriced.

I'm looking for a reasonably priced 21mm rubber strap for my Omega 300 coaxial. No helium escape valve, no date. Looks like the Spector watch. The bracelet is nice, but im a sailor, and it's taking a beating. Like the crafter blue, because of the curve at the lugs, but I'd like to see some options. Thanks

Hi. I have the recent Tag Monaco Gulf edition. I want to keep the original strap and clasp as new but I'm struggling to find a good quality, reasonably priced strap (or bracelet) to match nicely with the strong colourway of the Gulf. Any recommendations?

One question regarding the Colareb! Looks like you have it on the last hole there, does that fit perfectly? Your wrist is 6.25inch as far as I remember, right? Thanks heaps in advance.
