She’s a beast, isn’t she? Chinchilla is exactly what I think all girls need as a role model growing up. This is pure girl power! If she doesn’t get as famous as people like Adele and Beyoncé, there is something deeply wrong with the world. Also yes, you have identified the one problem as a reactor diving into the Ren and friends rabbit hole 😂 We won’t mind if you bombard us with reactions so you have more songs to put on your playlist though 😉🤣
I think she is NOT as famous, true, and THATS what has honed her own uniqness and individuality. The fame changes them. Chinchilla is famous to those who seek, alighnment musically with humanity, freedom, un sheepishness, self awareness, heart, mind, soul life.
There is a weird thing going on with Ren …. Everyone he works with is freaking awesome, like Everyone! It’s crazy. The Renaverse is packed with talent. ✌️❤️
Chinchilla is a powerhouse - not just as a vocalist, but a creative artist. I liked your description of artistic fluency. She has so many tools in her toolkit, from the warmth of her tone to the intense belting. I would recommend another live performance video for 1:5. Her vocals are insane! But it’s also a really powerful song.
Ren and Chinchilla "How to be Me" (Live version!), Ren "Back on 77/Message in a Bottle (live retake)", Chinchilla "Little Girl Gone" and "1:5 Live". These really showcase their voices.
Those goosebumps are usually called... The ChinChills :) Love your reactions, brother, keep em coming. I can't wait for you to stumble upon the Tales (Jenny&Screech trilogy), this one will knock you off your feet for sure
Oh em geeeeeee so glad you’re diving deeper into Chinny’s catalog she’s also beyond incredible. Can’t wait until you find your way to Sam Tompkins and Ren together ❤❤
Great review. If you want to see her vocal props in another duet with Ren then I would suggest “How To Be Me”(live) - on her own, “1:5” would be a good choice 👍
Adele level performance. Very real and refreshing compared to most of the posers in the mainstream music industry. Ren and Chinchilla give me hope for the future of music.
Yes it gives us hope! If nothing else, we have these few artists with almost un limited amount of songs and new ones are coming. I don’t care if the rest of the industry catches up. I’m good with what we have discovered becasue id Ren
I don't know if anyone has pointed out that the chorus staccato is ten syllables, like each finger that's cut. It really emphasizes each one and makes it visceral.
"Little Girl Gone" was her "breakout" song last year, and "Elements" is a brilliant performance from a few years back. But really, you can't go wrong with Chinchilla.

Gosh, I'd forgotten about that. Must go listen to it again. I loved it! I got into listening to Sick Boi album again, and drifted away from the some of the more recent live stuff! Thanks for the reminder!
For your own viewing you might enjoy Chinchilla interview Chris Liepe where she discusses how she met Ren and their collab on 'Chalk Outlines'. Also she's done a chat with 'The Fairy Voice Mother' where they listen to 'Fingers' together.
Check out Ren and Sam Tompkins songs together so that you can check out another of Ren's friends who is amazing. I was lucky enough to see Chinchilla and Ren perform last month at Secret Garden Party Festival. They are both amazing performers!
Chinchilla has said that one of her inspirations is Aretha Franklin, so your reflection that there's some R&B in her tone is spot-on. She also said that the last line of the song in this performance, "Keep your keys in your knuckles like I have to," is something that she came up with just as she and the piano player were rehearsing for this performance - that lyric doesn't show up in other recordings, and it's amazing. Love the reactions, thank you for saving them to share with us!
You should do Ren & Chinchilla busking session. Ren cut his teeth busking. She had never busked before. So drunk in live song. You can see she nervous. But do Sexual healing Marvin Gaye cover. It’s my favorite Ren & chinchilla moment!! Her belting even makes Ren laugh in the mic. Because it’s so good!!
The great thing about Ren is the quality of the artists he works with. You must see Sam Tompkins - Loose it all (live), Ren met him busking (street performing) when Sam was just 16, I guarantee along with Chinchilla, Sam is another fantastic rabbit hole.
Gives me goosebumps every single time!! So happy you decided to check out Chinchilla as well as Ren. I would pretty much say the only male and female singers of today (post 90’s) that have my full attention every time . Love them. Yep the Lyrics!! ❤
Its so much fun seeing you connect so viscerally with Chinchilla's STUNNING performance here. Its long been a favourite of mine, and I had the distinct privilege of not only seeing her perform live recently but meeting her too. She's astonishing, and your time would be well spent getting to know her better.
Dude, I am really glad you are loving these two siblings. Totally dig your breakdowns. And I like the way you went through once, and back through for the breakdown. I think you should do you in that regard, but your voice and insight are great. You are way more controlled than me though, I wouldn't be able to not dig into the back catalog. Looking forward to your next breakdown. Chinchilla- "1:5" for another live one. Ren "back on 74, message in a bottle " Good luck with your work life balance.
💙💙💙🔥🔥🔥 Chinchilla is such a unique artist in so many ways. what blows my mind is Chinchilla has 2.2 million Spotify listeners and she's done a live performance sponsored by TikTok (her song Little Girl Gone went viral on TikTok) but it doesn't translate to her yt channel.
Agree, Chinchilla's music has also been featured on TV programmes and sports events, but again feed through to YT has been slow. It might be a TikTok effect of abstracting the artist from their art, given there are over a billion videos using Little Girl Gone now may have resulted in people associating her song with the platform rather than the artist. I wonder if the mass discovery moment may come from Chinny performing a role in a TV/stream series or even creating a stage show (given Chinny's stage/acting heritage).
@@AllRandomOutcomesI was hoping that we would see a spike in attention on Chinny when she did that Fleetwood Mac cover lately for some movie that's going to be on Prime, I think, but I think I only saw 1 reactor react to it in total. Fingers crossed that her new stuff with Ren for his new upcoming album, Slaughterhouse, will get more attention on her again, especially with Ren still steadily growing his platform. Black Pegasus has a members only reaction to Hi Ren and his guest reactor is Krizz Kaliko (Tech N9ne's right hand man) and the last time BP had Krizz doing reactions with him was when they watched FIR's Watch the World Burn video - that reaction was a catalyst for FIR to have Tech N9ne ft on their song, "Ronald!"💙💙💙🔥🔥🔥
Thanks once again for your experience. You really must be a superb teacher, because you have such passion for the craft, and you obviously know how to talk about what you are seeing and hearing. As a for Chinchilla, she's just unbelievable. A superstar in the making. And she makes most of her outfits and hats too btw. So her creativity is also off the chain.😂
This is such a powerful song - I knew you would love it. Chinchilla's latest 1:5 (live) is another powerhouse one. If you want another rabbit hole to go down check out Blind Eyed by Ren and Sam Tompkins (Sam is another UK artist that has an amazing voice) - the version on the MC Sessions page is my favorite version, but any live version is good (though watch the Angry Car Park attendant version after you watch a 'real' version!).
Yes!! So glad you gave this one a listen. It’s incredible , even after I’ve listened to it a hundred times . This reminds me of 1990’s Tori Amos . You mentioned almost theatrical . Tori Amos personifies that very sentiment. Such a strong performer that oozes emotion. Chinchilla has that same moxi . Cheers and I look forward to the next ones 🍻🇨🇦
Sadly I am not a singer although I would have loved to have been. I really enjoy listening to and learning from your reactions. @@TimWelchVocalStudio - The full audition segment is available on The Voice Global YT channel. The cover song is a re-take where Chinchilla introduced her own lyrics that play around with the meaning behind of the original song. Chinchilla decided to do the voice in 2022, as part of her plan to get back into the music industry after a bad covid/post-covid related experience with her previous management and label. The Voice show's airing was delayed over a year and didn't air till November last year, which caused a lot of confusion as Chinchilla had already virally blown up by then on TikTok with her song Little Girl Gone (which is now an intro staple in the sporting world and has been used as dramatic scene setting in TV shows).
Hey Tim, found your channel via your Hi-Ren reaction (can't ever get enough of those) and as someone who likes to sing (but has a voice that would shatter the hearing of anyone that listens, and not in a good way) I love your breakdowns of how they are making the sounds rather than just describing it. One thing to note, I've noticed your videos have not had in your description, a link to the original artists music/youtube channels. I think that including this helps your subs (got a new one here) find the original music and also pays respects to the artists whose music you are using for your channel.
I, like a lot of Renegades, watch a LOT of reactors. You have swiftly hit my top 5. You have an awesome mixture of technical knowledge and genuine enjoyment and wonder. Very balanced. And I'm actually learning a thing it two along the way. I wasn't gifted with vocal talent, but it's always been fascinating to me. You explain things very well. Very balanced. And fun fact: Frission (goosebumps, chills) doesn't happen to everyone. Between 50 and 80 percent of people do experience it, depending who you ask. I always thought it was just a thing that happened to everyone. I am going to recommend a personal favorite. The Big Push, What Kind of Woman is This?. It's a Lead Belly cover. Romain, Ren, and Gorran all shine. There are so many that you'll hear, and they are all brilliant. This one is just a favorite. Please keep it up! You're doing a great job.
Thank you for waiting to listen with us. It’s worth the wait, promise. Ren and Chinchilla are both so real they hit the ear and heart in ways most singers don’t these days. Watching your reactions to them is fun because we can see they hit the same spots in you.
I'm so glad you reacted to this. She deserves all the love in the world. Chinchilla does not miss. Speaking of artistic fluency you're going to love the LIVE version of Little Girl Gone.
Brilliant reaction thank you! I understand the issue with wanting to give genuine first reactions versus really wanting to dive into the rabbit-hole (or Chinchilla-hole) to hear the songs. It's super exciting that you and your students are exploring these artists... I would LOVE to hear you and your students performing some of this work!
I spend most of my free time watching reactions to Ren and Chinchilla videos. I'm so excited when I find a new one! The Renegade community is the BEST. For Chinchilla, I like to say she gives me the "Chin-chills." They're both just otherworldly talented.
Have you heard about Dimash Kudaibergen? I wonder what you have to say about him. He's considered to be the best singer in the world and this century right now. No male or female can match his voice. He's versatile, sings many genres and in like 16 languages. He's from Kazakhstan. The song I will suggest is Dimash SOS the digital show 2021 during the pandemic. Your jaw will hit the floor. He has a vocal range of 7.7 and whistle tone up to D8 the dog whistle sound. Best regards from Norway 🇳🇴
How to be me (live)!!!!! Love the reactions. I've watched hundreds of Ren and Chinchilla reactions, and I could watch hundreds more. Love seeing people experience these for the first rime.
I loved watching your face during your first listen to this absolutely delightful song. The joy, empathy, and pure pleasure was expressed wordlessly. You made me smile so very much. I know what you mean about goosebumps. It happens quite often with Ren and Chinchilla. If you haven't reacted to Chinchilla's Little Girl Gone, you should really check it out. You mentioned that this song is a great expression of reclaiming your empowerment back. Little Girl Gone is a lot like this, but getting close to being a war cry. Amazing song. You're a wonderful reactor and I am happy that you have found the RENegade community. Off subject, I have to say that you remind me so much of a younger Christopher Sarandon. It's your voice, your eloquent way of speech, and even your appearance. I really enjoy watching your videos. I look forward to seeing more of your videos in the future. ❤
First time on your channel, ADORED your reaction to Chinchilla! She’s just amazing! Welcome to the Chili Beans! 1:5 Live is the next one you should react to, it’s sooooo good!! Subscribed!
Love Chinchilla, and despite the Sweeney Todd vibes she’s giving off in this performance, I have found her to be sweet, funny and very down to Earth in interviews. What an incredible talent. Art! ❤️🔥😊❤️🔥
This is why I really enjoy this channel, you actually allow yourself to feel the music, and have some interesting insights about the techniques. I would love to hear your analysis of a Ren-recommended song: "Asaf Avidan - In a Box III - 900 Days". Its *astoundingly* good, and his voice is distinctly unique. 🙏🏻
I’ve heard him once, I did have a student bringing in one of his songs and it was beyond amazing. An interesting vocalist, he’s definitely on the list.
@@TimWelchVocalStudio all the more reason to bring "In a Box III - 900 Days" to the channel! I'm genuinely interested in an analysis like you did with this one!
Yeeeessss!!! I loved learning about her vocal technique from you! Check out her and Ren’s How to Be Me Live (has to be live) and then her lyric video Elements (it’s more than a normal lyric video). That’s still my favorite Chinchilla song
Your excitement and love of Ren and Chinchilla is why we watch! You get it, feel it, like we do. The future of music looks Magical with these artists! 💕
Excellent reaction. I really enjoyed the breakdown of the vocal techniques Chinny uses. I think what ties it all together in her performance is her facial expressions, though. The combination of it all is, as you say, bada$$! Looking forward to the next reaction! ♥
It has not been confirmed that Fingers is about CHINCHILLA’s old management and label; in fact Fingers was released under the label in 2021 (she signed with them in 2020; split with them in 2022). The studio version and original video of Fingers is a much different vibe and I’m not sure she wrote it with regards to any particular experience. But Chinny has spoken out against the industry, and her rage in Little Girl Gone, Caps Lock, and Bounce Back (from her Flytrap EP) is directed at industry. I love Tim’s reactions so much! ❤
Love that you are exploring Ren and Chinchilla...great song , chinchilla does have a lighter fun side to her... Try Terms and conditions, a little on the pop side, but does show her artistic range across her songs.
Loved watching you listen, and your insights into the techniques! She is such a refreshing artist. A real antidote to a lot of what we have been forcefed by the industry. There's nothing cookie-cutter about Chinchilla.
I do believe that this song was about her old manager/label rather than a past lover. Toxic relationship for sure. Her and Ren actually had the same manager for awhile - it’s how they came to know each other. Both of them ended that relationship on bad terms from what I remember.
Fingers is from Chinchilla's Moon Maintenance for Dummies EP that was released whilst under her old label back in 2021, so is unlikely to be about the label and team she was under at the time. I supsect your referencing Little Girl Gone, which Chinchilla has said is about her industry experience and was released after she left her old label and management team. Little Girl Gone also features on her Flytrap EP that reflects Chinchilla's commentory on elements of the music industry.
I'm glad you checked Fingers out Tim, it's such a powerful performance that shows so well the agility Chinchilla has with her voice. You name a technique and she can do it.
As others have said, 1:5 live is astounding also.

And fun fact:
Frission (goosebumps, chills) doesn't happen to everyone.
Thanks for the recommendations and I appreciate the encouragement! Great to connect. xx
So so good Tim
This amazing, beautiful, powerful young woman is hands down my favourite female artist right now.
Her latest 1:5 is equally amazing
During the chorus she is chopping off her words like fingers. Chinchilla is exceptional both lyrically and musically. ❤️🔥😊❤️🔥
Yes! And also someone told me there are 10 syllables representing 10 fingers 🤯
So happy you found Chinchilla. Incredible stuff!
"She is a powerhouse" Tim Welch
New UK 🇬🇧 subscriber 👍🙏👏👏👏👏🫶🏻🫶🏻Thankyou for your amazing reactions and your passion is palpable 🫶🏻🫶🏻👍
This is a great idea, I may ask some students to cover some of her stuff. That would be fun.
I spend most of my free time watching reactions to Ren and Chinchilla videos. I'm so excited when I find a new one! The Renegade community is the BEST. For Chinchilla, I like to say she gives me the "Chin-chills." They're both just otherworldly talented.
Yes! I heard that term as well. I love it.
Chinchilla is an absolute queen. She is humble and kind, while also being bada$$. Love her so much.
She has the voice of an angel.
Dimash coming soon!
How to be me (live)!!!!!
Love the reactions. I've watched hundreds of Ren and Chinchilla reactions, and I could watch hundreds more. Love seeing people experience these for the first rime.
Try the Requiem version of Little Girl Gone - amazing!
I found Chinchilla gling down the Ren rabbit hole, and I'm happy I did.
How to be me (live) with Ren. Most definitely check it out.
Daisy is a brilliant singer/performer
omgoodness, yes!! thank you and enjoy xo
Elements is a must watch!!!
First time on your channel, ADORED your reaction to Chinchilla! She’s just amazing! Welcome to the Chili Beans! 1:5 Live is the next one you should react to, it’s sooooo good!! Subscribed!
Great reaction and Chinchilla is soooo good!! Her control is so impressive. Saw her live with Ren and then on her own recently. Totally blew me away.
Yes please, he is amazing!
I’ve heard him once, I did have a student bringing in one of his songs and it was beyond amazing. An interesting vocalist, he’s definitely on the list.
@@TimWelchVocalStudio Speaking of interesting vocalists: Dirt Miller is another recommendation from Ren with a special voice.
@@TimWelchVocalStudio all the more reason to bring "In a Box III - 900 Days" to the channel! I'm genuinely interested in an analysis like you did with this one!
Already added, thanks!
Yeeeessss!!! I loved learning about her vocal technique from you! Check out her and Ren’s How to Be Me Live (has to be live) and then her lyric video Elements (it’s more than a normal lyric video). That’s still my favorite Chinchilla song
Excited to watch your Chinchilla and Ren journey - totally here for it! They are SO good! 1:5 as suggested on your list and everything Ren for sure.
Little girl gone official video, fabulous, lockdown shakedown, trigger, cold cold water,
Yay! This is the one I’ve been waiting for! Thank you so much
Still gives me goosebumps after 100x listens. Phenomenal performance!
Listen to ren and chinchilla "how to be me" live!!!!!
Coming!
Independant artists are where the true new talent is.
Goosebumps never get old 😂 …. It’s when we quit having them that we have truly become cold.
Haha, truth!
Your excitement and love of Ren and Chinchilla is why we watch! You get it, feel it, like we do. The future of music looks Magical with these artists! 💕
Follow you now because this is all the future of music IMO. talent now.
Thanks for letting it play through first time with analysis after. Your expressions echoed hers
She's a force of nature and YES - full body goosebumps, in and outside - pure artestry, huge talent and total devotion, to reach this level 🔥❤️👌🏼
Excellent reaction. I really enjoyed the breakdown of the vocal techniques Chinny uses. I think what ties it all together in her performance is her facial expressions, though. The combination of it all is, as you say, bada$$! Looking forward to the next reaction! ♥
I love how you listened all the way through, and then broke it down. What a great reaction!🌸💕🌸💕🌸
Thank you!! 😊
The song is about her old record company
Oh wow! Interesting.
@@ElleScamp 💯
Love that you are exploring Ren and Chinchilla...great song , chinchilla does have a lighter fun side to her... Try Terms and conditions, a little on the pop side, but does show her artistic range across her songs.
Loved watching you listen, and your insights into the techniques! She is such a refreshing artist. A real antidote to a lot of what we have been forcefed by the industry. There's nothing cookie-cutter about Chinchilla.
Chinchilla is amazing!
Thank you for reacting to her
I love her songs, but her live performances are pure masterpieces!
She's SO badass!! I'm super excited to see your reactions to the rest of her catalogue!
I do believe that this song was about her old manager/label rather than a past lover. Toxic relationship for sure. Her and Ren actually had the same manager for awhile - it’s how they came to know each other. Both of them ended that relationship on bad terms from what I remember.
So interesting, thanks for sharing.
Great reaction! Your channel won't be small for long.
🙏🏼✨
Chinchilla truly is a badass!
