Episode 1 - the bell tolls after Himmel is laid into the ground, reminding Frieren of something, she takes out the ring and looks at it almost puzzled for a mere 3 seconds or so. I couldn't stop tearing up at the proposal scene when I first watched it, and I was at work 🤣😭
Like the ending says: "Are you alright?" the answer is most surely: no Its so good, this new journey for Frieren is essentially she mourning him and realizing how much they meant for each other.
"I've simply been pretending to be an adult until I can make it as an ideal grown-up." Old man Heiter saying that is really amazing, because no one ever becomes the ideal grown-up. It's a really humbling line and I love it. Such incredible writing.
Since I'm a grown man, I'm even more prone to tears. It's natural and there's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm over 60 years old, and I always cry when I see people crying while watching anime.
It's a tiny detail but I love how they animated Frieren sliding down the roof at 6:26. The little bumps as she moves over the overlapping tiles is a great visual
although frieren and fern both having a mirrored-lotus accessories, their design and meaning are different. if you look their design closely, you will find the mirrored-lotus on fern's bracelet is blooming while the one on frieren's ring isn't, which can be hinting their love stories having different ending.
This anime is a good reminder for all of us not to take things or people for granted. Nothing last forever. By the time we realize it, it may be too late.
regarding the shows you mentioned, when i get home form work my mom is always watching those series, buffy , angel, charmed etc, so we always eat while watching them before i go upstairs to my room, and to this day i sill find little details that escaped my eye back in the day, and regarding Frieren, it is sad but also wonderful to know that Frieren also feel something for good old Himmel

Once you realize that Himmel is in love with Frieren, the ending song hits with more feeling. When I hear that song, I know that it's Himmel words to Frieren knowing that she won't hear them. Such a great and sad song.
The music sells it. And you're the only reaction channel that makes a point of underscoring how important that is. The music in this show is absolutely top notch. Obviously a given person is going to react to the emotions being evoked by music whether they realize it or not, but I definitely prefer it when the viewer understands.

Then, thought, “I realize 14epi is definitely the peak of the work, and ok! it's allright, I could watch Freiren with peace of mind.“ but...as you can already see from the epis posted on Y-Tube... if people forcefully destroy the lachrymal glands, you will suddenly come to the point where ur about to reverse something, so it’s healthiest to react naturally.
Stark/fern& freiren/himmel their relationships are mirrors of each other's . As freiren remembers her relationship with himmel she is slowly realizing she has/ had fallen in love with him.
2:20 Buffy the Vampire Slayer... This is one of those things that serves as a warning to not examine fond memories too closely. My wife and I LOVED the MOVIE Buffy the Vampire Slayer (we didn't watch the series). We rewatched the movie a few years ago and afterwards looked at each other saying (basically) "That was a piece of shit."
Oh I recognised the movie as being a piece of shit when I first saw back in the day. The series, though it is firmly entrenched as a 90s show, is universally timeless with it themes.
spoilers: . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . .. theres a time travel arc.... himmel does find out that future frieren not her current one loved him back.... in the middle of a fight scene.... theres one of these great demons grausam one of the sages of destruction that casted the most powerful illusion on both of them..... it shows you the most beloved dream in your life that you have casted away because you cant achieve it anymore and makes it a reality.... and it was a dream world for both of them... himmel in a church about to marry frieren....and its the future frieren trapped in the past frierens body.... they had the same dream that they can never achieve.... they both stand there in place unconcious while in the dream world... funny cause heiter had to fight grausam alone.... heiter fighting 2 great demons the other one was solitar the nameless one... and eisen the warrior was fighting the great demon general "rivale" the bloodstained god of war.. frieren cant use future magic cause it will ruin the timeline such as flight and zoltrack.... and they cant kill grausam and rivale cause it will ruin the timeline... the good thing about this is himmel confirmed that atleast in the future after his death frieren did love him back and thats good enough for him.... its nice that himmel recognize on the spot that it was not her frieren he was talking to but frieren of the future.. he refrained on asking about the future..... himmel such a hero....

Pure love between two middle schoolers. Ignore the psycho stuff in the first two episodes as that's just his delusions and they don't last long.
if Hollywood made an adaptation they would cast a strong black female as a lead with a cyberpunk side shave hairstyle for frieren and himmels character would change to a villain because hes a straight white man 😂do not turn this to a live action, they would probably turn the drunkard priest gay too just cause. He said live adaptation - not Hollywood live adaptation. It could work - the issue is that it would have to be perfect, which is hard to achieve.
