planing to return my Ally in 2 days and have a day to figure out if the Go is the upgrade i'm looking for! now that it's been a few months - anything you miss about the Ally?
@@udance4ever The Ally's screen is smaller, the battery drains very, very quickly, and it overheats a lot. Additionally, it doesn't have a trackpad, making it uncomfortable to use the operating system with it. The Lenovo Legion Go is a great option, and you won't regret it. For many games, you'll need to make some adjustments to get them running well, but overall, and in my experience, it offers a better experience than the ROG Ally.
@@WARMENTV I decided to take the jump & exchange for the LeGo! I really like the detachable controllers but it's a mixed experience. legion space is dead on arrival - it auto upgrades & refuses to work. it's def noisier on full throttle. and the trackpad is nice but I actually like the joystick control - it actually is easier with scrolling w the left stick. I think the Ally X is probably a better fit but it's almost 2x what I paid open box for the Ally Extreme so it's a no go. I'm having to put handhelds on pause for now while things bake further & now looking at a palm PC (EM780) & even being enticed to get a used M1 mini as it's still fairly compact. but it's a hard decision as I really want this device to boot windows & Linux to complement my iPadPro. glad it is working out 4 u tho!
At 700 to 750 dollars for this level of hardware alone, these new handhelds are worth the price. I'm using my Go as a laptop to do my sculpting work on I zbrush, it's fantastic(especially if you get XR glasses to go with it). I don't need to lug a full laptop around anymore when I travel! They still have some wrinkles to iron out but there are lots of ways to work around it not having VRR using riva tuner and fps capping. Depending on the game I'll cap it to either 36 48 or 72 fps on 144z. Anything above 72 fps feels plenty smooth even without VRR.
This^ I need to take a work laptop when I travel which mean carrying another laptop for my personal stuff is just too much… the Go seems like the perfect solution. I have been using the Steam Deck but Linux is not something I have fully adopted for productivity. My Go comes the week and I am thinking about loading Windows 11 ltsc off the bat as it has zero bloatware.
You don’t have to reattach the joy cons to get them to reconnect. You simply hold down that top small button until the lights back up and it’ll automatically reconnect.
thanks for review just bought mine. Love it, 4:50 you can just long press on legion R/L button to reconnect joystick back easily, I know video is two months old, could be lenovo updated now.
I like this video and it felt different. I'm hearing things/points based from a user that probably played with the Legion Go enough and hearing actual experience on a relatable level. It doesn't felt like there's a fine blueprint on where we're gonna breakdown this device after being sent by the sponsor. As a casual, I just want to know the experience of having this device and I felt that here. Legion Go in my country is worth USD 890 so I really need inputs like this.
Exactly! I couldn't have said it better, and I tried.😅. I'm hoping we finally have found such a thorough and honest lengthy reviewer for all future handhelds. *Crosses fingers*
The lenovo legion go from the research i have done has fewer problems hall effect joysticks, can be used more like a pc when needed, and has a bigger screen with downsizing to improve 800 to 900 px gaming the main issue with things like deck which can and has shipped with stick drift, the ally which has shipped with sd card not working or getting immediately burned up and destroying sd cards the finger prints on the screen applies to every single hand held
I have the Ally and Go. Trying the Lenovo for a bit to see which one I will like more. I think I'm leaning towards the Ally strictly for the comfort in holding it. Feels more natural in playing FPS games in controller mode for me. Both are great though.
It seems like you're running it the way it came out of the box, which is by default very low settings for performance, by changing some settings in the BIOS I am able to run a 27 inch 2560 x 1440 external display and run Death Stranding and Microsoft Flight Simulator on almost ultra settings with out an external GPU, just make sure to a make few changes to your bios settings before you get into load heavy titles and the Legion Go shines, to do so first press your power button when the device is off, then hold volume up, then choose bios settings, now that you're in the bios set up screen at bottom right of screen choose more settings then choose configuration, then change UMA frame buffer size to 8G, make sure maximum memory data clock speed is set to 7500 MT/S then make sure you have enabled SMT mode (multithreading mode) and lastly set you core number to 8, and games will run waaaaay better than out of the box as you do not get its full capabilities right out of the box. Configuration is key !
I would say these type of reviews are great because it feels genuine, some times when youtubers comes very technical their feellings about the device doesn't feel genuine. great video keep the hard work.
Just picked up my Lenovo Legion Go today. It was £100 off the original price. I will be using a Xbox Series X controller as well as my Samsung earbuds.
Swap legion space for steam big picture with ps5 or xbox controller using Bluetooth connection and leave the legion controllers in the cupboard. Get a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse then download dolby access for the sound quality. Upgrade the SSD to 1tb with as big as you can get + quality micro SD. Get a decent dock with 4k 60 output and a Ugreen 20000mah 100w power bank to recharge 1 time to 100%. And lastly a waterproof bag with external charging port.
Nice vid. I normally use the Legion Go in tablet mode and has not used my iPad Pro for a month now. On power saving mode, my Legion Go lasts between 5-7 hours of productive time. Honestly I realized that the Legion Go is more of an iPad Pro killer, and its gaming capability ir more of a bonus.
I subscribed to your channel when you said that you are getting older, I respected that so much, it was very humble of you to say that, as I am old myself and do need a bigger screen, I have the Ally, but want to get the Legion Go for the bigger screen, kind regards
I fixed the audio by downloading FX Sound. The sound isn't a hardware issue. It's Legion's settings and software. Apparently, any good EQ program will fix this. With FX Sound, my Legion Go is as loud as my Ally. It doesn't have the range, but it sounds 10 times better than it did.
One extra thing to add on to someone looking to upgrade from a steam deck is you're no longer linux/windows gatekept. I have a steam deck and getting theLegion go was a liberating experience not having to worry about Linux compatibilty. I know you can boot windows off an sd card (which I have), but lets be honest, windows experience on the deck sucks and I'm convinced they abandoned future updates for that side. Don't get me wrong, I love my steam deck and plan to keep it, but believe me when I say the legion go is that big of an upgrade in more areas than not.
i know nothing about the Deck - is the Steam Deck not just a clean slate where you can wipe the hard disk and make it dual boot Windows and SteamOS (and any other distro)? I am loving my experience w the Ally because of how flexible it is - I just want better hardware and just ordered a Go
@@udance4ever It comes preloaded with steamOS which is Linux based therefore all games that aren’t Linux compatible have to run through a compatibility layer called proton. It’s pretty good at almost all games, but there’s still a few that don’t work. It’s a bit of a complicated process to wipe steamOS from the steam deck and install windows, and if you don’t go that route then you have to dual boot which is also a complicated process. Probably looking at an hour while following a tutorial. Now ya know!
@@rodom-kr6xh I just gave my steam deck to my brother, he’s 5 years older than me and has never had a gaming pc before and he is mind blown by the steam deck.
I had the Ally and loved it no problems at all. I just can't do the 7 in screen anymore. I only had the Legion Go 2 days now. But I love it and will be keeping it. The screen is amazing. The sound is underwhelming but is not a deal breaker for me
I had Lenovo Go for over 10 days and it's perfect for me. I boot straight in to Windows on mine, so i can select one of the nearly 10 launchers installed directly. I also prefer Windows mode over Lenovo Space for quick access to Windows apps etc.
@@danielx1224 Nothing changed. To me it's still a hybrid handheld/laptop, and not a pure gaming handheld like the others. I use it as a mini PC too and is still the handheld most suitable for laptop usage. I have docking with output to monitor/TV, keyboard etc. too.
I upgraded to the Legion Go from a Steam Deck LCD that I purchased when they were first released. The reason I upgraded was for performance reasons and ease of use. I was very disappointed when I purchased the SD and went to play Gears of War and was unable to do so. Then a new Proton was release making it so I could finally play just for it to get messed up again. With the Go I'm not having those problems. Also the screen is amazing, due its sized I sometimes forget its even a handheld. I'm able to get 60FPS from most of my games, something I wasn't able to do with the Steam Deck. I really liked my Steam Deck, but after the release of the OLED , I felt like it was a slap in the face to all of us who purchased the SD from the start. I have till Jan 15th with my Go but so far its a keeper.
Slap in the face? Really? I envied the people that had the OG steam deck, steam os is wonderful, great customer service aid. Steamdeck had everything going for them. Can't believe you would back talk after having steam, the fact that steam deck even made an oled version with bigger battery, because they're listening to the consumers. You think Asus or Lenovo will do the same for you? I'm telling you now the next steam deck is gonna beat everything else on the market when it comes out.
@crimsoncloud6352 that's just my opinion. Don't get me wrong Steam Deck walked so all these other companies and systems could run. And I agree about the Valve Customer Service. All I'm saying is it should of been OLED from the start.
hey thanks for sharing! I'm glad the Go is working out for you tho!! I was wondering how the people who bought the OG Steam Deck feel, especially the people who might have bought it right before they released the OLED version
@@mishileehunibeeI had the OG deck ever since it came out and now have the go for a while. I think the devices compliment each other and I'm planning on keeping them both. No hard feelings about the oled, pretty much the opposite actually. Competition is always good for the consumer, I'm almost certain that valve releasing the oled when they did had something to do with the Go coming out. I also had the ally, but I returned it because that whole SD card fiasco. As is, the Go is my absolute favorite, it has changed a lot since it's release, just like the deck did. Thank you for the video.
many people are returning the legion go and after that they get the new steam deck oled instead including me! the oled screen is brilliant then the weight is now more comfortable to hold while playing handheld and the big thing they update also the battery!
@@mishileehunibee im speechless with the new oled screen! the social media and camera can’t do justice to see the real beauty of the steam deck oled specifically the limited edition one im just satisfied on my purchase
have you tried playing any older games on the legion ? games that runes on direct x 9 or 10 ? most of those don't work on the legion because of the portrait screen
I returned mine. I kept passing up the ally because everyone was hyped about the screen. Turns out that it was too big and heavy for me to consider it a proper handheld device. It was also pretty loud with the fan having a terrible whine at every speed. I picked up an ally on an open box deal to try it out, turns out its exactly what I wanted. The six months of software development really leaves the legion In the dust .
@@cyrax3840 This is one of the major reasons I was hesitant to buy it. The more I think about it, the less of a problem it is. Ill pop in a 2tb sad and never use the slot, if I need to transfer files, ill use my m.2 enclosure .
I have been using my Legion with no issues at all. Keep in mind that if you do not have experience troubleshooting on a gaming PC you may end up having issues with any windows handheld, you have to know what you are doing. Once you find the sweet spot everything else runs smooth. I have too say that the rogue Ally has the best sound ever, VRR is not there but the screen in the Legion is just awesome. So first understand what you like and what you can live without and then make your choice.
Most definitely, legion go are for consumers that know how to update drivers, software, and how to optimize any type game. It’s not for someone that is not too in-depth about these customization and utilizations. I do believe legion go still has some updates to do to make things a little more simple
@@jayallen9198ask any gamer with a Windows laptop if they don't have issues while installing videogames, there is always something to troubleshoot, no matter what computer you use, there is always something to address.
I'm assuming you find this video before the update came out? Legion space mouse pointer work. Ui was revamped. And to turn on controller after disconnecting you have to hold the top legion buttons for 8 secs
Love my Legion Go, my use case was to play Baldur's Gate 3 with my sons while I'm traveling away from my home gaming PC. Love that the grips are detachable as I can use it as a travel computer with mouse/keyboard. I normally have a usb-c battery with me anyway so not too worried about battery life. The updates for Lenovo software have been pretty good. I can quickly switch from power-save to performance mode. I paid for the Dolby software to use my apple headphones that support dolby. Agree that the onboard speakers arent great. Upgraded internal m.2 from 1tb to 4tb. Wish it had more RAM but hasn't been a problem for me with games.
Greetings from South Africa! Thanks for the review, I'm glad I stumbled across your content. I was considering saving for a Legion Go, but since launch I've seen enough to convince me it doesn't fit my particular gaming use case. I don't need a huge screen, and I always have dedicated hardware around when I play. Still, I like your take on it, that the Legion Go excells in particular use cases, and the Ally excells in others. Subscribed, looking forward to more videos :)
@@mishileehunibee It's all over my feeds! Near everyone in the handheld PC field is talking about it. But it's not on my list. Thanks to quirks of distribution, the ROG Ally is about $100 cheaper than the LCD Deck here, and it has a lot more official support. Are you getting an OLED?
I absolutely love this device, though I unfortunately agree with you about the terrible speaker quality. The big screen is beautiful. I've only used the controller in mouse mode a few times, but I can see how it would be appealing.
Legion was a great attempt. Honestly... It's a (5/10) compared to the Rog Ally (8/10) Controllers, buttons and especially the sound quality is 100 percent lackluster. When I receive my Legion go I played around with it and got my updates all secure and then just played one of my favorite songs on youtube. Oh my god, that audio quality is honestly horrendous. That alone swayed me away even to install games I'll continue to enjoy Ally
I was in the same boat. I returned my legion go. I think the hardware was great but the software and the legion space just made any good experience not worth it. The ally as it stands now aside from the sd card reader is the windows device I would’ve preferred. Maybe in a few months it will be a joy. I did manage to get an order for the steam deck Oled model today though 😊
@@BudgetAstro-ba noooice. I went with the 512 because with an Oled panel I do not like anti glare at all. I have a 4090 desktop pc hooked up to my 42 lg c2 Oled and it’s the most beautiful display I’ve used with a oc.
@@mishileehunibee yes indeed. It will be my emudeck and older titles chilling device. I still have my Oled switch though for those Nintendo exclusives only. Every household should have atleast one switch.
The go offers hand held as an alternative but always fudges in favor of the table or desktop gameplay experience. It's a price conscious alternative to a laptop. It's for people who like the flexibility to go hand-held but don't consider it their central priority. The wildcard is whether screen size is going to compel people to ignore the ergonomic tradeoffs. I suspect alot of Samsung's cell phone success has come from screen size.
This is actually perfect for a truck driver on a 34 hour reset. Big screen without having to mount a TV. Not too many watts compared to a console or laptop.
i think you hit the nail on the head here - the Ally is still too heavy for me in my book for extended gaming so i'd rather just put in on the table as you said. the detachable controllers makes it easier to just bring 1 extra controller with me to play with someone else (until a 3rd party makes Switch-like joycons that are practical to use :)
you dont need to plug the controller if the screen turns off ... you just need to press and hold the "legion" button on it (see as start / menu) for 2-3 seconds and it reconnects. I never take them off with the screen powered on because I can accidentally click stuff.
You can turn them on when they are detached. Hold legion space button(same on the right side) for 7 seconds... I know 7 seconds is kinda too long😂. But it works.
This was an absolutely awesome and comprehensive review I was torn between getting this and the steam deck Oled i'm definitely getting the steam deck oled
I think RetroGameCorps, Taki Udon or ThePhawx, for example are more comprehensive. I'm here because I'm a woman and there's just not enough women in this space, so that perspective is really important to me. She mentions it isn't comfortable, but even the dudes with their man hands find Deck and Ally better ergonomically. Watch everyone, even the bad ones, when you're buying. You don't ever know what tidbit or different perspective that aligns with yours that they might add that's useful and things which reaches consensus, hold a bit more weight.
This video just popped up in my recommended feed :P guess I've been watching too many Legion Go Reviews before I pulled the trigger and purchased mine lol After watching your video through I will say the FPS mode to me was a big pass, I couldn't be bothered to deal with playing FPS games like that, I rather just use a MnKB at that point. With that being said, I love this thing! It replaced my original Steam Deck from launch and I really appreciate not only having access to Xbox Game Pass natively but playing the handful of Steam Games in my library that weren't supported on the Steam Deck. The screen is GORGEOUS! I find the size, weight and control grips of this device to be very comfortable, then again I am a dude with big hands so It works out better for me I guess lol This was a well put together video! I see you last uploaded the Steam Deck OLED video and you sounded like you were having way more fun with that device, so I assume the Legion Go has been returned? Either way hope you enjoy your gaming through the Steam Deck OLED.
very nice and honest Video... After going through so many videos about LLG and Ally I concluded one thing that clearly there is no winner and both of the devices has its own pros and cons . Either you will get disappointed by both or will be impressed by either.
I mean, aside from the speakers, all issues are software related and they're totally fixable. I agree with you about not returning it as Lenovo keeps pushing updates and address the issues.
2:18 Wait.... SERIOUSLY?! I can't believe they did that! The case that the Steam Deck comes with has a space on it's back for the charger. These handhelds don't come anywhere close to providing an all day charge so it's guaranteed that the user is going to need to top it off at some point. It's still not a deal breaker on it's own BUT if you aren't carrying it around in a bigger bag/pack that means you need to add on the purchase of a case that provides a place for charger + cable.
I got a gaming laptop and it did not make sense to have the Legion Go, so I returned mine. Also the portrait screen mode made some of my weeb games not work, but I did heard theres a app called magpie that would help with it. I wish I did not return it so hastely now, but it was just a big too big. I did have the Rog Ally and the Steam Deck, both returned as well. Rog Ally was pretty rough. I actually really want to try it now again, but only use it for games my I would of played on my switch. I am tired of comparising graphics on the switch. Steamdeck was just too restrictive on multiplayer games, I heard its better now, but its just too dated for me at this time. Legion Go size is just too big and heavy when you got a gaming laptop. Specially now with gan laptop chargers. Making gaming laptops more convenient now. Also, I hate comprising on graphics on my higher end games. I am getting FOMO with all these different devices I need to stay updated on.
nice presentation!! I 'm pretty happy with my Ally for me the sound and the vrr is a game changer and the smaller size makes it a really portable device the go is more like a heavy tablet I can say
I got the legion go yesterday and I love it man. I’m blown away by the performance. The only reason I could see someone returning it, is if they don’t know how to do pc gaming (updates, drivers, launchers, windows, video settings etc…) steam deck oled is better for people that don’t know how to use a pc. Legion go is a dream come true for pc gamers.
That's definitely not the only reason. The Go isn't as good on the Go, as in handheld use. It's a handheld that is better, on a table top. A laptop is also better on a table top. That's just one reason beyond your only, nonsense. The Go markets itself as FPS focused, but if you play handheld, not table top, you still will do better with Steam Deck sticks, trackpads & gyro, which are better than the Ally, she prefers. Although, if it's an anti cheat title, then maybe Ally or Go are better than Deck dual booting. Sometimes even people that know, don't want to spend the additional time, not playing their game. I've heard that from more than reviewer, who definitely knows, but just want to play, when they aren't working.
With all the updates that were released this thing is a pleasure to own now. Plus you can use it as a gamming rig and hook up an external GPU and push the limits even more with the graphics.
Hi did you update your legion space? Looks like the old one, you can also change the charging speed! It’s on “slow charging by default” you are given options to change it to “medium speed” or “fast speed charging” change it to fast charging! Crazy charging difference
omg of course they would release an update the same day I upload my video lol 😭 I haven't updated it yet so I'm excited to check it out. thanks for the tip about the charging options! :)
how's your experience? I'm about to evaluate a Go for 2 weeks after having a mixed experience w the Ally (it would be perfect if it weren't for its hardware issues!)
People talk about the legion go being heavy and such, but to me that's a non-issue because of the hardware versatility. For in bed, just get a tablet mount and have that hold the screen up for you. For me, I have hand issues and can't hold the steam deck for very long, which sucks. 😢 If the deck only had a built in kickstand, and maybe removable controllers like the legion, that would allow for way more options for play.
ive got the same thing going on - these handhelds are too bulky to be practical to hold up for long periods of time so i do want to try the bigger screen and tabletop mode. it also seems like if you're in bed and you want to play a touchscreen game, it will at least be a bit lighter without the joycons attached (though i'm sure not as light as an ipad mini but no Steam games in this dept!) - I'm looking fwd to seeing if this thing fits how I use it!
Hi! Are you able to read in-game texts fine on the 8.8"? I had the Steam Deck before, but on the 7" screen, I couldn't easily read in-game texts such as quests or dialogue texts for many RPG games. Example games are Witcher 3 and Diablo 4.
great question!! I've been playing Baldur's Gate and there is text on the screen when it comes to dialogue. I wasn't struggling to read it, but I also had to wear my glasses every time I played and I tried to keep the screen as close as possible. but maybe my eyes are just bad lol. I also played it on the ally, and it was much harder to read in comparison.
this was super interesting and felt honest. you could get the xreal air glasses, and save on neck strain. (which could hurt you eventually) thanks mishi! subbed
oooo you know what, I've been looking at those!! I was going to make a video about them but then the legion came out... and then the steam deck oled so right now im working on the steam deck video :)
That’s the one thing I love about the Deck it remembers all your controller settings for every game and settings so just that alone is one of the best features in my opinion set it up once and never have to worry about it again 👌 😊
On top of that, on the steam deck you have the option to use community made controller settings, and it even shows how many hours people have used those settings. Such a great feature.
Traded mine in, built a desktop and got an LCD Steam Deck on-trade for games on the go. The buggyness was enough to get me to return it to Micro Center.
Idk Mishi, I agree with you on the lego being clunky, bad sound, ugly interface, clunky and all but I still love……… wait im watching this on deck hahaha
The legion Go has some issues for sure but I'm never understood why audio quality is one of them. I mean, who's relying on a handhelds speakers for immersive audio? Of course you're going to be using earbuds or a headset.
Well I think when you have other handhelds out like the Ally and the Steam Deck, it does matter, because that's what the Go is competing against. Yes, the Go is more than just a handheld, and you're right, no one is expecting any of these devices to sound like you're in a theater or something, but that doesn't take away from the fact that there are people out there (including me) who don't always want to wear headphones every single time they want to play.
I got the GO open box 1Tb for $636 already owned the LCD Deck sold it few months ago. Because the Rog Ally was too good but, I want a bigger screen just wanna see if it will replace my Ally with the GO since the SD card reader went to crap after the last update on my Ally. I had all my switch games on it destroyed the SD card with the reader and, I had a pretty aggrieve fan curve.
yup - my Ally reader zapped a high endurance card (withstands heat) within 5 days. did you get yours fixed under RMA? I'm within my 15 day window so I'm just gonna give the Go a spin.
My main complaint with the Legion Go is the battery life, it sucks that it's max life even with power efficiency on is like 2 maybe 2.5 hours but the screen and performance of this thing is so nice. I mainly emulate games on this thing since I use my main pc for most games especially FPS ones so my favorite thing to do is plop this thin up with it's kickstand, hook up my xbox controller and then just play Conker's Bad Fur Day, Pokemon Stadium, Ocarina of Time, etc. and it runs them so good. Even Dark Souls 3 and other newer games run really good on this thing. Best part is, if you're in the states prowl your local best buys for Open Box returns, you can find them for as low as $600 for the 1tb models and they're basically brand new. That's how I found mine at my local Best Buy.
I just got a legion go because the ally screen is too small, hopefully someone buys my ally off me on ebay as I can't return it. The audio however I did the realtech app trick that I found on youtube and the quality is so much better, I will eventually get steelseries sonar on it though which on my desktop makes any speakers/headphones sound great. What actually prompted me to buy the legion go though is the removable controllers, I played a the last of us with a controller on my desktop and sitting back and not having the screen in my face the entire time was refreshing, I also don't mind the fps mouse, but I prefer my mmo mouse
The Speakers are awful, and are the worst thing about the GO The screen size is both a pro and a con. It's a little too big for a handheld, but just right sitting on a desk or table. I don't like the placement of the Buttons. I don't the feel of the joycons went detached, they really need an adapter to make a single controller like the switch has. FPS Mode, I hated. If I had kept mine, I would have ditched the controllers, stuff them in the case, got a different case, and use it as an 8" tablet, keeping a wireless xbox controller, a small travel keyboard and mouse with me. The Legion Go wasn't for me. (I'm not saying it's bad, it just had to many cons for me to keep)
I absolutely was thinking the same thing with detaching the controllers and just kept it as a tablet... that's really the only way I've been playing lately lol
i know you don't have your Go anymore - i saw a video showing 3 very different joycon attachment thingies you can get off Etsy. i'll def look into getting one.
Personally, I love the Lenovo Legion Go. I mainly play on emulators though. I’m a retro gamer. I don’t have any complaints. I’m planning on upgrading the storage by the way!
i got Batocera Linux and RetroBat dual boot working perfectly on my Ally and then the hardware issues seeped in (thankfully before 14 days) - Go arrives tmrw and have my fingers crossed it will work just as well!
I bought the Ally about a week ago, haven’t opened it as of yet. All these reviews have me a bit tense and thus reason i haven’t opened it. what did you decide on? 12 days into my BB open box Ally and a Go arrives tmrw. I'm pretty certain I'm going to switch over and I have a full day to figure this out!
Heard the new Legion Go might have a smaller screen but I really hope they keep the 8-inch one it’s a big selling point for me. If they add a bigger battery, better sound, and more RAM, I’d consider it over the Ally X. For now, I’m just waiting to see what the Legion Go 2 offers before I decide 🤔
i have the LeGo for a while now and have greatly enjoyed it, played mostly Return to Moria, in handheld mode, longest session was 6.5 hours. haven't used FPS mode but i am not really someone to use mouse and keyboard,
I sold my Steam Deck Oled and bought a Lenovo Legion Go, with the lastest video drivers update and the sound fixes, it is absolutely amazing!!

@anthonypetruzzi6793 The Ally Z1 Extreme and Legion Go are still better. I plan to get a new handheld next year with new technology.
This^
I need to take a work laptop when I travel which mean carrying another laptop for my personal stuff is just too much… the Go seems like the perfect solution. I have been using the Steam Deck but Linux is not something I have fully adopted for productivity.
My Go comes the week and I am thinking about loading Windows 11 ltsc off the bat as it has zero bloatware.
I love this idea.

how is your experience with it now
😂😂😂
I like this video and it felt different. I'm hearing things/points based from a user that probably played with the Legion Go enough and hearing actual experience on a relatable level. It doesn't felt like there's a fine blueprint on where we're gonna breakdown this device after being sent by the sponsor. As a casual, I just want to know the experience of having this device and I felt that here. Legion Go in my country is worth USD 890 so I really need inputs like this.
@KunoichiTin thank you so much :') appreciate you!

i was thinking the same too!
I agree that it the ally does feel much more comfortable to hold, at least for me lol.
@mishileehunibee darn, you're fine
@@erfgthygreas1709lmao thirsty in the comment section. Life must be tough for you 😂😂😂
It seems like you're running it the way it came out of the box, which is by default very low settings for performance, by changing some settings in the BIOS I am able to run a 27 inch 2560 x 1440 external display and run Death Stranding and Microsoft Flight Simulator on almost ultra settings with out an external GPU, just make sure to a make few changes to your bios settings before you get into load heavy titles and the Legion Go shines, to do so first press your power button when the device is off, then hold volume up, then choose bios settings, now that you're in the bios set up screen at bottom right of screen choose more settings then choose configuration, then change UMA frame buffer size to 8G, make sure maximum memory data clock speed is set to 7500 MT/S then make sure you have enabled SMT mode (multithreading mode) and lastly set you core number to 8, and games will run waaaaay better than out of the box as you do not get its full capabilities right out of the box. Configuration is key !

Finally a video from a common user just like me. So helpful! Thank you so much for this!
Nice vid. I normally use the Legion Go in tablet mode and has not used my iPad Pro for a month now. On power saving mode, my Legion Go lasts between 5-7 hours of productive time. Honestly I realized that the Legion Go is more of an iPad Pro killer, and its gaming capability ir more of a bonus.
great review, definetly honest, hand me on the fence but i fell back to my ally
I subscribed to your channel when you said that you are getting older, I respected that so much, it was very humble of you to say that, as I am old myself and do need a bigger screen, I have the Ally, but want to get the Legion Go for the bigger screen, kind regards
I fixed the audio by downloading FX Sound. The sound isn't a hardware issue. It's Legion's settings and software. Apparently, any good EQ program will fix this. With FX Sound, my Legion Go is as loud as my Ally. It doesn't have the range, but it sounds 10 times better than it did.
ooo thank you for this! I'll look into it!
I am loving my experience w the Ally because of how flexible it is - I just want better hardware and just ordered a Go
@@udance4ever
It comes preloaded with steamOS which is Linux based therefore all games that aren’t Linux compatible have to run through a compatibility layer called proton.
This is the main reason I want to sell my deck and buy a legion go

I'm glad it's great for you
With all the updates that were released this thing is a pleasure to own now. Plus you can use it as a gamming rig and hook up an external GPU and push the limits even more with the graphics.

Thanks cute stuff. ;)
how's your experience? I'm about to evaluate a Go for 2 weeks after having a mixed experience w the Ally (it would be perfect if it weren't for its hardware issues!)
People talk about the legion go being heavy and such, but to me that's a non-issue because of the hardware versatility.
For in bed, just get a tablet mount and have that hold the screen up for you.
For me, I have hand issues and can't hold the steam deck for very long, which sucks. 😢
If the deck only had a built in kickstand, and maybe removable controllers like the legion, that would allow for way more options for play.
ive got the same thing going on - these handhelds are too bulky to be practical to hold up for long periods of time so i do want to try the bigger screen and tabletop mode. it also seems like if you're in bed and you want to play a touchscreen game, it will at least be a bit lighter without the joycons attached (though i'm sure not as light as an ipad mini but no Steam games in this dept!) - I'm looking fwd to seeing if this thing fits how I use it!

I didn't know that about the steam deck, thanks for the tip! :) I ordered the new oled version so I'm excited for it!!
Most hand helds do that to steam input is on windows to....
Really enjoyed the video, did not feel overwhelming with specs and as a casual gamer I appreciate that. I really cannot decide between the Go and Ally
@@mishileehunibee very true. If speakers are included on a device they are fair game for comparison.
@@kevins.2217 iPadPro speakers are the gold standard! I dunno how they do it!
Can't u turn up the sensitivity of mouse in fps mode so you don't have to move your arm so much?
Yes in windows settings but fps is a joke. Mouse doesn't actually work well. Doesn't stick to platform you may as well use a regular gaming mouse
I got the GO open box 1Tb for $636 already owned the LCD Deck sold it few months ago. Because the Rog Ally was too good but, I want a bigger screen just wanna see if it will replace my Ally with the GO since the SD card reader went to crap after the last update on my Ally. I had all my switch games on it destroyed the SD card with the reader and, I had a pretty aggrieve fan curve.
oh man I'm sorry to hear about your switch games :c how are you liking the Go now?
yup - my Ally reader zapped a high endurance card (withstands heat) within 5 days. did you get yours fixed under RMA? I'm within my 15 day window so I'm just gonna give the Go a spin.
So beautiful 😍. Also, get rid of that 2hr commute!!
ASMR!!!! Great vid
Great video!
thank you! :)
my wrists get tired too 🎉
The Speakers are awful, and are the worst thing about the GO
The screen size is both a pro and a con. It's a little too big for a handheld, but just right sitting on a desk or table.
I don't like the placement of the Buttons.
I don't the feel of the joycons went detached, they really need an adapter to make a single controller like the switch has.
FPS Mode, I hated.
If I had kept mine, I would have ditched the controllers, stuff them in the case,
got a different case, and use it as an 8" tablet,
keeping a wireless xbox controller, a small travel keyboard and mouse with me.
Besides battery life i see no issues, sold my sd, no ot really battery issue just cant limit fps and clocks easily on legion go
I love my legion go I upgraded to a 2 tb and it's awesome
I'm using my Legion Go as a portable laptop!
Was thinking of returning it back to BB but maybe i should open it and give it a try. Never crossed my mind about the Legion, but the Steam Deck tho maybe. Great vid thanks
what did you decide on? 12 days into my BB open box Ally and a Go arrives tmrw. I'm pretty certain I'm going to switch over and I have a full day to figure this out!
Heard the new Legion Go might have a smaller screen but I really hope they keep the 8-inch one it’s a big selling point for me. If they add a bigger battery, better sound, and more RAM, I’d consider it over the Ally X. For now, I’m just waiting to see what the Legion Go 2 offers before I decide 🤔
Love my legion Go :)
i have the LeGo for a while now and have greatly enjoyed it, played mostly Return to Moria, in handheld mode, longest session was 6.5 hours. haven't used FPS mode but i am not really someone to use mouse and keyboard,
@DarthGalen glad to hear it!! how are the grips feeling for you? and how did your hands feel after lol
@@mishileehunibee i havent had any issues with grips, and my hands feel fine, my phone feels light and tiny but that is it
