I just knew now that epic Roger Corman died this month. May he rest in Peace. Thank you for these numerous entertaining movies you left us
Since I've seen this in color now, there's so many info factors, I caught this time, that I've never, realized before. This is wonderful, in color☺️👍!!!
Did you know, that this film🎞️ was a first, for many factors??? It was the first Irish made, horror picture. It was the first (anywhere) 'axe wielding' horror/slasher movie. It was Frances Ford Coppola's, very first, directional debut.
Grreat
Sorry it was NOT the 1st horror/slasher LMFAO what TF ……and no I am not going to waste my time schooling someone who spouts this sort of willfully ignorant and uneducated tripe/opinion. You can maybe next time give an educated opinion on it …..
Colorized B&W movies are crap.
@@nedludd7622black&white films were made that way not out of a choice!! There was no technology to record colour!!
Colorised films are step up from the technologically backwards b&w films.
Silly nostalgia of b&w films is just that, silly nostalgia!!
Wind up gramophones were treated the same way" oh, there's nothing better than a wind up gramophone " ; it's not the same with the electricity!!😂
1963 is right there in the youtube title. I assume we all know that color film was invented in the early 20th century. The main reason is that color films were more expensive to shoot than black and white. Monochrome feature films were still being made by major studios well into the 1960's. Also, not all digitally colorized films are equal. This one in particular looks like ass. Sound quality is poor as well. Dementia 13 is public domain, meaning it's available on at least a dozen streaming sites and available for download from the internet archive. See it in black and white, it has some great moody cinematography.
This is still a very underated psychological horror film with elements later present in Body Heat , Straight Jacket, and The Deep End. Great classic. Thanks !
Underrated by whom!?
Francis Ford Coppola produced and directed this movie. I love his movies Debra Bader
@@sjefhendrickx2257By people and movie critics. What a moronic question.
The combination of Francis Ford Coppola directing and Roger Corman producer is magic.
I agree, but why the colorised version ?
Yes indeed! I love the intro theme song too, after the boat scene!
Excelente película pero MUY BAJO EL VOLUMEN. Favor mejorar para la próxima. Gracias
I remember listening to ads for this on the radio when i was a little kid. It sounded so thrilling. They had some schtick, like the audience had to sign a waver saying they wouldn't give away the ending or something. Can't believe i'm finding it now! Thank you!
I thought it was really good
I mentioned this movie in a time travel novel I wrote that took place in 1963.
For me, with all due respect, it is a film that has not moved me at all. It's my appreciation. But, it is good to read comments in favor and approval of this film. Which seems totally respectable to me.
Amazing, just amazing.. one of the few great old mystery movies I have watched.
I remember seeing the posters for this movie when it first came out. It looked so scary. Now many decades later, I’m finally watching it. Lol
Same happened to me with, "let,s scare jessica to death"
Thank you 💕 for your time , I've just subscribed . I'm over 70 year's old ( Anglo Irish grandma 🍀 ) and my lovely father wouldn't even let me watch Top of the Pops . This would have shocked him as the fake Irish accents are hilarious . Oh ! How I miss him even though I got a couple of clouts when I was a teenage rebel .
Welcome @suzannelacy8093! Great to have you here. Surely you will find many movies to enjoy 😉
Dear @suzannelacy8093 I thought you were the main actress in this movie❤❤❤❤❤
Debi Bader❤
Roger Corman -innovator,multiversant with a magnificent inventive imagination, great man and extremely consistent! One of tthe few great USA film directors!!!!
He didn’t direct this movie; he was one of the producers (the $ to pay for the production).
This was directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
Waited years for this, thank you, Resquiesce in pace Luana Anders
Requiescat in pace...don't mean to be that guy but my two years of Latin got to me...cheers. She was so beautiful.
Filmes de verdade , são excelentes ✌️🌟🏵️💐💛💜♥️💜
eh 🤷♀️
Luana Anders was an intriguing actress, and very pretty. I see some similarities with her's and Veronica Cartwright's acting style and appearance.
Muchísimas gracias por compartir ésta excelente película 😀🙏🏻
So pleased! The last time I watched it somewhat 35 year ago, when I was a teen, in Russian dubbing. And now RUclips suggested it to me here!
One of my favourite films! Perfect thriller film! Thank you very much!!! 👻🤗👏
This is one of my all-time favorites. I watch it every year around Halloween time.
Yeah, a good Halloween film.
It's away too slow I guess they had a lot of time back then !😂
I found this film a few years ago and remembered it was good, couldn't quite remember what happened so watched it againtonight.
I was 9 yrs old when I saw this at the Movies , Scary then, AWESOME MEMORIES 💯👍
Oh yeah, exactly
This didn't go where I thought it was heading, and while I thought I knew the ending, it kept getting a bit...muddled so as to create doubt. Interesting.
Yo no entiendo mucho la pelicula
I love these oldies ❤
Thanks CCC!
Estupenda película y grandes director y productor.Gracias..👍👏☘️
Very much looking forward to seeing this one in color.
And I appreciate you bringing some attention to something more overlooked when it comes to Coppola. This is a solid little psychological thriller.
@joshuaDstarks Check out the description box of our films, you will find the link to the colorized movie if we have it! Hope you enjoy this one!
Great classic thriller, Corman and Coppola brings the pedigree and style. ❤❤❤
I've never seen this film before it's great. Thanks for sharing this and thanks finnish subtitles too 🎬🇫🇮
I brought this movie a few years ago on a DVD, it was in black and white. this version in color is great and includes more scenes than were on my earlier purchase. An enjoyable movie!!
Love these oldies. 😄
If you start looking at 3:56 you can see him blink under water hahaha.❤
When my schoolmates and I watched this, for some sick reason when the poacher got it at 47:56 we all cheered and applauded!
when I was a kid, these movies would have scared me crazy...now I can see how bad they really are.
Quel remarquable thriller ! Merci pour le partage
love old vintage movies so much better
A mi ygual son buenicimas
In a way, 1963 doesn't seem so long ago, in the transistor and space age, with Kennedy as President, on the cusp of the British invasion. But doubling that 60-year interval takes you back to the first flight at Kitty Hawk before the first model-T, before the first vacuum tube, before commercial radio, before the completion of the Panama Canal, in the Teddy Roosevelt administration.
It's wild to think about!
By far Francis Coppola's best film.
Gracias, muy buena película.
Thanks for the upload !! I have never seen the color version !!
@MrCraigblaze Great you enjoyed it! Just for general info, always check the description box for the link to color/B&W version. It'll be there if we have it. 😉
@@CultCinemaClassicsI think I like the black and white version better !!
Thanks for this Movie.👍Wow...what a cold and creedy woman!
Great movie! Thanks for a classic upload 😊
Seen this movie a few too. Always enjoy it. Always forget how creepy it is.
oOoOO colorized, crazy creepy ! Thanks for sharing 💋
Não tinha assistido esse clássico do Copolla 👍👏🌹
One of my favorites! Have the dvd!
Me ha recordado un poco a psicosis... Excelente película 😀 muchas gracias por compartirla
great music, great photography.
Great movie, love it ❤
Muchas gracias ❤
Excelente peli
Louise and Kane looked very similar, in my opinion: at the beginning I could not understand that they were two different girls, and could not grasp why John's wife after getting rid of him, decided to become a bride of Richard so quickly.
I had the experience. I thought it was a flash back at first
all this was caused by a colorizing)))
i thought louise was Sylvie Vartan.
"..an American girl...raised on promises." First time I've seen this film. Now I see what you did, Tom Petty. Can't wait for the next rock 'n roll trivia game.
Where was that? This movie predates that song by 13 years.
@SuziQ. It was a line in this movie. I don't remember exactly where now, but I was calling out Tom Petty for stealing that line/song title from this movie.
@@petem.3719 , I read the trivia. It’s surmised that he did get the line from this movie.
@SuziQ. Ahh.. I had never heard that discussed. I just surmised it independently. Makes sense. It's a GREAT line. Glad it lives on.
Guess the great man was inspired... We miss you Sir.
Thanks for sharing.
Omg at laaaast thanks!!!
Que buena película, buen suspenso... que actores. me encanto. Gracias
Axe murderers on the loose... they're always such a pain in the neck...
Yes their victims often "axed" for it!!!😅😅😅
If I was that lady and there was something spooky going on I'd take all my clothes off in the middle of the night and dive into the swamp. That's what I'd do.
Thanks!
You are very welcome @13csoki ! Thanks to you for your support!
I love it !❤❤❤❤
No real mystery here - I think we all guessed who dunnit. That said, it was a great movie - not seen it before. Thanks for posting.
Throwing an unweighted body into the water???? That's something a blond would do
I was watching this with other kids back in the 70s and we turned the channel after watching that lady try to get out of the lake and get killed by an axe. Too intense for young kids.
good movie! glad i found it!
LUANA ANDERS WAS GREAT. I MISS HER.
That was a good film and the colourising was done a lot better than most.
I thought it was a colour film I had no idea a technic had been used to add colour.🙄😀
Colorizing is an insult to the director,,,,,,,,,,,,@@stephenwilliams944
Gracias por este tesoro !!😊
Ten film był wyświetlany dwa?razy w TV przed kilkoma laty. Owszem, interesujący. Chętnie obejrzę jeszcze raz. Dziękuję 🌺 Miłego oglądania 🎉
Great film for the Halloween season 👻
A scary creepy film I injoyed the film good plot
Foarte bun !
Mulțumesc frumos !❤
When the film characters die in the first three minutes, do the actors get the same amount of money as the other actors,,who survived throughout the film?😂
😂 That was funny.
It depends upon their contracts, value as a star, and many other factors.
Depends, sometimes they have to return as ghosts
@@TurtleTurtle-ii3lq 🤣I badly needed to laugh and I'm grateful to you and your excellent sense of humour!!
I'll sleep faster from now on, so I have more time for reading your funny comments! 🙈🙂
Perfectly gruesome and disturbing 👍👍😃

Why were a three piece suit for a night in a boat ?? 😂😂
Bello, grazie
That was good!
Super!!!👍
excelente pelicula!
Nunca la he buelto a encontrar 😢
Always saw bits and pieces of this in B&W on tv , chopped up of course .
Why does "Louise" look like Jenny Garth to me???
Jenny Garth wishes!
now this is one of the greats! Refurbishes my love of Horror Films!
36:05 😮😮😮Not a good thing to see before bedtime. I'm too far in to turn back now.
otimo classico recomendo brasil
Will be spooktacular
Good mystery movie.
❤good movie
I dig any flick Luana Anders starred in.
Muito bom
That doctor seems to think he can call all the shots!
That seemed weird to me too. He was a famous actor at the time and played many odd characters. The film is nice start for Coppola, but still a far cry from a movie like Apocalypse Now 15 years later.
😀😉😊
This was filled in Ireland
This was the last year when Doo Wop ruled the charts, hence the tunes heard in this movie.
It is unbelievable that Coppola was directing films since I was a baby...I think Vincent Price would be better suited for the role of the Dr. but he ought to be the protagonist and not supporting
And now they seem our age lol😅
Luana Anders was a serious cutie. This was much better in B&W!
Hi @DavidRice111!
Whenever you watch a colorized film and want to check out the B&W version, just go to the description box, you will find the link to B&W if we have uploaded it. Same thing the other way around 😉

Cheers!
Her underwear's color turns blue inside water, but it was white/silver when she was outside water, was that was on purpose or Coppola forget that in continuity?
Maybe 🤔 the actor forgeret jajajaja
Or maybe cause it was originally b&W and it was just bad colouring
@@karolinaszczudlo9871 yes , it seems there was continuity lost in the coloring software as it difficult to do it manually.
@@ajitp3756 yes, it's an art in itself, same as b&W having different shades and light saturation
That looks like the actor from the infamous Star Trek episode.
