    I was thinking that the shape of the pipes could be improved. There should be more surface above the fans but not too much to obstruct the air flow.
    The project is great. Unfortunately, I don't have the mechanical skills to build it but it really gave me cool ideas.
    How about having a sensor that checks the laptop temp and then controls the pump. Hotter it is, the faster is the cooling system.

    That’s so awesome! Would be interesting to know what the difference in average fps is over a gaming session. Minus 20 degrees is sooo good for the longevity of the cpu and gpu though.

      I couldn’t believe how well it worked

    won't condensation build up on the pipes due to the temperature difference vs ambient and moist air blow inside the laptop?

    • @AshBuilt
      @AshBuilt  2 года назад +16

      I haven’t noticed any moisture on the pipes yet. I have on the tank but on the pipes because of the six fans constantly blowing I don’t think they have a chance to gain moisture.

    • @martingaete8098
      @martingaete8098 Год назад +2

      Probably all the condensed water from the environment gets evaporated by the heat, this is good news tho, since evaporation is an endothermal process and absorbs heat from the pipes

    Nicely done bud. Kinda surprised no one really markets any water cooled laptop pads, even though laptops are designed for mobile use as opposed to a desktop. Still would be cool though; no pun intended. I’m currently using the Klim mistral with my 17.3” Dell G7, recently decided to re-enable turbo mode and decided to configure some settings just wish I could get the temps down a bit to an area I’d be satisfied with. Was thinking of rigging up some air ducting to the air intake ports and trying out one of those “Arctic Air” As Seen on Tv coolers lol. My cooling pad only has the two fans as opposed to your setup so I don’t think bending some copper tubing and ziptieing it inside the area the laptop rests atop of would work for my set up.

    • @AshBuilt
      @AshBuilt  2 года назад +1

      I’ve herd the “artic airs” are good might be worth a try.
      You could try reduce you processed power down to 99 that usually helps with temperature

      @@AshBuilt think I’m gonna do something similar to your design. Since my last comment I have returned the laptop cooler I had (the turbines started making noises only after a month) and ordered an IETS gt500 v2, however I want to see if I can get it even colder. Was contemplating getting one of those flat copper bent tubes and soldering directly to the heat pipes on my laptop, but I think I rather just try and slightly modify the laptop cooler instead for now. I’m thinking of making a copper tubing rack similar to your first design.

    But there's no radiator?... The water in the tank will just heat up gradually until it reaches room temp and above.

    • @ptrkmr
      @ptrkmr Год назад

      Yeah I’m confused on this is well. It shouldn’t work without some heat pump like a Peltier cooler. Unless you were to be drawing heat from the laptop itself (if your laptop is metal like mine for ex) and just heat pumping the stuff way. But still, you’d need to have contact with the most of base and his laptop barely has any. Also your radiator would be away from the machine not under it. Shit ain’t adding up here for me

    Coming in a bit late here, thanks for sharing this!💯👏
    Thinking of a mod version of yours using some non-volatile, safe (as safe as the water in your steel bucket) experimental mixtures to compress,
    -> then decompress the ice age out of it - i.e. air sprayed - into the pipes (basically it's still an AC principle but in a novel, non-closed-circuit)
    ...though I still haven't figured out what or how to make safe "kitchen stuffs" to stay at that airy decompression state all the way out the other end - that'd be a eureka moment lol.
    But should I succeed, here's a problem: I live in the hot n wet tropics, no AC. Any attempt to cool stuffs _will_ dew the hell out of anything☔ hhh...
    thoughts on both ideas and issues, anyone?

    • @AshBuilt

      I think if you hand a fully inclosed system like a car radiator system you could reduce the moisture build up. With the high air flow and warm temps of the laptop I don’t think you’d have much moisture build up.

      It would be good if somehow it could be connected to the heat sink but I'm not sure that's possible on a laptop. The idea is to cool the air down as much as possible going into the laptop to then help reduce the temps.
