Dont remind us about the game where the famous Skanderbeg who battled the Ottomans for several decades falls in a single battle and the following siege along with his whole country.
How to beat the Hungarian army: Put a river between you and their army. They can't handle the logistics. Lechfield 955, Muhi 1241, Kressenbrunn 1260, Don River 1943. (I'm Hungarian btw)
@@nestor_srb Oh yea that one as well. Kinda shows how unprepared was the imperial army. They lost repeatedly on all fronts until the end of the war when that joke Genaral Hötzendorf was replaced.
The almost constant state of war of medieval times always amazed me. If you look at Hungary for instance, even after the devastating invasion of the mongols, Béla organized various military campaigns almost every year.
Yeah, most of wars consisted of army sitting outside a castle, waiting for them to surrender. Battles were the exception, not the rule. And of course, peasants suffered, as the army sitting outside said walls had to get food somewhere, so the locals were "asked" to give it up. Wars mainly happened in the spring or summer, rarely in other seasons, so for an average guy, it wasn't as prevalent.
Interesting how often the pope was the major pacifying force in europe at that time. The combination of the threat and danger of excomunication and the glory of crusades were probably the best deterances of war back in those days.
People say its "less deadly" than modern warfare, considering the the army sizes and population sizes that's not really true. For example in this battle the Hungarians lost 1/3 of their army, that's an insane amount of causalities when compared to modern warfare (not including the world wars).
@@CrossBreedTacoHD Yes, but civilian casualties were relatively miniscule compared to more modern battles/wars. Just the Hiroshima bomb has the ability to kill more than a whole campaign from the medieval times.

It is great, especially the part where the hungarians lose for being cheaters. Kingdom of Bohemia was a force to be considered in Medieval times. Love from Wallachia, on the other side of Hungary.
At 8:52 Béla IV. says "Cat kick it!" which is an older Hungarian way of saying "damn it" Also, he has a nickname, the Second Founder (the first being Árpád, who conquered the Carpathian Basin in the 9th century), which was given to him due to his enormous and largely successful efforts to repopulate and rebuild the Kingdom of Hungary after the Mongol invasions of 1241-42. Due to this (and other factors), he is considered to be among the greatest of Hungary's kings.
It's incredible because less than a week ago I was just reading about the first and second mongol invasions of Hungary. I was amazed by the work of Bela IV. Hungary and Poland helped a lot to preserve Europe from Eastern invasions. Spain too in Lepanto. They are a bit undervalued.
Tamás Molnár King Stephen I. founded the Hungarian state. However, the land of the Carpathian Basin was claimed by Árpád, for which he is commonly referred to as "the founder of the country." So, the First Founder is Árpád, and the Second Founder is Béla IV. Saint Stephen founded the state, so he is regarded as a different kind of founder, the only one who founded the Kingdom.

Would love to see a video on one of the battles in the first war for Scottish Independence!!
Excellent
Fun fact: Ottokar was baptized as Přemysl but this Czech name was very hard to pronounce for his german fellows in the Empire so he chose to be called Ottokar outside of Bohemia. In Czech language we call him Přemysl Otakar II.

I’ve been awake for 3 extra hours now, I guess it’s time to stay up some more.

Hello from Brazil!🇧🇷
*Now my weekend can finally start 😁, thanks Baz
Sleep can wait this is the stuff I love to watch.
Every time I watch one of these, I get the urge to start another Stainless Steel campaign. 2000+ plus hours, and I think it's only going to go up.
