I've been getting a lot of comments about the white eyeshadow looking more pink after wearing it a while...at one point in the video, I put some of the matte pink crease shade on top of the white to tone it down, so that's why it looked more pink. I actually liked the result...it was really pretty! But I still feel like even though I got one nice look out of it, I wouldn't use the other shimmers much. I do use dark shimmers sometimes for my outer corner but I'm disappointed that it doesn't have more all-over lid shades. ❤️
Hi Jen, Put a rosy or pink matte eyeshadow underneath, or even a liquid eyeshadow as you would do a cut crease. This way you can make it work and get good use out of this palette for sure. Or you can lighten up those darker shimmers with this icy pink. 😊makeup is fun! 🤩
@@dhayden1981I'll definitely keep playing with it, I'm not afraid. But I feel very limited with the looks I can create and don't feel inspired by it. 😥

I'm shocked that you aren't on the Sydney Grace PR list. They send stuff to Emily Noel and Mandy Lea but I first learned about them from YOU and have purchased over and over again because of you.
So pretty! I'm relatively new to your channel, and i must say, its so refreshing watching someone who is not afraid to zoom in, go filter-free and show real skin! Thank you for being "real" and relatable!
Thanks Jan, always love it when you review affordable make-up that most of us use daily, before we blow our budgeted money on stuff that isn't worth it, or yes, we should grab it before it's gone!!😊😊
Hey Jen! Would you ever consider making a video specifically about blushes that aren't too pigmented? I am looking to buy a new one, but in most people's videos regarding best blushes they say something along the lines of "it's the best one i have, it's super pigmented." I have pale skin and am specifically looking for a blush that doesn't give off too much colour yet something that you can build up and still blends evenly. I know you don't like yours too pigmented either. Love your content! 💕
Me as well😂 and I have shssh - crows feet😳😂. I have been happiest with Maybelline gel blush in the little tube- blends well without being scary intense🎉🎉🎉
Thank you Jen for your always honest and thoughtful reviews. I saw a few other RUclipsrs review the Sydney Grace palette after getting it from the PR list and no one really talked about the shimmer shades and how they'll use it in a practical way in their day-to-day life. I ordered it and now I wish I hadn't. Like you I got caught up in how pretty and soft the colors looked but I don't love dark shimmer shades either and while your look came out pretty I also don't wear light frosty white shimmers and in your swatches the palette looks much deeper than it does on their website. I should have waited for your review!
Most of them (and especially on instagram) will praise whatever SG will send them (Ive been observing them for a long time lol) so I wouldnt go to them for any objective well done honest reviews. Even Emily Noel. Noone goes deep into it and can say things as they are even if its their fave brand. I like SG too but like Jen I am able to say when smth is not amazing or that its not as perfect as anyone makes it to be and thats how it should be especially if people listen to your opinion to decide on getting it or not.
I suppose that most people with affiliate links are not going to give bad reviews of anything…not if they want the free stuff to keep coming. You can return the palette, right? I hate returning stuff, but I have young nieces, they are always happy to take my mistake makeup!
I get what you mean about the Sydney Grace palette but the final result does look really pretty on you. I agree that I wish there were more shimmer shades so I’m going to pass on this one.
Jen, I have to say you really are such a beautiful woman. The video of you in the car, you look much younger than your age. With that said, the makeup (both sides) looked pretty good, and I will probably pick up the blushes, they look beautiful! 😍
I totally agree with you on the palette, not enough shimmer. I brought the colourpop 11:11 and Doll 10 palette on your recommendation and they are amazing! So I’ll skip the SG. Great video as always Jen ❤
Right off the bat. The eyeshadow looks like colour pop. To a T! The formula may be better, but at that price point I’ll stick to my colour pop. It is pretty. But I have alllll those colors already!
U can use the dark shimmer shades on the lower lash line. I think shimmer on the lower lash line is very pretty. I do that because as I’ve gotten older and my skin around my eyes has changed, I love using eyeshadow as a liner. I gravitate towards shimmer as a liner.
Wow. Do I feel old. My high school era was mid-70s, we were all into frosted pastels. Like Maybelline's Blooming Colors. Ok, I'll go back to my rocking chair now...Thanks for the video! I know I asked you to help me choose between this palette, the new Doll 10 3.0 and a Viseart; I'm leaning toward the Viseart.
I’d like to see someone come out with a pallet that would have light, cool pink and cool purple shades in a spectrum from light to dark, with a matte white (because if you’ve never tried it for the inner corner, it is so amazing for older eyes- and everyone else too!) and a dark navy and charcoal gray. I’d like some light shimmers that are not too frosty looking . So far, I haven’t found a perfect pallet, but luckily I can cultivate my own pallet from the multiple Colourpop pallets I have. It is nice to have that option. Between Colourpop Smoke N Roses and Cold Stone Fox- and a few other pallets, I was able to make a few different travel pallets that are perfect for me!
The Sydney Grace Unveiled palette is so pretty! I loved the eye look you created❤ I can’t wait to get this palette! I am very interested to get this Revolution foundation-it looked gorgeous on you and they have a shade deep enough for me-yay!💃🏿 I am not into liquid or blushes too much so the Winky Lux is a pass but it looked lovely on you! I enjoyed this video (as usual❤)!
I am not familiar with Sydney Grace, but for $52 bucks, i expected packaging to be more lux than the cardboard packaging. Just my 2 cents. But it looks pretty
Yeah..I'm happy for Less shimmer shades... but when they're in there, they should be the light colours, as it's the highlight in the eye...but L❤VE the look you got today. I'd love it if they could bring out a palette like that, with just and extra row with blue, green, purple, in a light and dark... so you can do a more natural look, with a pop of colour in the corner, or if you're on holiday, just touch up the make-up and add a bit of drama with some colour....
I love your sweater and nail Polish! That orchid color looks great on you. You look like a teen with your hair up at the end btw 😂! You’ve got great genes!
I agree about the deep toned shimmers. They don’t work for me. Sometimes I will combine a shimmer that is too deep with the lightest shimmer in the palette to make it more wearable as a lid shade.
Yay!!! I think I tend to root for the underdog so I was really wanting makeup revolution to have a win. I'm so glad that, at least initially, they have two😊
Your look is beautiful Jen! ❤ I adore SG and have a ton of their eyeshadows. Having said that, I wish their palettes weren’t so mid/dark shade heavy. I would love to see more lighter shimmers. I know this is a collab palette but I agree with you on your thoughts about the lack of shimmers and the depth of the shimmers. I’m personally going to skip on this one but I’m sure a lot of people will really enjoy it.
Hi Jen, I just wanted to share that when a palette has dark shimmer shades, I use them for the outer edge just like a matte. I also use them as eyeliner. Your eyes look came out very pretty. 💚
If doing the bridal and daily makeup, maybe the CP Smoke n Roses palette is a better deal than the Sydney Grace one, in the perspective of the shade range. But this transfer-proof formula is perfect for brides.
I just LOVE when I see a new video from you Jen ❤ Your content is fabulous and your makeup tutorials are so informative but most of all I just really enjoy you! All of these products look really beautiful on you, Jen! Thanks so very much for reviewing these products (especially those from Revolution, as I’m always keeping an eye out for more budget-friendly options). Hope you’re having a great start to your weekend! 😇💕🕊️
I get what you mean about the lightest shimmer eyeshadow shade leaning toward white, but your eye look is beautiful! I agree, though, that the selection of shimmer shades isn't what we might hope for. Thanks, always, for your thorough reviews. I'm going to have to decide which of the foundations to try!
I actually think the eye look is pretty on you. I also prefer light shimmers for my lids. I just figured I would swap out those dark ones with some of my favorite SG light shimmers. I know that sort of defeats the purpose, but that was my thinking.
My resolution this year was no more make-up until I use my existing items up - maybe in 25 years. I did break down and buy ND mini palette (cannot remember the name) and corresponding blush.. Not sure if you or Kelly recommended these products and I love them. Maybe next month, no make-up purchases.
I too love Sydney Grace @ have mature hooded slightly down turned eyes. I’ve used their darker satins and shimmers o my outer 7. I just have to be careful. I find all their Matt’s are very pigment & still blend well. I have to us a light hand or it can get very Smokey. I’ve put myself on a no buy for 2024. It’s killing me to pass on their bundles. Such a great deal and the sticker are the icing on the cake. I o n a lot of their singles and will use the. With this pallet providing it’s still in stock
I have a few new things I was influenced by social media to buy - Rose Inc Serum tint, Merit correction/foundation stick, Givenchy Prisma Libre powder, Hourglass waterproof eyeliner, NARS and Rare Beauty liquid blushes, Jane Iredale powder foundation, Huda One Coat Wow mascara, and Skin1004 sunscreen. I love everything but the Rose Inc tint and the Merit.
I have so many Sydney Grace palettes and singles but they oddly turn warm on me. I passed on Unveiled. But I have to say it’s doing right by you. Your eyes are stunning!
You inspired me to order some of the fun Moira shadows from an earlier video, as a birthday present to me ;) I’m not sure I’d have tried an olive-y green, pink/orange, or metallic taupe otherwise (not together haha). It’s a milestone (starts w a 5 🙃) birthday so why not have fun.
your eye shadow is absolutely gorgeous. Its goes perfect with the sweater you are wearing. The shimmer that you thought looked white looked pink to me especially with the purple sweater
This palette of eyeshadows is so stunning and amazing 😍🤩. I will add my list, when I will go in Canada. The blending is so nice 🙂. Have a nice day/night ☺️. Love from Greece ❤️🙂.
Hi Jen! I loved the whole look on you! I hadn’t heard of the new Sydney grace palette. It’s beautiful.. it somehow seems similar to a recent palette of Colour pop. Thanks for the review!
I love love love all of the winky lux cream blushes too. The rose shaped ones? I bought one on sale (and they qualify for the Ulta coupon) thinking it would be all about the interesting packaging and WOW. This is a very sophisticated formula and color. Can’t wait to try these new blushes
This is the first SG palette I haven’t purchased on launch day. It’s beautiful, though. I will probably pick it up the next time they have a sale, but I felt I could wait for it.
Would you be open to doing check-ins up close outside in daylight? While I do appreciate you going up close with the camera the studio lighting still has a blurring effect so its hard to see what the makeup really looks like on pores and lines. I have seen another youtuber do this and it was sooo helpful. I could see what it looks like in real life. I mean no disrespect at all. I absolutely love your honest reviews and that you don't do sponsorships❤
❤I really want to try the Revolution Skin Silk foundation, but the only thing I'm waiting hit is an update from you to see if it's really a good one. I trust your recommendations. I've been using Haimish BB Cream in 23c and it's been my HG.
Hi Jen. I’m in your camp and prefer lighter shimmers for my lids and very light-mid tone mattes on the crease. Dark colors are for liner or very subtly shading the outer corner. I also don’t like frosty white shades as I’m too pale with dark circles and need peachy or pinky tints to help color correct. Anyway, this SG palette would a pass for me even if I weren’t on a no buy for 2024.
I’ve seen people review that palette and really like it, but your review hit the nail on the head for me. I feel like we have similar taste in makeup (hence why I’m here 😂) so that was super helpful!!
I’m amazed at how differently the makeup looks during application and then in daylight. I really don’t trust how shades really truly are unless I see it in real light rather than under bright camera type lights!
Indoor lighting always looks different (even without bright camera lights). It's more yellow and warm because I often do my makeup in the bathroom mirror and then I go outside and it looks different in the sunlight. I do think that the outdoor lighting washes things out for the camera so you can't really trust that either. When I was sitting in my car, the lighting made my makeup look very faded on camera but in real life it looked bolder and more intense.
I’m very oily and all foundations from makeup revolution is too drying for me. I am shocked about this new foundation. I thought it looked better then the Laura Mercier foundation. Of course it will be a pass for me since I am very oily. The palette is pretty. Seeing the swatches I have colors like those already in my collection. This yr I’m being very picky about eyeshadow palettes I buy. I have so many with similar colors. The lip product I am very impressed by. I will definitely check that out.
Great video! The palette looked so beautiful when you first showed it. But, I really appreciate your honest take on it, which will save some of us some money! I buy very few palettes but I bought the Petals En Pointe palette from Colourpop and it looks like it has some similar colors as the palette you showed here. It's not too expensive. It has one deeper shimmer, but two other light ones that look really beautiful.
Shimmers are my favorite. I don’t like mattes except to use as a base color. That palette won’t work for me unfortunately. You created a beautiful look with it for sure.
You created a pretty look. I’m not a fan of dark shimmers either. I feel like the Valentine palette with the XOs from a few years back also had dark shimmers and the shimmer shadows didn’t feel foiled.
Hey I got my ulta foundation and the Florence blush stick in Mimi and I LOVE them! BTW that foundation is on sale online only. I went to store to check for right shade then ordered online--I think its 9.80 instead of 15. Thanks for your recommendations
Bronzing is to add warmth and sculpt cheeks (aka shape). Blush is to add colour to cheeks and sculpt cheeks (aka shape). Contour is to add colour and depth to the cheeks and is sculpting (aka shape) …..all these colours used are sculpting (shaping) the face. Contour is not the only face product that sculpts…..
So glad I saw this review first. I love neutral palettes so I almost impulse bought, what stopped me is it looked similar to the Natasha denona I need a nude palette that I got for Christmas. Glad I didn’t purchase! I don’t like frosty either.
Same happened to me..! At first, I wanted to get it right away. But I looked closely at the colors and watched some reviews... I mean, do not get me wrong, I love SG's formula, but this eyeshadow pallette is not my favorite, fortunately for my pocket.😂
As the others have said, your eye look is very nice even if it’s not your favorite colors in the palette. I also like your sweater. If possible, please share information where to purchase the sweater. Thank you
UPDATE: I tried the winky lux Amalfi bronzer for the first time today and Jen is right: soooo nice, shows up, blended easily with my BK beauty brush. Try it!❤
Seeing the revolution lip stains, i was wondering if youd tried the colorpop glossy lip stains. They are my favorite lip formula, and i love the shade big apple, which is a cool red. i think youd like the pink shade they have, called ice pop.
I’ve noticed the mua I watch regularly have been using bronzer as a contour as well as for warming up the skin. Something else I have noticed is when they also do a high end vs drug store, I like the look of the drug store side better. I have one more higher end foundation I want to try before I give up on higher end all together. Thank you for the video.
Oh wow! Oh I just love shimmers. One thing that I did this week was after applying my crease & outer corner shade, I applied 3 shimmer shades on the rest of my eyelid. I used a deeper shimmer near the outer corner, then a med color shimmer in the middle, then a light shimmer at the very inner corner. It was ombre & so beautiful. You could try that w/ this palette, even w/ just 2 shimmers. Thank you for being here with us !

How did I not get this notification??! Well I'm here for this, yess a Jen vid! 🎉❤ that SG palette makes me think of Colourpop 11:11!
I can always tell when RUclips doesn't send out notifications because my views end up being low...ugh!
@JenPhelps ughh!!!! That's awful....they need to get it together! You're the one beauty YT'er I never miss a video for!!!
I added some pink matte shade to it to tone it down but at first it looked more white. :)
Your eye makeup looks amazing!! I think it is your best eye look.
This palette of eyeshadows is so stunning and amazing 😍🤩. I will add my list, when I will go in Canada. The blending is so nice 🙂. Have a nice day/night ☺️. Love from Greece ❤️🙂.
That eye look is stunning!
Yay, another video from Jen! ❤️
Hi, l love the Laura Mercer foundation, l have been using it for over 2 weeks now and I love it, hugsssss ❤❤
Your eyeshadow looks very pretty 🤩
Try the dark shimmer shades on your outer corner you may like it
This is the first SG palette I haven’t purchased on launch day. It’s beautiful, though. I will probably pick it up the next time they have a sale, but I felt I could wait for it.
Love that lip shade on you!
This is such a pretty look on you! Really loving that lip color.
The Sydney Grace palette reminds me of a palette that Carli Bybel had with bh cosmetics way back.
YES!!
@@JenPhelps yes, it’s hard to gauge as to whether or not to purchase.
I know that you were not thrilled with the shimmer shade that you used, but it looks beautiful on you!
Shimmers are my favorite. I don’t like mattes except to use as a base color. That palette won’t work for me unfortunately. You created a beautiful look with it for sure.
LOVE the eye look you created in this video!
You created a pretty look. I’m not a fan of dark shimmers either. I feel like the Valentine palette with the XOs from a few years back also had dark shimmers and the shimmer shadows didn’t feel foiled.
The Revolution foundation looked great.
Hey I got my ulta foundation and the Florence blush stick in Mimi and I LOVE them! BTW that foundation is on sale online only. I went to store to check for right shade then ordered online--I think its 9.80 instead of 15. Thanks for your recommendations
I’m actually here because I don’t have any friends IRL🫣 and you seem to be one of the sweetest and most genuine on YT. ☺️
Your eye shadow looked beautiful on you and so did the Revolution foundation!
What a beautiful look and again I learn so much from you. Thanks!
I bought the covergirl skin perfection essence as per your recommendation and love it on my 72 combo skin thanks
Yay! I'm so glad!!
Ohhhh…I’m going to try the lip product. I prefer a matte lip because it doesn’t transfer.
These start out a little glossy but then they stay matte all day once the glossiness wears away.
I’ve never tried anything from WinkyLux but wow, the bronzer and blush look gorgeous ❤
I do like using shimmers on the outer corner so I definitely will. I just wish there were more light ones for my lid. 😥
