However, I did make sure that the bar was not touching the connector on the right (tried to force it down). When I reconnected the board and plugged in the dryer, presto, the dryer was functioning properly again.
Brilliant! Bought new refrigerator since all said a new board was needed which was expensive. Later I saw it was probably a relay for the defroster had gotten stuck. A cheap fix. Those moving parts fail first. Now you have shown a way to re-rig a bad relay. I will recommend that when my friends' appliances go down. Thanks for the great video lesson.

Thank you. This allowed for verifying where the problem is and a resolution. I plan to get a new board for replacement, but now I have time to budget that. Please keep uploading.
This did the trick. My control board had a large white plastic cover and the relay could not be accessed. On the outside of plastic housing I used a sharpie to mark an area that could be cut out to create an opening to access the relay. Then i used a dremel mototool with a disc cutter to remove the window.. once opened, i used the dremel to cut across the top of side of relay. Then the side was very easy to remove by snapping off. I unstuck the relay with small screwdriver and now works perfectly. no need to remove the control board for access. Hope this helps someone, Thank to the person who did original video. mk
The relay is actually pretty easy to replace if you have a few tools handy, which I'll describe. Yes the board is potted in the rubbery compound and removal of entire board will be near impossible without damage, however! You can use a Dremel with small cutting disc to cut the white plastic housing just below the relay (roughly a 2” x 3” piece), carefully pry said white plastic piece off, then you can take a flat head screwdriver and carefully pick the rubbery potting off the board that is covering the relays solder joints. Do not cut too deep, just until you cut through the white plastic, and do not damage the board when picking off the potting. You could use a hacksaw for this as well though more work, and perhaps the razor blade as well if you don't have the Dremel like tool. This is easier than it may sound and only takes about 5 minutes to do, about as difficult as cutting the side of the relay off. You can then unsolder the relay as normal. Note that I use the small screw driver to score the rubbery potting around the relay body as best I can to aid in removal. The relay then comes out with a bit of wiggling back and forth. Then install a new relay which are easy to buy. I’ve taken the relay out of two boards like this with no damage other than cutting the housing to access the relay solder pads. You can then seal it back up with some silicone sealant if you desire (perhaps something like GE Silicone II), which will also hold the white plastic piece you cut out back in. I have cut open relays in the past like shown in the video, cleaned the contacts and made them work again, so this certainly can work, but once the contacts are compromised I’d rather replace when possible. Just thought I'd add this in case anyone sees it and wants to actually replace the relay.
I can certify that your solution is exactly what the technicians in my country are doing... they charge 260$ for that job basically and tell you that the board cost 360-380$ and takes 2-3 weeks to arrive
@@zeratul600 I’ll say it is a perfectly viable repair and should last year’s once a new relay is installed, assuming it is just the relay at fault, and done carefully. The last one I did was in a relative’s dryer, and it has been at least 2 years working fine still. The key is being careful and not damaging the board during the procedure. Always a risk when doing such a repair. Sadly the boards are rather costly, and the labor costs add up as well, so just swapping the relay by itself is much more profitable if you can do it without issue, and or cheaper for the end user to DIY at home. I mentioned this solution as it is more of a real permanent repair aimed at DIY that can last years, can be done with relatively simple tools, and the relay is cheap for anybody wanting to save money and do it at home themselves. Of course there can be some cases where the issue is deeper than the relay, so that may not fully fix the problem, it's just that the relay issue in these is very common and the usual culprit.

It works everytime. I did it last year and this year works easy
Nice repair! There is really no reason for them to pot the board in silicon other than to make it difficult for you to repair. You should try not to buy products from companies that go out of their way to make it difficult for you to repair.
I tap the relay with the back of a screwdriver and it must make it click. I have to do this about every couple months. Samsung should recall the whole board. That relay goes bad on all their dryers.
Thanks so much worked just like you said, your instructions were flawless, just saved me a pile of money and at Xmas besides, thanks again Merry Xmas all the best in 2022, stay safe.
My plastic compartment wasn't the 1/4-1/2 " height all around as in this video. It was tall enough to impede peeling the side off the relay and sticking in a blade or small screwdriver. To solve this I cut away the white plastic housing vertically in 2 places with my Dremel tool on either side of the relay switch. I scored horizontally near the base of the relay switch/silicone board so the white plastic housing could fold down like a door. This then allowed me to peel the side of the relay off and insert a small screwdriver. When finished I folded up this little door/tab created. The door/tab area will include the wedge that holds the computer housing in place on the dryer. Not a big deal if it breaks off because the other end of the housing has the screw to hold it in place.
So 1) make sure the little switch can go up and down but leave it down. 2) make sure the pin is not stuck where it’s creating continuity with the contacts. Did I get that right?
My heater wasn't working either, in addition to it continuing to run with the door closed. I did exactly what you said and everything is fixed including the heating component!! Thank you so much.
Very appreciative of the video. For years, I was doing the "tap with a screwdriver" method. Decided to try this because it seemed like a more permanent solution. Unfortunately, the unit won't turn on at all anymore. I followed the instructions from this video verbatim, I grounded myself before attempting this, disconnected the power, was very gentle and ensured the relays were free and clear. Perhaps a word of caution before you begin trying this and brick your dryer like I did.
If dryer does not start it could be motor switch where it goes under the idler pulley, there could be a lot of stuff going on . But this repair was one of the case that dryer won’t shut off . ✌️
@@hameedwafaAFG Thank you Hameed. So surprised (but delighted) to hear from you. The unit was functioning perfectly before attempting this, it just would not stop spinning after the program had completed. All I did was remove a sliver from the front of the relax, exactly as you did in your video and restore the PCB. You still think it's the motor switch? Or is it possible this repair might stop power from flowing all together?
@@pimbrouwers1004 if you open the dryer apart and video call me on Facebook I could help you more . If you are ok working with electricity ⚡️ I could give you more tips . Hameed wafa is my Facebook and my business page is Hameed appliances repair Facebook .
@@hameedwafaAFG That is incredibly kind. I am handy and comfortable working with electricity. I tested the board with my basic voltmeter and confirmed power is making it there. All the relays test positive for current. I recognize this doesn't mean things are good per say. But a useful debugging step.
Hello, thank you very much for the good video, you saved me, but I'm looking for the relay to buy it since I don't know if the problem returns in the future, but I can't find any store that sells it, by chance do you know where I can buy it, this is the data of my relay, Golden C1804-24C2 25a 250vac
Instead of cutting the old relay open, could you purchase a new relay and simply leave the old relay in and plug the new relay in? Or is the relay hard soldered underneath somehow?
thank you ...that's what I was thinking. Simple tapping solved the issue probably temporarily. If it fails again I will slice open with razor or Drexel and clean contacts and apply electrical ontact grease
@@hameedwafaAFG whoa bro, thank you so much for answering!!! I imagined that. Right now the owners of the dryer payed someone to fix the board, the cut it from below the plastic cover that holds the circuit board, my guess is that they did use a dremel, and from there desolded the faulty relay and change it, but they did screw something, because the dryer now dont do the automatic turning when closing the door, but now it doesn't starts turning, and i overheard the technician talking toe engineer who fix it saying something like the relay isn't activating, so he took back the board to the workshop... Again Thank you for this video, this made me be able to be informed of the fault and not get scammed with the repair or something
Most likely your control board could be moisture sensor . It can also be ventilation hose , if moisture is not going out dryer would run forever until moisture gets out of the system .

So
1) make sure the little switch can go up and down but leave it down.
2) make sure the pin is not stuck where it’s creating continuity with the contacts.
Did I get that right?
Ok we followed your suggestion and the dryer started for a few seconds then it stopped with a thud. What do you think the problem is?
I am going to try that, you explained it so good thank you, but could that also be affecting the heating???
Yes it will also affect the heater
My heater wasn't working either, in addition to it continuing to run with the door closed. I did exactly what you said and everything is fixed including the heating component!! Thank you so much.
I m glad it’s fixed!
Jazakallah Khair very good informative vedeo
I m glad it helped you brother ✌️
Fuck yeah, thanks for this bro. I was a fair bit apprehensive doing this but it worked like a charm and saved me a bunch of money.
Thank you very much and very easy to understand
My pleasure!
Hameed, you rock. Thank you.
Right on, my men. It worked.
Thank you. Was able to tap on it with a screw driver and get it to work
you are very welcome !
Amazing! Not handy at all and you saved me!
Thank you very much, it worked for my dryer as well
The proper way to repair this to replace the control board!
Proper way is to replace relay only , if you don’t care about $ yes replace control board 😀
Perfect solution for my problem. Thanks for the massive $$$ savings
You saved me $200
! Thanks! :-)
No . If that’s the case you need to replace control board relay completely. It would fix it ✌️
@@hameedwafaAFG That is incredibly kind. I am handy and comfortable working with electricity. I tested the board with my basic voltmeter and confirmed power is making it there. All the relays test positive for current. I recognize this doesn't mean things are good per say. But a useful debugging step.
Try a screwdriver called a 7 level to point good video
Thank you 🙏
Hello, thank you very much for the good video, you saved me, but I'm looking for the relay to buy it since I don't know if the problem returns in the future, but I can't find any store that sells it, by chance do you know where I can buy it, this is the data of my relay, Golden C1804-24C2 25a 250vac
I would try Digi-Key
I looked for it there I can't find it
Pude solucionar el problema gracias a este video 😊
Thanks Hameed. FYI, tapping the connectors with a screwdriver instead of cutting it open worked for me.
Yes but if you don't open and clean it, it will happen again ✌️
Really appreciate it works
Thank you bhai ji for following me ☺️
Just fixed! Thanks for the tip!!
Thanks.fixed mine.
That’s awesome ✌️
Amazing, thank you for sharing!
My pleasure 😀
Thank you Hameed!
Instead of cutting the old relay open, could you purchase a new relay and simply leave the old relay in and plug the new relay in? Or is the relay hard soldered underneath somehow?
Unfortunately you can not solder new relay easily because the way they add extra silicone gel
thank you ...that's what I was thinking. Simple tapping solved the issue probably temporarily. If it fails again I will slice open with razor or Drexel and clean contacts and apply electrical ontact grease
Thanks my dryer works now. Quick question, Do I need to wrap that relay with electrical tape or is it safe to leave it exposed?
Good question that's what I was worried about. I haven't done the whole thing just yet but it's a valid question
Id do it to be safe
Thank you! This does work! 👍🏼
Nice work!
Thankx!
I got one question, cant you just put a non flammable piece to stuck the relay in the middle? or the relay needs to be able to go up and down?
Relay needs to go up and down . I do not recommend getting anything stuck in there safety reason .
I have the same model, do you know why it doesn't stop by itself? it just keep going, sometimes for hours if i forgot about it?
Most likely your control board could be moisture sensor . It can also be ventilation hose , if moisture is not going out dryer would run forever until moisture gets out of the system .
Thank you so so much!!! This worked!!!
I had the same problem and I found a video showing how to fixed it I said to myself no my dryer is a year new. I called Samsung they said 90% it is the build up of lint in the lint compartment. They said vaccum all out and WA LA!!! It work again!! .
I m glad to hear that. ,
Thank you for sharing it . Someone else would also do this ✌️
Thanx worked great
Thank you hameed for your video, my Samsung dryer displays is not working ( it is dark ) how I can fix that, but the dryer still works
Works perfectly
Thanks on the tip
yeh!
Thanks
Thank you
Thank you..🤗
You are very welcome 🤗
