Because people are buying into this whole electric thing. In my opinion, hydrogen powered engines make way more sense then a super heavy electric car that takes so much pollution and resources to make. On top of that, when they catch fire it's almost impossible to put them out.
Then you throw in the disposal of these enormous batteries and the fact that they don't go very far without needing another charge with the very few charging stations that take forever to complete a charge.

  • @terbennett
    @terbennett 2 года назад +73

Hey. The reason the BRZ has is low on power is because of Toyota's obsession with reliability. Their standards are very high, so Subaru did it's best to meet them. The non-STI WRX has the turbocharged version of the BRZ's FA engine and they seem to be a lot more reliable than the STIs in stock form. STIs are fun to drive, but that EJ engine is a dinosaur and they aren't that reliable.. In 2004, it put out 300 hp. That one puts out 315hp. Not much when the basr WRX went from 227 in 2004 to 268 by 2021. I don't mean to rain on his parade, but I owned 2018. No longer.
I now drive a Camry. You can't responsibly use the car the way it's meant to be driven unless you're tracking it.
By the way, you should never use 87 on any WRX. Premium fuel is mandatory.

Provided you change the oil and coolant on the STI's regularly, the cars will last many years problem free. I have owned several Subaru automobiles and thought they were very sound cars. My last one was the the limited edition 2007 STI limited in gunmetal. One thing to note, the head gaskets are prone to leaking, even on brand new cars so with every coolant change Subaru automatically places two quarter size "STOP LEAK" pellets into the coolant. This is done to correct tolerances with the head gaskets and to keep the system properly sealed. I'm shocked at this and you would think that Subaru would have solved these issues over the years but they have not. The good news is that provided you follow this protocol, hopefully you will not experience any head gasket failure. Its a small price to pay for such great performance.

Those prop rods definitely come in handy in the northern states where it gets so cold that those hood struts don’t last long 😂😂🤣🤣

Another option to Subaru, is the new Toyota GR Corolla Hatchback. It's AWD, 300HP, and has 4 doors. Pricing is estimated to be comparable to the WRX, mid- 30's for Core edition and low 40's for Circuit edition.

Incredibly sad Subaru killed the STI. As an STI owner I’m sad as hell. I only put 93 in mine and it’s been incredibly reliable for the 11k miles I’ve owned it

I have a 13 hatch and miss the Subaru sound. I took the unequal manifold off and put a killer B on. Love the torque and heat off number two and four but it sounds like a deep Honda.

every car company that's trying to shove their ICE vehicles to the side in favor of EV by 2030 should disappear as well. And when they overproduce and fail to sell those I don't want to hear about a bailout, let them disappear.

Seems like car manufacturers are using the word SPORT to be BASIC. Look at the Jeep line up. The Sport Wrangler doesn’t even have power windows as standard.

I don't consider any sports type car to be driven fast honestly, if I had a mustang or a challenger I'd drive slow and speed limit. People who gets sports type car and so burnouts and try to race other people are just pissing their money down the toilet. I would want my sports car to last just as long as all other vehicles well over a million miles with basic maintenance

Why get a fast car if you cant go fast and have fun? I get what you’re saying but if I want to go the speed limit I’ll buy a civic

@@xBeeGee Honestly some people find joy in just cruising and not ever pushing their fast car and thats totally fine. You cant go fast in a "fast" car legally in most situations so it can get quite stale. Thats why slow car fast is king. I can absolutely floor my 03 Civic and be within speed limit anywhere I go but my STI... nope lol

After owning one for 10 years, it isn't worth the money for the maintenance, the required $700 every 30,000 miles got old after a while plus the oil issues and head gasket problem that Subaru refuses to fix just turned me off from Subaru. I went back to a regular front wheel drive and haven't missed it.

Come on, Scotty. you've always been down on Subarus, and with good reason.
Now all of a sudden you like the WRX? It sounds like a blender full of nuts and bolts,
it gets lousy gas mileage, the insurance premiums are high, the cops pull you over
all the time, you can't get to anything under the hood, its so crowded, rear wheel bearings are a bear to replace, you can't just buy one or two new tires, you've got to buy a set of four,
and on it goes. If I had to choose between the two, I'd get the BRZ, not the WRX. Its a lot
cheaper, its more fun to drive, the insurance is less, fuel economy is better, etc.
All you're going to get with a WRX, is a thick stack of speeding tickets from the troopers
who are driving Chargers with the Hemi V-8, which can outrun the WRX anyway.

I don't like subarus, but I see the appeal for New England driving. You can't get the RWD one unless you have a 2nd vehicle for snow around here. Also I think most cops will pull you over if you are speeding regardless of what you drive, I find that a disingenuous argument. The radar/lidar shows the speed WAY before they can tell what kind of car it is. That said I went with a AWD Lexus and couldn't be happier. No turbo's to worry about rebuilding at 100,000 miles and a whole lot more comfortable
