As a kid in the 80s the old boiler was a block of cast iron with a control valve that hung down by the wires. And it was bomb proof . Not a curcuit board or sensor in site.

My go to cheap boiler is the main eco compact. About the same price as the glowworm but you get much more for your money. Fitted a navien recently and that was also fairly decent for the money, just didn't like the exposed valves on the bottom of it.
And just a slight correction on the 830 at screwfix, it's the combi2 which is compatible with both natural gas and lpg out the box but I admit screwfix's wording do make you think it's an lpg boiler.

After having a Viessmann 200W for nearly 14 years & loving the reliability, I won't even think of going to anyone else's boiler manufacturer, well built well designed for ease of service, if i was a plumber heating engineer I wouldn't think of installing any other makes, would make my life easy with happy satisfied customers 👍 I worked in the Aerospace Defence Manufacturing industry as a qualification verification test engineer, I'm very fussy when it comes to quality & performance,

My cheap goto boiler + flue is an alpha e-tec 28 KW from Wolsley with a 7 year warranty for £710 incl vat. It's a decent boiler and even has a stainless steel heat exchanger. PRV is built into the condense so one less thing to do!

Vokera easiheat ? Is cheap and 7 yr warranty apparently. Before everything kicks off about them , in 1997 i went to get a vertical fan flued system boiler like Derek did to takeaway. All i could get was a Vokera Mynute. It is still on the wall and since 1997 it has had two control boxes swapped as they had intermittent faults , a limit stat and even the original pump only stopped in July 2023 so its been great bearing in mind i had my doubts about it .
It may be going this summer tnough for a viessman 111 w if I can find someone to do it🤷

Having ebus means we are snookerd into having to fit manufacturers own controls (Valiant/GW) which means it's not a cheap option after all. Most people on a tight budget will fit a third party cheap thermostat and not be able to take advantage of opentherm. They would be better off getting a slightly more expensive boiler that has OT capabilities.

I’m now retired but still enjoy your honest down to earth utube content. I use to work for Glowworm/ Vaillant so I’ve worked on most if not all there boilers new and old. Never been a fan of plastic manifolds on Glowworm or any other manufacturer but I’ve got to say Glowworm aren’t the worst. I’m impressed with the addition of a stainless steel heat exchanger on such a budget boiler so to me that’s a plus. The aluminium heat exchanger was a pain particularly when the boiler had a few years under its belt , condense water and aluminium don’t mix and most of the problems was caused by the lack of proper strip servicing. The rubber pipe on the AAV was an addition they did a few years ago , it was done to vent any explosive gasses from the heating system outside the boiler casing because I think there was incident were a build up of gas in the room sealed case ignited, but I think the boiler was LPG. Thanks for a great video.

You'll be lucky to get 7 years out of that piece of crap. Gloworm and vokera are the worst boilers on sale in ireland and all our stock comes from the UK. I got a quote for a 24kw worcester system today and it was €1435 inc vat. Youll get twice the lifespan at least with this boiler. Ideal are the best value option and they give a 7 year warranty on there Logic model. Baxi are also good value. The boilers that i replace in dublin are either 30 year old bulletproof pottertons or vokeras and gloworm pieces of crap. The best advice is dont buy the cheapest boiler on the market unless you want to pay more money for parts or a replacement.

@davidlewi1313 I've a greenstar which is 13 years old and the only thing wrong with it is the expansion vessel. I very rarely change parts on worcesters. Viessman is the best but I'd highly recommend worcester.

Worchester Bosch Full of plastic, rubber gas valve connection to fan, prv a nightmare to access, flow turbine leaks very common that’s why they put green cap below flow turbine, internal filling loop crap.

why are you buying boilers i see your wearing an ideal coat couldnt the ideal rep or another manufacturer have given you a boiler so they can wreck? so lpg or nat gas can you find out for me if the flue seals are different. ive found running glowworm aka vaillant (both acctually)at low temps but within MI tollerances in the past have been problematic. they changed flue seals from black to a red more silicone based seal? then ammended the MI to say the boilers shouldnt be run below a certain temp. you are at a guess running on lpg at your test center. or nat gas?
was that all plastic i could see under the boiler and you said no tails. zee germans eh. press fit how long do the rubber seals last? ebus too i thought everyone while we were in eupore agreed to the same. am i right in thinking ebus is only supplied by germans. is bosch on ebus too or is that something else? ie do they lock customers in to boiler products only supplied by them, with
    inerent flaws they only know.
edit. do you stick it on the wall or take it back to mr evans ceo of city plumbing supplies. box it up and send it back. i see you unboxed it very carefully.

@@robertallardice8119 The Vokera has lots of redeeming features & a rock bottom price!!
I also like the Main Eco Compact & the WB Greenstar 1000. A few of the National merchants were selling the WB 1000 very cheap. But I guess it depends on their stock & your Merchant Terms.

I think Vokera give a 7 year warranty with that boiler so it's well worth buying. The money you saved in not going with Valiant or WB you can throw it away after 7 years and buy another one.
