During my senior year in high school our principal put out an announcement that they were canceling senior skip day and anyone who skipped would not be allowed to walk at graduation. Well our senior class decided to call his bluff...not only did the ENTIRE class skip, we went to six flags that day and we took all the senior teachers with us lmao. I worked in the office in the morning so the next day I wrote excused absence notes for everyone...rotflmao we all had notes from our parents saying we were sick so the principal couldn't do anything to us.

My cousin won full custody because of his ex and her parental alienation. She kept telling them that he didn’t care about them,He didn’t want to send the money, and he didn’t want to see them because he was spending time with his girlfriend.
It did not help she took them out of state and would not let him see the kids whatsoever. She literally drained over $2000 from his bank account and started telling everybody her boyfriend had to give her money because he wouldn’t give her any child support.
This is why you don't cover for your ex. They will always spin it.

But the 15 and 17 are old enough to know what they're doing and never even gave their mom a chance to respond/defend herself against whatever they were told. I think it's crazy that we're debating if OP should go for full custody or not. The mistress lost her kids because of a DUI with one of her kids with her and as the stepmom of OP's kids, she is equally as likely to be driving with those kids as well. Granted with a DUI her driving is probably suspended but that doesn't mean she isn't still driving. It's a danger to OP's children as well.

Story 1. OP needs to get full custody. In my opinion, the ex-husband is jealous she moved on with an great guy. If he had been a down grade ex- hubby, probably wouldn't care. The ex-wife is definitely jealous because her ex husband is happy. She probably regrets cheating with OP ex husband in the first place. Shes trying hard to pretend they are the perfect blended family.
To tell the youngest may be son of Terry because of an affair, not only alienate the boys to the mother, but the two oldest toward the youngest too. It's such a shitty move that Kevin should've gotten a big fat consequence by court for doing. This was also told in a therapist office who can objectively testify if demanded.

Story 1 : my parents did this when I was 3! Not 100% sure on the logistics (my stepmoms dad owned a swingers club soooo) but my dad married the lady in the other couple while my mom married the guy. They both then had babies 11 months apart, giving me and my older brother a new brother AND sister. We also ALL went on a trip to DisneyWorld when I was 10. Same car, same rental, they used to all get along so well.
My dad and stepmoms marriage ended when I was like 12 and my moms lasted until I was 18-19?
My step mom passed away when my sister was 17 but I still see my stepdad every now and then!

there was no senior skip day at my high school, but it was also a vocational tech school where most seniors were on work study or concurrent enrollment at the community college.

My mom wanted to call me out for senior skip day but I wouldn't let her because that defeated the entire purpose. A crao ton of people skipped but apparently were wusses and had their moms call in. Therefore I and only a few others were sent to in-school suspension. Basically I got to read and do whatever I wanted all day long and I was taken out to play the piano for the National Honor Society teacher luncheon.😂

NTA. It is hard to have your kids manipulated but they will get through it over time. And the older they get the more they will start to understand. I don’t understand why the family is so upset.

I'm 100% sure that he will lie to them about their mom. Even if she shows up, even if she writes letter or drops stuff off, their father more than likely will lie about it or tell them not to talk to her at all, which will equally make them feel like shit because they don't know who to listen to. Definitely not the AH. My uncle is going through this right now, he raised my cousin unt he was 12 and when my ex-aunt kicked out my uncle and got pissed off that he didn't go back(18+hr drive back home, in the middle of covid). She's manipulated a lot of the situation and it's unfortunate, but all we can do is wait for the court and time to let my younger cousins realize what his mom has done by ruining his relationship to his dad. It's absolutely heartbreaking but all she can do is be there if/when they decide to reach out again

Story 1: Poor terry having his neck broken by a chiropractor, wich makes me so mad.
My father was murdered by a chiropractor when I was only 11 years old (29 now). He went to a chiropractor since he had some pain in his upper back, after his session he went back home and noticed the pain was getting worse so he went back but collapsed at the steps of the chiro office and was sent off to the hospital. Turns out the chiro broke a part of his neck wich damaged his nerves and other things wich caused him to become in a vegetative state and other problems wich made him end up on life support. Sadly the doctors said the his brain damage was irreversible and we had the hard choice of taking him off life support to end his suffering.
To that day, anything about chiropractors is a huge no for me.

I took a good long look at Sam when he was being insecure, and I think the problem there is he has nothing particularly distinctive about him. I don't think a beard, mustache or ponytail would work for him either, but maybe long sideburns, You don't have to go the full Asimov, but maybe something like the '70's Elvis type. And of course, if you don't like it it's only one razor blade away.

Just to clarify for you. You can have full physical custody and joint legal custody. My ex and I are 50/50 on all decisions but I technically have full physical custody. Courts are starting to grant custody to the parent that will most likely allow the other parent to be part of the child's life. Meaning, if you say the other parent can't see them or keep them away, you won't look good in court unless you have good reason (I.e. proof of abuse or neglect) my ex has a visitation schedule. It doesn't mean the full custody parent has total control. It just means that's where the child lives and goes to school. And yes if he decides to keep the kids against the custody agreement then the full custody parent can get an emergency court hearing. Custody comes in all shapes and sizes but it should all be based on the best interest of the child...not the parents. And neither parent should poison the child against the other.

Senior skip day, schools always say that to try to get kids to show up. During school hours they're responsible for you so if they know about it they can't support it

Just to clarify a parent can have full custody and have visitation specified in court papers for the other parent. This prevents the other parent from taking the kids. I would definitely have the kids go to therapy so they can talk with someone other than mom and dad about stuff. This would ensure anything with parent is saying to the kids are documented by the therapist and may be used in court for complete custody without court orders visitaion

So while they are upset and trying to learn how to handle our new situation, I will offer counseling. I would never give up on my kids,
Full custody means that you get to have the children and choose and the other party can have time to spend with the child but only under supervision

12:20 I disagree. Your take sounds beautiful but the reality is more in line with what John said. Parents are people too. Kids need to know that parents have feelings and that they should be respectful of them. You wouldn't advise OP to accept the silent treatment from anyone else. If anything, kids doing this to a parent who apparently has been good to them this whole time is even worse. This is an opportunity to teach the importance of getting both sides of a story, understanding that family should have each others back, and still being respectful even when angry.
Kids don't 'grow out' of this kind of behavior. If it's not addressed, they either become adults who use this tactic to get their way, OR her modeling that 'I'll love you through anything' can also model to them that THEY should accept this kind of behavior from someone who mistreats them because they love them.
