    The tips on this video:
    1. Get a respirator - it makes you not feel exhausted afterwards
    2. Get a presto pot
    3. Look into more about gift wrap orders
    4. Have a separate notebook to organise your testing
    5. You don't need to have a big stock of each scent all the time
    6. Have custom blends
    7. Have multiple suppliers
    8. Look into the fees of your selling platform and put that in the price of your candles
    9. Talk to a CPA for bookkeeping and taxes

    I just don’t understand why some people have given a thumbs down 👎🏻 on this video? Your advice is so insightful and valuable! And the fact that you’ve been sharing your advice along the way speaks volumes, because so many candle makers act so secretive about their processes - almost like they want other candle makers to struggle and spend a ton of wasted time and money on learning. I’ll never understand that mentality, it seems very selfish to me! You are truly a gem, and the most giving kind of person for wanting to share all of your knowledge. ❤️

      I wish people realized how toxic "fragrance" is. Not just in candles but in almost everything. I'm super duper sensitive to fragrances/harsh chemicals & though it can be annoying sometimes or people think I'm being difficult, I've learned to be grateful that my body is so quick to alert me when I'm in contact with/breathing in harmful chemicals.

I do not like burning candles in my home, except pure bee wax tea candles, just intuitively. Much luck

      @merendofamily 2 года назад

      Why does making candles effect your lungs?

    • @jms9057
      @jms9057 2 года назад

      @@merendofamily There's a huge difference between what off-gasses from a finished candle when you burn it, and what off-gasses from the ingredients when they're all hot, liquid, and higher volume. The saturation of what you're breathing in during the manufacturing process is much, much higher, and can contain different gasses and particles than what is in the finished product (due to chemical changes, etc). A fragrance that is "safe" to breathe when released during candle burn can be really harmful when breathed in while mixing batches, due to the difference in volume of the chemicals. Read the MSDS for your ingredients - you'd be surprised how nasty they can be at batch volume! Really, though, there's just no reason not to protect your lungs when you're doing anything that could cause you to breathe in gases or particles that aren't in what is considered normal, clean air. Lung issues are no joke!

    I keep all of my recipes in my head. However I do find this video very interesting and it will help many people interested in candle making a head start. Don't give up over 50% of people who get into candle making quit because they can't get the mixture right. One you have to find the right wax. Two all candle vessels are not created equal. Three all fragrances or essential oils have a different flashpoint. Four there are many things to consider what size wick how wide and how to adhere it to the bottom of the vessel. All I can say is test test test! If you do it wrong and hit the flashpoint your candles can explode and start a fire. Practice makes perfect. Good luck.

    I am so happy that you are sharing this! So many people have jumped on the Tumblr bandwagon the epoxy tumbler bandwagon and don't have the common sense to use one of those their health issues are life-changing because they weren't instructed to use a respirator! Well done Erica absolutely well done! In my lifetime at 57 I have learned many things and a young person such as you, you're basically the fountain of youth! My colors are black and white for the two businesses that I'm active in. I also produce white label products and for some reason I was going to go with a mason jar a farmhouse mason jar if I decided to go into candles. There are about three possibly four RUclips content creators that I follow that are using these matte glass candle containers. I want to thank you I have located the manufacturer and I'm excited for my journey I can't wait to see them in person and a finished good! I'm not sure which lid s you use but I did go with the natural bamboo only because it's a renewable resource if that makes any sense to you. Your product photography is way up there very inspiring! And that other video that mentions "Placeit" I guess I just had to have another person's eyes and a different perspective to really point out yeah that does look like a mock-up! So I am currently waiting for my samples and I'm following that up with a very large order! And because of your kindness because of your generosity, you will be getting a case or two from me just because and you can come up with a candle line called random acts of kindness because that's what you do, you have blessed me! I'm originally from the city of Orange in Orange County currently I'm in Michigan! I don't miss the traffic I certainly don't miss the smog and I'm pretty sure there's residual cow smell going through Riverside out to where you live I just can't do that anymore! Glad to support a fellow Californian even though I live in Michigan and if you get a Patreon shout it out girl let me sign up! Again thanks for all you do!
    Edit: Can you give the dimensions of the candle on the desk it is cuter than cute, the mfg has a set of three of those in packaging and I am looking into those along with their corresponding boxes.

    Took me a full year to launch . Just launched 2weeks ago and have had 10 sales and now I have a few shelves in a store. I only sell locally and dont even ship . I hate using fragrances and I am extremely sensitive to smell as well ... I leave the window open and fan on ... I might buy a respirator.... main thing I wish I knew was to pay attention to the flashpoint when using fragrance oils . Havent perfected pure essential oils but it's my goal this year . Good suggestion on the respirator!!

    Thing I hate most about the suppliers is that lots of natural waxes are some kind of secret blend, and tho you cannot be replace with an alternative without testing. Also the suppliers can deliver anything they want since there are no clear ingredients, and if they are we cannot test it.. I think they can sell Soy-wax with 70% paraffin wax and still call it Soy.
    They can start with 50% soy and 50% Parafine and nothing stopping them for going towards 30/70 if they cannot get the soy.
    Meanwhile we are all asking ourself why our candles aren't burning like they should. I definitely would be interested in mixing my own blend from pure ingredients.

    Be very careful with fragrance oils in large quantities, both on your skin and in your lungs.
    Not only are they flammable, but also can be toxic. Check SDS sheets on manufacturers websites.
    Try to use as much ventilation as you can especially if you’re working out of your home.
    Fumes can get sucked into your HVAC system and pump fragrance fumes around your house haha
    Depending on how small the room is you may want the larger organic vapor cartridge filters

    I like my presto pot but idk I have been having trouble with the net weight coming out accurate when I use it. My process is to melt the wax, then pour the amount I need into the pouring pot, add the require FO but when I pour into the jars, the weight is off sometimes by 10 grams. Ive changed my scales, kitchen and pocket scale but I’m still having the same issue. It’s stressing me out a LOT. Other than that, the idea of the time it saves is on point.

    6:40 ... I'm dying because I'm the same. Lucky I went and bought a bunch of pocket size sketch books and some Micron pens so I'm dedicating one to my hobby. I usually keep a general version of this, but at 3 finished books of notes, jumping around is difficult.

    Hi there what do you recommend for how to list ounces and grams on a candle in regards to rounding down or rounding up? My candles aren’t exactly the same number every time because I have different scents and it might fluctuate the smallest degree each time I make an individual candle.
