      I completely agree with being polite to each other, and we do have one of the best police forces in the world. But do not equate this situation to people in the street. No UK auditors, argue in a traffic stop, as our traffic laws don’t allow it. UK videos where people are refusing to ID themselves, are legitimate cases of police overstepping the mark and abusing their authority. If this goes unchallenged, you will see how quickly we return to the type of policing that was prevalent when I grew up.

    This is exactly how these situations should go down. Too often I've seen provocative "photographers" in places they know are sensitive, deliberately trying to get a confrontation from the police. They normally respond with all the legal bollocks like "I don't have to ID myself" - "photography is not a crime" and so on.
    It was such a breath of fresh air to see you actually co-operating, as you've nothing to hide, there's no problem telling the police what you're doing and who you are.

I go through some license checks from time to time here in the USA ,don't have any issues here either. Nice Law enforcement officials looking for those who cause problems. All of our Police officers are armed here ,no big deal ( I'm armed too and with my proper paperwork for my firearm).

      @adibabi 5 лет назад +3

      And the police don't have to let you go on your way if you can't prove your are legitimately allowed to be riding the bike you are on. Manners, co-operation and common sense cost nothing.

    • @uktokers
      @uktokers 5 лет назад +2

      How did looking at the photos he’d just taken help verify he was riding the bike legitimately? There were no reasonable grounds for the police to believe everything wasn’t in order, so they couldn’t have stopped him going on his way. They are easily able to check the PNC to see if a vehicle is reported stolen, current registered keeper, insurance, tax, MOT, the drivers driving licence details etc. They didn’t even issue a HO/RT1/ aka producer so can’t have been too concerned about his identity. I agree manners, co-operation and common sense cost nothing and think people should always treat others with respect but remember it works both ways - in situations like this, the police have no right to look at people’s photos or Facebook accounts but by asking for such details, it puts law-abiding people in a difficult position as the majority don’t want confrontation and wish to co-operate with the police so will feel pressured into sharing personal information that they are not obliged to provide (and Facebook isn’t a legitimate way for the police to confirm ones identity anyway).

  • @jcpadmore
    @jcpadmore 4 года назад +1

    The key to this all ending well was that the Police officers were friendly. If they start off friendly then they are far less likely to get someone's back up. The moment they start off with the "What are you doing here? We think you're a criminal" approach that's when people respond badly and it just escalates. They should use this video for training Police officers.

    • @OffbeatRefrigerator
      @OffbeatRefrigerator 4 года назад +1

      Yeah, it's effective with people who don't know better like the author of the video. My point is they are not your friends and are always trying to incriminate you. I cringed throughout the whole thing and had to stop when he let them look through his pictures. Absolutely pathetic.

    • @jcpadmore
      @jcpadmore 4 года назад

      @@OffbeatRefrigerator The Police officer asked to see the photos because clearly the property is a high category location from a National Security perspective. The officer was verifying the veracity of the biker's claims / statements. You are the kind of person who would be the first to criticise the Police if they didn't bother to check the legitimacy of a claim and something bad happened as a result. By the way - "Friendly" doesn't mean "Your friend" - it's a style which is non-threatening and, in this case, it resulted in a very pleasant exchange. It's people like you who prefer to make things difficult for no reason. And don't try denying it - you're doing it on this thread.
