I’m getting this shifter this week. I hate the stock shifter in my 16 scat pack. It only has 33k miles and has been babied to say the least. I always have problems when shifting from 1st into second when pushing it. Sometimes it goes in straight down sometimes it decides it wants to be pushed left and then down. It’s very very unpredictable and inconsistent. I’ve had 6 Manuel cars other then this one and this stock is by far the worst. And I’m a very good shifter, I’ve been driving manual since I was 16 and now 43. 😊I’m looking forward to the consistency.
My car had the Barton shifter, it was crap, very loose, I took it out and put in the Hurst pistol grip, it and it's linkage were actually an available option on the 15.
I'm wondering if the bushings were just worn out. My STI was sloppy like that but the shifter had a lot of miles on it and those bushings do wear out. Mine's a 2015 but I don't remember that option when I ordered it. Maybe I was just too excited to be putting in an order! 😂
I just installed mine this past weekend and I'm still getting used to it. Feels awesome even though I already had the Mopar short shifter. Have you checked out the Speed Dawg shift knobs? They're slightly bigger and feel better in your hand. They look better too, in my opinion.
The picture of the Barton you used is not representative of the hardware they are currently shipping. The fore/aft position of the flat stick is adjustable on the current version. It isn't adjustable on the pictured unit. Barton is still using that old picture on their web site too. The unit I got from Barton in February 2021 is marked "Rev 3" and the way the flat stick mounts and adjusts is the same as their Pistol Grip handle that is shown correctly on their web pages.
Thanks for pointing that out. I think mine is the one pictured though since I've had it on the car since shortly after I bought it in 2015 and I remember it looking similar to that. I don't recall mine being adjustable fore/aft, just left/right. That's really cool though that they kept improving it instead of sitting on their laurels. I remember my initial impression of how solid a unit it was compared to the stock unit when I was swapping it!
@@natesrt I guess if you really had to know you could lift up the just boot. I ordered my Barton the same day I got the car home from the dealer last fall - a 2020 R/T. The stock shifter was so disappointing.
Can you do a video on how to buy and order a hellcat for the best deal possible, and just some advice on insurance and etc I feel like people would love a video like that.
Synchros and lockers is what holds it in gear. Anyways we built a spur cut gear trans got rid of the helico cut shit. I can shit full throttle under load and no grinding.
I put one in my RT. I kind of liked it at first. But i missed my stock shifter. I liked having the extra length and leverage it was easier to shift than that stiff ass barton.
@billhamilton7524 left in the car and got a hellcat. Didn't even care enough to switch it back. I put a Mr. Norms pistol grip shifter in. I'm so much happier with that. Shifts are so smooth and comfortable , and I love it.
I’m thinking of upgrading my stock shifter on my “16 challenger SRT 392. I don’t know anyone with a Barton so I can test it out. Would the Barton take away the experience of driving manual? Will the Barton feel too precise that it’s doing all the work for me? Thanks
Absolutely not. Quite the opposite. It makes it more engaging by eliminating the vagueness in the shifts. It's not doing the work for you but it makes the work you do much more enjoyable and predictable.
It shouldn't and I think an aftermarket shifter is a hard case to make for voiding a warranty. I'm doing a video on this issue in a couple of weeks so stay tuned!
Two main reasons: 1) I really like driving manuals - the car before the Hellcat was a DCT Audi and I got bored of the auto really fast and 2) I had no other choice at the time unless I waited. The allocation was for a manual since they had a shortage of autos. Good thing for me it's exactly what I wanted anyways! 😁
Did you say Skipshift? There is no skip shift in a hellcat my man. mine don't have skip shift. I don't know of anyone who has a skip shift unless it's a Chevy Corvette or Camaro. Lastly, WTF shifter is that junk crap you took out. that's generic as hell and nothing like what mine looks like when I replaced it. Lol
Mine's a 2015 so they still had skip shift with no way to disable. 2017 and up you could disable it by selecting sport, track, or a custom mode in the SRT pages. Interesting that your shifter was different. That's the crap that came out of mine lol. What year is yours?

I haven't yet but it's always been in the back of my mind to get a new shift ball. Thanks for the tip!

Just taking it out of the box for the video reminded me of how disappointing it was!

For sure. I've been through the buying process a bunch of times. I'll tee it up so stay tuned! Love the user name btw 😂

What type of transmission did you swap in? Or it was custom built? And this was for a Hellcat M6?

sell it to me

Will this hurt factory warranty my car only has 800 miles just bought my Barton shifter

For sure it will not affect warranty.
What made you not wanna buy the automatic?

Because he is a driver and not a rider ;
