So did I. I don't think they got a leg to stand on there is a lot longer pause in dua lupas song, and people shouldn't be able to copyright a series of musical notes anyway. Otherwise everyone can sue everyone there is only certain number of musical notes the human ear can ear. Since there is a difference and its not (exact) I say throw the case out.
I didn’t hear it at first, was about to shut the song off and then got to 2:10… lyrics are different but that cadence is identical! This song is def a bop!

I agree it’s a stretch. They’re not just going for the singing fast, but also the descending melodic line, I assume, but I don’t think there’s anything unique about that. Off the top of my head, The Ketchup Song does the same thing, though in a minor rather than major context. I’d bet that for every song ever made, there’s at least one other one out there that has parts with strong similarities.

It doesn't sound like Levitating. But a Spanish singer by the name of Miguel Bose copied this exactly but in Spanish. The Spanish version is called "Don Diablo". Do not know if he gave credit and paid royalty fees but I do know he is suing Dua for a song that wasn't his to begin with 🤦🏻

Oh come on the song is just a regular song but it's obvious the girl took that part. The thing is if you pay attention closely to the Dua's songs you can tell she follows the same rythmical pattern in many of her Songs which makes her career faker than a 75 dollar bill.

It is shameful. Unfortunately they will get money. They do it all the time. Copyright lawyers. They look for a tiny detail they sue important people or companies with lot of money. A lot of times they settle to stop the bad publicity and make it all go away because they don’t care about a little money and they have more important things to do so they pay to have them stop even when there is no merit.

The chord progression and, subsequently, parts of the scale being used by the melody of both songs are radically different. Sorry you can't hear the difference between a major and minor key. Copyright lawsuits like this are the plague of the music industry.

The lawsuit isn’t based on the whole song. It is pinpointing the melodic line of the verse. I think that anyone with working ears would be dishonest to deny the similarity between the two melodic lines. Now, whether this is enough to warrant a lawsuit or not is another subject.

I don't think it's close to Dua's levitating to be honest outside of the rhythm and note pattern (but not same notes) of a 2 measure vocal run that to me isn't all that unique.
