Cory Daye lead vocalist of Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band joins former bandmate Coati Mundi & His Rainbowphonic Band. Cory Daye performs a lovely Latin-Jazzesque rendition of "Sunday Kind of Love". Taken from Coati's promotional music DVD, "The Message: Mambo, Disco, Swing & Hints of Other Things".
Coati Mundi formerly known as "Sugarcoated" Andy was a member of Dr.Buzzard's Original Savannah Band and also Kid Creole & The Coconuts. This is the first time that clips from this live performance DVD have been made available for public viewing.

A real gem. This song as done in this performance always resonates right through me. If I need a little lift to get me going I listen to and watch this video. I was working at a radio station doing an overnight weekend shift trying to stay awake when I found this clip.

I was recording at the same time, in the same studio, The House Of Music, when you all made the first Doctor Buzard album. December 1975. We alternated with you for studio time, recording The Exciters, in West Orange.

Coati. I absolutely love this version and arrangement. Every time I need a little lift, I listen to this song. To me it is just perfect.... horns, percussion, Corey. I especially like when the lead guitar comes in at around 2:37 in. I was also a big fan of Dr B. Thanks for this version, something you should be proud of. Baazooka

I fell in love with this band and its polyglot line-up in its original days. Never was able to fathom how it was not more popular. You were too polished and sophisticated for the simple minds of the disco era.

This was when I was doing Corporate , Private & Special events. Cory would join me as a featured or special guest. Hoping in the near future to start the engine up again with Cory on board. Talk about a match made in heaven. Fantastic band with the adorable Cory Daye. Pick a song that you hate the most in your life and gave it to Cory to sing it you would probably love it afterwards. Everyone from you Coati to Kid Creole and the entire ensemble I want to thank you for showcasing this sound. I must have a million copies of that great album. (Cory, I'm single). Lol
When was this done? I love this. I had the enormous good fortune to have lived in New York in the late 70s through the 80s and got to see Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band in concert at the Ritz. This was 1979, when they had the "...Goes to Washington" album out. That concert was off-the-chain great, one of the Top 5 concerts of my life.
I first, and last, saw Cory live when she performed w/ Kid Creole and the Coconuts during his summertime concert @ the South Street Seaport in NYC during the '80s. She was great then and she's great now. Thanks for the post.
BTW, also great to see Sugarcoated Andy Hernandez and his band!

Great performance! Coati Mundi has put together a very tight band. Cory Daye sounds and looks sensational. Would love to see a lot more of this group.

Yes "yo" he did a great version of this 40's classic song back in the 70's ... heavier on the Salsa groove with Eddie Iglesias on vocals. His band was fantastic and I did know & worked with him. (Bobby & Eddie R.I.P.)
