I would not have thought having the power bias to the rear motor would have helped you at all. There is no drive shaft connecting the motors, the front motor drives the front wheels and the rear motor drives the rear wheels. So when you made the bias 30% front, and 70% rear, I would have thought you were restricting the amount of power the front motor could make, which would have made the car slower. Does anyone know any different, does in fact the front motor still make all of its power in this mode?
Great videos. Two questions, Have you noticed any M3P with lighter wheels running faster times than stock M3Ps? 2: Can you load the system, example, hold the brake while hitting the throttle, then let off the brake when the light turns green. I think the Plaid does this???
I would have to do more testing but that’s quite difficult to do. And #2 I haven’t tried but maybe next time out I can do it, I’d be curious to see if it does anything??
Martian wheels save huge weight. Unsprung rolling weight savings is really effective. I dropped almost 30 lbs per corner and I'm consistently beating rated range. That tells me that it has to be running faster.
Rich, I assume you have a 2022 or 23? I had one but sold it last year specifically due to that issue- the rear motor will start overheating simply by driving it around on a hot day. I thought it was a defect. Come to find out, it is a design flaw- the explanation Tesla gave me was that they put the temp sensor on the bottom of the motor which makes it susceptible to external temps. This didn't fly with me. I just got a '18 Model 3 Performance with FSD- love it, especially when it was half the price of what I paid for the '22. No issues with rear motor overheating in track mode, either.
@@RichOnTrack with all that said, the new one is faster. There is a video where they put an older M3P and the refresh model (the one you have) on the Dyno… the results were intriguing- the old one reached peak HP quicker but tapered off.. the new one maintained more HP throughout

Been watching your videos and you do read your times wrong. The BMW did beat you. He ran a faster time. If he waited 5 seconds to leave and you crossed the line way ahead of him, he still wins if he runs a faster time. His car ran a faster time.
I’ll add to that, reaction time doesn’t matter. In a street race it does because all you see is who crosses the line first, but at the track it’s timed. The fastest car wins.
And you wind the second race btw. Not him. You’re going off of what you see. It’s sortve like when you give them a head start. Even if they cross the line first, you win with a better time.

You have never been to an actual track have you?.. On street car night the track gets eaten up by stock all season tires.. The cars spin.. and its hot, with high D/A and possibly elevation.. I’ve had my m4 Xdrive for 2 years I have yet to even come close to loosing a race to a model 3 perf. Dude can’t launch for shit and car still traps 10-13 mph faster.
Bummer are you in so cal or Vegas by chance ?
@RichOnTrack
Unfortunately not, I’m in Montreal
My model 3 performance ran 11.6 7 times in a row at santapod. It was very consistent so the track must be causing your issues, the other M3P ran a 12.2 thats mad. Check out my two races that people Recorded.. one vs a ferrari on my channel.
Okay!! The heat certainly didn’t help my runs and also the track was probably not well prepped
That m4🙌
In my M3 P by not using track mode I do not spin tires and get a very quick lanunch
I do too but the track was really bad this night. Never had such poor traction before
Homie said "idk if the surface is just not prepped" lmfao. Buddy, you're at a drag strip. The track is definitely prepped. 🤦♂️
Very bad prep my friend, everyone was sliding 😂
Love seeing the Teslas racing together. I want to go there someday.
Come on out if you’re ever in Southern California !
How do you turn on the pre-conditioning
Route to supercharger
Don’t drag race in track mode. Track mode is for longer runs done in road courses.
Used track mode when I raced streets of willow. Such a great time and I only went off a couple times 😅😅
Great video man!
Thank you for watching !!!
@5:39 I stopped the video and haven't watched you vs the M4 yet but since it's super humid and still 99f, I'm think you should beat him. His best is 11.1 but I'm thinking that was probably optimum weather temps (Not tonight) and track conditions. Now..gonna watch.
Thanks for watching! We did 2 races so I hope you enjoy them both
Stop drag racing in track mode. Car is trying to keep the battery cool expecting you to track the car. If anything, it's best to go to supercharger just before the track to get the battery warm.
What's that gong sound I hear? Maybe it is the death knell of the Internal Combustion Engine.
Hah that’s good, thanks for watching 👍
I ran a 11.4 in Sacramento on 92 degree weather . Track mode doesn’t make it faster . But I agree that it helps cool down the battery
Video is on my page . Just lower tire pressures and leave it off track mode
Nice owl sound! Ooh! Oho! Ooh! LOL
Hahahahahaha thanks for watching !!
I love how you always floor it before you even SAY the last mississippi... lol
LOL thanks for watching
Wow, stock M3P kicks ass! Cant wait to see what the new M3 Ludicrous will do !
Same! Should be sub 7 seconds at 1/8 and sub 11 second 1/4
Ford and BMW has real motorsports program and it’s not a backyard motorsports. 1/4 test is just a smidge in measuring real performance. Show Tesla that it can compete in LeMans, a measure of the ultimate automotive engineering.
Bruh, no road car can compete in Lemans and the actual GT3-GT1 cars share very little parts with their road going versions. This is a moot argument.
Can I ask what made you faster than the other M3P? Was it just track mode?
Not really sure to be honest. We both were at similar states of charge and he had lighter wheels too. Both model 3 performance also.
@@RichOnTrack very interesting 🤔 ty!
I was wondering the same thing?
@@mlinder2000 if I had to guess it would be his tires weren’t gripping as well as mine since mine are only a couple months old?
You should skip the front facing view if your opponent is not in front of you, thats not really interesting to watch even though you show the distance between the cars with the dots!
Maybe consider showing the side by side view first and then the sideview?
Thanks for the feedback 👍
Do you need a helmet when racing your M3P? Just curious if I'd need that when I go to the track. Thanks!
Yea you need a helmet if you run faster than an 8.5 in the 8th mile. A jacket if you’re faster than 7.25 in the 8th which I’m close to. If I pull the seats I think I can hit that but I also would need to buy a jacket 😂
Also for the helmet, you need them to be some specific certification or something like that. I’m not 100% sure, I’ll ask when I go to the track today what the requirements are for helmets.
pretty sure track mode when not turning does nothing for bias. I never have ran over a 11.6 and never use track mode on a strip (once just to see that it was slower)
I’m ordering sexy buttons to hopefully get my times down. Excited for them to come in!
The flash game Dragracer is more exciting to watch.. this is just you pushing 1 button.. soon they can run without a driver and it will be faster... you are simply just there as a safety😅
Hahaha yeah soon we’ll have robotaxis. Thanks for watching !
@@RichOnTrack i would think so to.. some cars and jobs would be better with no driver at all. If only my company car could drive me sometimes so i could sleep between jobs lol
Oh interesting!!!
@@RichOnTrack with all that said, the new one is faster. There is a video where they put an older M3P and the refresh model (the one you have) on the Dyno… the results were intriguing- the old one reached peak HP quicker but tapered off.. the new one maintained more HP throughout
In Track mode when the wheels are straight, it is always 50/50 bias....full power... both motors.
Ofc, otherwise you would decrease power. Whoever thinks 100/0 would somehow shift the power from the front motor to the back motor was fetching chalk back in physics class
What year Tesla is this?
If you're gonna count 2 seconds, you start at zero... one... two.
Not, one.. two. That's only 1 second 😂
Either that or go at the end of the 2nd Mississippi, not at two.
What’s the reaction time of AI with neural net fsd?!
0.00069 probably if you ask Elon 😂
I bet sometime in the future Tesla makes a new feature for track mode (drag mode?) that auto accelerates when it sees the light. Giving reaction times of less than 0.100 consistently.
Seems unsafe to just have it auto accelerate lol but that would be interesting
@RichOnTrack what if it requires the drive to floor all they way down within 2 seconds of a green light, I think this will eliminate human factors 😅
Nice job :)
Thank you for watching !
The Model 3 has 2 motors with the smaller motor on front axles. You cant put 60 percent to the front axle.
You can, but it won’t do anything right?
1k subs incoming baby
Funny guy just don't like 50/50 which in theory should maximizes the traction tires on launch right?
It should but track was badly prepped. Nothing was gonna save me out there
No sound. No drama.
What are your next performance upgrades?
M4 driver was sleeping in every launch 😂
The lights were random not the sportsman lights I’m used to, even I was slow on the lights and I feel like I have great reaction time haha
Interesting to see the 1/4 mile races and you trying to master the tree. Thanks again for another great video Rich.
Appreciate you watching !!
You only gave the Audi 2 Mississippi's and only gave the 300 1 Mississippi. Wait until you say ALL your intended Mississippi's before flooring it.
Apologies I’ll learn to count better in the future. Thank you for watching
The gap!
Damn those Tesla are fucking fast!!!
Thanks for watching and yeah they’re pretty quick for a car that’s 50k
Ide love to race mine with you. I have the unplugged performance track suspension. unplugged performance UP-3 forged wheels. I don't know if the wheels are more aerodynamic but I know they're about a hundred pounds lighter. 😅
Are you near Irwindale, CA? I go racing every Thursday night from 5-10pm!
@@RichOnTrack I live about a thousand miles away from you. The closest city to me is Portland, Oregon.
@@Keeping-It-Real-55I’ll race you im close to Portland
M4/m3 comp x-drive runs low 11s not high 11s
The track was not prepped properly or something, everyone was having trouble getting traction
the a4 didn't even use launch control, why?
Old pre 2014 camaro ss. Stock, they do 12.7@112.:
I noticed you drag races against the m3 not m4 not sure if you put the title right
Been watching your videos and you do read your times wrong.
Where are you located? Tempted to just let you borrow my plaid for the day.
Southern California. It would be cool but problem is with plaid I’d need to have my NHRA Drag license which is a whole
Process to apply for
@@RichOnTrack wow really? A normal person with a plaid can’t just show up to race for fun? They’d need a license? If that’s the case, remove the emblems and tell them it’s a long range lol.
@@zagato77904 you’d get one pass (maybe) and they would tell you you’re going to fast LOL
Xdrive BMW even in this weather are nothing to play with. They smoke even a model x plaid. A simple tune puts it in MSP range
There won't be a next decade for the internal combustion engine. It's definitely going the way of the horse and buggy.
I have no idea how that M4 xDrive is running a 11.86 qtr. I run 11.1 on my M3 all day long. Weird, he is probably not using launch mode
It was warm that evening, DA was probably also bad as we were higher up in elevation. Track was not great either so probably a mix of all those things unfortunately
A tune will get you 10.7
@@RichOnTrack shouldn’t affect the performance that much, I live in elevated and warm city. He probably didn’t use launch control or doesn’t know how to do it properly. Either way that was your win, not trying to take anything away from you. Just being real.
@@Thecollector5721 DA has a massive effect dude. 97 degrees and elevation can easily knock 100hp off a turbo car.
@@OtisFlint heat definitely affects air density but turbo cars are mostly immune to elevation losses because the turbo compresses the air for you. Naturally aspirated cars are much more affected by air density.
Where the turbo car gets hurt is keeping the intercooler charge air cool. The heat causes pre-ignition and the knock sensors back off boost and or timing decreasing horsepower.
Track model actually makes the car slower in a straight line you lose about a 10th of a second
Of course a Tesla guy can't tell an M3 from an M4 lol
I normally can it was the extreme heat 🥵
Why do these model 3 have suck a crazy slow top end acceleration compared to having such a fast 0-80mph. The times are fast buy the mph is so slow for the time. Do these cars just die or stop acceleration after 100mph?
They have a fast 0-120 but it’s called instant torque after that dies out then it’s just the 500 hp pulling that heavy as car
To be fair, the Mustang driver had the reaction time of a turnip, and clearly had no idea how to shift... His time was on par with bone stock Honda Civic... lol
I know the Tesla is fast on a straight line but how good is it in corners ? That’s more important for me
Go watch Misha Charoudin, he is a dude that is a professional track racer that lives at the Nurburgring in Germany.. He has done several videos of the Tesla cars on the most epic track in the world, and stock they are disappointing, and dangerous.. but now they have a track spec that has better brakes ect... watch them all
Instead of counting "one mississippi..." you should count "mississippi one...". Seems like your punching the accelerator on the number rather than waiting until you're done saying mississippi, so your delays are about a half second less than you think.
I’ll try this next time thanks for the tip
It's an M3 not M4. M3 = 4 door, M4 = 2 door 🙂
Oops!!!! 😬 times should be similar though right?!
On a real racetrack whit ( maybe you heard or read about it) corners the BMW is the better one
Yeah I just took my car out to willows springs and it was quite fun to go around some corners in it
Hey man nice videos 😊 bravo I'm watching now all of them.
I also got tesla 3 performance , you can see it in my channel.
So I am interested to go on drag racing like you, but I want to ask you a few questions to prepare myself before that if you are okay for chat ?
An M4 losing like that especially with xdrive is horrible. Needs a big driver mod. wasn’t even using launch control. I did a quarter mile one with my Xdrive on the street and I ran in 11.2 people just don’t understand and have a hard time properly using launch control in bmws
That was a rwd forsure. I live In Florida in 100 degree weather and run 11.0s when I was stock. 100% a RWD
For full context on how dominant Tesla are could you post the entry price for each model pls?
That’s a great idea! My model 3 performance is 53k I believe. And a plaid S is 89k
In strait line yes
On a real race track…
Nice videos. But can you modify your Mississippi count? Mississippi one, Mississippi two, and floor it on two. or wait till you pronounce the last i.
Will do 👍
Looks like it was a rwd. Any m3/m4 xdrive would gap you.
Was xdrive for sure just bad surface
You have never been to an actual track have you?.. On street car night the track gets eaten up by stock all season tires.. The cars spin.. and its hot, with high D/A and possibly elevation.. All resulting in losing possibly 50-60hp and when spinning even more time.. Thats why you actually go out and drag race, not just sit around on the internet and compare hp and motor trend numbers.. Anything can happen on a race, and the fastest car doesn't always win.. welcome to drag racing in the real world...
M4 has more than a down pipe. M4 dude gas brutal reactions
Haha it was tough for both of us 😂
Reaction time has zero to do with your total 1/4 time
I though it was a real race, not just straight ahead. Americans😂
Hahaha I’m not good around a proper circuit…yet. Definitely need more practice
Wow, how about who can drive further 😂
Sure let’s do it. You wanna do the challenge with me?
Bmw driver is sleeping at the light
Tough lights man, I was sleeping too lol
BMW is so much sexier that I bought me one and now my Tesla feels boring.
Because Teslas are boring. They're amazing daily drivers, but if you're a car guy there is nothing to keep you engaged.
it's a M3 obviously..
I can swear that’s a m3
That’s a m3 competition
The bmw didn’t have launch control as that is a faster car
Get a Plaid
Maybe some day

Yes, but I bet you’d get even more interest on RUclips with a Plaid. I really enjoy what a great sport you are. Whatever happens, you’re smiling.
Why are u lying? That wasnt a m3 XDrive. U serious? 11.8 for a m3 xdrive? They run 11.0-11.2 bone stock. That was 100% a RWD and u can tell he spun like crazy
You're doing your Mississippis wrong. Like when you said you were gonna give him 3 seconds. You went when you started saying 3, you were already going when you said 3. By the time you finished saying the third Mississippi you probably were going 30mph. So that was a 2 seconds head start. You're supposed to go when you finish saying Mississippi. Just saying 😂
My bad 😞 I’m gonna do Mississippi one then Mississippi two then Mississippi three next time
@@RichOnTrack no big deal, just saying that it was the reason why you mentioned that you should had given the 1 or 2 extra seconds, both times you gave a head starts. And you may be doing it the way it is done in drag racing haha I've never drag raced in my life, so I don't know the rules. I just know you were 1 second short of what you said you were going to do😂 and the order of the words doesn't matter. Instead of going on T go when you're on the last I, in the case of *T*hree Mississipp*I*.
Now go around a corner or stop.
BS you need a plaid to deal with any m3/m4 xDrive with a competent driver that doesn’t sleep at the light. 125 to 112 mph is a huge difference in speed. M3/m4 run 3.0 to 60 and 11.1 bone stock with a decent driver and easy 9 seconds with a flash tune. They are running low 9’s with more mods and 8’s fully built. 0.6 reaction time is ridiculous!
On a perfect grip track, in good D/A and at sea level elevation.. otherwise, you just hit the gas, its an auto, there is no "driver mod" LOL...
The Model S LR can handle all the 600hp plus variants of the M series. For context Model S LR typically run 10.6@129mph in the 1/4. A Plaid is not needed until you start modding in which case you'll need 1000hp minimum just to keep up with it.
@@ChosenMJ you do know the m3 and m4 cs run 10.7 stock? Furthermore, the standard S LR will not even beat the stock m3 comp xdrive on the track buddy and a stock M3 comp xdrive will trash that plaid on the track with a mere $2k flash tune. Nice try… fail!
@@Bimmer_Billyou’re clearly angry that your expensive car is slower than an electric car 🤦🏾♂️

Mustang didn't even leave until 5 sec later. These aren't races.
Got a 2019 S p100d now. 0-60: 2.1 sec quicker than a plaid, and 1/4: 10.4@126. I'd beat plaid to about 100, after that I get smoked.
I think a plaid is 1.99 0-60 and 1/4 in 9.26?
@RichOnTrack No. Made up numbers from a stripped plaid, no interior, one little seat test mule. Real world production actually not as quick as the p100d upto 90 mph. Strip a p100d and it'll run a 1.94 0-60.
@@MasterCarguy44-pk2dqLMAO ok dude. P100Ds are fastest than plaids in your little fantasy world.

Different angles so you can see. I feel like just seeing one angle it’s hard to tell what’s going on especially in an 1/8th mile race that’s over in 7 seconds
@@RichOnTrack Ah I see, I was looking at it more of just looking at the end result - win rather than considering a couple angles
