I love it man, it's great and nice to get to know the racers you're driving with. Keep them coming, and have repeaters when they do something new to the car! So much greatness potential!
@RichOnTrack - can you help me out by telling me what is the best set up on the model 3 performance for drag racing? Track mode, sport mode , batter percentage etc….
@@albertocastro3328never ever track mode. You want your battery warm and track mode cools it down. You want your soc as high as you can possibly manage. 100% if possible. Then you want to navigate to the closest supercharger so that you see the ‘preconditioning the battery’ message. It can take up to 30 minutes to warm up a cold battery so start as early as you can. But right before you stage, turn off the navigation. Turn off at/heater, allow the car to devote as much battery power to propulsion as possible.
That Supra was fast as hell. I think the interviews add a level of personality to the cars and the people who own them. They both seemed down to earth, relaxed, and out to have fun.
I liked the interview. He was really knowledgeable about his car. That 7.28 time is quick. I never got down to that time on stock wheels. If you changed to lightweight 18” wheels and tires I would be willing to bet you could do a 7.19 1/8. Also your reaction times are stellar. I know the Supra driver got you on the line but both of you timed the tree very well.
@@RichOnTrackawesome. Those may not make you quicker immediately because you are already posting some of the quickest 100% stock times I have seen. However, they should make you more consistent. You will know exactly what HP the car is capable of before the run. That will help you gauge how long to precondition before each run. Then you won’t be wasting power Preconditioning when you don’t really need it.
I was going to get a C8 Stingray before I got the Model 3 Performance. The Stingray looks great but the performance is just not what they advertise. They are WAY slower than advertised. The Z06 is a different story. That car is every bit as quick as they advertise.
My plan is to take advantage of the price drop for the 2022-23 models and buy a used one with very little mileage (10k or less) and save 20-25k CAN $ It's going to be my first electric car so... I'm not ready to pay 72k CAN$ , but I definitely going too follow you as it sound like you waiting for the refresh model 🤙
dude! you have got me hooked! last night I saw your video against that ev6gt. which is the car I have. now since our cars are fairly evenly matched, and I see all the cars you are beating, like the Corvette, it lets me race them vicariously through your videos. lol. So thanks for your work...great fun.
Dude you are really good. Ever since I test drove a Model 3 I'm hooked. Always wanted a Tesla when they first came out but were seldom seen. The test drive confirmed my beliefs. Blew my mind. Absolutely gorgeous cars. No ICE car under 100K comes close. Now RUclips knows I want one as I'm bombarded with vids from all kinds of folks with their experiences. Yours are epic. One other young woman I bookmarked hers as it was super informative of what to check when you pick it up. Here's my dilemma as you've mentioned you've owned a few. I LOVE your Model 3P and how well it does on the track. My other choice is a Model 3 LR with the performance boost. Not quite as quick as yours but pretty close. Why? Those 19in wheels are just awesome and more traditional looking which I like. Also those 20in wheels are very exposed hence they get scratched easily. In my case it's gonna be a 2nd car so maybe driven once per week so I'm told I can rely on Superchargers. My building doesn't have any unfortunately. If you read this I'd love to know your opinion. thanks.
If it’s your second car then yeah you’d probably be fine with supercharging. I lived without a charger at home for year. It was annoying but that’s because the Tesla was my daily and I drove it 2k miles a month sometimes more so rely on supercharging was annoying.
Rich, first off thanks for your great real-world 8th mile racing against real world cars, love it. You asked if we'd like to see you race any particular car, so I'll ask that if you ever see a model Y Performance at the track, see if the guy will race you. Being heavier you will win but I would actually like to see how much that extra weight on the model Y slows it down compared to the model 3. Thanks again Rich, I've watched and liked every single one of your videos. I share them also.
Thank you for watching and sharing! I have been dying to race a model Y performance and I will absolutely make that race happen if I see one at the track!
Yes, this helps all cars perform better. This is because higher battery temp means lower impedance (electrical resistance). So lower impedance means the battery can discharge a greater amount of amps, quicker and longer.
Thanks for watching! It’s the jowua MagSafe mount. I have it linked in the description. They come with a charging and non charging version. Worked so well for me I bought two haha
Love love love the interviews!! It makes each race seem more personal. Great job bro! And thank you for beating that wanna be supercar corvette 3 times! Keep up the GREAT content!
Great Videos Rich!!! Would love to race you sometime 2023 BMW M3 Competition stock … runs consistent 7.2 … would be a super close race … hopefully we can set it up at Irwindale sometime
That was NOT a 600 hp Supra......that's an 800 hp Supra!!! Depending on the dyno he used to tune 600 wheel hp is dang near 800 hp. You did well against it all things considered.
@@RichOnTrack .....even with a bad launch he might've walked you down. Those B58's are like my old N54 was, torque monsters. They're making peak torque around 1500 rpm, they're hard to deal with. I love my Model S but sometimes miss my old N54 powered BMW.
Another great video Rich. I would be interested to see you up against a Tesla Model S Long Range (Raven or Palladium), but I realize not many of them will be owned by racers. But you never know....🤞
Me neither! I wish we had a 1/4 closer to me but 1/8 is all I have! I try to make it out to 1/4 drag strips when they’re open but it’s like once a month.
Well done: on the races and the video! Just curious: do you have a coffee can full of pennies in the car? Wondering what that sound is when you floor it and when you lift. 😊
He's out to lunch. Stock for stock my 2019 GT 5.0 would walk 392s. From a 50 roll, as soon as we hit 90, I would walk away from anything Dodge (below Hellcats). They just can't beat the mustang's top end.
This is an interesting question, I’m not sure how we can test it. I do charge to 100% on race days so I’m sure that doesn’t help and constantly pushing the car is probably not helpful but the times have been consistently fast. If I notice a drop off in our 0-60 or 1/8 or 1/4 mile times I’ll be sure to let everyone know.
Definitely not because I’m always chasing perfect reaction time and I never know how the other car will do. Plus I’m not the type of person to keep doing something if I’m not having fun doing it
