Thanks for watching. Glad it’s helpful. I’ve continued playing with the Synology for different things, it’s a very impressive product for a home business setting.
How do OneNote books open, read and edit in Synology NAS. Is it possible? or it just a back up copy stored in Nas for peace of mind. If it is a document, the VIEW option is on dropdown menu with open in pdf viewer or open with google docs.
If your objective is to work live off of the NAS rather than as a backup, I’d suggest looking at the Synology Cloud Sync app versus the M365 Backup. But bear in mind that synced copies of the same file are not technically a backup so does not serve the same purpose.
Not directly, though given that this provides a local copy of the assets you have backed up, with some extra work you could get them onto another cloud. There are a variety of cloud based tools to facilitate cloud-to-cloud migrations that would probably better fit your need if migration is your objective.
Thanks for the video, very instructive. I get an error, though, after I accept the requested permissions. My user as the clearances for accepting the requests but when I come back to the site I get the following error: "Detected a network connection failure. Please check if your firewall settings are correct." I know that the network of the NAS is working fine, so I wonder if it is possible that the microsoft settings of my organization are not allowing Synology to access what it needs. Do you have a suggestion?
It might be that some Microsoft endpoints needed for the back-up are not accessible through your firewall. That would be the first place I'd look if I got that error from the back-up job. There's probably some reference Synology publishes to help you fault find their errors too.
Thanks for watching. Capacity is dependent upon your Synology device. There is guidance on their website with suggestions of the right device for different user quantities. With 400 you’re going to require something a little bigger than the one featured in my video I think.
The MS 365 backup requires you to have an enterprise license. Small and medium size buisnesses who don't need an enteprise license from MS 365 cannot access the MS 365 backup site.
I'm seeing M365 Backup as being able to be activated on tenants only with business accounts after setting up Syntex PAYG billing. If you're not seeing it as available, it may be another blocker as I don't think enterprise vs business licenses have any impact on its availability.
We implemented this to our company and this is quite very good to have if youre small to medium size business. support is nice too.
Thanks for watching. I’m glad you’ve found the product useful.
Good explain..is it opensource?
No. Synology’s software is designed solely for their products and I don’t believe the core of it is open source
Nice video! A fine start for a home-office IT administrator (aka setting up backups for my wife 😍).

Great review, thanks! 👍

Can we restore our backup data( sharepoint , email ) on other vendor eg, alibaba cloud?

Good video, do you know the maximum amount of users that the Synoloy 365 Backup can be added. I have 400 users
