That 48 mp raw is noticeably sharper than 12 MP , also it doesn't do over processing, i think it's worth it for some shots

The 48 Mp ProRaw outperforms my 24 Mp Pansonic S5 full frame in many situations, the normal 12 Mp would not outperform a patatoe, it looks like 8 Mp ancient full frame Yes the raw are large size, but do one single adjustment, like lighten the shadows +01 and you'll send a 10 Mb jpg file to your Mac, still 48 Mp, which looks like real 24 Mp full frame, not 6 Mp.
Okay, I found the error, you're using a 1,440p large ultra wide screen, you cannot possibly tell the difference between 12 Mp and 48 Mp, as your screen is less than 5 Mp, I might have thought the same when I was on 1,440p ancient Apple screen, now 5k, it is different, very.
Oversharpening is also what I notice on most iphones since the 11 series, which turns me off because the iphones were so popular before because of the soft, natural photos they produced.

Yep. I upgraded from a Nokia 8 to a 12 pro and it was such a huge setback for my landscapes. I thought it was the lens or something but no. What’s even more painful was before I had the Nokia I came from a niche phone by Panasonic called “lumix cm1” which could do that sharp look really really well. Sharp photos can be done… just not the way Apple does it by crushing the blacks around edges a.k.a. micro contrast. In a way it forced me to get a proper camera (or 4 haha).

Okay so you're a better RUclipsr than all the other big named smartphone RUclipsrs out there. You nailed this review. And the sharpening issue on iPhone is real. It blows my mind that Apple added sharpening after iPhone XS came out. It's the stupidest thing ive ever seen from a smartphone camera. And I completely stopped photography with my iPhone because of it.

What really bothers me is when I showed my friend a picture where I desharpened the raw pic… he said it looked worse than the 12MP one! The masses unfortunately don’t have it in them… hence why cinematic mode is also so popular

Standard apple leather case! After a while it develops a super nice patina
The main camera sensor is significantly larger then all previous models I believe it's only on the iPhone 14 pro
The leather case always feels good. The good thing about Apple is that there are many models that look like cases even if they are older models, but the Galaxy disappears after a while.
Can you make a camera comparison between S22 Ultra and iPhone 14 pro? Considering all different camera features and their performance in different scenarios...

Did you distress your leather case? It looks so good. Apple’s leather cases for the past couple years have been so difficult to get a natural patina, I’m curious if you did yours manually.

have you ever reviewed a Sony Xperia 1 camera. The one thing you touched on with the artificial and over sharpening of photo's is one of the reasons I like the Xperia cameras; I know they are not perfect but I always find they seem to take more realistic photos. Also with the colours which I always find Samsung to be one to that oversaturates the photos.
Just seems that phone cameras seem to make everything look "amazing" even if the day was grey and the colours in real life were muted.
I always think of it as most phones take pictures, Sony take photos.
Then there's the photo pro app too.
Would be interesting to see you review that , I've had look through and can't see a one that you've done before

Great work, besides video were iphone rules without any question, if you had to choose just based on photography would you pick the iphone 14 pro or the pixel 7 pro?
Biggest difference is the telephoto zooms, Pixel is much tighter in

Finally! YES! Cinematic mode is so bad and people are overhyping it. Even some professional photographers have used it and pretend to be amazed in their youtube channel but it just plain sucks!
I can literally tell in the first 0.3 seconds if something has been shot with cinematic mode 🤣

@@BommeltjeNL it does work great in many cases, and in some reviews it did outperform other flagships (at least in video quality, focus separation is essentially on par) but only in some cases such as easily recognizable subjects. It won't beat naturally shallow depth of field from the physics of bigger lenses. In the video you've shared, cinematic mode (specifically focus separation) isn't well demonstrated, and I would argue the shots that it was used were only a few successful ones among many shots where background blur did not look great. iPhones still look the best in most cases for video quality though, as we can see in the video you shared, but not when it comes to live video focus/ bokeh/ blur separation.

Love your video, but i dont think you have used the s22 ultra or the pixel? I have the 14 PM and S22 Ultra and genuinely not that impressed with HDR with the iPhone this year. It can be way better to be honest. Definitely, not worth the hype for this generation year and would not recommend to anyone who wants to make the switch coming from 13 PM or 12 PM, makes no sense. Wait till next year when they use the IMX 989 1` inch sensor, that would be game changer or at least I will hope

Tbh I always shoot in ProRAW and in 48MP on my 14 Pro because Apples processing is just ridiculously bad at this point. The 48MP makes it a bit visible and that alone kinda makes it worth it... whenever I take the standard 12MP shots, they look TERRIBLE. This is not just a "tiny" issue anymore. It's just way too much at this point.
Can we also fix the over sharpening in post processing ? I like the native camera app

I noticed strange reflections with brighter objects in darker scenes. Is that what you mean with display problems?
@@BommeltjeNLProbably so, and since you may not know about the burn-in phenomenon, let me tell you. The burn-in (afterimage) phenomenon is a phenomenon in which some of the light emitting elements in the display panel deteriorate and become damaged. The burn-in phenomenon mainly appears in AMOLED displays. The way to check this is to set the brightness of the display to the brightest and display a white background. If the color is uneven or marks are visible, the burn-in phenomenon may be in progress. (English sentences may be strange. I wrote it through Papago.)

Yes all 3 lenses! Though best result is with the telephoto and main lens IMO

I think the biggest upgrade is the cameras. Dynamic island is massively meh. If you don’t need the telephoto lens, go with the standard iPhone.

Great question!! I might compare these at some point. I don’t think it’s killed it, but it’s definitely closer than it is for DSLRs

I come to believe that the subject/background and the whole scenery in general makes up 70% of the photo, thus making the camera far less important than it seems.

Marques Brownlee already did a blind test on all the new smartphones for this year and the apple was middle of the road on the results. The s22 ultra did better and the pixel phone was the best. So please stop hyping the iphone so much, the phone aint that special.
