  • Episode 1 of 3 - Preparations, take off from Oslo, Norway, landing in Cape Town, South Africa, 13th and 14th November, 2023. Watch aviation history in the making as Norse Atlantic Airways, The Explorer’s Airline, documents our historic aviation journey, pioneering the first-ever landing of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the blue ice runway in Antarctica, and the largest aircraft to ever land in Antarctica!
Contracted by the Norwegian Polar Institute and AirContact, the world’s oldest air broker, our mission was to deliver crucial research equipment for Antarctic exploration.
Our exceptional cargo capacity and reduced carbon footprint, eliminating the need for refueling at Troll, played an important role in the mission's success.
For more information about this mission, make sure to tune in to the next episodes!

What a brilliant marketing move by Mr. Larsen to take the plane from the OSLJFK route and fly it to the Middle of Nowhere!

Hope the heavy cargo is secured. Remember the plane in Afghanistan?, that had Heavy military trucks or tanks, and the straps snapped, shifted and well, sadly crashed on take off, because they should have used chains. That said, Very cool, Studded snow tires?!😊

are they gonna provide tourist flights to the continent or is it for researchers commuting to their stations only?

There are tourist flights to Antarctica already. Search for "White Desert". They offer flights to their luxury camp in Antarctica.

Shocking and ridiculous! Leave the poles alone!

You must be very confused, this is not shocking. There are many flights to the south pole every year. This flight delivered scientists and supplies to their research base. The only difference is the aircraft model involved. All the major countries have bases in the polar regions. Your comment is ridiculous and very ignorant. There are actual tourists flying to Antarctica now, that would be worth complaining about.
