You show up you can't leave you can't learn what you want if you don't want to fall in line you get punished you can't even use the bathroom when you want to. Its literally just like getting institutionalized. Some of the stuff you learn has practical benefits but a lot of it is just garbage. So many times i tried to force myself to get good grades and study, and i did for a little, but i just would end up getting burnt out and tired of it. Hopefully I can do what i set out to do. I am so grateful to go to a high school that actually thinks of students as real humans. No hoodie rule, we can use electionics during certain times of the day, and the teachers seem to genuinely care about the students. We are even allowed to create our own schedules in our Junior and Senior year (many of my upperclass friends choose to come to school after 2nd period). I can't fathom how other people would feel without a school like this, it must suck.

High school was a tremendous waste of time for me as well - I can't even remember what I "learned" and I wasn't even sleeping during class. That time was literally wasted and honestly would've been better spent with friends or hell, even video games were more productive.
I'm 27 now so my high school years are long behind me. I discovered my passion for programming after college and I now work as a software engineer despite FAILING many classes in high school and being placed in a "learning support class" which didn't help anyone and made the students attending the class feel like idiots even though many of us weren't, we just didn't see the point in high school.
If I can become a software engineer after failing many classes in high school then what was the point in high school? The rest of the world should copy off of Finland's education system because the current education system everywhere else just doesn't work.

my whole lifes purpose was made and shaped to believe that my grades are what define my future. throughout highschool i formed absolutely no social skills but i was getting good grades so i felt validated. the day i graduated was the most depressing day of my life because all of the “meaning” i had built up to that point was ripped away from me.
it was only until graduating that i had to learn i who i am as a person and thats actually rough. an 18 year old who knows nothing about himself and what he likes. i begun my self improvement journey when i was 15 watching you in 2017 or 2018 and it wasnt until the age of 19 that i now realize how important learning yourself is outside of the books and grades. lucid just by making these videos you’ve helped me begin to find the path of who i am. im now on nofap to “p” for over a year which is not important number wise but i have overcome my addiction. you are leader of this generation and im so grateful for discovering you early.
in conclusion im 2 years old as my own person due to school being my previous life’s purpose and if your in school currently, focus on building connections and finding yourself. dont make grades your identity and your purpose its not worth it, maybe im projecting but ye stay lucid stay dreaming im out peace ✌️.

I'm currently in my freshman year of university, and i've never felt so free from high school. It feels like you're independently doing the education without being stepped on and controlled by other people. And it's even great to go to school for things you actually enjoy. I didn't suffer in high school as much as you did, but I know that whatever you see on your report card will not define who you are as a person.
Success will take a lot of work. You decide the outcome and how you want your life to be. Life is never easy, but that doesn't mean there is only one way to make yourself feel great.

I literally just started freshman year at the beginning of September and every day literally feels the same.
Wake up, eat breakfast, go to school, do a bunch of work, get in trouble every now and then even when its not your fault, go home, stay up late doing homework, watch yt to procrastinate, go to bed, repeat.
I feel like school is so roboticized. We all have to follow directions and know random facts off of the top of our heads in order to get good grades so we can succeed. Even then, a good grade doesn't determine success. However, so many people are judged based on their grades. School is a place where people get bullied for so many things, including intelligence, and grades do nothing but make people either feel "stupid" or "smart", when real intelligence should be based off of other things.
Personally, I try to get the highest grades possible and do as much work as I can to improve my gpa, but sometimes I wonder. Is it worth it to go through all of this stress and reptiton only to make a few extra thousand dollars in the future, and that itself being a BIG maybe? The school system should honestly change.

Currently a Senior in High School, I have a 3.9 GPA and I got good grades and it got to my head. I have a hard time with failing things and I have a hard time telling people things. School doesn't just hurt the "failures," but it hurts "successful" people too.

My parents have always put me down even though I have a 4.48 GPA (max is 4.5 and these are AP classes). Even in elementary school they always compared me to kids who went to prestigious schools such as MIT or Harvard. Over time this shattered my confidence in my own abilities. However when I compared myself to the people around me it made me feel a lot better.

I don’t know who he is, but he’s almost at a million subs, and he spits facts. Also while knowing that although at school he might’ve hated his teachers, reading their words he probably understood he was immature or overreacted. I feel like most teachers look at for their students for the 4 months or 4 years they look over them and I hope my boy can really become a RUclips sensation. Like I agree go for something your passionate for but you know, I’m too dumb not to get a formal education since I have no passions for things that would pay, or the savvy ability to make money from my passions

I wish my highschool teachers would be this caring to actually give good feedback and let me know what my problems are, I am lost and I blame my family I feel like they did a lot of shit and destroyed my confidence, Props to America, this is so great.

This year is probably going to be my hardest year of school in terms of work. It’s my 2nd last year of school (s5 it’s Scottish)and I’m doing something called highers in the subjects I want to do good at which are: maths, english, physics, chemistry and geography. Doing 5 is quite tough and you need to learn everything in less than a year. Work doesn’t really end after school finishes you have homework and essays and studying after school and during weekends also don’t forget a tutor. It’s a struggle but I’ve been through it before last year I did what are called national 5s and I did 7 of them(you need to do them in your fourth year to do higher in your fifth year)and it was a struggle because of covid, teachers being off for half a year, replacement teachers not being able to speak good English sometimes and some of the worst procrastination ever. Can’t wait to go into my last year where I can chose subjects that are easier and I can pay less attention. I might do the next step up called advanced highers in some subjects but maybe only 2.
