I’m 53 now and it has stopped my hair loss and I grew some back at the crown. I started losing my hair 24 years old . I’m sure I’d be completely bald by now if I didn’t discover this drug. I have however lost strength and muscle over the years even though I have never stop pumping weights. Also lost a bit of libido but nothing viagra doesn’t fix. I stopped taking the minoxidil 2 days ago and feel much better. Apparently it sent my blood pressure way to low. After watching these videos, I now plan now to give Finesteride a month or 2 break to clear it from my body then change my dose to 1.25mg 3 times a week instead of everyday. It’s already been 1 week of my break from it and already feeling stronger in the gym. The Finasteride twin had his hair combed over. The non-Finasteride twin had his hair going straight down the sides of his head. I’ve been on fin for over 10 years but my hair is slowly thinning. I added 0.5 dut once a week but it gave me sides. I read it takes time for the body to get used to it so I’ll try it again some time in the future. But fin worked great for me cuz my brother is completely bald while I still have a full head of hair with diffused thinning.
Hello I started taking finasteride a month ago 0.5 mg pills every day. for 4 days I feel itching. Was it caused by Finasteride? Is it reversible symptoms? please answer
this is so ironic, its almost the same situation with me and my brother, he's 2 years older than me, I realized his thinning and noticed some recession in my own hairline, I took action and he never did, I have all my hair and essentially a Norwood 1 and he's almost bald. He doesn't regret his decision though cause hes a gym junkie and believes finasteride has harm on his gains lmao
I cut down on my dose a few months ago… but I think a small amount of thinning has returned. If I re increase my finasteride dose, I’d it likely my hair will go back to its condition of six months ago? Ta

Hello Dr. I have a small question. I have been on Finasterid over 4 months and I didn't experience any side effects so far. Now me and my wife are planning to have a baby. Is this continuation of Drug can affect our purpose to have a baby in any way?
I heard different videos where doctors say to be off for a month before trying to conceive and get on directly after you have conceived.the drug can affect male infertility and cause defect in the baby although I don’t believe there’s strong evidence about the defect part.
They have answered this many times/in previous episodes/comments. It's recommended to have stopped taking it for a while before (mainly for psychological reasons - there should really not be a risk). But a woman planning to give birth should not be anywhere near Finasteride. Not touching it or so.
I would suggest you to look at the channel of Dr. Gary Linkov. He is based out of US, looks very accomplished and has a very informative channel, best channel on this as per me.
Check out Dr Cooley in NC. Search Cooley hair loss and his before/after w/patients comes up here on youtube. He's highly respected and regarded as one of the best, if not the best in the US.
I'm in my 50's and was seeing a lot of hair in the shower drain after washing hair so I started DHT blockers. After taking finasteride 5mg for 2mos followed by switching to only taking dutasteride 5mg for one month. My hair loss completely stopped. After the 3mos, I had my annual PE and my CBC (complete blood count) showed a slightly elevated AST (liver damage). I do not drink or smoke, but have been taking supplements like niacin and rosuvastatin for high cholesterol, so I don't know what caused my high AST, but as a precaution I DCed all supplements and meds (AMA) until I have blood work done again in 4-5mos. It's been 2mos since DCing finasteride and dutasteride, and now only use an anti-DHT shampoo/conditioner 2-3x/wk (Keeps). Based on what I see in the shower drain after washing my hair, I have had no hair loss whatsoever. I will continue monitoring but based on my results, I may not need DHT blocker meds until I see hair loss again. I also plan to only shampoo once a week or so because it seems to be harsh on fine hair and dries my hair too much. Conclusion: finasteride and dutasteride worked great and completely stopped hair my loss.
Look, I’m pro finasteride as much as the next guy, but why are side by side or before and after pictures always taken in different conditions? One LITERALLY has a comb over, the other has his hair spread out to expose the thinning. It looks like the same guy just combed his hair over. No doubt it probably helped save a few hairs but why not just be realistic and fair. A lot of marketing and deception goes into this pictures and it always puts me off as doesn’t come across genuinez
Sir I am using minoxidil 5% and now i want to switch to finasteried 1mg. what should i do? can i stop minoxidil and start finastried to avoid hair shedding? Please reply?
Hello Dr. Vikram, would greatly appreciate your answer, I've began taking finasteride as a 5 mg pill quartered into 1.25mg parts. When quartered, the pill dissolves very quickly often in my mouth already. Do you think this could be a problem for its effect? I'm concerned that it isn't lowering my dht since it's dissolving before reaching my stomach.
@@andrewvanness1473, Well, I try to swallow the quartered pill as fast as possible, but it begins dissolving very quickly, so it's clear that by the time it reaches my stomach it will be dissolved in the water that I swallow it with.
@@trapitusaventurez2190 It'll be absorbed into your bloodstream anyway. Whether it's dissolved in the mouth or stomach, the active ingredient would be absorbed and filtered by the liver and delivered into the bloodstream.

in the UK there's a brand called HIMS that offering a new topical Finasteride & Minoxidil all in one solution (no pills); however I worry that the "Twice Daily" recommended usage would increase the chances of side effects compared to taking a pill 3x a week along side Minoxidil use. Would love to know your opinions on this method/product if possible as I have my doubts but also hold a lot of anxiety towards taking Finasteride in pill form.
80% of men lose some hair by their 40s and 50s. That's not typical alopecia. That's just getting old. Older men look weird if they still retain their youth hairline. It's why good hair transplant doctors don't recommend bringing down the hairline for men in their 40s
Testing this on one twin is not enough to proove the effect of Finasteride. First, any serious scientifc study you need a large population size to get good stats. You need to omit the drug and compare again in the same population. Also with DNA sequencing, we know true twins are not really identical, they are very similar but not identical, as we know spontanous mutation are very common in human population.
They already have done studies on large groups, he's just showing a comparison with identical twins to show how people with the exact same DNA are compared.

Hey doc I hope you see this. I have been taking finasteride for about 2 months now and have noticed my hair part in the middle is a lot more noticeable now and can see my scalp. Should the finasteride stopped this kind of hair loss by now? I know shedding around this time is normal but I'm seeing a particular worsening around the part.
Keep on using it. It takes longer to assess its effectiveness. My tip: take good pictures now and compare to pictures in 10 months (so 12 months in total). For me, the difference was clearly visible (thicker hair, hairline stabilised).

And if you still get sides then after you stop the treatment : you sex drive will be back to normal in no time. Ps : post finasteride syndrome is a myth

i am 26 and my family has no bald issues but I face hair fall. i want to stop my hair fall. Rest of my hair is enough for me. what dose should I take Finasteride ? kindly answer me.
The Finasteride twin had his hair combed over. The non-Finasteride twin had his hair going straight down the sides of his head. I wonder really how much more hair has been saved with the Finasteride using twin if he styled his hair the same way as his brother. I'm pretty sure it would look much less full. I mean, look at how far the comb-over is! Anyway, Im sure it helped using Finasteride, but a true comparison should have been done with the exact same hair styling.
exactly my point
you are right but the brother who didn’t take finasteride can’t even do the first brothers hair length or style . he doesn’t have enough hair 😂
there is a question about propecia, i find it will lose effection when propecia store in a refrigerator or in high temperature( above 30 ℃)。so, what is the best way to store finasterde in hot summer? thank you
Could you please make a video about brittle hair. How we can fight with it. 😊What kind of oil we can use to improve structure and growth of hair.
For how long was the twin taking Finasteride prior to this photo?
Did the finasteride reverse the hair loss or just halt it?
Hi Dr. Plz , i wishe to answer me , can i take 5 mg Finasteride once on the week ?
Can you discuss if latanoprost is effective in hair loss. There’s many pharmacy’s that compound a foam containing both latanoprost/finasteride with limited studies showing effectiveness. However, there is one double blind study showed significant out comes with hair regrowth, just wondering if can you shed some light on the latanoprost if possible.
The doctors on this show recommend stopping it for one month every 5-6 months to clear it out of your system a bit and still keep the benefits
were you able to have kids without autism,
Whats your side effects? I dont see any side effect by adding dut once a week and take finasteride the rest of the weeks.
Hello
I started taking finasteride a month ago 0.5 mg pills every day. for 4 days I feel itching.
Thoughts on having kids when taking 0.5mg finasteride daily ?
I cut down on my dose a few months ago… but I think a small amount of thinning has returned. If I re increase my finasteride dose, I’d it likely my hair will go back to its condition of six months ago? Ta
I have had a very very great results with topical finasteride. I have gained a lot of hair back. I simply crush the tablets into minoxodil and the results is amazingg
How do you crush the tablets into minoxidil?
Thanks Dr, The question is, if the brother who did not choose to take finasteride, starts taking it now, will he be able to regrow more hair at the baldness area?
No. Finasteride only slows down hair loss.
hmmm tbh the examples are showing one brother with heavily combed over hair
So Finastride doesn't make your hair to grow?
I always wanted to see something like this I wonder when will it be ok to get off the medication. Is there a period where the shedding stops after taking the pill for an amount of time?
No. You have to take the medicine till the time you want to retain your hair. Though after sometime you can reduce the dosage somewhat.
One covered the hair in the middle and the other combed it to the sides. Not a fair comparison
PLEASE MAKE YOUR NEXT VIDEO ABOUT FACIAL BLOATING THAT FIN AND MIN CAUSES!

HELP PLEASE.
Is it normal for nipples to be sore and puffy with dutasteride? Is that a sign of gyno?
I started taking finasteride in this month.in the beginning of the procedure my body started to show side effects (a discomfort and a slight pain in testicle region).then I stopped and side effects gone.my doctor prescribed 1mg finasteride and I'm 19 years old I was facing hair loss issue for the past 1 nad half years.i used finasteride for only 3 days.does minimising the dose helps in my hair regrowth
Im 22 and I started fin 9 months ago at the same time as my hair transplant. So as you I had the same Sides for about 1 months (mostly the first week) but then it tamed gradualy and finally disapered after this first month. The only side I have now is that my morning woods are less noticeable but besides that eveything is fine!
I would have suggested you to try lowering to every other day
Any Finasteride brand recommendations for or things to look out for when buying? I want to start now before it's too late but I don't want to buy anything that's fake or doesn't work. Please help. Thank you!
The brand doesn't matter really, just got for 1mg finasteride from the brand which is available to you

Can 1 brother donate his hair to the other where they are twins?
What if someone gets psychological issues with finasteride
Is Finasteride bad for diabetics?
Can you take finestaride 3 times a week instead of 1mg per day? If so, are there studies supporting this?
yes, they recommend a 3 times a week dose
How often would be best to start on Finasteride?Daily or every other day? Thanks for the great content
They usually recommend starting with 3 times 1 mg a week. I followed their advice and am satisfied.
Better to avoid
They have answered this many times/in previous episodes/comments. It's recommended to have stopped taking it for a while before (mainly for psychological reasons - there should really not be a risk). But a woman planning to give birth should not be anywhere near Finasteride. Not touching it or so.
@@triedbuttdied this. The amount humans take is not the same as they did in animal studies. But for your peace of mind just rather not take it.
Question Dr. Do you have any recommended clinics in the US? For those of us who can't make it to Australia?
I would suggest you to look at the channel of Dr. Gary Linkov. He is based out of US, looks very accomplished and has a very informative channel, best channel on this as per me.
Check out Dr Cooley in NC. Search Cooley hair loss and his before/after w/patients comes up here on youtube. He's highly respected and regarded as one of the best, if not the best in the US.
Check out Dr. Matt Leavitt in Florida.
When I first use finasteride, does my hair fall out?
Take both.
Are you swallowing the pill after it’s dissolved? Your mouth isn’t going to degrade the active ingredient.
Why not cut pill in half and take every other day?
And now satisfactory results
I feel stomach aches right after taking 1.25 mg of finasteride (5 mg pill cut in 4). Is this normal? I started taking it about 1 month ago. I take 3 pills a week
How are you doing now, if you are still on it?
@@rcl300018 i quit weeks later. I reduced the dose and didn´t have any symptoms but I saw some "horror stories" related to finasteride and decided my anxiety wasn´t goint to let me take it long term lol. I´m using a minoxidil gel with bergamot every night. I´m also using cacahuananche and tepezcohuite soap while in the shower. These products are available in Mexico, maybe in the US too. They work fine, nothing magical or spectacular but at least I´m not afraid of long term and horrible side effects
Thoughts on dutasteride mesotherapy?
What about breezula or kx-826?
And what is the downside of blocking DHT? Because I think DHT isn't the priority of lowering your hair? :-P
in the UK there's a brand called HIMS that offering a new topical Finasteride & Minoxidil all in one solution (no pills); however I worry that the "Twice Daily" recommended usage would increase the chances of side effects compared to taking a pill 3x a week along side Minoxidil use. Would love to know your opinions on this method/product if possible as I have my doubts but also hold a lot of anxiety towards taking Finasteride in pill form.

The doctor himself is loosing hair
80% of men lose some hair by their 40s and 50s. That's not typical alopecia. That's just getting old. Older men look weird if they still retain their youth hairline. It's why good hair transplant doctors don't recommend bringing down the hairline for men in their 40s
Where’s the white Doctor???
one has a comb over and the other doesnt lol
They'd both benefit from hair fibers
so basically grow your hair longer and comb it to the side.
Finasteride will reduce sperm count ????
i was on dutestaride for a whole year but i noticed that my hair fall has increased after taking medicines like this and minoxidil ,i know this doesn't seems Scitific but yes that is my condition...my age 21..can i get a reply sir?
Is topical effective
Yes, as per limited studies. Oral is more time tested.

They talk about this on another video
That's good. That means your shedding the old hair and making way for the new stronger hair strands
Keep on using it. It takes longer to assess its effectiveness. My tip: take good pictures now and compare to pictures in 10 months (so 12 months in total). For me, the difference was clearly visible (thicker hair, hairline stabilised).
can we go bald in just shedding of finasteride...bcz i am in 2 months my hair shedding got worse...now scalp is more noticeble....and i am in confusion to go with it or stop finasteride ....i dnt wnna go bald
i always wonder what meds vikram takes cuz hes like uhhh uhh alll the time and talks a lot of stuff he could leave out, hes really like someone on benzo's. his concentration is totally off all the time
Still not the same person. Bald brother just needs to comb it over
They just did it so their mother could keep them apart.
night and day really
The finasteride user has clearly combed over his frontal hairloss
These before and after photos are never legit and they are always the same old tactic. The after is always longer hair and then combed over to appear to have more coverage.
So, it didn't really do anything.... I mean the finasteride guy has a combover to cover the loss.
sharp eyes 😂
What a disappointment. How are we supposed to believe they are twins if you don't show their faces?
Dnt Take It It.ll Make U Impotent
I'm not willing to take the chance with the side effects especially the sex drive
The side effects are very rare. And for some people finasteride will actually increase the sex drive, better libido due to the increase of testostérone.
Personally I got no side effects and only a better libido with finasteride. Definitely worth the try.
And if you do get side effects, then you can titrate the dose do to 0,25mg every other day and it's still gonna work against hairloss.
Just lower the dose if necessary, you won't get sides. And if you still get sides then after you stop the treatment : you sex drive will be back to normal in no time.
Ps : post finasteride syndrome is a myth
