  • In this episode, we are able to demonstrate the effects of Finasteride and effectively 'see' what the outcome would have been had Finasteride not been used.
A quick thank you to my patient for allowing me to demonstrate this. It is not very often that we get the ability to see this sort of comparison.

I started taking Finesteride way back in 1997 when doctors here in Australia never heard of it for hair loss. I had to import it from NZ and was $150 a box of Proscar .
I’m 53 now and it has stopped my hair loss and I grew some back at the crown. I started losing my hair 24 years old . I’m sure I’d be completely bald by now if I didn’t discover this drug. I have however lost strength and muscle over the years even though I have never stop pumping weights. Also lost a bit of libido but nothing viagra doesn’t fix. I have been taking 1.25mg for the past 25 years.
1 week ago I started Oral Minoxidil at 5mg a day. This made me end up in emergency department due to the causing me chest pains and breath shortness. I stopped taking the minoxidil 2 days ago and feel much better. Apparently it sent my blood pressure way to low.
After watching these videos, I now plan now to give Finesteride a month or 2 break to clear it from my body then change my dose to 1.25mg 3 times a week instead of everyday. It’s already been 1 week of my break from it and already feeling stronger in the gym.
Time will tell if 3 times a week of Finesteride will be just as effective as everyday and will give me some muscle back.

The Finasteride twin had his hair combed over. The non-Finasteride twin had his hair going straight down the sides of his head. I wonder really how much more hair has been saved with the Finasteride using twin if he styled his hair the same way as his brother. I'm pretty sure it would look much less full. I mean, look at how far the comb-over is! Anyway, Im sure it helped using Finasteride, but a true comparison should have been done with the exact same hair styling.

    • @exactly1176
      @exactly1176 2 года назад +1

@@proudman6651 that's false . It never " stops working" that's a myth. It still works but it's your MPB that is becoming more agressive as you age unfortunately... so finasteride by itself is not enough anymore (it happens to lots of people with very agressive MPB) . You should consider adding minoxidil to your regiment and also I would advice you to start dutasteride once a week at 2,5mg (on Sunday for example). While you will keep using finasteride of course.
Finasteride everyday + dutasteride once a week (enough cause it has a very long half life) and minoxidil at the same time = it's basically gonna stop your hairloss again (you might even get regrowth).
If that doesn't work after 2 years of use then I would go for a hairtransplant.
Ps : never ever stop finasteride anyway! (Even though you feel like it's not working anymore).
And you could also consider Fluridil as a topical anti-androgene or just wait for Pyrilutamide to be on the market by 2023 - 2024.
Hope I could help you 🙏

I'm in my 50's and was seeing a lot of hair in the shower drain after washing hair so I started DHT blockers. After taking finasteride 5mg for 2mos followed by switching to only taking dutasteride 5mg for one month. My hair loss completely stopped. After the 3mos, I had my annual PE and my CBC (complete blood count) showed a slightly elevated AST (liver damage). I do not drink or smoke, but have been taking supplements like niacin and rosuvastatin for high cholesterol, so I don't know what caused my high AST, but as a precaution I DCed all supplements and meds (AMA) until I have blood work done again in 4-5mos.
It's been 2mos since DCing finasteride and dutasteride, and now only use an anti-DHT shampoo/conditioner 2-3x/wk (Keeps). Based on what I see in the shower drain after washing my hair, I have had no hair loss whatsoever.
I will continue monitoring but based on my results, I may not need DHT blocker meds until I see hair loss again. I also plan to only shampoo once a week or so because it seems to be harsh on fine hair and dries my hair too much.
Conclusion: finasteride and dutasteride worked great and completely stopped hair my loss.

Testing this on one twin is not enough to proove the effect of Finasteride. First, any serious scientifc study you need a large population size to get good stats. You need to omit the drug and compare again in the same population. Also with DNA sequencing, we know true twins are not really identical, they are very similar but not identical, as we know spontanous mutation are very common in human population.

    • @Luke-nh4gw

So, what are the non-genetic causes/factors for male pattern baldness? Hormones/Anabolic steroids/Stress/Mental health/Smoking. Everyone's hair follicles are sensitive to androgens/DHT, but the degree varies. Identical twins don't necessarily both go bald. Yet, they're very likely to have similar lifestyles.

The side effects are very rare. And for some people finasteride will actually increase the sex drive, better libido due to the increase of testostérone.
Personally I got no side effects and only a better libido with finasteride. Definitely worth the try.
And if you do get side effects, then you can titrate the dose do to 0,25mg every other day and it's still gonna work against hairloss.
Just lower the dose if necessary, you won't get sides. And if you still get sides then after you stop the treatment : you sex drive will be back to normal in no time.
