Some take aways from this video: - Stabilization of the hair loss process starts immediately after taking the first pill! DHT is reduced in hours. - 4 to 6 Months. That's the time it takes to see improvement. - A hair that falls off today doesn't grow for another 3 months - When a hair undergoes miniaturization over 50% of the hairs thickness, it won't be able to grow back, just to maintain its current growth - 16% of patients experience significant improvement over 1 yr, but 36% over 2 yrs. Patience is key. - The main benefit of finasteride is stabilization of male pattern hair loss. Thickening is a bonus. - There are no real areas of more effectiveness (front, crown...) for finasteride, that's a myth. Hair will get best results in areas where the thinning process is less prominent. - The two major classes of medical treatment for male pattern baldness are blockers (fin) and stimulators (minoxidil). The key is the blocking (fin).
Im surprised at how accurate this is. I have been on finasteride for 9 months by now and its no miracle, its just like you have described .. the quality may improve but quantity wont.
malhar jajoo It depends on how much hair you already lost and for how long you had it already fallen out. There ARE actually many cases of people who regrew a decent amount of hair with finastride because they didn’t wait too long to use it. I just recently saw a video from a kid where his whole top and front part filled in.
@malhar jajoo, I'm no suprised. They, Dr.Jayaprakash and Dr. KNudsen, are licensed, professional doctors with decades of knowledge and experience. I wish I had meet these two great doctors at the onset of my MPHL. :(

Yeah, the best I've found so far. Pretty cool. Thanks for helping the greater community. I really hope it helps your practice grow as well. I'm sure it would/does when your prospective patients see these.
I have just started finasteride 1mg per day. I feel better because I am taking action to protect my hair, whereas before, I felt helpless. My only regret is that I did not start sooner. I let the bottle of pills sit in the cabinet for months because I was so alarmed at the horror stories on the internet. I am glad I started and am on my first week.
I am using topical fin 0,5% for 2 months (I know its pretty early to say anything). I see improvments in quality and quantity of my hair on temples. Its visible. But my crown still has no gains. Hope it will come back but I doubt. They said in video that it will work better where is just little thinning xd..obviously its nlt that sensitive to DHT. Btw my hair situation is not bad. Not a single person told me that I am losing hair but xd.
I am using finesteride 0.5g each day and minox 1ml each day on my nw2-nw2.5 hair for a bit over a month now. I know way to early too but it really work wonders. I dont know if it was placebo but 1g finest was too much and i think i lost a bit of my libido. But 0.5 works really great for me. Currently no sideeffects for me on both just a bit of white flakes on my head but i always had them so... my thin hair on the front and on the back of my crown starting to come out. Defenitly a Change. Also before usage i had around 10 to 20 hairs when i go through my hair now i have 2-5.. even with a bit of pulling which is insane... I had shedding in the first 1 to 3 weeks so i buzzed it down because it was that much but now they all seem to come back stronger
Thanks so much for the price less information. There are so much BS out there when it comes to hair loss treatment, it's so relieving to have a reliable source of information like you guys. Please keep doing what you're doing, it's helping me and so many other guys out there.
Glad to be on finesteride. I really don't want to lose my hair, and since 2019, I've seen it get thinner and my metabolism slow down. Getting closer to 30 has been a bit rougher than I expected.
Almost a year on finasteride , your videos and other youtubers helped me pull the trigger. I am a NW 1.5 (not totally bald in hairline just some thinning so there is hope for REGROWTH) so I still have a good head of hair and my hair feel much healthier and thicker. Before I took finasteride , the hair seemed so sensitive and when I brushed it with my hand it felt weak. I am so glad I did , no sides for me thus far. :) thank you. I fear to think what it would be like if I waited another year or two.... only regret is that I didn’t start even earlier but I feel that I am rather lucky in that I didn’t wait all that long.
Don't listen to these people who are clearly paid/get commission from Big Pharma to push Finasteride. Finasteride has permanent side effects for many people that are irreversible. Their studies don't mean shit because they were mainly funded By Big Pharma and many scientists and regulatory members of FDA were bought off. Their positive results were highly false-positively inflated. Way more people have reported worsening of hairloss and side effects on Finasteride than they advertise. These people along with many others are clearly bought off and are providing marketing for Finasteride obviously. Stay away from Finasteride whatever you do !!!!!
@@navalh8679 dont talk shit if you have not used it yourself. I had sides on it a they all went away and now i am normal as ever. But lets talk shit even though we never used it because some x person said so online. Studies will always be more reliable than some nobody's opinion online. Most of these "permament sides" people are probably paranoid or have some other medical issues.
@@navalh8679 yes please give me studies that have thousands of participants with control groups and everything ( high quality studies) and not those with few people in them. And you know what i wont even discuss this nonsense anymore i think certified doctors know more than some nobody broscientist online.
@@navalh8679 some of those i have allready seen. Anyway if Finasteride is such dangerous poisoning medication FDA and EMA would already banned it long time ago. Nobody is disputing side effects but people are claiming a lot of shit that they dont even get. And you cant now say its because of money because Finasteride is not even making that much money compared to other drugs. I will continue using it for as long as we dont get something better.
@@saellenx3528 So again, you're believing the same studies that claim that Finasteride side effects only occur in under 10% of users as the Gospel Truth from the same studies that omit negative findings and deflate the negative side effects rate, which does not make any logical sense. Those studies lose integrity due to that, and it wouldnt be a stretch to believe they'd also falsely inflate "positive results" when they've already commited biasness/progaganda and probably corruption/fraud. These studies that are pro-Finasteride that are supposedly "independent studies on Finasteride" are usually just corrupt studies that are funded secretly by Big Pharma/Merck with bought off scientists and regulatory board members to portray Finasteride in a positive light. It's simple Business 101 and marketing. Go to any major hair loss forum that is worthy of respect (not reddit lol) on the internet and you will see a phletora of people say they either experienced side effects on Finasteride or are scared to use it because they know people who actually had side effects. I wouldn't believe studies that make a product look only good, even if theres more of these studies - it's actually logical that Finasteride would have more pro-Finasteride studies that paint it in a positive light than negative studies because Big Pharma has billions of dollars and that comes with large resources and marketing power to portray Finasteride in a positive light (falsely). They've also had a head start for at least a decade to portray Finasteride in a positive light, but as of 2011, exponentially more and more studies are showing how dangerous Finasteride actually is as opposed to what was advertised and how many more people are speaking out about their side effects. Money is power however, and there's corruption in every industry or government in the world so as to why some people think the pharmaceutical industry isn't corrupt and isn't ruled by money, is ludicrous. I would definitely choose to believe the studies that are against Finasteride especially when there's so many studies that speak highly negative against Finasteride. There's several websites talking negative about Finasterides side effects now, there's also a literal organization called Post Finasteride Syndrome Organization that has almost 100 000 users that are regular on its website that is used for those that experience persistent/permanent side effects from Finasteride. There were also over 1000 law suits against Merck (which manufacturers Propecia) which paid out $4.3 million. If they were innocent they wouldn't have had to pay anything out to the sufferers of Finasteride. So that says a lot. Merck was found to omit side effects and lower the rate of side effects which is why they got sued. Also, some people died from Finasteride due to the permanent hormonal imbalances it caused which lead to things like severe depression. Mental side effects of Finasteride are real. These things are not small issues like someone just forgot to publish the full side effects report. People had to get paid off and bribed to be quiet to allow such to happen. Which is why I say even the FDA is corrupt to allow the omittance of certain side effects. Finasteride and Propecia have far too many scars for anyone to believe their honest and have integrity. Once again, if they can falsely deflate the % of negative side effects experienced by users and if they can omit side effects in their publishing reports/studies, it's obvious they'd also falsely inflate "positive results". With so many scars against the product it would be delusional to believe half the things Merck or other studies say that only praise Finasteride. Yes, it's unfortunate that there are lack of better *FDA approved* treatments for Hairloss other than Finasteride currently, but there's other alternatives which is why I always recommend people try the safer stuff first. If and only if they have no success they can try Finasteride as a last resort, and only if their hairloss is really aggressive. Also, they are working on getting Finasteride banned, unfortunately its a lengthy process and we're in a Pandemic so theres a huge backlog to work through. The FDA is corrupt once again and ruled by money. That's the only reason Finasteride has been around this long with all the side effects.
55 years old.I started and have continued on Finasteride for about 13 years now. The Doctor took a picture of my thinning hair before I started Finasteride. I recently had another picture taken by the same Doctor. I could not believe the change! My hair now looks like what it looked like 20 years ago.I didn't realized the difference Finasteride had made until I saw the before and after pics! When he showed me the" before pic" I actually asked him who is that? (forgetting how thin my hair was)
Finasteride is such a scary thing, well based on what people have been saying on Google etc. You guys really explain everything so well and it actually helped me make a decision to start taking Finasteride. I have been taking Minoxidil and Finasteride since the start of the year and honestly, the results for me have been astonishing! My receding hair has stopped completely, and even started to grow back! All the hair I have is thicker and looks in better condition. The pigment of my hair shaft is darker, they are more dense and thicker! I did a whole video about my experience after 6 months of treatment and I can't wait to see what it will be like after a year! Thanks for giving me the courage to start Finasteride!
Can u please share your experience about the side effects it posses? They say it affects ones sexual health? How far do u think is it true? Please give your honest input.

I'm 24 and I started fina 30 days ago. My temples lost a bit, and my hairs started to get thin so 4 years ago I started minox 2% and I got some results, I wanted more so early 2019 I started dermarolling + minox 5%, I saw a significant result on the thickness and quality. But I want more results, I don't want to truly believe it but I feel like minox 5 + derma gave me some regrowth on the balding spot, I'm sure that I see these baby hairs slowly growing bigger but I refuse to believe it, kinda weird but yeah, I have the hope that fina increases that point but I'm unable to be really optimistic about it. But after 30 days I start to see a difference, the first two weeks, I was loosing like 200 hair per day against ~20 before the first pill despite a little quality raise (It was really terrible for me because I never lost as much, my hands was full of hairs when applying minox, I was dreaming about it as well) Few days ago it stopped, I feel my scalp "different" and the quality of my hairs is increasing as well. This is quite relieving and I hope it keeps up on that (hair)line.
I'm 28 and noticed a few weeks ago my hairline at my forehead looked thin. Caught this early and started taking Finasteride. Talked to my Dermatologist and he said realistically you'll restrengthen what currently exists. I'm fortunate that I haven't lost much but the name of the game is that if you want to keep your hair then you need to get in front of the issue as soon as possible. I'm okay with thinner hair and stopping the damage - it was naturally thicker than what I wanted. This is a highly informative show and it tells you a lot about Australian healthcare vs. the US. It's amazing how better outcomes can be achieved when marketing and profits come second to numbers, science, and the patient's well-being
thats what happens in the billion dollar industry of hair loss, every snake oil salesman preys upon peoples fears and insecurities to sell some useless bullshit. These two men are the best.
Good & honest video on Finasteride coming from competent individuals! Thanks for that! I will be referring to this video whenever guys ask me about this drug. Can you please share for how many years have you been already prescribing Finasteride to patients?
you guys are so good - i wonder why i found you randomly just now and NOT when i was searching material for finasteride. Thank you folks for your content ❤️
I'm not sure if you guys read comments on old videos- but I just wanted to add a datapoint- I've been shiny bald for 8+ years and I have managed to regrow a few thousand hairs up top over the last 4 months. Nothing amazing there asthetically, but it does seem to go against the "once 50% is gone, it can't be a healthy hair" idea. I only mention this because I hear it repeated in this and other videos on the channel. (been doing microneedling, fin, and min.)
Thanks for the video (the hair loss show). Good informations and it really helps a lot of people that are experiencing male pattern baldness. You guys are awesome and continue the good work!!!
Hmm, I question the idea that when a hair goes beyond 50% of the size of its original size to be true. I’ve seen dudes regrow where there seems to be nothing
I am actually worried about that statement since I am just starting my daily dose of finasteride, and I’m sure it’s beyond 50 % already. I’m worried about not reviving my front almost-downy hair.
27 years old here, nearly 28. I'd say I'm a thinning NW 1-2. Only noticed it recently when at the barber and had a strong light shone on my head, and I could see the thin areas in exactly the pattern of MPB. Last week I started finasteride. Going to start with 1mg x3 a week. Haven't noticed any side effects yet (touch wood). I'll try and update this comment as I go.
Update #1: So I've been taking the 1mg x3 dose for the last 5 and a half weeks. What I have noticed is an increase in shedding, but I know this is normal, expected and proof that the medicine is doing what it is supposed to, and so I'm not worried about this. As far as other side effects go, I would say that initially, in the first couple of weeks, I perceived what I felt to be a slight reduction in my libido, maybe by 15-20%. Although I would say this could be attributed to other things, like just a general fluctuation in libido. I did see a notable reduction in ejaculate. Nothing alarming, but a notable reduction, however, I would say that in the last couple of weeks this has returned to normal somewhat, alongside my libido level.
Update #2: Three months since I started finasteride now, and I feel like I am beginning to see changes at this point, earlier than expected. I haven't seen any progression in my hair loss or in recession of the hairline, which of course is the first objective. I should also mention that I began to take topical minoxidil as well about a month ago, so it might be a little difficult to differentiate the effects form minoxidil vs finasteride. I have noticed that in the areas where I am applying the minoxidil, new hairs are growing in after the initial shedding. These hair are thicker than before, and although light in colour at the moment, I have read they will darken with time. The new hair has undoubtedly reduced the appearance of thinning in the areas at the temples. I am very much encouraged by this given that I am still in a relatively early stage with regards to expected results time. My "reproductive functionality" continues to be normal/ pretty much the same as before I began treatment, and so of course I am happy about this too.
Honest no BS advice, should have started on this when I went on TRT, will see how next year goes, then might get a transplant, if a choice of hair or low T, then easy choice.
I don't know why I didn't look for this channel sooner. Luckily I'm only 20 so there's hope, I've been reading about fin on reddit and the internet which has created an anxiety around taking the pill for me but starting first of September I'll be taking 1mg 3 times a week, thanks to you two doctors. Hey I’m also from SA and turning 20 next year lol. We’re you able to just get it from a pharmacy with a prescription? Also how much did you pay, because I’m seeing varying results online.
@@SJokes yo man I had to get a prescription from my doctor for proceipa or something like that and I'm able to get it from the pharmacy in checkers with my prescription . This a the real deal. I mean people have been misinformed on crazy marketing products etc. The earlier you tackle and make a prevention on your hair issue the more chances you experience these benefits
A doctor told me to stop taking finasteride because I was over 40 and there's no evidence it works for men at that age. My response was that I was a long term user, and even if it was subject to diminishing returns, I didn't want to risk losing what I had maintained over the years. He thought that was nonsensical
@@pinkisforpimps Personally I don't really need the answer. I think the answer is that older men will see less benefit, because they start thinning more broadly, in places where the drug isn't effective. It's just age progression.
Two questions: 1. Best time of day to take it? I typically take it every night before bed? 2. Is the topical as effective as the oral? Currently I’m taking the oral.
Thanks for the video. Do you recommend going for tests serum DHT, scalp DHT, Testosterone, Estradiol before and after starting oral/topical finasteride so as to compare results?
Ive been using topical minoxodil since August 2024 and I derma once per week. In addition I use DHT blocking shampoo - I've tried Sons and Watermans. I add peppermint oil and rosemary oil to the shampoo and leave it for around 5 minutes each day. I've seen some thickness in the crown but I'm defininitly bald though I would argue my hair loss here has slowed. I am 45 and my hair started receding when I was 30. It's hereditary, annoyingly. My hair line has receded about half an inch which makes my forehead look large which again is annoying. I would say I have seen around 3 or 4 new hairs on my hairline. I have lots of baby hairs where my hairline was originally. This week I have decided to start finasteride. My libido is more important to me than having hair as I look ok with a buzz cut so I'm only taking 1 mg three days a week. Wish me luck - popped my first pill today.

These guys are saying you can't improve with 50% hair diameter decrease yet they don't explain why or how you even determine what stage of miniaturization you are at.
At 3:30 of this video you say a hair that falls out today doesn't grown back for another 3 months. This has been your experience and your understanding as hair specialists? If true, this is encouraging for me because I've been taking Dutasteride for 3 months and it's clearly induced accelerated shedding. I thought all the shed hairs may be lost forever but hopeful that at least some of the hair will grow back (of course I probably lost some because they're too thin to recover). I spoke with another doctor and she said there should be a new hair coming up through the scalp immediately behind the shed hair with no delay, but from what I hear you saying, is that there IS a delay from shed to a new hair coming through. I'm little suspect of her opinion. Great stuff Dr.'s. I've seen all your videos.
@@James-cg4jo No regrowth. I've shed and/or lost hair for sure since starting Dutasteride for 3 months and Finasteride for the last 9 months. So unless Dutasteride or Finasteride have been know to make things worse, then the hair I lost was must have been hair that was too far gone to save with these drugs. Or, I'm a non responder. But after looking at pics of my hair right before treatment and now it seems like it may have been hair too far miniturized to be saved. Wish I started prevention 3 years ago. Oh, well.
BTW, I''m only talking about the front and midscalp....which is just more diffuse and the corners are recending... The rest of my head is pretty much the same as it has been.
@@James-cg4jo Too hard to tell between shedding and progressive loss. As for nuking DHT, no thanks. That's why I got of Dut after 3 months. Too heavy for my body.Fin has created a DHT suppression ratio that my body likes much better. There's a reason Dut hasn't been approved for hair loss, it's too heavy! Your body need at least SOME DHT for crying out loud. Unless your prostate is the size of a lemon.
You don’t. Men who lose most of their hair won’t notice until 50% of it is gone. You also have to consider that there’s hundreds of thousands of hair strains on your head. So you won’t know you’ve lost half your hair until…you lose half of it.
How about Dutasteride? Dutasteride inhibits type 1 & 2 AR, and type 1 AR has been implicated in male pattern hair loss. Many people have had significant re-growth form using Dutasteride and many say it simply has no substitute. Finasteride only inhibits type 1 AR.
I was prescribed dutasteride and I have been on it for 5 weeks. I can see lots of small dark hairs popping up on my temples where I was extremely thin. There are some studies that show that dutasteride is much stronger in reversing the miniaturisation especially
Sir I have 2 questions please help me 🙏🏼 1. Can natural DHT blocking foods replace finasteride and If not then why 2. How to notice the side effects of finasteride...............??? Please sir help me if possible 🙏🏼
Would the use of Finasteride over a period of time (months to years) increase 5-AR concentration? A follow-up of this question is that, if this were to be true, would the discontinuation of this medication result in more profound hair loss than normal due to elevated 5-AR levels?
Dr.Vikram, I know you mentioned once that you were on finasteride and then quit. What was the reason for that ? As someone already mentioned in the comment section, there seems to be visible thinning on your scalp.
He answers that question in this video at timestamp 8:11 >>> ruclips.net/video/kX0SsgDRF7A/видео.html He stopped because he said he wasn't actively losing hair.
Great .. in one video u said that for consective 5 years use of fenestride is highly useful ... what shoul be the way to take it for 5 years ... any break should we take in the middle and how long
I'm 29 and my hair is thinning slightly, mainly around the temples. Would you recommend going on three 1mg tablets a week? Or is it better to do one everyday? I know you talk about three times a week but I don't know whether you're talking about older men etc etc. What is the best thing to do for someone in my situation? I'm not losing any hair yet but I am aware that it's better to catch this while it's in the early stages
If you haven't already, experiment with 3x a week. See if you get any sides, which you likely won't, and then cruise on that if your goal is maintenance.
yea because fin has diminishing returns, so going above a certain dosage wont give you more benefits, but rather put you at a higher risk for side effects
I’m confused - they said it stops hair loss immediately but we won’t see results until 3 months.. but then they go onto say only 18% of people see good results after a year?
I took finasteride for more than a year (with very good results) until I knew my wife was pregnant. My "baby" is now 13 yo with a tremendous genetics and super healthy. Side effects (sexual drive, semen viscosity and volume) were gone after stopping the drug.
So i have been taking finasteride 1 mg daily for 2 months now and not only i have not stabilized my hairfall is worse than ever does this mean its not working for me or should i give it some more time ?
You're shedding which means you will start regrowing the lost hair but it should be thicker than before. You need to keep taking the fina, don't stop. The shedding means it's working, you just need to wit a few months to see results.
@@gangabiss what about a person who is already shedding around 100 hair per day? Does taking finasteride make me lose more hair or in my case it will stabilize the hair fall...? Thanks

Use 1.5 derma roller once or twice per week firmly pressing you may bleed. This works you can also stack minoxidil on but yu have use it forever if you use it except in beard the effect will last on the beard even after stopping
thanks a lot for this, How would you compare Dutasteride in low dosage 2 times a week with Finasteride in terms of effectiveness and stability, regrowth?
I've been doing that for nearly 8 months ... it works wonders I promise. The only "side effects" I've had from doing the combination of finasteride 7 times a week and dutasteride twice a week is my hair has become thicker and I have an increased sex drive.
The point is to prevent your hair loss the moment it starts out. When you have already lost a lot of hair you can't grow it back! For me now it's more like trying to keep what is already there and probably fix my hairline with a procedure if I'm still unhappy with the way my hair look.
Been on finasteride for 2 years, hit a plateu or got my max restorative results. Started microneedling 3 weeks ago and already had noticeable new growth hairs. After finasteride microneedling has been phenomenal.

@@MOMO-xo3iw with finasteride or with microneedling? I still haven't hit a year microneedling yet. I quit minoxidil after 5 year use because I felt like it wasn’t working anymore. I’m on Ru and stemoxidine mix and I’m think about taking finistride cause I’m still losing hair
Djsnoop123 Thats because you weren’t tackling the DHT causing the new hairs regrown form the Minoxidil from falling out. Many people make that mistake by only using Minoxidil, which only stimulates hair but doesnt stop DHT from making it fall out.
@@James-cg4jo quit Ru wasn’t sure if it was working and I was still losing. Got on Fin eod 1 mg, my hair stabilized but no real regrowth and slowly losing. Just added .05 mg of dut this week. I take once a week might go up to 1mg a week
Why would one take 1mg every other day instead of 0.5mg per day? The dosage is almost identical on a weekly basis (3mg vs 3.5mg), but it seems that 0.5mg per day would be much more effective at keeping DHT levels consistently low as opposed to 1mg every other day which would have DHT start increasing on the day off. Could you please explain?
Two fold reasoning. 1. The tablet comes in a 1mg formulation. To get 0.5mg, you either need to get it specially compounded or cut it up into half - not a huge hassle, I agree. 2. The effect of the drug on the 5AR enzyme lasts longer than a day (at a dose of 1mg). Hence daily dosing is not necessarily required. That said, 0.5mg per day is a perfectly reasonable dose.
@@TheHairLossShow Thank you. A seperate question: why would anyone take 1mg daily if 0.5mg (or even 0.25mg) daily is shown to decrease serum DHT 95% as effectively, considering the lower dosage might significantly decrease chances of adverse side effects?
Topical Finasteride is still in the pipeline with Breezulu. I use Minoxidil 5% in a 60ML bottle . I have ordered 60 Finisterade tablets at 1mg strength with a view to crushing them and putting them into the 60 ml minoxidil bottle and apply it topically. Can you tell me how many tablets I would need to crush and add to Minoxidil in order to create an effective topical solution. Any advice would be most welcome from the doctors of this video. Thanks
Hi, I’m taking Finasteride every other day for the last year. I should be starting IVF in roughly 4 months no exact date yet. Dr Russell said to stop taking 1 month before conceiving ‘so it’s out of the system’ and Dr Vikram said to stop a few months then said a few weeks before conceiving. From what I’ve read the sperm cycle is like 3 months so shouldn’t I abstain for 3 months before an ivf date to make sure it is out of the system
What about the shedding phase when taking finasteride? When should you expect to shed? I feel like I been on a crazy shed on month 1 so I want to know if this is normal. Thanks
I started using Finasteride generic in March of 2019 and there was a fair amount of shedding for about three months. It was very disconcerting. Then it started to taper off and now almost a year later on most days there’s very little or no shedding at all. As far as I know, no one can tell that my hair is thinner in the front than it was two years ago.
@@James-cg4jo It's not likely that you will get anything back but it can stop the hair loss. At least it did for me but I also use a laser cap and the two combined have really made a difference since I still have just about the same amount of hair that I had two years ago. It's a little thinner in the front but no one can tell. The finasteride took about three months to stop the hair loss and it's something you need to get on right away. I use the generic.
I remember like 10 years ago I went to a doctor and tried to get a prescription for finasteride. They told me that they had to take my blood. I told them no and didn't get the perscription. The only thing I've tried since then is those Rogaine like products and dyes.
Thanks for the video, very insightful. So if 82% had hair stabilisation over two years and 86% after one year, does that mean from year one to year two, 4% of people stopped reacting to the drug?
've been on Propecia for about 3 to 4 years, taking 1 mg daily. would you advise if I switch to 1mg every alternative day? or do you reckon my body is now used to the 1mg per day and lowering the dose might reduce the efficacy?
If dutasteride has more efficacy and similar side-effects with finasteride can I start on dutasteride 0.5 mg daily or 5 days a week ???.....or else do u suggest combination of finax 1 mg 5 days in week and dutasteride 0.5 mg 2 days in week?
Have been losing hair for a year now. Have some pretty thin hairs un the temples mixed with some healthy hairs. Any posibility i get more dendity there?
Hello doctor. First of all thanks for the video. Now my question is what is the right age to start finasteride considering I'm at early stage of mpb and any medical tests is recommended before going for finasteride ? Thanks in advance.
I started using finasteride daily, a dose of 1 mg, at first, it was a terrible fall, and after two months the fall stopped, but the shedding did not stop, but it is less since the beginning of its use, here I am to 3 and a half months, and there is no progress, what is your advice, please? My psyche collapsed because of baldness 😢
@@TheHairLossShow still waiting on the video talking about topical finestride. Pls we must know what your take is on it. I'm 41 and I'm finally seeing a bit of thinning, could also show us how to make it? Maybe you could sell it.
Some take aways from this video:
- Stabilization of the hair loss process starts immediately after taking the first pill! DHT is reduced in hours.
- 4 to 6 Months. That's the time it takes to see improvement.
- A hair that falls off today doesn't grow for another 3 months
- When a hair undergoes miniaturization over 50% of the hairs thickness, it won't be able to grow back, just to maintain its current growth
- 16% of patients experience significant improvement over 1 yr, but 36% over 2 yrs.
Thanks
Thanks you very much

Wow, this channel is a BLESSING to people experiencing hair loss!
This show has been so informative, you guys and MPMD have done so much for us balding guys.

But after 30 days I start to see a difference, the first two weeks, I was loosing like 200 hair per day against ~20 before the first pill despite a little quality raise (It was really terrible for me because I never lost as much, my hands was full of hairs when applying minox, I was dreaming about it as well)
Few days ago it stopped, I feel my scalp "different" and the quality of my hairs is increasing as well.

Hmm, I question the idea that when a hair goes beyond 50% of the size of its original size to be true. I’ve seen dudes regrow where there seems to be nothing
Zi eo very true critique my friend. I’ve seen that too.
True. I’m living proof of it. My temples were completely gone before taking finasteride.
It's better to lowball instead of promising things that might not be attainable for everyone.
I agree with this. There are many cases where people have regrown on areas where they we nearly bald
So how's it going now???
Can you give us some update man??

BTW, I''m only talking about the front and midscalp....which is just more diffuse and the corners are recending... The rest of my head is pretty much the same as it has been.
@@napnap609 maybe try, did the shedding stop? Also maybe try ru 58841 bc that nukes DHT to undetectable levels supposedly
@@James-cg4jo Too hard to tell between shedding and progressive loss. It initially seemed like shedding because I was alarmed that it seemed to be happening faster then I've ever known, but could very well have been loss I was destined for because if it was shedding I would have gotten it back, and I haven't.
How can I tell if my thinning hair has thinned more than 50% or not?
You don’t. Men who lose most of their hair won’t notice until 50% of it is gone. You also have to consider that there’s hundreds of thousands of hair strains on your head. So you won’t know you’ve lost half your hair until…you lose half of it.
@@natechenry I think the question was related to the thickness of a single hair not the overall appearance of all the hairs.
How long does finesterdie shedding take place?
How about Dutasteride? Dutasteride inhibits type 1 & 2 AR, and type 1 AR has been implicated in male pattern hair loss. Many people have had significant re-growth form using Dutasteride and many say it simply has no substitute. Finasteride only inhibits type 1 AR.
I was prescribed dutasteride and I have been on it for 5 weeks. I can see lots of small dark hairs popping up on my temples where I was extremely thin. There are some studies that show that dutasteride is much stronger in reversing the miniaturisation especially
dut is the best MPB drug.
At what dosage and how many times a week do you take it?
How do you get prescribed dut?

Would the use of Finasteride over a period of time (months to years) increase 5-AR concentration? A follow-up of this question is that, if this were to be true, would the discontinuation of this medication result in more profound hair loss than normal due to elevated 5-AR levels?
@Anton eckhart shut up with your bro science
Dr.Vikram, I know you mentioned once that you were on finasteride and then quit. What was the reason for that ? As someone already mentioned in the comment section, there seems to be visible thinning on your scalp.

Great .. in one video u said that for consective 5 years use of fenestride is highly useful ... what shoul be the way to take it for 5 years ... any break should we take in the middle and how long
I'm 29 and my hair is thinning slightly, mainly around the temples.
What about the high impact prostate cancer stats for use of of the drug.
I have seen so many videos and cases, whole reddit full of stories and pictures of people who grew back more than 60 percent of hair if not all.
In another video, you said that you prescribe 1mg 3 times a week - is this less likely to produce gyno as a side effect?
yea because fin has diminishing returns, so going above a certain dosage wont give you more benefits, but rather put you at a higher risk for side effects
Hearing finistride is great to take for Transplanted hair - Strengthens and thickens for better results?
Really enjoying your video series about possible remedies for hair loss, can you please talk about revivogen and how effective it is as well!

Using 1mg of finasteride every other day or using 0.5mg of finasteride everyday?
they mention before in other video both are the same
I’m confused - they said it stops hair loss immediately but we won’t see results until 3 months.. but then they go onto say only 18% of people see good results after a year?
I took finasteride for more than a year (with very good results) until I knew my wife was pregnant. My "baby" is now 13 yo with a tremendous genetics and super healthy. Side effects (sexual drive, semen viscosity and volume) were gone after stopping the drug.

You're shedding which means you will start regrowing the lost hair but it should be thicker than before. You need to keep taking the fina, don't stop. The shedding means it's working, you just need to wit a few months to see results.

Use biotin shampoo. Use 1.5 derma roller once or twice per week firmly pressing you may bleed. This works you can also stack minoxidil on but yu have use it forever if you use it except in beard the effect will last on the beard even after stopping
Do you think that propecia 3mg/week is more effective than topical finasteride (fortified with minoxidil) applied twice a day?
Hey Dr Knudsen. GREAT hair for your age man. :)
thanks a lot for this, How would you compare Dutasteride in low dosage 2 times a week with Finasteride in terms of effectiveness and stability, regrowth?
I would be interested in this too. What about cycling duasteride, fintasteride and time off.??.
I've been doing that for nearly 8 months ... it works wonders I promise. The only "side effects" I've had from doing the combination of finasteride 7 times a week and dutasteride twice a week is my hair has become thicker and I have an increased sex drive.
6:40-7:05 so it won’t work where you are most thin? Then what’s the bloody point?
The point is to prevent your hair loss the moment it starts out. When you have already lost a lot of hair you can't grow it back! For me now it's more like trying to keep what is already there and probably fix my hairline with a procedure if I'm still unhappy with the way my hair look.

Does do finasteride or minoxidil cause shedding of hair when you first start treatment? Does your hair fall out more rapidly than it would naturally?
Minoxidil can cause, but not fin. They affect differently.
@@xPRODIGYxGAMER Hi! are you sure? The question is "when you first start treatment", not when you stop.
Been on finasteride for 2 years, hit a plateu or got my max restorative results. Started microneedling 3 weeks ago and already had noticeable new growth hairs. After finasteride microneedling has been phenomenal.
What device do you use??
Were you able to restore bald temples? Iam on month 11 and on my temples new baby hairs are poping where i used to have hairline. Hoping that by 2 year mark they would grow in length and thickness
@@MOMO-xo3iw with finasteride or with microneedling? I still haven't hit a year microneedling yet. The fin helped the baby hairs stay and my hairline came back to where the last scraglers were, wasn't very thick though so I started microneedling for density. Also the hairs were not necessarily thick like hair but more like baby hair. It's improving with both treatments together.
@@odnewdylee with fin i meant. i do microneedling 1mm once per 2 weeks and min once per day. As i understood is that fin is the main which needs to be taken for at least 2 years so that hair follicles can be healed and then after that min and needling that be add ons to maximise results. i started the whole regime just for peace of mind and not to be late. Iam norwood 2.5 hoping to return to norwood 1 or 1.5
@@MOMO-xo3iw after 2 years I didn't see any more changes. Cutting our stress seemed to help my hair as well. I've definitely had more hair come in since microneedling.
Hello. Have you found any connection between finasteride and metabolic syndrome and diabetes? I have seen studies showing an association but not directly indicating causality. Have you found any relation in your experience?
What about saw palmetto vs finasteride?
What I want to know is what alternatives can we take if we don't want to run the risk of finasteride
So basically don't even look for improvements until three months are up?
6 months to a year
Yeah I'd say 6+ months. Even then don't expect transplant levels of "good" to happen
so how do u know if most are below or above 50% i was full baseline 4-5 years ago its online the crown for the most part can definitely see the scalp in some areas. am i still mostly early enough or will not get baseline anymore.
62 and on fin-min for 2and a half months...tho I started with decent hair genetically, my aim is to save , thicken and regrow... but already I notice a positive incremental results albeit minor... but im patient [ ive raised 3 daughters] lol
What about combination therapy? Surely combining Fin and Min will shorten the result time and better result right?
I quit minoxidil after 5 year use because I felt like it wasn’t working anymore. I’m on Ru and stemoxidine mix and I’m think about taking finistride cause I’m still losing hair
Djsnoop123
Thats because you weren’t tackling the DHT causing the new hairs regrown form the Minoxidil from falling out. Many people make that mistake by only using Minoxidil, which only stimulates hair but doesnt stop DHT from making it fall out.

that means your hair follicle are very sensitive to DHT , i guess try to take 1mg every day instead of 1 mg 3 times a week
@Josh your hair got destroyed in a short period of time out of the blue?
@Dr Beechas I'm almost 19 years old the hairs un my temples are thinning.i have very thick body hair too.does that mean I'm sensitive to dht as well?

Peter Putnam sounds good bro. What point did u discover your first shed and what’s your dosage ?
